Mouse Arrow/Hourglass

When Forte' is processing, the mouse pointer becomes an hourglass. However,
if the mouse is moved so that it is no longer over a "Forte'" window, the
hourglass changes back to an arrow (even though the processing is not yet
complete). Does anyone know how to make the mouse pointer remain an hourglass
while Forte' is processing, regardless of where you move your mouse? This
issue arises both in designing applications using Forte' and in using
applications created in Forte'. Is the solution the same in both scenarios?
Thanks!
Glen

  • Mouse arrow has changed to straight line - how do I get the arrow back?

Help! When I sat down to use my computer yesterday, I noticed the mouse arrow that is usually there has changed to a line (similar to a curser in a word document). I want to change it back to the arrow, but am unsure how. I'm hoping it's just a setting one of my kids has messed with. It's frustrating because the grey line is difficult to see unless the screen is white. If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know. It is only happening on my account (the admin acct.). My kids accounts still have arrows.

    Did you ask them?
Trashing the mouse preference may help.
    Home>Library>Preferences> com.apple.driver.AppleHIDMouse.plist
    Restart your computer.

  • Want to move the mouse arrow without physical mouse

    Hi There
I have my Mac Book connected to the TV almost 24x7 and I have a wireless keyboard and an apple remote but not the mighty mouse.
the issue is that I would like to be able to move the mouse arrow over the screen and click or doble click without having to buy a mouse. how can I do it? is that a combination like someting plus the arrow keys? is that possible to use the apple remote as a mouse? i mean it would be great too. is got the 4 directions and a button in the center for clicking.
    any other solution?
    many thanks in advance

Turn on keyboard navigation in the Keyboard shortcuts of Keyboard and Mouse prefs and you can use the keyboard to navigate through the menus, folders, etc. However, there is no way to drag.
Set full keyboard access to "All Controls" and you can tab through all the buttons in the dialog boxes. Use spacebar to "click" the selected button.
In the Finder, Cmd+down arrow opens a file/folder. Cmd+Up arrow goes up in the hierarchy.
Combine this with the previous tip and you can have it all, mostly.
Also, without any of that, esc or cmd+. cancels, and cmd+first letter of button usually selects the button. That last one is application specific.

  • How to highlight cell in a tree programatically when mouse arrow is moved over it

    Hi
I would like to highlight a particular cell in a tree when a mouse arrow is moved over it. Similar to wndows drop down menu. Can anybody help me on these.
    Regards
    Bharath
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

But I find an issue with this. When there are items with same values in the tree, it always points to the first matched value (even if I set the active item tag to the one where I want to point to). For example, if I have  a tree with values "Hello, Hi, Bye, Hello" and then I set the value to "Hello", it points to the first "Hello" even if I set the tag to the second yellow. Do you know any easy work around for this? Thank you!

  • [struts] how to turn the mouse-arrow to a 'finger clicking hand'(like link)

    [struts]
    Hi guys,
quick question: I have an img displayed by my bean as:
"<a><img src=\"images/delete22.png\" onclick=\"openStrutsLayoutPopup('popup');return false;\"></a>";the button works ok and does its work, except one minor issue: when the user place the mouse over the delete img, the arrow doesn't turn into a 'click hand'. does anyone know how to force the arrow to turn into a hand (just like when you place the mouse arrow on a hyper-link)
    thanks

You can do that with CSS styling :
    <a style="cursor:pointer;"><img src="images/delete22.png" onclick="openStrutsLayoutPopup('popup');return false;"></a>
    <a><img style="cursor:pointer;" src="images/delete22.png" onclick="openStrutsLayoutPopup('popup');return false;" ></a>

I have a macbookpro. tryinhg to connect to new  lg tv. I purchased a mine port to hdmi converter but it only shows a wall paper. it does show the mouse arrow???

it only shows a wall paper
Then it is working! This is how it works:
Your built-in screen and you external screen are each show at sizes proportional to their pixel count. If this is not the correct arrangement, then drag the screens so that they correspond with their placement on your bench.
Then move the mouse off the edge of one screen, and it appears on the other. Next drag a window across to the other screen.

