Hi, I have bought my Macboook pro back in Feb 2013. I need to reinstall my fresh OS but I am unable to connect to the web for download and also recovery drive option is not working. I need my OS copy. I dont have any CD for the OS. How I can get my copy of OS. Mountain line came pre installed with the system. Do I need to pay 20$ to get a copy. I dont know what to do?

Internet Recovery. It boots up from Apple's servers and you can reinstall from there.
Normal Recovery is a separate partition on the HD. You can try booting into that (cmd-r) and repair the HD with Disk Utility. If it won't boot into the Recovery HD, then try Internet Recovery (cmd-opt-r)

ITunes Match can't get past Step 1 since Mountain Loin OS upgrade

Been using iTunes Match (ITM) since it lauched with no issues. Since upgrading to Mountain Loin, ITM just keeps invoking Step 1 every few mins and then quits after the results are returned from Apple. I tried turning off Genius and ITM and then only turning ITM back on with the same results. Anyone else had this same issue and found a resolution to this problem?

I spent 4 hours on the phone yesterday with Apple support on this exact issue. Apparently ML corrupted my iTunes library. I had to get a senior tech at Apple to remotely access my Mac to walk me through the fix, which required moving my iTunes files around, as well as doing a complete re-install of ML.
My iTunes Match still acts a little buggy, but a least I'm able to access my music. The only way to solve this issue IMO is to get Apple support to assist you the way I described. Don't waste time talking to a low level person, because they won't know how to help you (unless they're getting so many calls on this they've sorted it out). Also, since this is a ML issue, you won't be charged.

Accidentally Free Mountain Lion copy erased!

Hello. I got a free Mountain Lion copy with my new imac
I used it to download my copy, but accidentally erase the copy in my imac, and canceled the appstore download.
now, appstore doesn't accept my code for the free copy.

That's completely normal. If other programs require memory then the system will reallocate Inactive RAM as needed. Page Outs don't mean anything.

The amount of available RAM for applications is the sum of Free RAM and Inactive RAM. This will change as applications are opened and closed or change from active to inactive status. The Swap figure represents an estimate of the total amount of swap space required for VM if used, but does not necessarily indicate the actual size of the existing swap file. If you are really in need of more RAM that would be indicated by how frequently the system uses VM. If you open the Terminal and run the top command at the prompt you will find information reported on Pageins () and Pageouts (). Pageouts () is the important figure. If the value in the parentheses is 0 (zero) then OS X is not making instantaneous use of VM which means you have adequate physical RAM for the system with the applications you have loaded. If the figure in parentheses is running positive and your hard drive is constantly being used (thrashing) then you need more physical RAM.
Adding RAM only makes it possible to run more programs concurrently. It doesn't speed up the computer nor make games run faster. What it can do is prevent the system from having to use disk-based VM when it runs out of RAM because you are trying to run too many applications concurrently or using applications that are extremely RAM dependent. It will improve the performance of applications that run mostly in RAM or when loading programs.

How old is my Mac mini and can i run mountain Loin

I have a mac mini Intel core 2 duo, 1.83 GHz, 2 GB SDRam running Mac OSX 10.6.8. Several of my software apps states its 64 Bit Intel. Can I run Mountian Lion? I have no idea how old my mini is or how to find out. I really just want to use the icloud. ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated.

It would appear you have a Mid-2007 model. You can run Lion but not Mountain Lion. iCloud works with Lion 10.7.2 or later.
Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.

I recently updated my 2009 iMac to Mountain Loin and computer is now very slow

I have a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 16 GB's of RAM. I recently upgaded to Mountain Lion and have been having significant speed issues since. since installing the new operating system everything seems to be freezing up and buffering. My web browser buffers when I open it, and I can barely work in Photoshop, which was working great before the upgrade.
Can anyone help with this?

I am have the exact same problem.If found when looking in the app's application and then purchased app under Mountain lion it just states downloaded not installed.What I was wondering if you go into the app application and under purchased app look at Mountain lion does it state downloaded or install. I was wondering if I need to uninstall both loin and mountain lion and then try to install them again. This all started this March when I downloaded mountain line and you're the first person that I've read that is having the same problem I'm have. if I find the answer to our problem I will notify you and please notify me to find the answer to our problem.
If anybody is having the same problem and found a solution please let me know.

