Mouse but no keyboard on my mini 10.4.8

hi guys
ive recently bought an apple bluetooth mouse and keyboard direct from apple to use with my mini mac. The mini I have has no bluetooth internally so i have bought a belkin usb jobbie.
The mouse and my mobile connects just fine and works like a dream, the keyboard struggles to connect and when it does connect it just looses signal after a few seconds. I sent the keyboard back as I thought it was faulty and have another new one but that does the same!
Ive tried the usb in both the usb ports in the back, ive also tried different combo's of switching on and off suggested on previous threads. Im defo not out of range as ive tried it directly next to the bluetooth usb.
i am running 10.4.8
i was thinking of trying it through a usb hub or an extension lead...
Anyone got any other ideas! i need help!

i borrowed a mates unbranded 5.99 usb bluetooth dongle and it all works perfectly. belkin thanks for nothing

I have just replaced my mac mini because previous motherboard was damaged. I want to pair with my existing wireless keyboard and mouse but can only pair with thebold mac mini which will not start. Any ideas?

You should be able to go to System Preferences -> Keyboard and System Preferences -> Mouse and discover the bluetooth devices.
Also, do you have a bluetooth icon on the top bar of your mac? Should look sort of like this:
If you can figure out which device is which (by trial and error, if nothing else), you can connect to them on this menu.

Regarding your first question about bookmarks, I think you discovered the answer in when you pressed the address bar. The second tab there has your bookmarks.
As for the keyboard, I'm not sure why your Firefox is reacting so slowly; mine seems to show keyboards even when I don't want them. If you have accumulated a lot of history, perhaps that's an issue?
Did you use any third party software to move your Firefox data from internal memory to the storage card?

Go to the Bluetooth icon on the menu bar and select "Set Up Bluetooth Device". Follow the wizard.
Alternatively, if you haven't yet unboxed and setup the Mini, you can pair the keyboard to the Mini (and possibly the mouse). However, I would set up with a USB keyboard and mouse and pair the Bluetooth devices afterwards.

I would like to AirPlay mirror my iMac and be able to use both my magic mouse and wireless keyboard, but the bluetooth range won't let me. Is there a way to extended its range?

I am buying an iMac to AirPlay mirror on my big screen TV with AppleTV (2nd generation). But my TV is located far away from my iMac and I won't be able to use my magic mouse or wireless keyboard via bluetooth connection. I know I can use an app to simulate both mouse and keyboard, but I really need to use the actual devices.
I wish there was a way to pair them to my iPad or iPhone, via bluetooth, and control my iMac via network. It is a cheap solution, as I wouldn't need to buy any other device. I believe all these devices, without modifications, have enough technology to be able to work as I've imagined. The only need was to adapt the software.
Is there a solution simple as this one, or do I have to buy a Bluetooth extender in order to use my magic mouse and wireless keyboard? If so, which BT extender do you suggest and what is its range?

Every once in a while I will be in an application - at least my mouse works in that application, but my keyboard doesn't appear to be working. Then I look at the title bar, and even though my mouse is making my Firefox or iTunes scroll like normal - the title bar says I'm running Mail.
So I tab over to the application my mouse thinks I am in, and now my keyboard and mouse are using the same application.
This happens maybe once a week or so, and I haven't been able to do it on command.
Is this a known issue?

On my MacBook I can use the trackpad to scroll (with two finders) a window of an application that's not "in front". I consider the ability to scroll a window that doesn't have "the focus" to be a feature, not a bug. If you want to give the window of that other application the focus, just click in it.

Apple Wireless Mouse - No Longer Pairs with Mac Mini?

I've had an Apple Wireless Keyboard and an Apple Wireless Mouse for several months. Unfortunately, the Apple Wireless Mouse no longer pairs with the Mac Mini (Core Duo, 1.66) -- it is getting very frustrating.
I've tried rebooting the machine, restarting the mouse, and nothing works. Sometimes I get the Bluetooth Setup Assistant which says that it found 1 Mouse, but it failed to pair.
I replaced the batteries, but nothing changes.
Help!

Normally that's caused by debris under the trackball preventing the rollers from moving. Turn the mouse upside down and rub the trackball Vigorously with a microfiber cloth.
The symptoms are usually that scroll will work one direction but not the other.

Mouse buttons and keyboard randomly stop responding on secondary display

Hey,
I'm facing this weird problem after a recent upgrade to Snow Leopard:
In about half of the cases I'm switching to application windows on a secondary/external display the mouse buttons and Macbook keyboard are unresponsive. I have to keep clicking/pressing for some time or have to switch between applications to get them working, until they'll fail again after some time.
I tested it with two different external displays with VGA and DVI adapter, different screen resolutions, I tested the mouse and mouse software, both keyboard and mouse work fine with the same applications moved to the primary laptop screen, trackpad works fine too.
This occurred after the upgrade to Snow Leopard on a 2008 unibody Macbook. Updates to 10.6.2 didn't solve the problem.
I'd be happy if anyone could help me with this issue.

You do not provide the full model number but if it is an AMD processor you are seeing the start of video issues that plague that series. The freeze is caused by bad video memory which is a part of the video card in turn part of the motherboard. I have been getting a high percentage of people who do not respond back to posts so I am not going to write everything about your issue; it could be a book. I am happy to help further if you have any questions. There are some repair options but at the end of the day, you might want to consider a new laptop.

