Mouse guidance+right click problems

I've got a strange problem with my new update (I'm not 100% sure, maybe it popped up earlier). When I change mouse location, Mac graphically handles it, but programms doesn't react. For example, I move my mouse down to dock and, for example, I point my mouse at Notes, the "Notes" cloud pops up, but when I move my mouse to other apps, it doesn't hide away and their clouds don't appear. Or, for example, when I click any menu in the menu bar, it opens, but when I move my cursor to any item, it doesn't turn blue. Programms react to changing location, only when I hold left button. And yes, my right button. It just doesn't work.

I have used that to find when the context menu is activated,
however there is no way that I have found that can tell me when the
context menu disappears..
I could put handlers on every item, but that doesn't account
for when the user doesn't select an item and left clicks back on my
application to remove the menu. Also I have no control over the
adobe specific menu items..
Does anyone out there know of an event that fires when the
context menu disappears?

  • Mighty Mouse (BlueTooth) Right Click Problem

Many times when I right click on the mouse, nothing happens.
If I move the tab (on back on mouse) covering the blue tooth signal, apple reports mouse not found. The mouse then is found and my right click function works. I did this to reset the mouse to solve the problem but it does not make it a permanent solution.
Do I have a defective mouse or is this a normal behavior with this mouse. I have used other mice before on Windows PC and no other wireless mice exhibits this behavior.

"Laser illumination is considered more superior " ???
Yes, I'm a 20+ year veteren of many Apple mice.
Laser is clearly the superior choice over the optical in the MM.
MM skips with detail moves, this Logitech mouse is precise and smooth.
The Logitech mouse is wireless and has it's own combination charger stand/bluetooth(?) reciever that just plugs into a USB port. No batteries to worry about. Plus it's more egronomic and one can do a right click and a left click at the same time, unlike a MM.
Apple's MM (in both forms) is clearly inferior, I've been through two already since they have been out. Being the Apple loyalist I am, I gave it a second try. But I need to get some work done without having to fight a greasy scroll pea and gunked up rollers with MM.
In this hardware case Apple has been clearly bested, perhaps it was intentional, who knows? Apple's MM just plain under-performs.
I'm almost positive you'll be happy with this Logitech brand/type of mouse.
I'm sure if you shop around you can find it on sale, I did for about $30. A fraction of what a wireless MM would cost you.

  • Problem with Mighty Mouse in Right Click with Windows Vista Business

    Hi APPLE,

Sometimes I get no response when i right click...when i disconnect the mouse, then right click becomes active...but after using for long, right click becomes left click and left click acts normally. Could anyone tell me why this is happening, Can anyone tell me any fix/update/patch Apple has provided for Windows Vista. Is there any driver to configure Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse in Standalone Windows Vista.

Hi, I have the same situation as u, I am also a viao laptop with Windows Vista Ultiamte, however, my BT might mouse never work at all. How did u do it ? Did u installed any software?

  • They fixed the right click problem, but now there is a bigger problem

after updating, I can use my right click perfectly on Windows XP. however, my windows XP starts to restart very often-which means the "blue-sceen" comes out very often. I believe many poeple has this problem because I had already read couple of complains...Well...I hope apple can fix it soon.

I could not right click on my macbook's Precision aluminum unibody enclosure under windows xp, and after updating the trobubleshooter, it works. However, my windows starts to restart again and again (the blue screen) and it says it is because the applemtp.sys has some problems. I read couple of others people's experiences on the Internet, and they all so it started to happen after they fix the right click problem.

  • How do I change my mouse to right click for copy and paste

How do I change my mouse to right click for copy and paste?

OK, what mouse are you using?  Brand, model?  Your right click should register as a right click unless that has been overridden by a preference pane.  If your Mouse preference pane looks like this, your right click should be the equivalent of a control-left-click on a Mac.

  • Magic mouse right click problem in Mountain Lion

    Hi!
My Magic mouse right-click doesn't work in Mountain Lion! in previous OSes it was working properly (Leopard and Lion), but when I upgrated to Mountain, this problem occured.
if you click anywhere on the magic mouse, it simply do a click, not a right-click anyway...
I did a lot of searches and changes but the problem is still alive...
somewhere suggested disabling "Secondary Click", then restart, and then enabling it. but nothing changed...
somewhere suggested to remove two files named "com.apple.Bluetooth..." in /Library/Preferences, and then restart the system, but this not worked for me, too...
I changed the "Secondary Click" to "Click on the left side" but nothing changed and the magic mouse did just clicking and not right-clicking!
I wondered what can I really do to solve this problem?!
    any suggestion is appreciated...

