Mouse Cursor replaced by colorful box after 10.4.3 update

Hello Everyone,
I am not getting anyware with this problem and I am stuck with 10.4.2 as I am not able to update.
Every time that a new update comes out I tried hoping that the problem has been addressed but in reality is not, and I need to rebuild.
I haven't yet found a way to rol back from an update or to at least rol back the drivers that damage my cursor (that would be ideal).
Please can anyone who uderstand help us out on resolving this issue?
I can't change my videocard at present as for the Cube its not that easy, due to space, power etc.
if anyone knows a way to upgrade the security without touching the video card drivers or placing back an original driver please help.
the other question is, will anyone ever address this issue?
and maybe fix the driver for our mortal with old cards?
I thank you all in advance
G.Manni
Cube   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Thanx Abe,
Yes I have tried 10.4.3 and 10.4.4.
Infact it is since 10.4.3 that the problem has appeared.
Every time I have to reinstall and install the combo 10.4.2 which is the only update that works.
The problem is not with the mouse itself.
I tried different mouse and even different cursor themes as well, but it is always the same.
If I enlarge the pointer to a really big one then it appears again but it is really hugly working with a massive pointer.
The problem is the graphic card driver.
I know that as there are other people experiencing the same thing and no-one has found a solution yet without changing the video card.
Unfortunately I can't do that as I would have to change several things to make fit one in my Cube (space is very tight).
I would like to know which driver is upgraded and how to revert back without problems in dependency etc.
no-onoe again has been able to tell me that as yet if it is possible and how to do it.
If you have any suggestion where to look fo figure it out on what the update change in my devices list and how to revert back without breacking any other dependency I'll be happy to do it.
I want the security updates as well but can't work with no cusrsor or gigantic one.
thanx for replying
G.Manni

How much data is being backed-up from each Mac?  (see what's shown for Estimated size of full backup under the exclusions box in Time Machine Prefs > Options).
Is there any other data on your Time Capsule, besides the backups?
Most likely, there just isn't room.  Time Machine may be trying to do a very large (or full) backup of one or both Macs, and can't.  Since it won't ever delete the most recent backup, there has to be enough room for one full backup plus whatever it's trying to back up now, plus 20% (for workspace).

  • Mouse cursor freezes a few seconds after start-up? Need help!

    Laptop: Samsung Series 9
    OS: Windows 8.1
Problem: since booting up my computer today, my cursor will freeze about 30 seconds after boot-up. Prior to this, I'll be able to move my cursor for a few seconds as I normally would, but then I will inevitably see the blue loading circle next to the cursor
and then my cursor will be frozen in place. I can still use my keyboard/everything else functions regularly. I decided to boot up my computer in safe mode and my cursor works fine. Clearly then, there must be some software/start-up issue?
I should note that I used my laptop fine yesterday night. When I booted it up today my cursor froze and I saw the restart prompt that said windows will restart on its own in 1 day to update. So I updated/restarted and the problem persists.

    Hi,

  • Adobe Bridge 1.0.3 displays white boxs after 10.4.6 update

After the update Bridge displays white boxes in the window. I have done all the standard stuff like delete prefs, rebuild caches, I even reinstalled it. I also ran the Adobe security update that was mentioned on another thread no luck. I have posted this problem at Adobe also. Anyone know of a fix?
    Patrick

Turns out it was bad ram causing some of the trouble and trying to fix it only caused more of a mess.

  • Color change after 10.4.8 update

After the update, my eyes are picking up a universally light, bluish tinge (not as in light-blue, but as in a small amount of blue in the white) on my display (which is just the Macbook's LCD display, not an external one). Has anyone encountered this? Does anyone know a solution? I have tried to calibrate, but that didn't change anything. Maybe my eyes have something wrong with them, but the whites don't seem as "white" and the silver displayed on Safari's top toolbar doesn't seem as crisp.

I was able to return the previous color profile by copying a file called Color LCD-4271780.icc from another 10.4.7 system.

