Mouse click behavior

I have three macs. My new mini behaves a little differently and I want to know what I'm doing wrong. Usually when I click on a folder and drag it down to the desktop it moves by it self (simple normal drag and drop)....But on my mac mini 80% of the time I click on the file and drag it down it begins selecting all the files below it....Im being very careful and clicking specifically on the icon and Ive tried different mice and track pads....Please help as its infuriating......
Thanks and cheers.

Is this while you are in a finder window? Does it seem to be only one file you are having the problem with or are there others?

  • Changing mouse click behavior on JTable

    Hi everybody,
    The default behavior of a mouse click on a jTable is selection of the cell.
    I would like to change the behavior so when the user clicks once on the cell, the content can be marked and is ready to change. That would give the user the same feeling as Excel.
    Is there any way that I can do this without writing a new mouse/event handler?
    thanks,

    With a call to getSelectionModel() of JTable, you can get a reference to the ListeSelectionModel.
    This is in fact an instance of DefaultListSelectionModel, which allows you to set a new listener object using addListSelectionListener(ListSelectionListener l).
    All you have to do then is implement a custom ListSelectionListener which handles events as you want.
    Unfortunately there isnt going to be a way of avoiding writing a Listener, but this is how you would go about it.

  • Issues with "wait until mouse click"

    when I put wait until mouse click it doesn't register mouse down or mouse up. Because of that, my game is sloppy and skips some scenes if I accidentally hold down my mouse for more than a split-second click. Is there any way to manipulate the wait for mouse click behavior so it works only when the mouse button is released?

    Hmm, I wonder if he figured it out already, since he didn't even answer your question.  He seems to be talking about the built-in "Wait for Mouse Click or Key Press" behavior in the behavior library.  Sometimes those behaviors can become overly complicated for the simplest of things.  I recommend you just go ahead and roll your own frame script, as EtchK was implying.  It's pretty easy, you just need two short handlers:
    on exitFrame
      go to the frame
    end
    on mouseUp
    -- do whatever
    end

  • How do I set my project to advance to next slide on mouse click vs just play?

    Captivate 6 on mac running OS 10.7.5 file format in question .htm (firefox)
    I'm brand new to Captivate 6 (never used it before) I have put together a mock presentation from scratch which has a few introductory slides then a quiz. When I publish it there is a "play" button which is NOT the behavior I want.
    I watched a training video from Lynda.com and the insstructor imported a PPT file, there was a dialog box which asked the how to advance slide, there was a drop down menu and one of two options was advance "on mouse click". This is the behavior I'm looking for.
    I've scoured the internet and forums etc to find a comparable option elsewhere in Captivate 6 when creating from scratch vs importing from PPT and cannot find one anywhere. I've also read that you can insert a click box object and that that would do what I'm looking for but that doesn't work either.
    Does any such option exist and if so where/ how do I get to it/ use it. Please see attachments below. First screen shot is the first slide I get which isn't the first slide either, what's up with that? Next one is simply to show how the project just "plays" instead of advancing slide by slide. Third is my publish dialog box. Bottom line I don't want a "play" button I want the user to mouse click next, next, next etc. How do I do this?
    Thank you for any help or suggestions!

    Maybe I understand something wrongly, but thought you also wanted to know how you can make slides advance on clicking the Next button instead of having it playing on automatically? And instead of using the playbar you want to have a Previous and Next button?
    The way imported PPT with advance on Mouse click works is because there is a click box added to each slide that pauses that slide at its end. The user has to click on the slide to advance.
    A click box is an 'interactive' object: this means that you can have it pausing the slide, that the user can interact with it and trigger an action like 'Go to Next Slide'.
    You added (from what I see on the last screenshot) another interactive object, but now I'm confused: the third screenshot has a Prev and Next arrow, I think those are shapes. You do not need to add a click box on top of them (what I see on the last screenshot), they can be converted themselves into buttons. I blogged a lot about those shape buttons. Anyway, both click box and shape button can pause the slide. This is the case by default for click boxes (at the end of their duration, their timeline), for shape buttons you have to tell them to pause in the Timing accordion. In your case I certainly would choose a shape button because they can be put on a master slide, or timed for the rest of the project whereas Click boxes need to be unique on each slide, you'l have a lot of copy/paste to do then. In the Action accordion, On Success you choose the action, I think in this case you want 'Go to Next Slide' for the Next 'thing'
    As for the first screenshot, Rod explained that you cannot get rid of the play button for pdf output, but you can have a poster image instead of the blank screen. There is a folder icon in Preferences, Project, Start and End when you deselect AuotPlay.
    Here is a link to an article where I explain shape buttons:
    http://lilybiri.posterous.com/why-i-like-shape-buttons-captivate-6
    There is an on-demand webinar as well on the Adobe site which I presented, only about shape buttons.

