Mouse Compatability

I recently bought a Mac Mini and I am using the wireless Keyboard and Mouse that I used with my old HP windows laptop. When I am in the Mail system the mouse does strange things such as rendome doubel cilcking when I am deleting old messages using the dustbin icon. When I try and move e-mail from folder to folder the task is almnost impossible as the mouse seems to have no control whatsoever.
Could it be that the mouse is not compatable?
Thanks for any advise
Dave

I've learned over the years that Macs are particular about mice, keyboards and webcams. There are a lot more "universal" mice these days, but companies like Logitech still make "Mac only" mice, and it's better to use them.
I've had good luck with the occasional Dynex "universal" mouse, but Microsoft mice are nothing but trouble with a Mac.
Right now I have a Magic Mouse AND a logitech Trackpad (both BlueTooth). I'd recommend either.

  • A730 keyboard and mouse compatibility with other machines

I would like to have a USB keyboard mouse with the machine.  Unfortunately there is not an option for that with this machine.  I would like to sell the k/m that comes with the machine.
What machines including ones not made my Lenovo would the k/m be compatible with?
According to the Lenovo support page for the drivers for this k/m the drivers are compatable with various Lenovo machines.
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS031648
Does that mean the k/m are compatable with those machines?
Is a certain piece of hardware other than the k/b required for it to work?  If so, is that piece of hardware available after market?
Machine Type: M90z AIO ; Product: 3091CTO (Custom), CPU: i5-650, Video Card: Intel(R) HD Graphics, Memory: 4.00 GB,
Network Card: Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN, OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

Thank you Assaf for taking the time to install the game to check to see if you got a similar problem
honestly i'm not sure its my 865PE Neo2 LS or not,it may be a software issue. I'm just guessing because that was a the biggest change in my system before I started to experiance this problem.
I have experianced this problem with the default windows drivers as well as with logitechs current Mouseware drivers, although i have not tried to install older mouseware drivers
I've had lockups with CoreCell installed as well as removed. In DirectX 8.1 as well as DirectX 9
I thought perhaps it might have been my soundcard because prior to buying that I didnt have any problems...so I removed that...but i still got the same problem (although as i type this i realize i didnt uninstall the Audigy software before i tested....hhmmm. I'll have to test that)
I have noticed it happens more often in OSP/Quake3 (a competition mod) than in plain vanilla Quake3, but it does happen in both.
One intersting thing i discovered by trying out a Belkin KB with my set up was that when i hit a certain combination of keys it would exec a chat bind i had bound to a whole other key ?!?
    the combination was r + g + spacebar = keypad home
That particular problem stopped once I went back to original Keyboard. It did stick in my mind however that when playing Q3 i am hitting combinations of keys all the time and that maybe I'm hitting a combination that is problematic for my system. I have not been able to figure out what that combintion is yet (I tried for quite a while ...but was unable to find the correct combination to reproduce the problem )

  • Mighty mouse compatibility with Beige G3

    Hello,
I have an interesting problem with trying to connect a mighty mouse to my beige G3. When I depress the mighty mouse button, the computer thinks it is a control-click rather than just a normal click. This seems to happen about 80% of the time if I can recall correctly. (a control-click brings up a submenu of other choices rather than the regular single click.)
I am suspecting the problem is because I am running OS 10.1.5. The mighty mouse is suppose to only be compatible with OS 10.2 and later. But generally, it seems to work fine on my OS 10.1.5 system - except for this control-click problem.
Would anyone know of any solutions to such a problem?
Should I try "USB overdrive" perhaps?
    http://www.usboverdrive.com/USBOverdrive/News.html
My other solution is to just use another USB mouse. My other USB mouse (from my blue and white G3) works fine on the beige G3. The problem is only with the mighty mouse.
    Thank you for any suggestions,

The final problem has now been solved. I am a little embarrassed about this because I now realize I had no clue how to operate the mighty mouse. All the problems listed above I have now discovered were due to my own operator error. Oops. I did not know the mighty mouse had a left and a right button! Its so elegant that you cannot see this. I thought that when you click down on a mighty mouse, it was always a regular click. What I discovered today was that the mighty mouse can sense if you click on its right side or its left side. What a smart mouse! It can distinguish between pressure on its left versus its right. If you click on the right side of a mighty mouse, that signals a right click. I wasn't aware the mighty mouse was so sophisticated. No wonder the submenus (that traditionally pop up when you control-click) kept appearing so often when I clicked the mouse - I must have been right clicking without being aware of it.
Problem solved. I suppose I should have read the instructions before I plugged in the mighty mouse.
    PS
I tried the free 30 day trial of USB overdrive [1]. Nice program. It wasn't necessary to operate the mighty mouse on my beige G3 but it sure is useful - especially for customizing the mouse buttons. Great program.
There is a beta version of USB overdrive that works for OS 10.1.5. Works very well.

