Mouse Cursor glitching out

Hi there,
While playing Starcraft 2 my mouse cursor has been glitching out randomly. The problem occurs usually after playing for about a half hour or so online. odd lines will pass through the curosr messing up the pixels. I have been looking for solutions for the problem for a while. It appears as though this is a problem that has been fixed with new updated drivers from ati. Unfortunately my laptop has been preventing from updating the driver, here is my specs:
HP DV6 3077ca
i5 430m
4gb ddr3
ati mobility radeon 5650
So my questions are, is there a chance HP will update these drivers? or is there a work around for this problem?

Uninstall ATI display drivers and synaptics touchpad drivers through Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features . Restart the computer and install the ones mentioned below.
AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver(v8.771.1.0)
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp50501-51000/sp50640.exe
Synaptics TouchPad Driver(v15.1.6.64)

  • How to change the mouse cursor icon type when mouse moves out of client area ( propertysheet) WTL?

    I got stuck with an issue in property sheet .I want to load different cursor when the mouse position is within the client area and load another when moves out of the client area.
    In the porpetysheet I added four page. In the first page when I click next I am loading cursor of IDC_WAIT type and loading IDC_ARROW when the mouse moves out of the client area.
    In the page class I triggered the event for WM_MOUSEMOVE as follow:
        MESSAGE_HANDLER(WM_MOUSEMOVE, OnMouseMove)
    LRESULT OnMouseMove(UINT /*uMsg*/, WPARAM /*wParam*/, LPARAM /*lParam*/, BOOL& /*bHandled*/)
    if(TRUE == m_bIsNextBtnClicked)
    ::SetCursor(LoadCursor(NULL, IDC_WAIT));
    else
    ::SetCursor(LoadCursor(NULL, IDC_ARROW));
    return TRUE;
    This event is getting triggered and absolutely had no issue with this. Similarly I tried adding `MESSAGE_HANDLER(WM_MOUSELEAVE, OnMouseLeave)` this event making an assumption that this will get triggered if the mouse moves out of the client area,  but
    this event did not get triggered at all.If this is not the mouse event to be triggered for mouseleave which event should I trigger?
    LRESULT OnMouseLeave(UINT /*uMsg*/, WPARAM /*wParam*/, LPARAM /*lParam*/, BOOL& /*bHandled*/)
    ::SetCursor(LoadCursor(NULL, IDC_ARROW));
    return TRUE;
    Now when I click Next button , **I was actually calling a function which is taking sometime to return** . Before to this function I am loading IDC_WAIT cursor i.e.,
     `::SetCursor(LoadCursor(NULL, IDC_WAIT));` .
    Now when move the mouse cursor on to the non-client area I want to load IDC_ARROW cursor i.e.,
        ::SetCursor(LoadCursor(NULL, IDC_ARROW));
    When the moves on to the non-client area I am handling the mouse event in sheet derived class as follows,
    MESSAGE_HANDLER(WM_NCMOUSEMOVE, OnNCMouseMove)
    LRESULT OnNCMouseMove(UINT /*uMsg*/, WPARAM /*wParam*/, LPARAM /*lParam*/, BOOL& /*bHandled*/)
    ::SetCursor(LoadCursor(NULL, IDC_ARROW));
    return 0;
    This event is not getting triggered until unless the function in the Next button event is executed.
    I want both of them to be done in parallel i.e, click Next button now hover mouse on the client area, Busy icon should come and when mouse moves out of the client area then IDC_ARROW icon should come.
    LRESULT OnWizardNext()
    ::SetCursor(LoadCursor(NULL, IDC_WAIT));
    m_bIsNextBtnIsClicked = TRUE;
    BOOL bRet = MyFun();
    m_bIsNextBtnIsClicked = FALSE;
    //Until this function(MyFun()) is executed **WM_NCMOUSEMOVE**
    //event is not getting triggered.But this event should get triggered and I
    //should be able to see the change of cursor within and out of client area.
    Can anyone kindly help me to solve this issue.