  • Mouse not working with Boot Camp after 10.5.7 update

I upgraded to 10.5.7 recently, and now my mouse doesn't work on Boot Camp. It doesn't seem to register, and I can't move the pointer. I tried this with two mice that worked just fine on the Mac OSX side. Any ideas? Has anybody else noticed this?

I have a new (July 2009) iMac24 and neither the wireless mighty mouse nor keyboard work with Boot Camp XP Home Edition SP3. They install OK with the Bluetooth control panel, but then after five or ten seconds, drop out of the control panel and have to be discovered again. I spent two hours today with a Mac support expert, but no joy. We both gave up. It seems the wireless mouse/keyboard does not work with Boot Camp. If anyone hears of a solution, please let me know.

  • Apple Mouse only scrolls in one direction after 10.6.8 update

I just updated to 10.6.8 security update, itunes and safari update (I think?) Can't remember now. The update was 10-4-11.
My Apple mouse now only scrolls in one direction. I thought is was dirty and it is not. There are posted issues with this safarie update with mouse related problems, however I am experiencing them in all programs.
Rebooted several times, re-cleaned mouse scroll ball, did the paper trick by cleaning. No success.
I can scroll down but not up. It forces me to grab the scroll bar and manually drag the scrolling window.
Again ALL programs. Was just fine right before the update. Now a problem after

  • Soun port input disappears from dialogue box after 10.6.4 update

    Title says it all really.
Selecting the sound port input has become impossible after installing 10.6.4. I can set it to work as an input in teh control panel - but it is not then shown in the list of devices that I can select within the app.
I was using it yesterday - then installed 10.6.4 and now it has gone.
As this is VITAL to my use of the mac I hope this can fixed easily otherwise I will have to downgrade.

    Hi,
I'm not sure if I am having the same issue. My mic input was working fine, then all of a sudden it stopped. I am trying to find the command "Use audio port for sound input"? Is this the command that you have found to be missing? If so how or what did you change to go 32 bit/64 bit. I can't seem to locate that command in my system>sound setup. Thanks

  • Black Box Mouse Cursor in After Effects

    Hi everyone! ☺
OK, my Adobe After Effects CS3 in my laptop has a weird mouse cursor. The cursor's not atypical mouse pointer, it looks like a black box with weird arrow-like heads at the edges. I don't why does this happen in After Effects alone. My other Adobe products do work fine.
My laptop is Sony Vaio F Series. I have a NVIDIA video card GT 300M and I already updated the  but still didn't do well.
Guys please help me out with this. I am quite desperate. I need to do a project with After Effects smoothly.
Thanks in advance guys! More power!

Hi Mylenium, I really appreciated your respone! ☺
Anyway, I still got to see if my VAIO is running an  input helper software. But I think your theory about Windows 7 not so pefectly compatible with CS3 does makes sense. I am actually running Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit). I guess CS4 will work fine for that. But to add up, I also double checked my Photoshop. It actually also has weird mouse cursor. It has 3 fading mouse pointers in a line. But I think that would do me another topic in Photoshop section.
And I might as well toggle and tweak some specific options on my NVIDIA.
Oh well, I hope I could find solution to this soon.

  • Color depth of the mouse cursor

Upgraded to srss 4.2 yesterday and discovered the addition of Xrender support. After enabling it the mouse cursor switches to an animated one. This looks really horrendous, since the mousecursor is displayed in black and white (1bit color depth). Does anyone know how to increase the color depth of the mouse cursor? The screen is configured with a color depth of 24 bits

Gnome 2.16.0 on RedHat 5.3 with Metacity as windowmanager. The mouse displays just fine, but is was real bw non animated before Xrender. Now it is animated and the animation is converted to 2 bit, including dithering for shadows. Regard this as an esthetical bug. A resolution would be to search for a 2 bit mouse theme (or create one)

  • Mouse cursor disappears after captions timing warning

This happens when I try in caption to change a time that conflicts with the following box. I punch in the illegal time by mistake, I get the warning pop up and then the mouse cursor disappears. At that point, I have to restart the software to get the cursor back back.

