Mountain lion upgrade error

I've been doing upgrades forever on Mac's and this is the first time i've been stumped <kudo's apple!>. I downloaded and extracted the  ML upgrade and have been trying to 2 days to get this to install, all with the same result. Funny thing is it will come up, no problem in Safe Mode. Posting this to Apple Communities, maybe someone can decode the message. I can only take a picture of the message since there is no other way to capture it. If anyone has a clue, i'd like to know. I've already restored from my super duper backup to Lion.
Miguel

Bing "freaking" o !!!! I thought I deleted this a long time ago but the uninstaller left a bunch of crud behind. So since there wasn't anything to actually delete application wise, i did the following:
cd /
sudo find . -name "*com.para*" -print
and deleted everything it came back with and boom!! Rebooted without a hitch!!!!
Thanks,
Miguel

From the App Store menu bar top of your screen click Store > Check for Unfinished Downloads
If that doesn't help, disable anti virus software and turn off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security & Privacy.
Keep in mind, for downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband (high speed internet) access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation.

  • Mac Restarting after Mountain Lion Upgrade

My mac keeps rebooting itself saying "your computer was restarted because of a problem"
It's only started happening after mountain lion upgrade, someone please help
This is my first post in this forum btw

    Try reinstalling Mountain Lion:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • I bought a Mountain Lion upgrade for $20 off the Apple site. I have four other Macs all under the same ID. How can I share the new OS with other computers. Or can I?

You can share it with other Macs under your control (not your neighbor's).  You just need to be logged in under the buying AppleID for updates or to download again.
Use this thread to find a method of copying the ML download into a USB drive to make other installations easier: https://discussions.apple.com/message/16639520#16639520

Do you get this window when you hold down the Command+Option keys and launch iPhoto?
If not then you're not holding down both keys long enough.

  • Enabled fonts not showing up in InDesign after Mountain Lion Upgrade

After upgrading to Mountain Lion, fonts that are enabled in Font Book (Adobe open Type) are not showing up in InDesign CS5.5.
However, if I go to Font Book and disable the fonts, then re-enable them...they will show up in InDesign.
Anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks!

It sounds like a small glitch in your Mountain Lion upgrade. If you're just done an in-place upgrade (not a clean install) these things can happen.
It sounds like you've found the workaround. But if you discover other problems with the upgrade, you should consider a clean install. Do a Google search on "clean install Mountain Lion" to find out how.

  • Downloading Mountain Lion upgrade from App Store failed

I'm upgrading my wife's iMac from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to Mountain Lion. Just tried to download the Mountain Lion upgrade from the App Store. I paid for it, clicked on the download, the little icon did it's fancy leap down to the application bar at the bottom of the page, and the item in the app store said it was downloading as well as the white bar beneath the icon in the app bar at the bottom of the screen. Nothing happened. I left the computer and came back about ten minutes later. The app store had crashed. Rebooted it. Tried the download process again. Same result.
I paid about $20 for the system software upgrade so I would like, if possible, to use the app store item if I can. Is there a solution without a trip to the Apple Store to buy the system upgrade?

Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
    Click Go
Move the NetworkInterfaces.plist file from the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
Relaunch the App Store and try downloading Mountain Lion.

  • HT1338 For some reason I simply cannot find a button anywhere to purchase Mountain Lion upgrade software.

I have been looking for the click button to purchase Mac OS X Mountain Lion upgrade.
I have been going round and round and cannot find that place.  Please help.

From what I've read on these forums over the past few months, it hasn't gotten any better. An electronic order from any company shouldn't take more than 12 hours for a system to respond to, but people have been waiting up to a week for their redemption code email to arrive. It makes no sense to me why it would take that long.

  • I only got second email for free OS X mountain lion upgrade

I got approved for free OS X Mountain Lion upgrade but I haven't received first email that contain PDF file. but I got a email with password to open PDF.
    any idea?

I received TWO OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date Password Emails, but no email with the PDF content code on July 27, 2012.
The email said "If you did not receive an email from the OS X Mountain Lion Up-To-Date program with your content code, please check your spam filter settings for attachment restrictions and contact us at [email protected] to have this email and your content code re-sent."
I checked my spam folder & didn't see anything. I emailed asking for the content code email to be resent, just like the email said. I got what I assume was an automated response on July 31, 2012 (4 days later). That email said:
Thank you for contacting the OS X Mountain Lion Up-To-Date Support Team regarding your request to change the email address associated with your claim.
In order to change the email address, please send the following information to [email protected]
    Your Claim reference number
    Original email address
    Revised email address
    Requester name:
    Requester address
    Requester phone number
The reason I assumed it was automated is because the parts above in red were highlighted in my email. I emailed [email protected] again indicating that I just need the content code resent. I received the SAME automated email on August 2, 2012 (2 days later):
Thank you for contacting the OS X Mountain Lion Up-To-Date Support Team regarding your request to change the email address associated with your claim.
In order to change the email address, please send the following information to [email protected]
    Your Claim reference number
    Original email address
    Revised email address
    Requester name:
    Requester address
    Requester phone number
Same email, just different parts highlighted.
Apparently, email correspondence does not work since it thinks I want to change my email address. I'll have to call Apple Care directly to find out what is going on.

  • Since Mountain Lion Upgrade is my Internet connection very slow, Since Mountain Lion Upgrade is my Internet connection very slow

Why is Safari so slow after Mountain Lion upgrade?

I have a home Optimum wifi network with Boost connecting to an Airport, with a second Airport extending, and an Airport Express extending. I have a MacBook Pro, last year's model, two iMacs, a year old each, and an older iMac. (If necessary I can get all the models etc, but I just want to express the problem). The two new iMacs and MBP are running Mountain Lion. The older Lion.
Since upgrading to ML my connection speed both over the wifi and directly connecting to the router has dropped from 30-50 down and 5 up to between 1-4 down and 4 up. I have had the cable folks here to test lines. We've swapped out the modem with a new one. I bought a new netgear N600. Everything led to the same result.
Here's the odd part. When restarting the modem and plugging it directly into the powerbook, initial tests show 30-50 up and 5 down. But once you reconnect to wifi, lose speed, the re-connect directly to the modem the slowness persists directly connected to the modem.
So I start suspecting Mountain Lion. BUT the older iMac cannot be upgraded to Mountain and is still running Lion and has the same issue. The equipment is in the same place it's always been. We've added no electronics that would be interfering with signals.
Everyone is stumped and looking suspicously at the computer and OS. Please help. I'm beginning to hear the bing bong bing bong of dial up in my head.