  • My Mouse Cursor Disappears coming out of standby and screensaver!!

    I have a TX1000z, with a fresh install of Windows Vista Home Premium 64.  All drivers are current, including the video, networking, mouse, etc.  I am using the xb3000 port replicator with the logitech MX Revolution mouse and a bluetooth wireless keyboard.
    My mouse cursor disappears from the screen, sometimes both the laptop and the monitor (a Dell 22"), sometimes just one or the other.  I can still use the buttons and see different things highlight, but no mouse cursor.  It is not related to Windows Media Center as I have not run that on my laptop yet.  I can reboot and everything is fine, but then it will just disappear again and I cannot keep rebooting!  I have seen this problem posted all over the web, usually in relation to Windows Media Center and the "solution" is always the same...Disable Pointer Trails and "hide cursor while typing."  Neither of these has worked for me.  In fact, when I went in to disable trails, they were already disabled.  Actually, when I clicked on Enable Pointer Trails, the mouse becomes visible.  The mouse is then choppy (even when the trail is very short) and disappears again if I disable pointer trails.
    Here is a link to another post with a very similar problem, but the resolution was not posted (though a suggestion was):
    http://forums.logitech.com/logitech/board/message?board.id=software_mice&message.id=12940#M12940
    HELP!!

    Still an issue. No fix found for me either.
    Windows Vista 64 sp3. Latest NVidia Video drivers. External Logitech Trackball Marble Wireless. Trails disabled, Hide while typing Disabled.
    Happens when coming out of sleep, screensaver or hibernate. Usually on the primary screen only (dual display). Sometimes on all.

  • Mouse cursor disappears after logging out

    I have set up 3 identical x86 systems, which means they all have the same mouse, same keyboard, same motherboard, same CPU, etc. The first 2 systems work fine with Solaris 10. The last system has this problem:
    After I installed Solaris, the system boots up. I would log in as root. The mouse works fine. The moment I log out, I see the log in window. My mouse cursor is gone. Only the keyboard works.
    So I re-installed Solaris 10 again. Same problem.
    I went out and bought the same motherboard. Re-installed Solaris 10 again. Same problem.
    I can't argue that maybe the mouse is not compatible with Solaris because that same mouse works fine with the other 2 systems. Also, I tried other mice, and I have the same problem.
    I can't say that there's something wrong with my Solaris installation CD's because I've used those same CD's to install on the other 2 systems, and there's no problem.
    Anyone has a suggestion what could be causing this, and how to fix it? Thanks.

    Hello,
    I've tried to reproduce this problem -- but so far oi have not been able to reproduce the mouse-pointer vanishing. Can you break this down into some steps?
    Like this:
    1. Launch application
    2. Via File-> New-> Captions make a new Closed Caption accepting all defaults
    3. After the caption is opened from the Project area, make a few caption blocks/ slots via a the "+" button
    4. Put text in each block
    5. in the second caption, click on the "In:" time and type 000000000 and hit RETURN key
    6. Click <OK> in the caption overlap warning
    7. ...
    8. ..
    I'll try again when I see how you are getting the problem.
    Take care!

  • Mac Pro won't boot, screen flashes, no mouse cursor

    Hello.
    I've had a Mac Pro 1,1 for about 3.5 years now and it's worked fantastic until recent weeks. Suddenly, I started getting weird glitches on the screen that was fixed by a simple PRAM reset and a safe boot. Worked fine for about a month after that, then it froze on me and refused to boot, so I removed all hardware, followed all steps to find the problem and I'm still stuck. I've formatted the system drive now and reinstalled 10.6.3 and it will only boot in safe mode, but when it does, the screen flashes intermittently and there is no mouse cursor which makes it tricky to get around. I've moved some ram around and found a configuration that seems to have no issues, so now I'm just wondering what's left. I do have an appointment for the genius bar tomorrow but I'd like to get the problem fixed on my own, if possible. Oh, and sometimes when I boot up the screen turns entirely pink with a blue or purple mouse cursor. I've searched online and no one else has seemed to ever have this sort of problem. Like I said, the computer was working perfectly fine until recently, and I didn't change anything or add any hardware or install any new software either.