  • Lost keypresses and mouse clicks:  Hardware problem?

    I recently bought an Intel MBP, and I've been noticing strange behaviors with regard to keypresses and mouse (touchpad) clicks getting lost sometimes. The problems I'm having are hard to reproduce intentionally, but I can hear the keypresses and mouse button clicks when I do them, yet nothing happens. While it's possible, that I sometimes am hitting the wrong key, I have been paying closer attention lately to this problem, and of course, the mouse button kinda hard to hit incorrectly. Here are some examples of weird things I encounter:
    If I click in a text field in Safari, sometimes the first keypress (and only the first) will get lost.
    Sometimes, the first keypress I type right after clicking gets lost. For instance, just now, I noticed a typo in the above sentence, so I clicked on the character and hit the Delete key. The cursor was in the right place, but the delete didn't happen. I had to press the key again.
    Sometimes, even when the window for sure has focus and the pointer is squarely pointing to a link, the first click on the link won't take. I have to click it again. Since Safari doesn't have adequate feedback for when you click something, that can get particularly frustrating. Similar things happen with buttons in applications or on the title bar.
    If I'm using an X11 app, and I copy/paste with the clipboard, the touchpad won't respond to movement for 2 or 3 seconds afterward. This is particularly visible with "nedit". I don't think this is an "ignore accidental touchpad input" issue, because this only happens with clipboard actions; other keys don't have this effect. I haven't noticed this with native apps.
    However, I have noticed in X11 and native apps, sometimes, Ctrl/Cmd-C and Ctrl/Cmd-V will be ignored. They're never ignored if I selected the text using the keyboard (shift+arrows), but if I select the text with the mouse and then use the shortcut to copy, the copy/paste sometimes doesn't happen.
    I have noticed that if I am more deliberate about clicks (make sure to hold the button down longer), the probability of losing the event SEEMS to be reduced, but not eliminated. Is there a debounce circuit involved that's causing me trouble?
    This kind of loss of input is unusual to me. I have a number of Windows and Linux PCs, and I've never experienced this sort of thing. I've also used a few Macs at school before I got this one and didn't notice anything weird.
    Can anyone shed some light on this for me? It would seem odd that I should have to modify my keyboard/mouse using behavior when switching to the Mac. If the problem is hardware, how can I prove it? (Perhaps I could boot Knoppix from a CD and mess around a bit.) If the problem is software, is this a case of MacOS trying to second-guess user input?
    Thanks!

    Theosib,
    Apple regularly monitors these boards, but you may never see a response from Apple directly. Assume this is a user to user forum. If you are having a problem with the computer and need a response from Apple call 1-800-APLCARE and speak to customer relations at that office if the technician is not able to satisfy your needs.
    Your problem while not unheard of, is more uncommon than the boards may make you believe.
    Remember, Spotlight is constantly indexing. If your hard drive is overfull, it may take longer for Spotlight to index, thus cause a multitasking delay. If you have many Dashboard widgets, they may all be trying to access the net for updates at once, and again, a delay might happen. I've written a FAQ* about several other factors which may affect Mac OS X speed, which could in theory also affect keyboard input:
    http://www.macmaps.com/Macosxspeed.html
    And of course, you should always check Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse to make sure your input settings are the ones most comfortable for you when using the keyboard. It is possible a repeat rate could cause a delay.
    Edit: I attempted to answer another of your questions here recently with an update:
    http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=3988468
    Please take a look and see if it answers your question.