  • Mouse arrow pointer changes to a hand

In Pages my mouse pointer arrow changes to a hand - not the “baseball mitt”-type hand (that’s the best way I can describe it!) with a pointing finger that appears when using Safari and you point to a link; not that hand, but the hand you get with Adobe Reader when you’re viewing a pdf. Sometimes the hand goes away and the arrow reappears, but then the hand comes back. Sometimes I get not a hand but a cross-hair. I read somewhere that I must go to Library>Internet plug-ins, and delete Adobe Viewer plug-ins, but I went there and couldn’t find any. How can I get the arrow back permanently?
    MacBook Pro, Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013. OS X 10.9.4
    2.7 GHz Intel Core i7 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
I use Pages ’09 Version 4.3  -  Pages 5 is useless to me

Thank you for your attempt to help me, but I'm wondering if you read my post carefully enough because I said it is not the "baseball mitt" (I've also seen it described as a "Mickey Mouse glove") grab cursor/link pointer that is giving me problems, i.e. it is NOT this icon that is causing me the trouble:
What my problem is, is that sometimes when I am working in Pages (even when it is a text-only document with no images), the mouse/trackpad pointer arrow, i.e. this:
    changes into this:
This as I said, is the "Hand Tool" that I get on the screen when I read a pdf in Adobe Reader. It is a normal Adobe icon one sees all the time when one is using Adobe. See bottom right corner in the pic below.
I know that that's what it is because if I switch my Mac on in the morning to work on it, and I open Pages, and Adobe Reader is NOT open, I have no trouble and the mouse arrow pointer appears as it should. But then if I later open Adobe Reader, and read a pdf for example, when I go back to Pages, sometimes - not always - the mouse arrow will change into the Adobe Hand Tool. Sometimes it repeatedly changes between the arrow and the hand WHEN I ONLY HAVE TEXT ON THE PAGE - it has got nothing to do with hovering over images and shapes. If I want to select something from a drop-down menu, sometimes I will get the hand again (NOT the "Mickey Mouse glove") instead of the pointer arrow. It is an intermittent problem; it comes and goes. Sometimes I can work for hours and
there will be no problem, but then suddenly the problem will recur - in a Pages document with text only, no images.
By the way, the cross-hairs that appear sometimes (very seldom compared to the hand), also instead of the pointer arrow, are also the cross-hairs that I know from Adobe, not the ones that I know from Apple. There is clearly some problem of "interference" from Adobe Reader into my Pages programme - why I am I seeing icons from Adobe Reader (the hand tool and the cross-hairs) in Pages, icons that replace the arrow pointer, and how can I stop this - that's what I want to know! I might add that sometimes when I go into Adobe, this hand icon flickers very rapidly for maybe 20 seconds before it stabilises, which again indicates to me that there is some problem with it. I searched this forum some months ago to see if anyone had a similar problem, and I did find someone with exactly the same problem, but I can't find it now. The advice given to that person was to remove the Adobe Internet plug-ins, but I can't find any in Library>Internet plug-ins, and also to submit a bug feedback report to Apple (I have done that).
I might add that in Safari, the problem also happens. The arrow pointer is replaced by the hand tool - NOT by the link pointer "Mickey Mouse glove". In fact sometimes in Safari the link pointer "Mickey Mouse glove" is replaced by the hand tool.
So I hope I have made the problem clear! I don't think I have misunderstood what is going on.

  • Using Maverick in two screen setup sometimes the mouse arrow follows the menu bar when I switch screens, and sometimes not. Sometimes the menu bar is on one screen and the mouse is on the other. What am I missing?

Am looking for a simple way to move the mouse arrow to the other screen. Must I go to Apple/System prefs? I assume the mouse arrow and the menu bar should stay together. OK, but how do I access the dock when it is not on the screen with the mouse arrow? Is the Dock unmoveable? What is needed, I guess, is a master screen with mouse, dock and menu bar, and the option to select which screen is master with all those commands available.