    hey - thanks to those of you that actually had supportive advice in helping me to fix this problem.
    for the record, i did take the computer to the "genius" bar and they did not turn me away. they opened the computer and found that i had a bad stick of ram. got new ram installed, and the computer booted up fine, but still had visual distortion and would freeze up if i did anything taxing on the graphic card, especially the iTunes visualizer. Anyway, thanks to you guys i looked up the baking situation which threw me off at first. the graphic card in my machine was a 8800 GT, so i put it in the oven for 8 minutes, reinstalled, and my computer has been running fine since. i realize that this is probably just a temporary fix, but i thought i'd let you guys know that the problem has been resolved for now, and i really appreciate you guys taking time out to help!
    thanks, happy xmas + happy 2014

  • What causes a slow mouse/cursor response on a fast machine?

    I have a system that has always displayed poor cursor redraw performance with certain adobe applications.   All rendering and other effects are fast, but basic mouse selections and button knobs are extremely unresponsive.   I have searched and searched and can not seem to find out what causes the mouse cursor speed issues.   Does anyone have any ideas as to why my mouse would slow for such basic Interface interactions?    Do I need to change my hardware, settings, displays, BIOS, etc?
    Any insight into what the mouse redraw/refresh is called in terms of computing would help me search for a solution.  And if you have a solution as to why my mouse cursor acts drunk and sluggish when interacting with the Adobe UI's in premiere and after effects and sometimes Photoshop I would greatly appreciate the help.
    Thank You.  I attached a screen shot of a very basic selection interaction that is dog slow.  The selection box redraws like there is a lag in some process associated with the square box overlay.

    Thank you so much.
    Cliff

    Your answer is in this part of your specs:
    > (driving two 30 inch dell monitors)
    It takes a long time to draw and redraw the pixels to the screen(s) with such large monitors.
    We can mitigate this by making some changes in how our UI is drawn to the screen, and such changes are a rather high priority for use to work on for the near future.

  • Xorg-server 1.6 - black screen with mouse cursor

    Hi
    First of all: I'm really new to Arch, so maybe there is a real easy fix for this problem
    Since upgrading to xorg-server 1.6 (and today to 1.6.1) I'm not able to get a running Desktop Environment.
    Usually I am using gnome with compiz-fusion on my Geforce 4 (nvidia-96xx 96.43.11-4 driver).
    When I boot my machine i see gdm and I am able to login. I can hear my login sound but I only get a black screen with a mouse cursor.
    I added a new test user to my system without compiz and get the same.
    I tried my old xorg.conf from 1.5, generated a new one with X -configure and tried without xorg.conf but everytime the same
    Actually I'm not sure if the xorg update is responsible for this, because i did not watch the upgrade-process....
    I googled this problem and was searching similar things in this froum, but I wasn't able to find something
    Here are some files

    I'm having a very similar issue. Sometimes, when I boot and type in startx (I'm not even a GNOME user--I use dwm and no graphical login manager), I just get a black screen. No mouse cursor, so I think X doesn't even load. It only started with the xserver 1.6 update and the update to that hasn't changed anything. What I've been doing is just rebooting until it loads normally (takes one to three times). Is anyone else having this problem?

  • Server 2008 crash - black screen with mouse cursor

    dell poweredge 2950 with Perc 5/I RAID, ESXi 4.1 host, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 VM
    After swapping out a failed raid5 drive this vm began displaying inpage operation error popups while checking folder permissions.  event viewer errors:
    The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume \Device\HarddiskVolume2.
     The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume C:.
    chkdsk /r run from the win2k8r2sp1 install dvd command line resulted in more corrections than i was able to screenshot:
    After this the server would only boot to black screen with mouse cursor.  same black screen result in safe mode or directory services restore mode.  sfc /scannow, startrep, and registry repair from the folder contents @ c:\windows\system32\config\regback
    have been attempted with no improvement.  I am still able to access the filesystem contents using the command line from the win2k8r2sp1 installation DVD -  user + registry files copied over to another drive without problem and i was able to load
    the registry hive on another system.  This server was doing dns, domain controller and certification authority but the only important item is getting the CA back somehow.  Any suggestions are welcome.