  • Wireless mighty mouse compatability

I want to buy my first mac. I'm totally leaning toward a macbook, but I'm curious to know if the wireless mighty mouse can be used with it when it's just on my desktop. It's just easier sometimes. Thanks.
Oh, and if it can't, how about the wired mouse?

The wireless mighty mouse works great with the MacBook. I have had one for over a year. Best mouse I have ever owned.

  • Blue Tooth Mighty Mouse compatability?

I've been needing a wireless mouse for a while, preferably blue tooth, the new mighty mouse and one logitech mouse are the only blue tooth mouses I've ever seen with more than just left and right click and scroll, but the logitech one was discontinued. I really want to get this now, but I need a mouse for gaming in bootcamp and I've heard blue tooth doesn't work or something, it appears to work when I'm in XP but I don't have anything Blue Tooth to test it. second even if blue tooth wasn't a problem it doesn't say under the Mighty Mouse page if it supports windows.
does anyone know if it could work in XP on a macbook too? (maybe a little soon to ask questions about it)

Generally speaking Bluetooth is not fully supported under Boot Camp. So in that regard it may not work correctly. I did attached a Logitech MX900 Bluettoh mouse under Boot Camp and everything seemed fine whereas my Apple Wireless keybaord didn't want to work. So really your milage may vary.
The thing with the new Mighty Mouse is that it may require specific drivers for you to be able to configure the additional buttons. If this is the case then it won't work as Apple will need to provide those drivers.
If gaming is important I would go for a USB wireless mouse so you are able to fully configure the mouse and install its software under Windows.

  • Usb keyboard adn mouse compatability

I have a Logitech G7 laser mouse and a Logitech G15 keyboard. Im gunna pick up a mac mini but i dont wanna but a new mouse and keyboard set thatll clutter up my desk. Can i use my mouse and keyboard? oh crap, wrong section. Delete this!

Try switching the keyboard and mouse to a different USB port. If this fixes the problem (temporarily, most likely) you are probably hitting:
7011425 usb keyboard not responsive after screen lock
Note that I believe this also affects mice and it may be triggered by things other than screen lock or inactivity. This bug bit me several times one day two weeks ago, but things have been better since then with no changes other than switching which USB ports were in use.
If switching ports doesn't help, there may be hints in /var/log/Xorg* that you may want to post here and/or include in support call.

  • Magic Mouse - compatibility with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.1

    Hello,
I have recently installed Lion on my iMac. After this I also bought the Magic Mouse. Now I experienced that you can not adjust all movements of the mouse. For example you can not change/adapt the speed of double clicking. While using the Magic Mouse with earlier operating system you have more possibilities to modify the settings of your mouse. Searching for un update for the magic mouse I can only find an updat from 2009 for Leopard.
Hope someone can help me with this problem as I can not use my mouse in the best way,
    Raf

Those options have moved to System Preferences > Universal Access > Mouse & Trackpad tab > Mouse options.. button > adjust double click slider

  • Bluetooth keyboard and mouse compatability

    Hi,
Does anyone know if the older bluetooth keyboard and mouse will work with a 20" imac duo core? The numbers are as follows: Apple Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard (A1016) & Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse (A1197). The imac number I believe is: MA200LL.
I haven't received it yet though ebay but would like to do the bluetooth thing to keep my desk as clutter free as possible.
    Thanks!

Taking this a step further; I bought the aluminum wireless KB with my 20" 2 GHz Core 2 Duo. I don't like the layout, so I bought the older style wireless KB (A1016). However, I can't get the Mac to recognize the new KB. I've even gone through the Bluetooth setup assistant to no avail: it just can't find it. I tried having the BT Setup Assistant look for ANY BT device and it sees the KB that way. I can get through to the point of entering the passkey on the computer but I seem to get hung up when trying to enter the same corresponding code on the new KB.
Any ideas? Do I need to disable the wireless aluminum KB?

