Mouse hover description - Character Limit

Hi,
I would like to know what is the character limit for the presenation column desctiption that we give in RPD?
Our customers are planning to have lengthy descriptions as part of mouse hover description.
Please let me know if you have any clue on it.

I've seen some very lengthy column and other object descriptions built into the RPD.
I've yet to see one get cut off.
However, looking through the documentation I don't see a specific reference to a limit on this field's input. Possibly this is because the structure of the RPD is XML and it can potentially handle as must text as you want to throw at it and store it in it CDATA[] encased element.
If you really want to test this you can do it your self by taking a block of text, doing a word count in MS Word or the like and copy and pasting the text into the description field, saving, and running a consistency check until you see if throw an error.

Question: Is the future of iCal now reduced to a 300 character description limit? That would be devastating to me and a horrible step BACKWARDS for me and my clients. I use iCal Description field for notes on a client visit. I have many clients that also have extensive notes in there events. Are they truncated if moved to MobileMe? I HATE the nightmare of Sync Services **** and was hoping that CalDav would be a step forward. Am i missing something. The 20,000 events limit is also a big problem. In 5 years along i have 20,000 events.... What happens when i have 20 years of iCal data?

I did lots of testing last night on this issue.
It's quite repeatable. I tested it on LV 7.1 (OSX) and the bug is there, but LV 8b120 works OK.
I have attached the LLB that I sent to tech support.
Here is the report I sent:

If I add two characters to any item in this enum,
LabVIEW will CRASH when I apply changes. The
crash occurs without actually RUNNING the
program.
I have tested on LabVIEW 7.0 (Win2000) and

LabVIEW 8.0 b120 (OS X) does NOT crash - it
works correctly.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1... Open the library and keep HDT SORT
CHANNELS INTO PAGES.vi open.
2... Open HDT UNITS CONTROL.ctl in the library.
3... Add two or more characters to any item in
the ENUM.
4... APPLY CHANGES
5... Watch LabVIEW crash.
It certainly leads to bizarre behavior - If you remove the UNITS control from the HDT DISPLAY UNITS vi while you change the typedef, there is no crash. But as soon as you put it back and wire it to the connector, ALL the terminals turn to (void).

Is there a character limit in Mail on iPhone or iPad?

When composing an email message, in the Mail app, is there a character limit in the body of the email on an iPhone or iPad?

I did lots of testing last night on this issue.

Review Activity - Change Comments window 256 character limit

The Comments window for review activities is by default set to a 256 character limit. We need to change its size so reviewers can fully comment on their approval/rejection of a CR. As a workaround for now, we have them providing larger comments
in the Notes section of the CR. What would be the best approach to customize Comments to meet this need?

Here's what I meant, not sure if this will satify your requirements, but I suggest it anyways.
Using the authoring tool, I extended the class and added Larger_Comment_Property. Then I added a text box below the Reviewers section bound to the Larger_Comment_Property that would take as much as 4000 characters. It is not per reviewer but is generally
available to all.

SRM Portal - Hover descriptions for the text and buttons

Hi,
In the SRM Portal (5.0), the standard hover description for text and text fields is "Area for Input Fields".
Hover descriptions are those little boxes that appear when you mouse over fields, offering additional info about the fields.
In the HTML templates, there is no perceivable way to edit these fields. I have tried to edit the tooltip for these fields in the screen painter for these screens (SE51 Layout), but that doesn't work.
Has anyone been able to accomplish this? Can anyone offer any advice?

The function 'BBPSC_TD_FIELD' gives no parameters for changes to the hover descriptions:

Like you said, I might need to create my own function here. I can't change the standard function, since it's called from almost every template, so creating my own would be best.
It's hard to understand what to change exactly. From where are the input parameter (FieldName_p, maxLength_p) values pulled/callled? Hmm. How do I name mine and what else ...

How can I get around the character limit in the "print pages" option

I have a rather large PDF file and I need to print certain pages (for example, pages 1, 324, 456, 759, 812, 946, 1206, 1562, 1792, etc.). However, when I click on print and try to type in the pages, there is a character limit, and it is much smaller than the number of characters I need to type. Is there a way around this? Thanks.

OK I figured out the answer. Ctrl+J opens up the console (You have to activate javascript). The following script will extract the pages into a new document, and then you can simply print those pages. All you need to do is fill up the "pageArray" array with a list of your pages, separated by commas. It does not support ranges.

Character Limit to Custom Calculation Script?