    Hi,
    According the information you have provided, the file system is broken.
    After the repair, do chkdsk /r and sfc /scannow give any warning or error?
    If yes, it means that the file system and system file are not repaired. Please post the error or warning here. It may give some hints.
    Best Regards.

  • Gnome Black Screen with Mouse Cursor after Login

    I am using Archlinux 64bit with a Gnome Desktop Environment. Everything was running normally uptill today. When i ran "sudo fc-cache", my system froze. I couldnt open any other app but i was able to access terminal. I restarted using "reboot" command. After that I was unable to log in to my desktop.
    The Gnome login screen comes and after entering the correct username and password, all I can see is a black screen with mouse cursor. I then started gnome manually with "startx" and it worked. But still I am unable to use normally (that is the graphical login). I reinstalled gdm but it didnt work. Please help me out.

    there are a lot of processess running... dunno killing which process will not cause a problem

  • Vista Home Premium: Following install, black screen with mouse cursor

    I have tried installing with Boot Camp (v2.0) twice now with the same result.
    After the install is complete, the mac reboots into windows. I should see the Vista welcome screen but instead I get the black screen with a mouse cursor. The mouse is functional but clearly not much use!
    A subsequent reboot brings up the options for restarting following an unclean shutdown of windows. Running in safe mode, the restart hangs. The last dll loaded was crcdisk.
    I am running an OEM version - once activated (assuming I ever get that far) - the installation will be locked to the mac... which is fine.
    Googling the problem reveals some early Vista beta issues with graphics that caused a similar problem. Does Vista have an issue with the 8800GT that is fitted in my Mac?
    Any help/ideas/suggestions/fixes much appreciated. Rather stumped.
    I would load up XP Pro but I dont have an installer with SP2 :/

    Well my problem turns out to be a bad disk. I added two seagate 7200.11 750GB drives. Once which was making ominous ticking sounds. Vista took an age to install and really, I should have caught on earlier.
    When I got a bunch of disk i/o errors creating a Fusion VM of XP Pro I decided to remove the disk and to try the other unit.
    Vista installed very rapidly indeed and worked. Yes worked.
    Hurrah! Problem solved.
    Time to see about replacing that disk...

  • G570 USB mouse cursor freezing constantly

    The problem will be explained lower but let me tell you how this was.
    So I've had this problem like 1,5 years ago, after I bought the laptop. So I bought a cheap mouse for it back then, and I noticed that the laptop had problems with the USB mouse, fine, I thought it was the poor mouse, so I bought another cheap one, and it worked fine. Then I bought a gamepad, and again, this problem.
    Today I bought a gaming mouse, and the problem re-appeared. I've been searching through the internet all day long.
    Basically, the mouse cursor freezes constantly, also with that "plugged-unplugged" sound, but the touchpad works.
    I've been looking all around, tried the mouse on another laptop and it works fine.
    I've tried:
    - Starting the laptop in safe mode.
    - Uninstalling/reinstalling the realtek USB reader or w/e its name is.
    - The device manager trick (I think you know what I'm talking about)
    - Been changing the OS many times after I bought the laptop, that problem persisted with the gamepad.
    - Tried different ports around the laptop.
    None of them helped. BUT, I saw that actually it hangs when the CPU is throttling. I've changed my power plan to energy saver and the problem went away. I've changed the maximum/minimum CPU power, the problem went away.
    But the frequency sets constantly at 800 MHz. What can I do to keep it at 2200 MHz (i3-2330M clock speed) and also keep the mouse working well?

    Hey Barrett_killz,
      Welcome to the forums
    I would suggest you trying out a different USB mouse and see if that helps
    Cant suggest anything else as you have already uninstalled and installed the Drivers
    keep me posted
    Lets make 2015 the year of the #DO
    Did I or someone help you today? Press the star on the left to thank them with a Kudo!

