Mounting Airport on wall

Can the Airport Base station be mounted on a wall?

Yes, all versions of the AirPort Extreme Base Stations (AEBS) can be wall-mounted. However, you may encounter range performance issues due to the fixed antenna positions within these models. In addition, the newer 802.11n base station have a built-in heat sink directly under the top of the unit. Mounting the base station, other than in it's intended horizontal orientation, may potentially cause heat related problems.

My TV is mounted on a wall so I can't connect the Apple TV device. Is it possible to connect to an HD Cable Box and send signal to TV that way? Other problem is that Box only has one HDMI socket so would also have to use a splitter. Tried Apple Support but couldn't offer a solution. I can't be the only person with this issue surely?
    Help!

No, unless you are using a home theatre system already, your only option is to connect to the TV.

  • Mounting E4200 on wall

I need some ideas on how to mount the E4200 on a wall. Has anyone found any smart ways to do it? Any suggestions?

You could try and use a strap or clip tactic
    For ex:
Imagine haveing a piece of velcro that was long enough
to wrap around the silver part of the router
and then taking that piece, and putting a scre through the center
attaching the velcro to a wall
then you could wrap the router with it
or you could use two peices of sticky velcro
    one to the wall
    one to the router
Another idea could be to use clips
Kind of like they do with gates
Imagine you had a gate with two U clamps, one on each gate
one would lay a 2x4 into the clamps to secure the gate
kind of like a barn door does
you could use this idea for the router
screw one or two u shaped clamps into the wall
and then rest the router into the clamps
you could also try to run some sort of string through the vent slits
using a xmas ornament hanger would help get it through there
then hang it like a picture
    good luck

  • Mounting Airport Disk - It's Only Showing Up as Shared Folder??

I have a USB drive attached to the Airport Extreme Base Station. Right now it's only listed as a shared folder, and I'm at a loss.
In order to see it in Finder, I have to select the AEBS under the Shared tab. Once I do this I see my hard drive, but it's listed as a shared folder.
I really want to see the hard drive as a mounted network drive, but can't figure out how to do it.
Please let me know if anyone has some thoughts. Thank you.

I think your airport disk is working perfectly. The problem here is that you are used to Tiger and expect that once anything is mounted it appears on your desktop. This behavior has been changed in Leopard - the network drive no longer appears on the desktop - this is intentional. As I tried to explain before the airport disk IS automatically mounted by OSX. It's mount point is actually /Volumes (just like it was in Tiger). The only difference is that instead of creating an alias on the desktop - the alias is placed under the shared folders tab in finder.
I already showed you how to create a link on the desktop if that is what you really want.
I don't understand exactly what the problem you are having is??? You can browse all of the files on your airport disk right???

  • Finder freeze when re-mounting Airport Disk

I can not Force Quit the Finder, beachball spinning.
I read the log in Console, it has something to do with the Airport Disk mounting, attached in our Airport Extreme.
It's been 4 forced shutdown (holding power button) since Mountain Lion installed in this MBA 2012 11".
On Lion, it was no error.
On the other side. My MBP late 2008 is acting normal in the same network with the same Airport Disk. Also Mountain Lion installed.
    What to do?

    Hi Tylerwr-
Greetings and welcome to the Apple boards.
Out of curiosity, does each drive have a unique name? Did you format the drive to Mac OS Extended (Journaled)?
Take a look at this setup guide and see if anything helps: AirPort Base Station and Network Setup Guide

  • Modem mounted on the wall- now barely warm

When I first got my VDSL modem with the HH3 sta on top it was getting quite warm. However upon reading the lit I see that they recomend wall mounting it. Since doing so I find its barely warm. The grills are all round the sides so wall mounting improved air flow a lot better

    Hi there,
That actually sounds like a pretty good idea. You wouldn't happen to have a template, would you? Also what size screws did you use?
    Thanks

  • External Hard Drive Not Mounting, Airport Down, Too. Any thoughts?

Here's the short version. The iMac has the airport attached via USB and a WD 500GB (My Book) via firewire. The external drive started mounting intermittently or dropping off in the middle of the day. (How do I know this? Streaming tunes and the music disappears. Go look at the screen and the icon is gone.)
Twice I've shut down, walked away and restarted hours later and everything comes back. Other times--nothing. And the airport is disappearing as well. When the imac is shut down (like right now) I can access the Internet but if it's turned on nothing. (Oh, and while I can get on the 'net from the laptop iTunes doesn't see the Airport express behind the stereo.)
I looked at the log in system profiler. Sometimes its says the external drive is not found. Otherwise I'm in over my head.

You have posted in the iBook G4 area, you may want to post in the iMac area. To find out what iMac you have, read this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1463 .

  • Do I Need To Remount/Keep Mounted Airport USB Disk?

I have a Lacie HD connect to airport extreme and have mounted it on my desktop, designated it as m y Time Machine destination, and am in the process of the first 130gb back up. My question: do I have to have the Lacie mounted, on my desktop, for TM to find it/work in subsequent back up?
    Thanks.

    yes

  • Airport Express Wall Plug

Due to the design that has it sticking straight out of the wall, the slide-on AC plug has broken on my Airport Express.
Is it possible to get a replacement?