I still use the magic-mouse and still it's not stable. I've found theONLY way to overcome the rightclick is to make sure that you're NOT pressing anywhere else on the mouse (even touching) and only pressing at theTOP right-hand most corner.
It's not the best resolution, but the best that Applecare could provide me with. I thinjk, because it's relatively new due to the new generation of capacitive touch devices that we all get the bugs/flaws.
As like the iPhone, although an EXCELLENT device, and the various versions of OSX, we're going to be plagued eith bugs until a newer review comes out.
The way I found out was to use BOTH tools (MagicPrefs and BetterTouchTool) together, and in both set the Rightclick sensitive area to a near nothing for system wide (non app specific).
It does fail at times on some apps, and takes a few clicks, but 90% of the time it's cleared up.
I somehow think that most developers (and yes its the developers not apple) that forget that we rest out palms on the mouse) and they don't filter out the events forrectly (i.e. a palm on the mouse is seen as a tap). Othere works well, for exmaple I use photoshop, which adapted well to the mouse. The majority of games, and including those (ESPECUALLY THOSE) flash mbased, don't like the mouse at all!

  • Right click problem with Magic Mouse

I wasn't sure where to post this. Whenever I click using the right click, I get a contextual menu instead of whatever the right click was supposed to do. This is a dumb example, but for instance, playing minesweeper, the right click is supposed to create a flag on the space, but in stead I get the menu drop down. Does anybody know how to fix this? I don't think I always had this problem, but now it happens all the time.

I came here searching for my mom, and this is the same issue she is having. Oddly enough, she is specifically having trouble with a Minesweeper type game lol I was also thinking it is not actually a mouse problem because she can't control/command click either. I think she's only had the problem in Safari, should we be looking in the Safari forum? Oh, she has a brand new (2 months?) iMac with the i3 Intel chip.

  • Mouse - right click problem

I have a standard non-Mac mouse which has been working well until today. Usually, I can highlight a text on the web and request a google search by right clicking on the highlighted text. For some reason this isn't working anymore. Now, when I right click, the screen reduces size (and returns to normal size by right clicking again). How can I set the right click to give me google search options?

The only thing that has zoom or zoom-like is Universal Access and Exposé. Try the Exposé preferences. In the Exposé prefs, you can set function keys and right next to them mouse buttons to activate the functions. If it is set, change it to a dash ( - ).

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse Looses Right Click Functionality

I am using a new Wireless Mighty Mouse (about one month old) With new batteries.
Since I started using it, the (secondary) right click would stop function after repeated use. After many frustrating trouble shooting attempts, I discovered that the Right Click will work again if the mouse is left idle for about 15 - 20 minutes.
I will like to know if this is a defect that's inherent in the Mighty Mouse system, and if so, has anyone found a solution to this problem or is there a fix?
Any input would be very much appreciated
    Mac G5. 2ghz DP   Mac OS X (10.4.8)
    Mac G5. 2ghz DP   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Unfortunately my experience suggests no. I'm on my 5th (or is it 6th?) wireless Mighty Mouse now, and they've all behaved just as you described. The latest replacement was only a week ago. I suspect the only point in replacing it further times would be to demonstrate that you've tried all you can. As far as I can tell, my only recourse at this point is convincing Apple to refund me, which is a shame because I like the scroll ball design.
I should note that I'm in Australia, in case stock has been slower to update here, but it shouldn't make a difference...
I've noticed that the problem seems to occur a lot more frequently under hot conditions - room heater on, hot hands etc. Could it still think the left button is being touched because it's warm and/or sweatier than usual?

  • Magic Mouse No Right Click and 10.10.1

Updated to the latest version of OS X, and now both of my Magic Mice won't register a right (contextual) click. Is this a known bug? it's obviously not a device problem, given that neither of my mice have a problem. I'll have to look and see if my laptop is on the previous version and is exhibiting the same problem.

Got imac 27" i7 yesterday loaded , migrated among other things clicked mouse preferences under system prefs and also clicked to enable right click on new magic mouse.  Ran fine until next day, got a hole bunch of keychain authorization accesses requests for icloud and it's products, everyone I had clicked the day earlier for the initial setup on this new imac, but also more to the point the right click on the new magic mouse was now not functioning.  So I check the mouse perfs again, and the right click was checked so unchecked and re-checked, but no fixes , still right click not functioning, right click was acting like normal left click on any browser links.  So I simply shut down, ( the iconic fix all solution no one wants to believe in ) and upon reboot functionality of right click on magic mouse came back. So I'll call it a fluke, if it comes back randomly I'll assume it's a possible bug in osx 10.10.2  as well as possibly 10.10.1?  Anyway that's it so far.

  • Apple Mouse (mighty mouse?) Right clicks too often

I have the Apple Mouse (former Mighty Mouse) and I have right click turned on.  The mouse is constantly doing "right click" when I click left.  I look and my finger is well to the left of the little scroll wheel.
I thought "Oh maybe it's sensing the whole panel and I'm pushing in a funny angle" but no, I paid attention and  I was not.
I'm just wondering, is this a common problem with this mouse?   Or is my particular mouse defective?