  • When I'm filling in the form on a website Firefox jumps down past the next block and I have to go back using my mouse cursor

    For example on Find-A-Grave when filling in the form to add a memorial there are several blocks that you fill in including location. For some blocks you type in the information and others are pick one of the preset selections. I generally hit the tab key on my keyboard and goes to the next block except when it comes to the preset selection blocks. If I use the tab key to go to the next selection it skips right past the next selection to the selection below that. For example, after I fill in the year I hit the tab key and type u for the United States under the country selection. But in order to get the next block to appear I have to hit tab again (but only when using your browser). Your browser then skips past the state selection to the county selection. Then when I pick the state using the cursor it does it again and drops down to the Bio past the county selection.
    When I use Internet Explorer I don't have this problem. I merely hit the tab button on my keyboard and it goes to the next selection rather than as your browser does that is skips to the block below.
    Is there some reason you have it set up this way because it is quite annoying to have to go back up each time using the mouse cursor rather than continuing to use the keyboard to fill in everything (typing, tab key or using the arrow keys). To say the least it slows the whole process down a lot. No, it is not my computer. I've had the exact same problem using another computer. No, it is not the find-a-grave website. I just used it as an example. Using your browser forces me to stop using the keyboard to fill in a form and use the mouse and then the keyboard and then the mouse and then the keyboard and then the mouse, etc when it shouldn't be necessary when filling out a form on a website.

    Are you having the problem with just the one site? Others?
    Please post some public linkss.
    Start '''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Firefox in Safe Mode]''' {web Link} by holding down the '''<Shift><br> ''(Mac Options)'' ''' key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

  • Xorg: blank screen, mouse cursor only - ATI Radeon HD3450

    Last friday, my old Nvidia card died (overheated, I think). I got a replacement today: an ATI HD3450 card by Asus (R600 series). This is an old PC with an AGP slot, so my options were unfortunately limited. I was looking for a Nvidia replacement originally, to avoid having to reconfigure stuff, but that turned out to be too hard. So I got an ATI card instead. I regret this decision now... it works fine in console mode, but I can't get it to work in X.
    I've tried radeon and radeonhd drivers. I'm reluctant to try catalyst, seeing as they do not support the current kernel version (2.6.32) and I don't want to downgrade.
    radeonhd (xf86-video-radeonhd) is just a disaster. When I try to start X, all I see is a screen which is mostly black, except for a garbled band of about 1/4th the screen height, mostly white with some random colours thrown in.
    radeon (xf86-video-ati) doesn't work either. When X starts, all I see is the mouse cursor. And nothing else. Just a black screen with a mouse cursor. The funny thing is, it's all there, I just can't see it. When I tried "startxfce4", the cursor would change shapes when it was over window edges or text boxes. But they were invisible. Too bad.
    When I run "startx" as root, I see a couple of twm windows (the default configuration, I normally don't use X as root), and I can interact with them, but it's as if the screen isn't refreshed properly. When I move a window, it isn't redrawn, but it was definitely moved, because when I enter text in it, the text appears at the new position. The 'vesa' driver works, but I can't use that for obvious reasons.
    I have read the wiki article about ATI drivers and tried some of the things mentioned there (no xorg.conf, simple xorg.conf with some combinations of the sections mentioned, ...). I'm pretty sure the problem isn't KMS-related, because it's disabled by default with the 2.6.32 kernel.
    What pisses me off the most is that I get no error messages whatsoever, so I haven't a clue what could be the problem. I'm working on getting some Xorg.0.log output in this thread ASAP.
    Anybody have any idea what could cause this? I would really like to get this working soon. It would kinda suck if it turns out I've replaced an unusable graphics card with another unusable graphics card.
    If the radeonhd problem is easier to solve, then solutions for that are welcome as well. I just need a working driver that can handle compiz, and doesn't require me to downgrade my kernel.
    EDIT: Xorg.0.log contents, enjoy!