    You're Welcome...
    Another silly suggestion...
Have you done a Restart since you were fiddling around with various settings...?

  • Mouse arrow wakes up distorted (after keyboard firmware update)

The mouse arrow take a distorted (inch wide double) form after waking up my MacBook Pro. A restart is then a must. This happens immediately after updating the keyboard firmware. I have not checked other functions yet, but cannot rule out other bugs. Your advice is badly needed.

One thing to check. Go to System Preferences>Universal Access>Mouse and Trackpad and be sure the Cursor Size slider is set to Normal. Sometimes the UA features get turned on somehow. Be sure the zoom is off too.
    Good luck!

  • Move Gradient fill with mouse arrow cs6 PS

When I fill a shape with the styles blending option, I can actually move that gradient up or down with the mouse arrow on my actual layer on my project which is nice.
However when using the shape tool palate at the top left of the photoshop screen see screen shot, I can fill this same layer with a gradient there, however I don't see where or how to move the gradient this way with the mouse.
Does this work on both options? or just the blending option styles way?

You can't move the gradient with the options bar gradient drop-down, but you can edit and move the gradient by bringing up the Gradient Fill dialog.

  • When I power up my mac, I see the white screen and the apple icon. After a few seconds of powering up the screen goes dark. Yet I still can the mouse arrow but nothing else.

When I power up my Imac, I see the white screen and the apple icon. After a few seconds the screen goes dark. I am able to still see the mouse arrow as I move it around. But nothing else. What is the problem and how do I recover?

    Try this from another user:
    1. Shut the computer down by holding the power button for 10 seconds
    2. Restart the computer and press shift at the same time until you see the progress bar start moving
    3. Once you reach the point where your screen goes dark and you see the cursor, type the first letter of the username for your computer, then hit Enter, then type your password, then hit Enter.
    4. After a moment, you should see the spinning beach ball
    5. Your screen should then move on to something along the lines of "Completing OSX Installation" (I can't remember the exact wording). Let it finish. After that it should go to your normal desktop and the issue should be fixed. (If your screen goes pitch black during this process, hit the space bar. I thought it wasn't working, but the screen was just sleeping).

  • Mouse arrow jumps around on the screen

mouse arrow jumps around on the screen

My iMac is unusable! If I click on a file the highlite runs down to the last file in the folder
When I boot up the hilight jumps all over the screen until it arrives at my startup drive.
If I type something and make an error it cannot be corrected, the cursor dances back to the begining of the sentence.
When clicking on the tool bar, eg. Safari "file" the cursor moves to all the other menu bar options.
I use "MacKeeper" for virus control. For a while it wouldn't load. Zeobit was able to correct that problem by remotely going into my computer and fixing everything the needed to be fixed. They solved that problem and the computer seemed fine. MacKeeper is currently checking all of my drives and partions. They also updated my virus library. This was yesterday (9/15/2012).
I scanned my startup disk this morning and it was clean. I also scanned two of my external drives as well as my internal drive. So far all are clean.  7 Drives to go.
I am running OSX 10.8.1 on an early 2008 iMac.
    4 GB RAM
    1.5 GB startup drive
3 external drives running on UBS via two docks.
3 External WD 2T external drives.
    3 MyBooks drives via Firewire.
A total of 9 external drives with 15 partitions. All are Western Digital.
There has never been an issue with this configuration. I've been using Apple products since the "Fat Mac", twenty or so years. So I know my way around my macs, at least enough to solve any problems that have occured.
There are no authorized Apple techs in the country of Panama. Would sure appreciate help on this.

  • After iTunes 10 mouse arrow.

After having iTunes 10 since it's release I've had issues with the mouse arrow changing and becoming slightly larger with a weird shadow surrounding it. I don't know how to really explain it and why it appears. It does occur when I have to click on several things in iTunes. I have to close everything for it to go away. Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?
    Thanks
