Mouse always double clicks

I have this problem, my mouse always double clicks. I tried searching the forum for a solution. I got only one result http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=73460, but i am not able to solve it. So i started a new thread. I think my problem is there are two instances of mouse, thats why its double clicking always.
I am posting the last few lines of /var/log/Xorg.0.log file

Thanks in advance

@Lich: Ya I'm using only one. I dont think its a problem with the hardware.
@ lolilolicon: Your solution did'nt work. Actually this has to be put in "Server Flags" section. If I make it true, my keyboard and mouse doesn't work. So i tried making it False, still not working.
can somebody tell me if there are two instances of mouse running, how can I find that?
And thanks for the quick reply.

    I have tried changing the Mouse Double Click Preference to both Max Fast and Max Slow, but nothing helped. Ive been using this setup for over a year.  Reinstalled clean when upgrading to Yosemite last week, and this has been happening.
    Macbook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)
    OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
    Logitech B100 USB Mouse
    Any ideas on how to keep this annoyance from happening?  It's driving me crazy.

    TO everyone on this discussion:
    There is a "Double-click speed" setting in the "Accessibility" System Preferences - click on the "Mouse & Trackpad" (in the Interacting options) choice on the left and you will see the slider to adjust the double-click speed.
    Also sometimes if you have third party mouse drivers with their own System Preferences settings it might be there as well.
    I've got an Apple Magic Mouse and the above is what I use to adjust the double-click speed.
    good luck and Merry Christmas

  • Mighty Mouse and double clicking

    Mouse is set to "double click", but, if I place the cursor over a file in my desktop and click the mouse, nothing happens.
    Clicking on links in the browser works fine, but I have to hold down the "control" key in order to invoke the contextual menu and then select "open", in order execute an action that the mouse should do.
    I am a new, iMac convert, and do not know if this behavior is normal.

    Are you double clicking?
    No.
    Again, mouse is set to double click when I press on it, once.

  • Mouse left double click question

    Hello all...
    Well, my son seems to have done something on his system...
    When I log in under his user name, left double click doesn't seem to work. If there is a .pdf on the desktop, left double clicking won't open it. In order to get an application to run from finder, I have to right click & select open. When I log in under my user name, everything works great.
    Question: What did he do & how do I un-do it??
    Thanks.
    <Edited by Moderator>

    Try moving:
    Your son's User name > Library > Preferences > com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    to the desktop and restart the computer which will create a new default set. This will reset his system preferences. If this works you can get rid of the file but will have to reset the rest of his preferences. If it doesn't work you can put the file back into the place from which it came (overwrite the new one that will have been created and restart) to restore his settings and we'll have to try something else.
    It also occurred to me that since I don't have a two button mouse and don't know anything about the kind you have, perhaps it has its own preferences settings which might not be affected by the general system ones. I tested the above by changing my mouse settings and checked which of my preferences files had changed.

  • Magic mouse not double clicking

    Ever since I upgrade my iMac to Lion OS  my mouse will not double click consistantly.  I tried purchasing a new mouse thinking that my other mouse had a click problem but that didn't fix my problem.  Anybody else having this problem?  Any work arounds?

    I tried this, too, thinking it would solve the problem. It didn't. In fac, it may have made it worse. So weird. I can click to select, right click and choose open, but I cannot double click to open a file or folder. This started AFTER I rebuild a Mac with a new hard drive and fresh install of Lion et al. Anybody have an ideas?

  • Universal Access Mouse Keys Double Click Broken In Lion

    Hi,
    Lion has made a couple of changes to the Universal Access Mouse Keys, BUT...
    You can no longer double click with the 5 key...
    This is a HUGE problem for users reliant on this to counter RSI problems.
    To reproduce:
    In Universal Access, toggle Mouse Keys to 'On'.  Open a text document, hover the cursor over a word, and double click using the number pad 5 key.
    Prior to Lion this selected the word.  In Lion this is no longer happens.
    I am using an Apple keyboard with number pad and a MacBookPro.
    Please re-instate this functionality.
    Regards,
    Rob.

    This was fixed in 10.7.2 or 3 from memory, but returned in 10.8 and remains in 10.8.2.
    I use Keyboard Maestro to map F17 on my keyboard to double-click, Ctrl+F17 to triple-click

  • Can't use mouse to double click song playback w/latest update of iTunes?

    Downloaded latest update of iTunes and now I can not double click a song for playback...What's going on? Is anyone else experiencing this?

    "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.  Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes64.msi' in the box below."
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Mighty mouse double click

    How do I get my mighty mouse to double-click? Throught System Preferences, I have the the left side of the mouse as the primary button, the scroll button as dashboard and the right side as secondary button. I have the double-click speed set as fast, yet I can not get the mouse to select text by manually double clicking the primary button. Any suggestions? I've only had the mouse for 5 weeks, and have yet to get it to double-click.

    Should work fine, try decreasing the double click speed, and be careful not to push the right half of the mouse.