    "Enabling KMS will make Xorg fall back to software rasterizing, at the cost of 3D performance. " <- is this still true at the moment? In that case, enabling KMS really isn't the solution I'm looking for. Back to square one
    This is not true.  Software rasterization indicates that KMS was not set up correctly.  You will get 3D acceleration with KMS correctly configured.
    Thanks for taking the time to reply
    I'll give enabling KMS a try. What thread is it that you're talking about? Also should I follow the "early start" or "late start" instructions?
    EDIT: I'm guessing you mean this one? http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=613720
    That thread is the one I meant.
    Your xf86-video-ati doesn't have support for KMS - you have to rebuild it against libdrm_radeon. This also means that you have to rebuild mesa against same new libdrm because mesa doesn't have KMS support without libdrm_radeon either.
    Is this information applicable to my situation? No instructions on how to do this are provided, so I have no idea how to try it, or if it's worth trying at all.
    Yes, this is a problem.  You have to modify a PKGBUILD or two and build/install the packages in the correct order.  I detail the right way to do everything below.
    I used the following packages:
    * kernel26-git: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=25304 (you must configure with CONFIG_DRM_RADEON=m. CONFIG_DRM_RADEON_KMS=y enables KMS by default.  you should be presented with a configuration menu when the package builds.  type '/' to search.)
    * kernel26-firmware-git: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=25782
    * radeon_ucode: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=33016
    * libdrm-git: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=10254 (you must edit the PKGBUILD to enable radeon support, see below)
    * glproto-git: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=18964
    * dri2proto-git: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=19051
    * libgl-git: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=19044 (this is out of date and requires a patch.  see my comment on the AUR page)
    * mesa-git: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=8266 (you can reuse src/mesa from libgl-git, it clones the same repository)
    * xf86-video-ati-git: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=15374 (you can reuse src/mesa from libgl-git)
    libdrm-git PKGBUILD:
    sh autogen.sh --prefix=/usr \
    --enable-nouveau-experimental-api \
    --enable-udev || return 1
    # --enable-radeon-experimental-api
    libdrm-git PKGBUILD modified:
    sh autogen.sh --prefix=/usr \
    --enable-radeon-experimental-api \
    --enable-udev || return 1
    Install those packages in that order and add yourself to the video group.  Make sure that your grub configuration has an option to select the new kernel.  Also make sure all of your PKGBUILDs from AUR are up to date.  A week or two ago they were all wrong (as a noted above, one of them is still wrong and requires a patch).
    I hope that helps.  Eventually Arch will support KMS for radeon by default, but the driver and the kernel need to go through another release or two.

  • No mouse cursor on one monitor - Windows 7 Boot Camp

    Hello,
    I installed Windows 7, and ran the boot camp installer; however, since then, my mouse cursor does not appear on one of my two monitors. I can still click on things (if I can figure out where my invisible mouse is), but the arrow itself is just gone. This is only the case within Windows; mouse works fine on the Mac end.
    Hardware in question:
    Computer - Mac Pro with NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 graphics card
    Monitor with issue - Hannspree widescreen monitor connected via HDMI cable + HDMI to mini DV adaptor
    Other monitor - hp fullscreen monitor, connected via VGA
    I'm wondering if it has something to do with my NVIDIA drivers on windows, because the mouse shenanigans seemed to start after this step in the Bootcamp installation process.
    Any ideas for how to fix this?
    Thanks very much.

    Then google for Cirrus Logic Audio for Mac running Windows.
    Something like this...

    *Step 1:* Download the Macbook Pro Cirrus Logic CS4206A Driver from our server.

    +In case the above download link does not work google+ CirrusAudio.10.6.1.zip
    *Step 2:* Extract the right type of Driver
    (depending on your windows XP/ 7/ 32 bit/ 64bit)
    Step3: for Windows 7 only: Right Click on exe file of driver.
    Select Properties> Compatibility > run in compatibility mode
    Select Windows Vista from drop down menu and Click OK
    *Step 4:* Double click the driver and install.