  • Fixing wireless mouse compatibility

I have a wireless mouse that has its own nice little dock (it's a Razer Naga Epic). However, I ran a silly "clean up" application and it seems to have removed whatever file was necessary for the wireless functionality to work. (Before you ask, I have made two new profiles — one as an admin, one just a regular user — and neither one worked. I've also repaired permissions and basically done everything possible to eliminate hardware issues or anything besides "Oops, the file was deleted.") Since it stopped working almost immediately after the file was deleted and my last backup was over 100 days ago (I'm horrible, I know), I was wondering if it was possible to just reinstall OS X without losing everything, or if there's anything like a "repair" option that I can try.
Barring that, does anyone know which files most keyboards and mice are dependent on? If any of those got deleted, I can just copy them from the backup I do have. (The mouse has a 12-key entry pad on the side, so it also functions as a keyboard. Before it stopped working wirelessly — wired, it's just fine — I would get a "setup your keyboard" prompt every time I plugged it in or connected to the dock. Now, nothing.)
    Any help is much appreciated.

I honestly don't think that would do anything, especially since it worked just fine before the drivers were released at all (it originally shipped only with PC support). I think the folks over at Razer actually sped up their work a bit to see if a Mac-specific driver would help me out, because the original date for that was quite a bit later than it actually shipped.
In any case, the only .plist I can find related to it is within the package contents and it appears to all be in line.

  • Optical mouse compatibility

Is my 6+ year old optical mouse not compatibile with a Mac Pro?
Click works, but motion is not recognized by the system.

I believe almost any USB mouse will work.  I've even tried my 10-year-old USB mouse on my mac pro.  Works ok. Only one button of course.  But it works.  Currently I have a microsoft usb mouse in my mac pro in additon to my magic mouse -- use it when the magic runs out
If this is an optical mouse do you see the red laser light on the sensor.  If not, it's toast.  If it's there, try cleaning the sensor?  Maybe it's got dirt covering it and cannot detect the motion.

  • Mouse compatibility

Does anyone know if the Targus bluetooth wireless mouse would work with a powerbook with built in bluetooth?

I just tried out the Targus mouse and it is compatible. Yeah!!! For those interested in an inexpensive bluetooth mouse the model no. is AMB02US. Cost was $45.99 in Canada.

  • Microsoft mouse compatibility

two months ago i bought el cheapo microsoft mouse ($18) at staples. two buttons w/wheel.
works fine, except that when we "wake up" the mac, SOMETIMES the mouse cursor isn't on the screen.
we have to unplug the mouse USB cable from the keyboard, plug it in again (doesn't matter which USB port we use) and then the mouse cursor shows up.
this problem only happens sometimes, but it's a regular thing.
i have tried shutting down the mac, rebooting. the problem persists.
this began happening after i went to OS 10.4.5, and AFTER i got that new mouse.
    help, ayone?

newtothemacworld:i gather you are confident i have diskutility somewhere.Disk Utility installs with the OS from the install disk. It is not an optional install, and that means that whenever one uses the install disk to install Panther or Tiger, Disk Utilities is installed with the rest of the OS. So, unless it were deleted, either unintentionally or intentionally, it will be in the Utilities Folder within the Applications Folder.i wonder why the apple support docs i looked over (all 70 of them) seemed to suggest that a user needs to load original install disk to access diskutility. One can access Disk Utility on the install disk, and, if all else fails, that would be fine to go that route. However, it is installed with the System and when you Repair Disk Permissions with the installed version of DU it repairs the latest permission on the disk.
Now try to find DU using the method Barry suggested. Click on the desktop. Now go up to the menu bar and go to the Go Menu. Pull down and see if you see Disk Utility there. It should be in the lower half of the pulled down menu.
    Good luck, penpal.

  • New mighty Mouse compatibility with MAC OS X (10.3.9)

I would like to know if the new mighty mouse would work with the MAC OS X 10.3.9 version. On the specs it seems that it requires a 10.4 version ???

The box says 10.4.6 or later. The instruction manual says "to use your mouse and take full advantage of its features, you need: [...] 10.4.6 or later."
The instruction manual also says: "If your Mac is running an earlier version of Mac OS X, you won't be able to install the software from the disc and you may not be able to use all of the features…"
The manual states that users of OSX 10.3.9–10.4.2 can "assign primary and secondary buttons, and activate Exposé. Display Dashboard only in [Tiger]"
So, there you go, from the horse's mouth. It'll work fine, but not as full-featured as if you were running the latest OS.