I have a 2011 iMac and the batteries in my Magic Mouse need changing every couple of months.  In contrast, my wireless keyboard only needs a battery change every 10 months or so.  I bought an Apple battery charger and keep the spare set of batteries always charged.
I think that is the way it is - mouse uses more juice than keyboard (or gets more use so runs down faster).  However, if it gets worse than 2 weeks life, it may be time to invest in a new mouse.

  • My mouse only right clicks

I am having a problem with my mouse it seems to only right click. I checked in the setting menu but doesn't work the only solution I can figure out is to restart but mouse messes up after a few minutes. with the mouse problems I cannot do anything to the point I am posting this on my macbook. any help would be great.
    thanks

It's not an ideal solution but one thing you can try is System Preferences > Mouse > uncheck Secondary click.
This will disable the right click function.  When you want to do a "right click" you can hold down the Control key as you left click.  This will create the secondary click function.

  • Mighty Mouse lost right click and track ball 'click' in upgrade to Lion

I upgraded my MBP to Lion at the community's recommendation and things have been going pretty well except for one major annoyance.  My mighty mouse, that worked perfectly on Snow Leopard no longer is able to right click or trackball 'click'.  If I try to do right click or use the trackball click all I get is a normal click.  I have no idea what to do, I've tried un-pairing the mouse and resetting it up, but the mouse seems to keep its unique identifier so when I re-pair it the computer recognizes it as a mouse it has seen before.  Though I'm not sure if being able to change this would matter or help.  Thanks for any input!

    Hey,
I just talked to German Apple telephone support. They fixed the problem for me! With fresh  installs of 10.7.5 the problem is that two files are missing that are needed for the mouse. In my case I could get them from another computer I own that ran Lion and did have the files. To get to the files you need do this:
    Go to
    /System/Library/LoginPlugins/BezelServices.loginPlugin
control-click that file and choose "show contents"
now in the finder window navigate to
    Contents/PlugIns/
In this folder should be two files named
    AppleBluetoothHIDMouse.plist
    and
    AppleHIDMouse.plist
If you don't find these files, you need to get them and put them in.

  • Wired Mighty Mouse and right click on my intel  imac

    Hi,
    This is a stumper!
    1) Wired mighty mouse stated to lose right click functions. Control click
works fine but right click with menus is gone.
    2) Tried steer mouse. No change
    3) Deleted hidmouse user prefs. No change.
    4) System Archive and install. no change
    5) Clean install and Account reinstall (by hand). no change
    6) Nuke and Pave. no change
    7.) Pram reset. no change
    8) Mouse works on other Macbook- not a mouse problem.
    9) Second Mighty mouse exhibits the same problem.
    10) logging into second account. no change
    11) Other 2 button mice work!
    12) I like my mighty mouse, but I need right click!!
    13) Tried Apple Dev hid driver debug . no change
    14) Tried a bunch of other things but this has me stumped....
(and I'm Apple Certified) any other suggeestions or software
I can try? Context plugins are ok...but I'm not sure if there are other prefes to deleted? Also, a totally fresh install should have fixed this...what's going on here? I need to know.

What is strange about my mighty mouse which also experiences similar issues is that you have to be careful where you are pushing it. My right tbutton is set as a control click but if I don't push it in the very upper right hand of the mighty mouse it behaves as a single click. The left hand button, as such, does not seem to be as sensitive to placement as the right hand one. For a long while I could not get it to work at all, until I figured out where I actually had to strike it.
I had never used a mighty mouse until I purchased a new iMac a couple of weeks ago and just figured it was "operator difficulty" as I am far more used to a trackball than a mouse. I may still go back to one if I can't get used to this mouse. I think you really have to put your whole hand over the mouse to make it function properly and I tend not to do that.
Does this help you with your issue? I am not sure, maybe there is some sort of difference in the way the mighty mouse works with new hardware?
Good Luck! Wish I had more to offer other than trying carefully to position your handin difernt places and see if that helps.

  • Safari 3.1's right click problem opening links in new tabs

For those of us who use a two-button mouse and like to open links in new tabs, Safari 3.1 has introduced problems that didn't previously exist. Right-click to open a new tab, then go back to the original document, and the problem appears. The mouse cursor no longer underlines links that are scrolled over. That makes it hard to tell if links are live or not. To restore that capacity, you have to left click somewhere on the page. Only then does normally underlining resume.
A minor thing, but one that adds dozens of clicks to my day that weren't there before. Is there any way to avoid it?

I have exactly the same problem, and i dont know what could be the reason. i tried different things, reapir permissions, reinstall Safari, clear the cache without any result. also if the link has a floating/bubble window (or what), it freezes too, and have to click somewhere else into the page to clear them. very annoying. =(
...on Windows it works correctly by the way...
