Mountain lion with email scrolling

I have noticed in my Mac mail that when I attach a file, I am no longer able to scroll back up in the email to finish my comments.  Is anyone else having this issue?  I just switched over to Mountain Lion Yesterday, and and am finding little nuances that were not there before.

derekfrombraydon,
Ok I'm trying to understand what you did.
1) You have an iMac that started out with OS 10.7.x
2)  Then you later upgraded to OS 10.7.x  Server app
3) later this past week you download OS10.8 Mountain Lion (ML)
4) Did you actually install OS 10.8???
Note I think something went wrong with Installation of OS 10.8 so it reverted back to the previous OS which is why it still shows 10.7.4 Server.
If you were in OS 10.8, you would notice a change in the OS for sure.... well at least in system preference you would notice new control panels for Notifications and Dictation/Speech.
Anyway, Note that Lion Server app does not work for OS 10.8
If you want server function you'll need OS X Server app which is for 10.8  which you have to buy.
Note If you are having problems with lion server now, then upgrading with existing prefs to 10.8 Server is not going to fix stuff.
Your best bet is do what Gnarlodious Suggested, doing a clean install of 10.8..
I recommend that you timemachine your entire computer to an external hard drive first. Make sure your back up drive is not connected to your imac after you are done backing up.
Then created a USB install disk of mountain lion.
http://arstechnica.com/apple/2012/07/how-to-create-a-bootable-backup-mountain-li on-install-disk/
follow the instructions on that website.
once you have a bootable USB drive with 10.8 install
then select it as the boot drive in startup disk
reboot
afterwards run disk utility from mountain lion install program.
select the internal drive of your iMac and reformat it or just to an erase.
quit Disk Utilty and click Reinstall Mountain Lion
select internal drive and install
after when done installing it should take about 30mins or so,  plug in your timemachine drive and go through the process of transfering data during the setup process of mountain lion.
hope this helps...
Just curious why do you need Server functions? I don't suggest it unless you really know what you are doing.

  • Can i upgrade to mountain lion with 10.5.8?

I currently have a Mac Book Pro version 10.5.8  I just got an Iphone 5 and when i plug it into my computer it pops up that I need to download the new itunes, but I cant download itunes because i dont have the right OS version.  can I download Mountain lion with 10.5.8 or do I need to download snowlepard?

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

  • How to connect MacBook Pro 17" Mountain Lion with HDMI port on TV, Panasonic TC-P55ST50

Any experience with cables for connecting MacBook Pro 17" Mountain Lion with HDMI port on TV, Panasonic TC-P55ST50 (or similar)?

It depend upon the model (age) of you MBP.  If you have a Thunderbolt or minidisplay port, then you will need a minidisplay/HDMI adapter.
    eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/CBLMDPHDMI/
Or you can get an all in one:
    http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Premium-DisplayPort-Thunderbolt/dp/B004CADYD O/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1361985588&sr=1-3&keywords=minidisplay+hd mi
If you have an older mac with a DVI port, you will need something like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/DVI-HDMI-Cable-6ft-Male-Male/dp/B0002CZHN6
Note that audio is supported via HDMI for MBPs 2010 and later.  Earlier ones require tapping the audio output port.
    Ciao.

  • GPU in after effects cs6 on mac mountain lion with Intel HD 4000

Is its possible to enable GPU in after effects cs6 on mac mountain lion with Intel HD 4000?

No, OpenGL Swap Buffer support (Level 1) support for the HP4000 is for Windows only. Level 2 and 3 support is not available either. You'd need a more powerful NVIDIA card for Level 1, 2, and 3 feature support.

  • Virtualbox on Mountain Lion with Mac os x server

    Hi,
Got a problem since migrated to Mac OS X Mountain Lion with in addition OS X Server application installed to replace Mac OS X Lion server on a Mac Mini.
All was working fine until the day after the installation I got the following message when I start VirtualBox:
Failed to initialize COM or to find the VirtualBox COM server. Most likely, the VirtualBox server is not running or failed to start.
    The application will now terminate.
    Callee RC:
    NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
On my MacBook Pro I did the upgrade to ML too, but without the upgrade of the Lion Server to OS X Server.
SInce a number of things have fundamentally changed (X11 removed) I wonder what I need to do to get my Virtualbox working again and what is the **** difference that the installation of the server component causes.
There have been issues with the support of Virtualbox but the testlevel was set to 4.1.15 ... so the version I'm using 4.1.18 should work ... but I don't see any kind of verification against OS X Server.
Been looking for a day now and haven't got a clue anymore where to look.
Are there people out there having the same kind of problems?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jan

I am having a similar "Failed to initialize COM" problem on Mac OS X 10.7.5, VirtualBox 4.2.2. I have wasted over six hours alone trying to address the issue, and it's still unresolved. My message:
Failed to initialize COM because the VirtualBox global configuration directory /Users/username/Library/VirtualBox is not accessible. Please check the permissions of this directory and of its parent directory.
    The application will now terminate.
There is no such VirtualBox folder in my user Library folder. It is trying to locate a non-existent directory.
The closest workaround I could find that enabled VirtualBox to open was to create a brand new admin level user, log in to that user account, then install VirtualBox and run under that account. Works great, until I log out and try to run VirtualBox on my primary admin account, which results in the same "failed to initialize COM" error.
I have found no helpful advice geared towards Mac OS X users to troubleshoot or resolve this issue. You can try posting on Oracle's VirtualBox forum. Good luck.

  • Is anyone experiencing problems with opening mission control from the desktop.  Running mountain lion with parallels 7 and windows 7

is anyone experiencing problems with opening mission control from the desktop.  Running mountain lion with parallels 7 and windows 7

I had been having a similar problem on Lion with Safari pdf files despite downloading the latest Adobe Reader XI.
I would constantly get the same messages - There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired. And I would get a blank page when I tried to print the pdf if I tried printing from the Safari web page using File - Print from the top toolbar on my laptop.
Then I came across the grey Safari lozenge with action icons.
This allowed me, without downloading the pdf, to print the pdf file direct from the Safari page by using the Print icon on the grey lozenge that appears centrally three quarters down the screen.
Then I discovered that if I save the pdf using the Save icon from this same grey lozenge on the Safari page I can open and print this pdf version from my desktop.
I've tested it with a couple of different pdf files and these methods work using the grey lozenge icons but the same pdfs files don't work using File - Save As on the Tool Bar.

  • Is it possible to downgrade to mountain lion with the help of a time machine backup after having updated to Mavericks?

Is it possible to downgrade to mountain lion with the help of a time machine backup after having updated to Mavericks?

Just to be clear, if by downgrade you mean uninstall, then the answer is technically, no.
You can't uninstall an OS. You can erase and re-install the old OS, but if you don't have a prior backup of your data, you'll lose it during the erase procedure.

  • I JUST INSTALLED MOUNTAIN LION, NOW THE SCROLL BALL ON MY MAGID MOUSE SCROLLS IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION THAN IT DID BEFORE. I NOW HAVE TO ROLL THE BALL UP TO SCROLL DOWN

I JUST INSTALLED MOUNTAIN LION, NOW THE SCROLL BALL ON MY MAGIC MOUSE SCROLLS IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION THAN IT DID BEFORE. I NOW HAVE TO ROLL THE BALL UP TO SCROLL DOWN.

If you go into System Preferences> Mouse. There is a box at the top of the screen that states Scroll direction: natural.
Be sure to uncheck the box after installing MOUNTAIN LION, then the mouse ball will scroll in uthe normal fashion.
       Thanks for all the help...
