Mouse back/forward buttons no longer work in v29

firefox 29
windows 8.1 update (1) - IE all M$ updates installed
logitech M570 mouse
my mouse back and forward buttons no longer work in v29. i tried FF safe mode, i tried with logitech setpoint 6.5 enabled and disabled, resetting setpoint. i don't want to "reset firefox" because i just did a fresh windows install and fresh firefox 28 install before upgrading to FF29 a few days later.....
BTW the back/forward buttons work in all other installed programs as well as FF28 in my windows 7 machine.
thanks in advance for any replies....

apologies for another reply. also, the back/forward icons (to the left of the URL area) work just fine. it's only the mouse buttons that don't work and after years of using them, i REALLY miss them!
thanks

  • Why are the back/forwards buttons no longer working after upgrade?

Hi, I recently upgraded from Firefox 3.5 (I believe) to Firefox 4.0.1 and now the back and forwards buttons no longer work. I tried resetting the settings under the toolbars > customize, etc. That didn't work. FYI, I'm using a mac. Any solutions? Thanks in advance...

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • After upgrading to FF4, my back, forward, buttons no longer work

After I upgraded to FF4, my back, forward, and refresh buttons no longer work. I have tried restarting with Addons disabled, still an issue. Even the Alt-back arrow does not work. As well, the URLs no longer appear in the address box when I use Most Visited shortcuts.

duh, I thought that I had disabled all the addons, but I hadn't. The culprit turned out to be: Favicon Picker 2 0.6.1.14.

After disabling this add-on, everything went back to normal.

  • Back & forward buttons won't work after going full screen

I have a Logitech cordless mouse. When ever I'm watching a
video, like on You Tube, and I go to full screen, my mouse
back/forward buttons won't work, and I have to re boot my computer.
I have tried every thing Logitech told me to do, but still have the
problem. They think it's a flash player problem. I saw that one
other person in the forums has the same problem. Any ideas?
    Thanks, Shawn.

I can't find the preferences section of itunes. where is it because it isn't at the very top of the screen and I didn't see it anywhere else. i hasn't told me that the back-up is corrupted so I don't know about that. I just know that it always comes up with the error message 50 when I try to get the back-up restored to it.

  • My back/forward buttons don't work - have done 'reset toolbars and controls', but they still don't work

When I downloaded the latest version I got a new screen with the orange Firefox tab at the top. That was fine, I could find what I wanted, but back/forward buttons didn't work. I checked the help section and went right through the suggestions down to 'reset toolbars and controls' - this did reset and I lost the orange box - that doesn't matter, but the back/forward buttons still don't work.

Do you have more than one tab open? If you didn't go to another site in a single tab, then yes, the buttons will be greyed out. If you went somewhere in another tab, then those sites should be accessible by right clicking either button.

  • Why do the back/forward arrows no longer work - they are grayed out?

When I start a new Firefox window or tab the back/forward arrows do not work and are grayed out. I can get previous sites by right click. I also get an orange "Firefox" dropdown tab in the upper left corner. It appears as though I have a Firefox window on top of a regular window.

  • My firefox 5.0 does not respond to the mouse (back/forward) buttons. Is there a fix for this? I already updated my drivers.

It is pretty much what I have stated. It works fine in other applications like IE, explorer but not for Firefox.
I am running Windows 7 64bit with setpoint control centre version 6.30.41 and driver version 5.30.67.
My mouse is the performance mx.

This seemed to be a recurrent solution 2004-2006, and looks the same as what you found for yourself.
:In the Set Point software, set the forward and back buttons to "other," Then select "generic button" from the drop down list for both of them.

  • Back/Forward button tweak not working

I've tried Rick Stone's Skinny on Skins suggestion for
tweaking the code to make the Back and Forward buttons to work for
navigation. To refresh, the Back and Forward buttons only work for
Previous and Next topics for browse sequences. Back and Forward for
topic navigation are not enabled for WebHelp. The tweaking is
supposed to make it work for Back and Foward. I have tried his
suggestion, and the code resests itself to the original (to support
    browse sequences) upon compilation.
    Any suggestions?
    Danni

Ok, I spoke to soon. The new buttons show up in the Preview
of the edited skin, but when I re-generate, the buttons do not show
up at all once I view the result, however, when I preview them
again in the edited skin dialog box, they are there. Any
    suggestions?
I tried to use a different skin and that didn't work. In
addition, I imported some new skins from Adobe's site, and they
aren't showing up in my skin folder in RoboHelp (in my project
folder, labeled !SkinSubFolder!), but are showing up in Windows
Explorer. So I can't choose any of the new skins I've imported. Why
    is this happeneing?
This type of thing keeps happening in my project. This has
also happened with my baggage files. I add them, compile, they are
there, and then mysteriously disappear after a little while.
Sometimes I can get them back, most times not. Do you think these
    two problems are interrelated?