  • Double Click Home Button

    So I updated to 1.1.1 and tried out the double home button press. I had seen listing about it taking you to favorites or bringing up an volume/pause/etc. window if you are playing music. But I hadn't seen this anywhere – maybe I just missed it.
    If your phone is sleeping and you press it twice it also brings up the iPod playback controls. Even if music isn't already playing. I don't have a passcode set on my phone. When I did, that didn't work. Just a little cool thing that made me happy!

    I have a 3GS and I just updated to the 4.0 software...why did I loose control of my home button?!?!
    Because you updated.
    Why can't I decide what to do with my home button?? I've always double clicked to get my favorites on my phone...it made using the phone app on this thing barely tolerable.
    Chill. Seriously? Barely tolerable? You have to do like one extra tap now. Is that really the end of the world considering you have gained multi-tasking and fast app switching (which is really useful after you've used it for a few days)?

  • Turn Off Double-Click to Close?

    Is there any way to turn off the 'Double-Click to Close' functionality for creating selections (such as a Polygon selection)?
    I am making complex selections and accidentally double-clicking with my Wacom pen and it closes the selection when I don't want it to.  I have tried setting the Wacom pen preferences for Photoshop but have been unable to affect this issue there.  Obviously, I can continue to add to selections, but the premature closing frequently ends up with wacked shaped selection which I must do more work to cleanup.  If I could turn off the PS double-click to close functionality it would fix this problem.
    Thanks!
    Mike

    Thanks for the ideas folks.  I guess it's a wish for the future then.
    I like the Polygon Lasso tool... just wish the double-click to close could be turned off (I am far faster tracing areas with the Polygon Lasso tool than futzing with the Magnetic Lasso tool... but the rapid fire use of the Polygon tool is triggering the double-click to close action).
    In the Wacom control panel, there is a setting for Double-Click Distance, but turning it to OFF had no effect.  Also setting the Mouse settings double-click speed made no difference... I am still triggering the double-click to close.
    In any event, I'll work around the issue.
    Thanks again.
    Mike

  • Magic Mouse single click double clicks and drops dragged images

    Last few weeks my Magic Mouse has started behaving strangely. When selecting something with a single click the mouse seems to double click and open the item instead of just selecting it. Very frustrating. When dragging anything across the screen it always drops the item halfway there.
    What is going on? Software? Hardware? I have no 3rd party software installed and have tried various double click speeds with the same result.
    Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

    A lot of people have encountered this, Tom, myself included (see discussion here for instance: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11547453&#11547453).
    It appears to be a bug in the OS. Annoying, but until Apple fix the problem, it's something we're unfortunately going to have to live with. Sorry I can't help you further.

  • In Yosemite, Magic Mouse double-click function doesn't work

    On my iMac running Yosemite 10.10.2, the double-click function on the Magic Mouse no longer works. So to open a folder, or anything for that matter, I must always do click-control ---and that doesn't work for everything. For example, I can't double click on a character in Glyphs, so this renders Glyphs useless. And so on... I have gone into preferences to see if anything was amiss in the settings, but everything checked out fine. Is there a fix for this, or do I have to wait for the next upgrade for Yosemite? Help! Thanks... --Royce

    What's the answer to this mouse problem, please? Why does my double-click no longer work on my magic mouse since downloading Yosemite 10.10.2 to my iMac?
    What's up Apple?

  • How to handle both single click and double click from mouse

    hey,
    I looked in past threads and didn't get a proper answer for capturing both single and double click from the mouse.
    in most applications the single click action does not interfere with the double click action, for example in a text editor, single click sets the cursor in between the text, double click marks a word, triple click marks a sentence, they do not bother each other, they all can happen first the single then the double and then the triple, but what if i have a very distinct action for each of the actions, the e.getClickCount() returns every time the number of clicks and if i use
    if(e.getClickCount()==1)
        doSingleClick();
    if(e.getClickCount()==2)
        doDoubleClick();it will always do first the single click and then the double click, which works fine with the example i gave, but not with what i want to do, so i was thinking to over come this that i will use another thread to run my tasks if dt has past since the last click and by the last click counts to perform the correct action and go to sleep until the next mouse click notify it, what do you think?
    run this to get what i mean...
    package blah;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class MouseClickTest {
         static long previousTime = System.currentTimeMillis();

              frame.pack();
              frame.addWindowListener (new WindowAdapter() {
                   public void windowClosing (WindowEvent e) {
                        System.exit (0);
              frame.setVisible (true);
              return frame;
         public static JFrame launch (Container contents, String title)      {
              return launch (contents, title, null);
         public static JFrame launch (Container contents, Color backgroundColor) {
              return launch (contents, contents.getClass().getName(), backgroundColor);

    Did you reinstall CS3 after CC?
    For that matter, doing an in-place upgrade on the OS is always a gamble with Adobe programs. Reinstalling all the versions you need, in order, would probably solve your problem.
    And you shouldn't need to save as IDML after opening the .inx in CC.