  • IMac mid 2010 not responding to mouse clicks for mac software

    I have a mid 2010 iMac 16 gb ram running 10.10.2.  My problem started a wk ago when the iMac wouldn't respond to the track pad's click.  I did change the trackpad which did not help. I also noted that this behavior was mostly w/ Mac software (with the obvious exception of safari.)  I can not retrieve email w/ the mail.app. Can not use pages to finish work that needs done.  I can open programs but once opened can't navigate.  I can scroll but mouse clicks either B/T or USB fail. I have restarted in SAFE mode - no joy - I ran disk warrior - told me all was just fine. I rest the SMC nothing.

  • Can spark datagrid mouse click be disabled while in a custom item editor?

    Hi,
    Is it possible to prevent a user from clicking on another cell in a datagrid until the cell currently being edited has had its data saved?
    I would like to validate the cell's text data as it is being entered by a user, character by character.  If the validation fails, I would like to put up an error message and prevent the user from clicking outside of the cell.  I am able to validate the data and put up an error message.  But I have not found a way, if there is one, of disabling mouse clicks in other cells.  I've tried setting the IE's parent.editable, .enabled and .mouseEnabled properties to false.  But none of these are working for me.
    Thanks,
    -Adobegillisisle2

    The session does stay if I hit the TAB or RETURN keys.  I return false from my overridden save() function and the session stays keeping the user in the edit cell, allowing fixing the invalid data.   But I don't get the same behavior when I click the mouse on another cell.  In these cases, my save function is still called, and I still return false ( in the case where the validation fails ), but the edit session goes away.

  • Middle mouse click no longer works after recent update

    I noticed after updating about 3 days ago that clicking the scroll wheel no longer acts as middle click on my MX Revolution mouse from logitech anymore. Pressing on the scroll wheel use to act as middle mouse click, now it just switches between scroll modes. I would like to have the former functionality returned as I really like to be able to open links in new tabs and paste with just one click.
    Does anyone know how I could get this functionality working again on this mouse? All other button functions work as they did prior to the update that changed my scroll wheel click behavior.
    Thanks for any help with this matter and please let me know if any other information is needed to diagnosis this problem.

    After a simple reboot or pacman -Syu, do you backup to roll back ? Can you mention which packages/files were updated?
    Yes the mouse works in windows, but logitech provides a configuration utility for it and so I use that set it up. In linux there is no such utility to configure the mouse. There use to be btnx and that worked great but it's no longer in the repos or AUR so I don't use that anymore. I haven't done pacman -Sc or pacman -Scc in a while so I should still have the packages to roll back, but I'm not sure what package update caused this. Here is a list of the of packages that were updated just before this started happening, from pacman.log...

  • Lose of focus (mouse click/enter key)

    Hello,
    we have a problem customers are complaining about for quite a while now, but despite our efforts, we can not fix it or at least determine with certainty the problem cause.
    We have an application launching forms apps, and from time-to-time we completely lose the focus on this form (generally after typing ENTER in a filter), I mean by focus, we cannot click anymore (cursor seems to stay on a object), we cannot press enter anymore (we get a 'Not defined key function') and so on...
    I heard somewhere that it could be due to 'KEY-OTHERS' trigger not handling correctly the ENTER-KEY. But I need this trigger for my filters, or is there another way? KEY_ENTER does only navigate from field to another.
    I found something which was able to remove focus lost (kind of a hack while trying to fix this on an on), but the problem is I had to remove this, because it blocks the opening of new windows or popups. It was a mouse-click trigger on forms triggers level:
    Go_Record(:System.Mouse_record);
    Go_Item(:System.Mouse_Item);
    But this blocks any window opening, and it also blocks some other tools we have developed.
    Thanks,
    Best regards,
    G.
    EDIT: Forms 11g, and I am pretty sure we had not that much problems with 10g
    EDIT2: I read the same kind of topics in the forum, but no patch seems to help
    AND we use JRE 1.7....
    Edited by: lakers on Jan 14, 2013 11:56 PM
    Edited by: lakers on Jan 14, 2013 11:59 PM