  • Mouse back/forward buttons don't respond after exiting from full screen Flash video

Yeah. Has anyone else encountered this? After viewing a full
screen video (YouTube, Hulu) and exiting (via the ESC button), the
back and foward buttons on my mouse stop responding. Really!
Usually I will have to go back into a full-screen video twice for
the buttons to get "stuck," and then it takes them several minutes
    to regain their functionality.
I've had this going on for over a year now, and I'm finally
sick of it enough to where I want to get some help. I've narrowed
it down to the Flash player as being the culprit, and it happens on
    every browser I've tried it on (Firefox 3: RC2, RC1, Beta5; Firefox
    2; IE7; IE6; Safari 3.x). This started happening when I upgraded
the Flash Player and the first offending version would be the one
that introduced the current full screen Flash video technology. I'm
    guessing it was 9.0.
I have a Logitech MediaPlay wireless mouse, Win XP SP2. I
have the latest version of Flash and the most up-to-date mouse
    drivers.

I have the same exact problem, only a different model
Logitech. Have you found a solution? Thanks, Shawn.

  • The back/forward button no longer has a drop-down list of previous pages visited in that tab: or is this accessible some other way?

The question says it all, really. I just installed Firefox 4, and noticed a significant (for me) reduction in utility: in the previous version, the back button used to have a drop-down arrow which showed the previous pages visited in a particlular tab, and allowed you to go back several pages in one go, if you wanted to (say, when browsing a series of sites to buy something or other). Firefox 4 no longer has this facility, which I personally found very useful from time to time.
Is it available by some other means? If not, maybe I should consider reverting to the previous version, which suited me better, in this regard at least.

Just put the little arrow back into the system. Fix this now. I don't want 2 other options. Get this right for "nontech" people.

  • Back/Forward buttons have stopped working how do i enable them

I have no details other than it no longer functions

Connect the iPod to your computer and restore from backup.
If still a problem, restore to factory defaults/new iPod
If still a problem then you likey have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • ITunes 8 forward button doesn't work

Ever since upgrading the forward button no longer works. When I hit it, the current song stops playing, and I have to hit it again to go to the next one.
Is this something others are experiencing?

Very very strange. It seems like it resolved itself once I switched back and forth from shuffle to nonshuffle. If anyone else has this issue, try that, maybe it with you too.

  • When using Firefox as my browser, my "back" button no longer works? And by the way...getting help is a real pain in the butt on this site!!!!!

    see -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Kill_application
which explains how to completely exit (quit) your Mozilla application
    Try closing Firefox completely
*Close Firefox properly '''File > Exit''', not with the "X" which just closes the window.
*Use the Windows Task Manager "Processes" tab to make sure that firefox.exe is not running and also that the plugin-container.exe is not running.
If that does not work, try restarting the system.
If still no luck try restoring bookmarks from last backup, or better create your own .json backup and restore from that.
*''If you had to go this far, please provide feedback if restoring bookmarks alone fixed the problem. I think I may have done that once with success, but never see that suggested -- I'd try most anything to not lose history or bookmarks. But then I could restore files from my profile and restore latest bookmarks backup from current profile.''
The following will result in complete loss of history if it comes down to deleting places.sqlite, so rename files rather than deleting. With Firefox down.
Of course you have backups of your profile you could replace rename and
    replace those files instead.

  • With version 5 of Firefox, if I open more than 1 session, most of the time I cannot see anything in the navigation bar and my back and forward buttons do not work.

I open 1 session of Firefox 5.0.1 and everything seems to work fine. Then I open a second session of Firefox and most of the time the navigation bar does not show the page that I am on and the back and forward buttons do not work. When this happens, the first session always remains working. I am an internet marketer so I have at least 2 or 3 sessions going at any given time.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