You shouldn't have to install any software on the Mac mini. OS X has all the software you need already installed.
The AirPort Express (AX) should be configured to "share a single IP address".
If I remember correctly, the AirPort icon you are describing is what you see when the Mac connects to an "ad hoc" wireless network. If that is the case, the Mac mini is NOT connected to the network provided by the AX. It is connected wirelessly to another computer directly.

  • Mount AirPort Disk using AFP

I am having some trouble mounting my AirPort Disk using AFP. I can navigate to "Network" using the Finder and select my AirPort and then mount the desired volume. However, if I attempt to use "Connect to Server" in the Finder's "Go" menu, I run into a problem. By my (possibly flawed) reasoning, I should be able to enter in afp://airportName/volumeName in the server address field and it should connect. If I enter in smb://airportName/volumeName, it works. But trying the same thing with AFP doesn't work. However, if I try afp://10.0.1.1/volumeName it does work. I find this a little perplexing. Any suggestions? Have I just got the AFP URL syntax wrong?
Thanks in advance for any help!

I am building a script that uses rsync to syncronize some files between my laptop and my external drive. If I mount the drive manually through Network, I can syncronize files properly. My understanding is that the mechanism behind the mounting process in this case is AFP. If I mount the drive manually through "Connect to Server" in the "Go" menu of the Finder using "smb://airportName/volumeName", then the drive mounts but when I syncronize, the modification dates for the files all get set to today's date and time. This doesn't happen when I mount through Network in the Finder because AFP "understands" HFS+ while smb "doesn't understand" HFS+.
It turns out that I can mount the drive using AFP by using "afp://airportName.local/volumeName" according to another user. I will try that tonight. I still need to understand why the Applescript mentioned in my post above doesn't mount the drive to the Finder, yet renders it accessible from Terminal.

  • Looking for an ipad in-wall flush mount

Does anyone have any idea where I can get an in-wall flush mount for an ipad.  Must have room for charging cable. Don't want the whole system, or network, just need the wall mount.  I cannot find any online to save my life.  We need it for a custom build boutique we are building.  Thank you

Cheers Tom, I have already done that.  Apparently there are very few companies that sell these, and most that are of professional grade that are flush mounted in a wall are only sold or distributed through home audio stores and the likes, as a package with an in-home network, and not sold to a regular consumer.  I don't need a metal locking one that is designed for mall kiosks, I don't need one that would be used in a hospital application, I just need a flush wall mount in black, that is compatible with charging cords.
IF anyone has has any other suggestions aside from "google it" I would be grateful.  Thank you.

  • Need a webcam mounted on wall, no cords to compute...

I'm trying to set up a webcam in the conference room for my small company.  We use skype frequently, and I go wireless to project what's on my computer to the tv mounted in the room via ScreenBream. But, I have to use this little plug in webcam that doesn't reach far enough to capture the people in my conference room, and more annoying to me has a wire I have to drag across the table. I'd like to have a camera mounted on/by the tv on the wall that will work with Skype on my computer - without having to have the camera plugged in to my computer. But, despite a lot of searching I'm still not clear what I need to do.
I see wireless cameras, but I'm not sure if that is what I really need. I can actually wire the camera to the router if needed - it's on the other side of the wall from the TV and I have an easy path to plug it in - I just need something that doesn't plug directly into my computer. I'd like to be 12 feet away from the camera, free of cables, on skype using a webcam mounted on the wall.
We're a small company on a budget and use this for internal interaction...I'm not looking for something fancy or that would "break the bank." I feel like what I want should be pretty simple given the technology, but I'm lost in terms of what type of camera I need. Can anyone help? Thanks.

From my experience , you could try setting up a cheap IP camera ( indoors , because the have better colours inside i think) and use a program like manycam to virtualise it into a webcam that a conference call app could recognise. Now this is hypothetical and i do not know how the quality is gonna be , because IP cameras are mainly used for security and do not really need 1080P playback. But on the other hand , this could work if you picked an IP camera that has a decent image quality.
Hope this gives you any direction,
    Daan

  • Wall Mount for a 23" (Clear enclosure) Apple LCD Monitor

I've been scouring the net, looking for wall/desk mounting options (like an articulated arm, or even a bracket just to mount it to the wall) for my 23" Apple cinema - NOT THE NEW METAL ONE - the older, clear plastic enclosure type...
The only thing I can find is like $350! Is there anything cheaper out there? I've found the articulating arms, but nothing that mounts to the wall. (Except for Marathon - which is now out of business...)
    Help!

    Hello? Anyone? Yikes....

  • Wall mount for IMAC

    Hej
i was going to by a imac ,and hang it on the wall but???
the imac G5 vesa wall mount dose not fit ,the new Imac
    what can i do??
is it possible to by any wall thing!!??
    thanks Søren

Sorry, but unlike the first two iMac G5 versions, the preceeding models (iSight, Intel CD) are not VESA compliant and the stand cannot be removed in order to accommodate a wall mount or an articulating arm.
In my opinion, this is something that Apple should have kept throughout all its iMac models. Such a shame to have that all in one setup and not be able to mount it on a wall---where it would be perfect.
So now I have an iMac G5 (ALS) mounted on the wall and an intel CD that has to remain on its stand. Too bad, they would have looked awesome up on the wall together!