    Hello,
I've tried to reproduce this problem -- but so far oi have not been able to reproduce the mouse-pointer vanishing. Can you break this down into some steps?
    Like this:
    1. Launch application
    2. Via File-> New-> Captions make a new Closed Caption accepting all defaults
    3. After the caption is opened from the Project area, make a few caption blocks/ slots via a the "+" button
    4. Put text in each block
    5. in the second caption, click on the "In:" time and type 000000000 and hit RETURN key
    6. Click <OK> in the caption overlap warning
    7. ...
    8. ..
I'll try again when I see how you are getting the problem.
    Take care!

  • Gnome Black Screen with Mouse Cursor after Login

I am using Archlinux 64bit with a Gnome Desktop Environment. Everything was running normally uptill today. When i ran "sudo fc-cache", my system froze. I couldnt open any other app but i was able to access terminal. I restarted using "reboot" command. After that I was unable to log in to my desktop.
The Gnome login screen comes and after entering the correct username and password, all I can see is a black screen with mouse cursor. I then started gnome manually with "startx" and it worked. But still I am unable to use normally (that is the graphical login). I reinstalled gdm but it didnt work. Please help me out.

  • Hp Pavilion 23 Blank Screen With Mouse Cursor After Hp Logo (Not Windows Logo)

Hello my computer wont start up all i get is a black screen but i have a mouse cursor. after a little bit the computer will restart and do a automatic repair but nothing happens it just keeps on rebooting. i tired to do a bio update but it seems to not be working. there is no option in the bios to update or even in UEFI. i also did a harddrive test and got a Short DST Check fail (FAILURE ID: 909HVX-0007K0-WPU2XF-60WH03) but i still can get access to the harddrive using a Linux LiveUSB and all files are there. (Product Number Is : H5P60AAR#ABA)

It is possible to receive a false DST check but not common.
It doesn't mean your hard has failed but that it is in imminent danger of failing.
You can try again but this time using the Extended DST test.
But before doing anything I suggest you back up all your important data using that live Linux boot disk just in case.
Every hard disk manufacturer has their own diagnostic boot cd/usb. Google it.
You should create one and run it for your brand hard drive.
You should be able to determine which brand you have from the BIOS/UEFI hardware tab.
While your'e in there double check that your boot priority is set to hard drive first.
Your other issue seems to be the dreaded 'Automatic Repair Loop' which could be caused by your possibly failing hard dirve. I would fully diagnose the hard drive first.
Here's a link with several suggested fixes. Some of them require a Windows 8 boot disk, other do not.

  • PC h8-1330a with NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 after windows log in black window with only mouse cursor

    Hi
PC is an h8-1330a, and the video card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 with driver version 9.18.13.270 dated 29/08/13. connected to a samsung TV via HDMI cable. It is running windows 8.1 OS.
I have installed 1 additiona TV tuner card but otherwise the system is standard HP configuration as it was shipped.
I suspect I have had an automatic windows update mess with the pc as I turned it on and after reaching the windows log in screen and logging in, pc appears to boot into windows and I only see a black screen with the mouse cursor. I can ctrl+alt+del and see task manager but no other windows will display. I tried to switch users and log in with a different account and get the same issue.
I am struggling to enter safe mode or any other mode on boot up to see if i can roll back the video driver.
i have tried hitting esc then f11 to do a restore to no avail.
I cannot seem to enter safe mode on boot up via shift+f11 or f11.
my Dad has the same PC and is not seeing this issue.
wondering if anyone has any suggestions of things I can try?
hoping to try a software fix before trying different video cards/monitors to isolate the issue.
    cheers,
    andrew

This is not a reply. I just want to elaborate on this problem.
My computer freezes occasionally when it is used after being sleep for a while. The spinning ball appears and everything is totally disabled. Nothing on the keyboard works.
The mouse moves, but does not work.
The only solution is to turn the power off and on (losing all data in open applications.)
I kept the System monitor running on the side to find out which program was running when the computer froze. The Monitor as well as all other applications froze, but the data showed:
    Firefox 18.4%
    Activity Monitor 0.9%
    Firefox Plugin 0.2%
This is all the information I have. By the way, I am using iMac with OS 10.6.