Hi. I have a document that has a text form field. I want to run a custom calculation script that basically says if field "Group Number" = xxxxxxx, then field "Group Name" should = ABC Company.
I have a list of almost 575 group numbers and names that I need to put in the script. And I've got the script working just fine but I am guessing there is a character limit to the script field???? It won't let me put my full list in there.
Any suggestions on how to get around this??

I think I might have one error but I thought I had corrected it. Let me run this by you. My "if" lines are like this:

When you use a sql query like select emp_add from XY
And IF emp_add contains more then 1000 chracters then you are not able to see the full data on the report or on a column
Is it the case or are you looking into some other aspect.

Bubble Chart mouse hover issue

Hi,
we are facing problem in removing mouse hover data point in the bubble chart.
Requirement is such that we do not want to show a data point in mouse hover in a bubble chart.Since size of bubbles in the chart have been mapped with these values,these are necessarily shown as a data points in mouse hover.
Is there any means by which we can continue mapping size to these data values and still not show in the bubble chart mouse hover.

Mouse hover doesn't produce preview in an application

I use a Bible program called Logos 5. For months I have had an issue where my mouse hover over a reference doesn't produce a preview, but only in one area of the program - my personal notes.
Recevied an email from the comany that said,
That specific tool tip is one that we are relying on Apple to make a call back to us for it to appear. What this means is at some point you, or a piece of software you’ve installed, or changed settings from, has modified the Apple tool-tip settings which is, in this case, disabling that tool-tip. The fact that it does appear when you hold down a modifying key also points to the fact that this is a system setting that has been modified.
Any clue what program or setting could have interfered? I do not have this problem on an older iMac with the same program & files loaded.

I have got LabVIEW 8.0. I make a VI for discovering BT targets. It works fine on my computer and also fine when I make a application.
I don't have any problem with this function and the discovering of BT
target. I made the test of the PC of my collaegue and It works fine too.

I'm trying to display a long text (+100.000 characters) stored in a MySql database in CrystalReports but CR is not showing the complete text. Is this because there is a length limit for fields in CR?

This is not a great answer, but you can base your report on a SQL Command, then use something like this for the command(MS SQL):

Is there a character limit for iTunes U course postings when viewing in iOS app?

I have created a course in iTunes U using the web interface, but when I view the course on my iPad it doesn't show the entire post. Is there a character limit in the app or something for what will display?
To make things even stranger, I went back to the course editor in my browser and saved it again (effectively re-posting it) and when I restarted the iTunes U app in iOS the post was cut even shorter! I'm using an iPad 3rd gen with iOS 6.0.1.

No, there is no workaround. You would need to find a downloadable copy of old apps.

Making tooltip appear on other events (not just mouse hover)

Is there a way to make tooltip text appear besides merely the mouse hover event? For example, could you set it to appear with Click, Enter, Exit and/or Change?
And if you can, will those pesky Javascript warnings popup too?

I have three iPhone users here at work who are experiencing similar symptoms, also all starting yesterday afternoon (February 4, 2014). All events still appear in the calendars on their iPhones, but very few events appear in their calendars on iCloud.com website.
For days that show some items, viewing that day in "Day mode" on iCloud.com then causes the missing events to appear for that day. But some days show no events at all on iCloud.com, and viewing those days in "Day mode" does nothing.
All three users tend to have lots of "all-day" events on their calendars.
It is as though the iCloud.com website's calendar is not properly refreshing or displaying the events which are clearly still saved in their iCloud accounts.
(As a side, all three users can still see all events in Outlook on their PCs, which is set to sync with the iCloud accounts).
Anyone else seeing this or have any suggestions?

JKM DB2 400 column and table name 10 character limit

I am trying to set up CDC on an iSeries. I have successfully loaded data with the LKM SQL to Oracle, and now I want to set up CDC for the table and am trying to use "JKM DB2 400" . I get invalid token errors when I try to start journalizing, and it appears to be the table and column names, used to set up CDC, which are more than the 10 character limit. Tables like SNP_JRN_SUBSCRIBER seem to come from the getJrnInfo function and other table and column names are hard coded. I want to copy the JKM and reduce all of the names to less than 10 characters.
Where else are these names used? How does the interface know which table names to use when set to use only journalized data and how can I change it to use the new shorter names? Is there a better solution?

Thanks to all for assistance. It turns out that the 10 character limit, about which the server people warned me, isn't an issue with my ODBC connection. The invalid token error was being caused by some missing qualifiers in the generated sql which caused appearances of ".tablename" rather than "tablename" and other similar. I was able to modify the knowledge module to eliminate this issue and the CDC worked correctly on my first test.