    this problem occurs with some of versions of JRE. Try with JRE JInitiator 1.3.1.22. Also unstalled all others JRE if exists.
    A file called fmrpcweb.res has also been provided which gives the Microsoft Windows client/server keyboard mappings. To use this file, rename fmrpcweb.res to fmrweb_orig.res, and copy fmrpcweb.res to fmrweb.res. Alternatively, use the term parameter as described above.
    By default, whether deploying client/server or over the Web pressing the ENTER key takes the cursor to the next navigable item in the block. To override this default behavior it is necessary to modify the forms resource file to revise the key mapping details.
    Modify fmrweb.res and change the Forms Function Number (FFN) from 27 to 75 for the Return Key. The line should be changed to the following:
    10 : 0 : "Return" : 75 : "Return"
    By default, the line is displayed with an FFN of 27 and looks as follows:
    10 : 0 : "Return" : 27 : "Return"
    This line should NOT fire the Key-Enter trigger since the Return or Enter key is actually returning the Return function represented by the FFN of 27. The FFN of 75 represents the Enter function and fires the Key-Enter trigger.

    please mark correct/helpful if problem is solved..

  • Shifting of GUI Co-ordinate system when Mouse clicked

    In my JDK 1.2.2 / Swing based application I have this problem of change in coordinate values (x,y) when a mouse click is used. This problem occurs sometimes and reason cannot be traced.
    For e.g. If a user clicks "on" a Button the button is not affected , but the Button is pressed when the user clicks just "above" the button. When this problem arises it happens for all GUI components in the screen like textfield , combobox , table rows etc.
    I hope the forum has answer / hint for this untraceable & intermittent problem.
    Thanks in advance

    1) What OS are you using?
    2) Did you try the app on a different machine?
    - If yes, and it worked OK, make sure you have the newest video drivers installed on your system.
    - If no, then beg/steal/borrow another machine to try it on, or:
    3) (better still) post your entire code if it's not too big, or failing that, post a compilable/runnable subset of your code which shows the same behavior, so we can try it out.

  • How to override Ctrl-Click behavior in Java L&F

    On the Mac, Ctrl-Click is the popup trigger. While Java L&F designers were obviously aware of this (it is warned about in the Java Look and Feel Design Guidelines, 2nd ed, page 106). However, just two pages later (page 108), they then generically specifify that Ctrl-Click is used in lists and tables to toggle the selection.
    The implementation of the Java L&F does not appear to consider the Mac's use of Ctrl-Click and still toggles selection. If there is an additional mouse listener that shows a menu in response to the popup trigger, it will ALSO open the menu on Ctrl-Click.
    What is the best way to overide the Ctrl-Click behavior in JTable etc. to NOT do the toggle selection? Note that this is a mouse event and not a key event, so it can't be turned off or changed by the getActionMap() mechanism.
    Also, does anyone know what the "Command" modifier on the Mac (Command-Click is supposed to toggle selection on Macs) shows up as in the InputEvent (isMetaDown(), isAltGraphDown()...)?

    Try extending the JList and override the processMouseEvent(MouseEvent evt) method and show your popup menu when the user clicks the mouse while holding the CTRL key down. The code below demonstrates the same.
    import java.awt.BorderLayout;
    import java.awt.event.MouseEvent;
    import java.util.Vector;
    import javax.swing.JFrame;
    import javax.swing.JList;

              JList list = new MyList(items);
              JScrollPane scroller = new JScrollPane(list);
              getContentPane().add(scroller, BorderLayout.CENTER);
              pack();

                   System.out.println(evt.isPopupTrigger());
                   int onmask = MouseEvent.CTRL_DOWN_MASK | MouseEvent.BUTTON1_DOWN_MASK;
                   if(evt.getModifiersEx() == onmask) {
                        JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(this, "Control + click");

                        super.processMouseEvent(evt);

