Mouse cursor invisible, but still functional

So, I recently updated my system and after the next reboot, the cursor was gone.
Okay, it was not that gone, it was just invisible, but I can use it right now as it was there.
Unfortunately, it was not the smallest update, so I currently have no clue, which package may have caused this.
Any ideas?

This happened to me as well, several weeks, maybe even months ago. In my case, it seemed to coincide with installing cinnamon. Is cinnamon something you installed recently, by any chance? At any rate, I ended up having issues in cinnamon as well, and I wonder if running both DE's side-by-side potentially causes issues. For instance, I noticed that some settings in tweak-tool in gnome carried over to cinnamon. They share a lot of core apps and maybe it has something to do with config files...?? I eventually just made a list of apps I wanted to keep and did a fresh install using my existing home partition and deleted any config files I didn't want. I really needed to do that anyway. I now have KDE and Gnome. KDE is as buggy is ever, but gnome does seem to be behaving itself this time around. Sorry I don't have any better suggestions.

  • Making the mouse cursor invisible.

I am currently in the deployment phase of software made for two touchscreen kiosks.
When moving the applications over to these kiosks I realized that we needed to make the mouse cursor invisible.
    I have tried the
Cursor cursor = new Cursor();// ALthough i was unable to find a cursor constant that gave me an invisible pointer.
    testFrame.setCursor(cursor);
Any ideas how I could remove the pointer from view alltogether?

    Toolkit tk = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit();
    Image image = tk.getImage("yourPicture.gif");
    Cursor invisibleCursor = tk.createCustomCursor(image, new Point(0,0), "invisible cursor");I usually use a 1 x 1 transparent gif.

  • Mouse cursor works but no click

Mouse cursor works but can't use my mouse to reposition pop-up windows. I opened mouse in system preferences but the computer can find no mouse, looks for bluetooth mouse. I use the mousepad below the keyboard on the macbook.

If you are using the trackpad below the keyboard, then you need to use trackpad in system preferences not mouse.  The mouse section is if you were using an external mouse or bluetooth mouse.  The trackpad section is for the built in trackpad of the macbook

  • Duplicate mouse cursor appears (but doesn't move) on second monitor

I have a Mac Pro with the ATI XT1900 video card and 2 Dell 2407WFP LCD monitors attached via DVI.
When I'm using an application, such as a web browser, and the cursor changes state (like the black arrow with spinning wheel in corner) a duplicate of this cursor state appears on my second monitor, on the left-hand side of the screen.
This cursor DOES NOT MOVE, but does animate, and will not disappear unless I move my "live" cursor over to the second monitor, which I imagine causes OS X to "refresh" the position of the cursor. It realizes the duplicate shouldn't be there and it vanishes. The second cursor seems to appear only when the primary live cursor changes state, as in the black arrow becoming a black arrow with spinning wheel in the corner, etc.
This is not a duplicate cursor due to having Displays set up to mirror one another. The second cursor doesn't move.
This has happened in more than one software application, so it appears to be some sort of display driver error at the system level.
Anyone else experience this or have a way to fix it? There have been several Apple Updates to OS X since this problem first started happening (on day 1 with the Mac Pro) and it has not been resolved.

  • Links in Faded div are invisible but still clickable

I am using Dreamweaver CS3 with the Spry 1.6.1 updater
installed. I have an AP Div that is initially hidden. Using
Dreamweaver's Behaviors Panel to add Effects, I have successfully
made that div fade in when a button is clicked. I then fade it away
when I click a close button.
My problem is that there are links in the div I faded away.
Even though the div is now faded and invisible I can still click
those invisible links! I would think that if the div has been faded
and is invisible I should not be able to interact with it's
contents. This happens in Safari Firefox and IE.
While I am comfy with coding, Ideally I'd like an solution
with little or no coding since I will be having others do this and
they may not be comfortable with coding.
Thanks in advance for any help,
    Dan

While I thank you for the suggestion V1Fusion, the point of
having Spry inside Dreamweaver is to not have to code. While I can
personally code JavaScript, I teach Dreamweaver to people who don't
know it, and frankly shouldn't have to since that is most of the
point of using Dreamweaver! For instance the "Swap Image" behavior
works right without anyone having to know how it works or the code
works. This "Hide" effect should do the same. There should at least
be an option in the dialog to add a display:none at the end. Such a
little thing like this makes the effect pretty useless so it seems
like a pretty important thing for Dreamweaver to have. Otherwise
what's the point of having a half done feature that doesn't truly
    work?

  • Checkboxes are not rendering; they still function, but are completely invisible.

Ever since installing Firefox 4 on my PC, checkboxes have not been rendering. They will occasionally be visible when the browser is first launched, but disappear on mouse-over. They still function, but are completely invisible.

This is looking like an OAS ADF Faces library issue. I'm in the process of updating those now.

  • [LR 4.1 - Library] Minor but annoying bug with mouse cursor

    Hi,
There is a minor but irritating bug with the mouse cursor in the Library module. Steps to reproduce:
    1. Activate the Library module.
    2. Move the mouse cursor into the image area. The mouse cursor looks like a magnifying glass.
    3. Move the mouse cursor to the left, until it reaches the right border of the left panel. The cursor becomes a double arrow indicating that you can modify the left panel width.
    4. Do not click and continue moving the cursor to the left : most of the time (but not always) the mouse cursor is not reset to a standard cursor when entering the left panel area. It is still displayed as a double arrow.
    5. Sometimes this also occurs when moving the mouse cursor directly from the image area to the left panel.
This can also happen under other circumstances. However, this doesn't happen with the right panel or when using another module. Also, at some time during the session, the problem disappears... until the next session or until you return from another module.

I agree, although it sounds trivial, it is very irratating - especially when doing a lot of keywording.

If the mouse clicks something on its own then it looks like you have a hardware problem with the trackpad or possibly the battery that is right underneath the trackpad.
I have read that the battery can swell and that would put pressure on the trackpad.

  • Lost mouse connection. Replaced batteries but still no recognition. Advice?

I had a message saying 'Lost connection' with mouse icon.
I replaced batteries but still no recognition.
    Advice?

First make sure the batteries aren't dead and that the keyboard hasn't already been paired with another device that's in range. If it hasn't, the keyboard should pair automatically when you reboot. You may have to press and hold the power button on the right side of an Apple keyboard until the LED starts flashing.
    Otherwise see these support articles:
Mac mini (Mid 2011 and later) and iMac (Late 2012): Bluetooth keyboard may not pair during Setup Assistant
Apple Wireless Keyboard: Difficulty during pairing process
If you have a third-party Bluetooth keyboard, you may need a wired keyboard to complete the pairing process. It's a good idea to keep a cheap wired keyboard and mouse or trackball as backups for a desktop Mac anyway, because Bluetooth isn't completely reliable.