I got second redeem code, which was wrong again, and gave me OS X Server instead of OS X Mountain Loin

This morning I got another code from Apple, again, it was the wrong code. This time it did not give me the error, but instead, it gave me OS X Server App from the App Store.

I got this too! *** Apple????????
The message I got when I entered the code was something like "Can't install OS X Server on this computer because it requires OS X Mountain Lion to be installed first."
Apple is rubbing salt in the wound considering all I want is my copy of Mountain Lion!

You require Windows 7.
Windows 7 is the same and will run the same as it would on a Windows computer. All programs that run on a windows computer will run on your Windows once installed. You will need anti virus software for your Windows partition. Microsoft Security Essentials is free and it works well.

Mountain Lion: Copying mailbox from one user to another user on the same mac

When I bought the mac I had only one email address. Since then I have accumulated 3 more addresses. I created another User on the same MAC to seperate the personal emails from the 3 new email addresses, that I use for business.
There are some mailboxes from the 1st account that has business information in them that I want to move to the 2nd User account (with the 3 e-mail addresses). I though that I could save them in the dropbox and then save them into the 2nd User accounts like I did with the documents and spreadsheets, but this does not work.
I really need to separate the Family Personal email information from the Busines Information and I do not want to just send lots and lots of emails to the accounts to get them there.
I am not using Cloud at the moment because it created some syncing issues. Because the 1st User Account and email account is synced with an iPad and iPhone that my wife uses with an Apple ID. The 2nd User (and 3 mail addresses) are synced with my iPhone and a separate Apple ID. We have separate ID's because she did not want my personal & business contacts seeping into the family email accounts
I know that this is long, but I wanted to provide as much information as possible, so that I can resolve this.

I spent quite a few hours after this was posted trying to figure it out and I did.
Select Mailbox > Export Mailbox. This asks you a location to export the mailboxes to. It just uploads the exported mailboxes into Dropbox.
Then change the User that I want to import the mailboxes into. Select Import and select the location of where you placed the folder in Dropbox. This then imports the mailbox into a folder called Import. You then drag and drop the copied mailboxes from the Import folder to the folder in the structure you have. If you decide to delete the folders from the import folder list, do this. You can also delete the copied folders from Dropbox if you wish.
Took a while, but I got there and I'm happy now....

You just need to purchase the Mountain Lion once, and once you are done downloading and installing it on either your imac or mac book do the same on the next trough the app store, but use the same Apple ID from which you have made the purchase earlier.

TS3276 Mountain Loin - Mail

I have lost all my numerous personal mailboxes when installing Mountain Lion on my Mac, Mail now shows the limited range of boxes that exist on my iPad. How can I get them back and in fact duplicate them on my iPad?

For starters, post in the "10.8 Mountain Lion area". This is the 10.7 area.
Mind you, the problem is not likely related to the version of Mail your using.
Does you ISP not have a web page that explains what mail settings to use?
What your describing sounds like you need a password to send mail, or a different "port", or SSL, or any number of other options for sending mail.
Reading mail is a lot easier.

Mountain lion copy was tampered with or corrupted

Taking all day to install ML on my Early 2011 MBP.
Here are my specs: 120 GB Cherryville Intel SSD + 500 GB WD Scorpio Blue in the optical bay.
Wanted to do a fresh install of ML over Lion but that didn't go well. After formatting my SSD and trying to install from 8 GB Flash Drive (mounted and formatted to InstallESD.dmg) it said "Could not download all needed packages" or something like that. Tried 6 times. Luckily I had my original HDD still with all my old stuff on it. I booted from that and downloaded Lion again. After installing Lion, now it says "ML copy was tampered with or corrupted, delete this copy and download from App Store". I have done this like 6 times and still getting the same error message! Yes, I have fixed disk permissions and verified the disk, cleaned the cache and still won't go.
Any help would be appreciated.

I encountered the same error "…can't be verified…" error on my 2010 MBP too. Tried six times and finally I could get it installed. Here's what I did:
Went to "Users & Groups" in System Preferences, checked that the Apple ID specified for the current user is the same Apple ID I used in the download purchase of ML from the App Store.
Rebooted in Safe Mode.
Went to Disk Utility -> Repair Disk Permissions
Downloaded ML at midnight (and the download was significantly faster!)
Rebooted in Normal Mode.
Ran the ML Installer.