  • Odd GUI mouse pointer behavior

    I have noticed since Lion came out the ability to resize from any window edge has seemed to have brought with it a minor annoyance. The mouse pointer form persists as an up-pointing arrow after the pointer leaves the bottom edge of an application if it is brought down to butt with the dock. Ought it not return to the "main" form of the familiar heftier-looking black arrow pointing to an approximate 11 o'clock direction?
    Also, along the same lines I have noticed that if Stacks list-style menus overlap hyperlinks in Safari and you hover your mouse pointer over those areas of overlapping the pointer turns into the hand-with-an-index-finger-pointing type of pointer form. The clicking behavior remains true as one would expect and clicks the item in the Stack menu while leaving the stuff underneath alone.
    Does anyone else get any of this strange behavior? I am putting it in Mountain Lion because it is also in 10.8 as it was in 10.7 Lion. It was not in 10.6 Snow Leopard and I am somewhat convinced that the "any edge resizing" feature is responsible for bringing this about.

    I had to reinstall Mountain Lion and I am having the same mouse problem in Safari with a hand appearing at certain times. I never had that problem in prior iterations of OS X nor in Mountain Lion until I had to reinstall it. The hand it too large to figure out where it is when I want to insert something in text. I suppose it's the pointing index finger, but I want my arrow pointer back!

    I have tried out the code in this article in ASP.Net web forms with c#  and javascript.
    I am using Ajax to call the C# from Javascript and load the data from database.
    I have used following article to show the pushpins and there infoboxes.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/rbrundritt/archive/2013/11/08/multiple-pushpins-and-infoboxes-in-bing-maps-v7.aspx?CommentPosted=true#commentmessage
    My code works great on IE 11 , when I have compatibility mode on,
    but when compatibility mode is off, the mouse click event is not being received by the Javascript function.
    Is this expected behavior of bing maps, Are there any workarounds for this problem?
    Thanks
    Nate

    Hi Ricky, I have tried using Chrome and I see the same issue. The mouse events are not being captured.
    Here is my code

  • Ctrl + Mouse Click to Advance - Possible?

    In the course I'm working on, I want the user to select several options from a list and it uses typical Windows behavior - the user would click and hold ctrl and left mouse click each option.  When I recorded the screen in Captivate 7, the dialogue box states this instruction but when I test it, i can advance by only using the mouse.  Is there a way to force the user to use both the ctrl key and mouse to advance or else get a failure caption?
    Thanks!

    First of all, i couldn't figure out how to advance the slide
    with the use of the mouse. so i chose the spacebar as the select
    key. i used the following settings: on success--continue; allow
    user--one; select keys--space bar; apply settings--all. the
    settings-all didn't seem to have any effect. on the slides i worked
    on individually, here are the issues i ran into: slide continued to
    play for a long time before advancing to the next slide, needed to
    press space bar multiple times before slide advanced, clicking
    button on screen to advance (the one i created with the click box)
    did not seem to have any effect. right now, the show is playing by
    itself. my goal is to slow it down so the user has control over
    when to advance to the next slide.

  • Dropped Shadow Movement on Mouse Click

    I have a rollover graphic that changes states with mouse-over.  The graphic has a dropped shadow given the illusion of depths and as the mouse clicks on the graphics I would like this shadow to move up and to the left.  This would give the illusion of the graphic being pushed down and thereby further the depth perception.  I made the rollover through the rollover dialog box in Dreamweaver.  The entire page is made in Photoshop, sliced and then imported to Dreamweaver. The rollover graphic is one slice in this document and it works fine. However, I cannot figure out how to insert the dropped shadow in the existing slice so that I can attache the required move script in the behaviors tab.  Furthermore, the independent dropped shadow file need to be moved, affected, by the click on the overlaying rollover graphics.
    I am neither a savvy web developer nor a savvy Dreamweaver user so any input and help is appreciated and PLEASE don’t assume that I know anything about any of this = break it down to the most fundamental steps.
    Thank you

    Thanks for the fast reply
    However, this is way above my head as an extreme beginner on Dreamweaver.
    How do I implement the CSS formatting?
    What is a pseudo-class?
    How do I import the images needed?
    I believe three graphics; one basic neutral, one change for mouse over and then maybe a separate graphic for the shadow that is then simply disabled on the click on the previous graphics.  Or however you suggest that this should be executed.
    Any help and input is appreciated and PLEASE assume that I know nothing about any of this so basics and fundamentals are appreciated.