MSI K8N Diamond Posting but then keyboard not working or frezzing

To save me writing it all again here is what i sent to MSI tch support. Would like to add to what i have wrote below that when it freezes i get a sound like fast clicks coming from the case speaker . Oh and also have tried removing battery for a while. I get the feeling it more than just a keyboard problem and is something more seriouse.
After reading here i should also have added the powr supply voltage stuff but i am in a diferent house using my mothers PC. I know the 12v was 17amp but not sure about 5 and 3v. I think 5 was in 30s and maybe same for 3v. I will check tjhat later but i dont think it a power problem although to run SLI i will have to get a new power supply by looks of it. I have tried disconecting everything except the Graphics card and the processor to minimise power needed. My PCU was £50 and it didnt say what the amps where for 12 5 and 3v before i baught it or i wouldnt have. though with it being 480w and £50+ it would be good enough to run any PC i could build. Anyhow i dont think it that i get feeling the BOIS is corrupted or something but without keyboard going i cant flash my BOIS. Also i have since noticed that the processe i have isnt listed as one supported on MSI web site. I purchased the motherboard from DABS and in specs it said it supported all 64 and X2 AMD processors. Anyhow please help me if you can
Oh and in post where it freezes it lists my processor as a AMD Hammer model unknown?. Dont think that right for the 3000X2 but i cant be sure.

Problem Description: I have just built my own PC with one of your motherboards. You can see the configuration above. The problem i am having is that when i start it up it begins ok but then says CMOS error loading safe defaults or somthing simalar. under that it says press f11 (i think it is) to continue or del to enter setup. Problem is i dont think my keyboard is initilalising. I have tried 3 diferent keyboards all PS2 conections. But non of then seem to work and i can not get into set up. I have tried resetting the BOIS with the BOIS reset botton. Also i have noticed that the keyboard LED light that usually light up when keyboard is working are not lighting up as if they not getting power. It list my memory. 1gb of it but it says my Prcessor is AMD but of unknown model. I am guessing i could sort that if i could get into the BOIS or get keyboard working and update the BOIS maybe. The USB conection bracket that comes with the motherboard that has 4 diagnosis lights on it stop when they get to 3 RED and 1 Green in top right pos.In manual it says this is (Initializing Floppy Drive Controller).
It was stopping before with 2 GREEN and 2 RED. A Green in top Left and Bottom Right and A RED at top right and bottom left. In the manual it says this is(BIOS Sign On). When it was stopping there it stopped on the MSI graphics Full Screen LOGO Display. It said press delete to enter setup ot TAB to goto POST but as now keyboard didnt seem to work. I removed the Wirless network card that comes with the mother board and now it goeas past this screen but gets stuck at the part i said above.
I have now tried removing things one by one. I have so far removed all CD and DVD devices, Hard drives, Floppy drive and network Card. Also i have removed the extra netwok bracket conectors. I now only have the Memeory, Processor and the Graphics cards installed. I would like to mention also that before i had installed the 2 graphics cards i had tested it and it was stopping at the (BIOS Sign On) I could tell this with the 4 LED light for diagnosis. I thought that was due only to no graphics cards but once i installed them it was same. I only got by that by removing wirlessnetwork card that comes with the mother board. Please respons quickly as i am building this as a chrismas pressent for my daughter and it would be a disaster if i cant get it going before christmas.

You are building a very nice system for your daughter. It is however a very power hungry system. I suspect that your present PSU cannot provide enough sustained amperage annd wattage to its 12 volt rail to satisfy your motherboard and peripherals needs. My recommendation are that you acquire a new PSU that will provide a minimum of 24 amps on its single 12 volt rail. If you get a multi-12 volts rail one; insure that it will provide a minimum of 18 Amps on each 12 volt rails. Wattage should also be sufficient to leave you a minimum of 300 wats available for the 12 volt rail(s). Look at a 500 + watt PSU from a reputable OEM.
You may also have by now a very conmfused BIOS/CMOS so before you go shopping for PSU do the following:
1- Turn off, unplug and remopve old PSU:
2- Reset CMOS using Button (if CMOS Jumpers available reset CMOS with them too and leave in reset position)
3- Remove battery form motherboard
4- Go shopping for new PSU and buy a new battery for motherboard while at it (they are relatively cheap)
5- Install new motherboard battery and reset CMOS jumper if needed
6- Re-install PSU and connect to only needed items (motherboard X 2, one VGA card only, one HD, and one CD)
7- Try re-booting straight to BIOS setup and then reset its options to suit your system, (pay particular attention to RAM voltage)
8- Save and exit to a Memtest86 disk and run for min 8 hours with no errors
9- if OK suggest you reset and load your OS from a stream installation CD with only minimum peripherals attached.
10- Once your OS is onboard then add other peripherals

Not a solution, I'm afraid, just concurring -- I am experiencing a very similar problem with the keyboard, but not the mouse pointer. I get an intermittent temporary freeze lasting maybe ten seconds, after which it recovers. Although I suspect waking the machine from sleep may set these off, I couldn't swear to it, and I have experienced several of these sequentially, maybe five minutes apart.

The cursor on my iMac freezes, and I cannot do anything unless I unplug the computer. It is NOT a problem with the mouse or the keyboard ... it is internal. How do I fix this??
