Mouse just stopped -

I've read thorough a lot of the responses here but still having a problem. My mouse just stopped working - batteries are fine, I trashed the preferences, SMC and still no change. No changes in programs or anything at all. Just that I put machine to sleep over night instead of shutting down which I usually do. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi again:
I'm full of questions, but I do not want to waste yoru time.
Is the Bluetooth icon showing in the menu bar?
If so, do this (although you have done some of it before).
Trash the preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) and restart.
Reset the SMC:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Turn the mouse off. Restart and then turn the mouse on.
Barry
P.S. I suppose the mouse could have died. If you are close to an Apple store, you might try it on one of their computers.

  • My magic mouse just stopped working

My magic mouse just stopped working. I have rebooted the iMac and changed the batteries. Nothing is fixing it. What do I do next? When I turn the mouse on the green light on the bottom stays on for a few seconds and then flashes twice, pause and repeat.
On a side note. I just brought home a MBP about an hour before the issue. I turned bluetooth off on the MBP but could it be the problem? It was working fine with both machines on for about an hour.

OK somehow after a couple restarts it fixed itself. ANy idea on why it did that?
    Thanx for any help

  • NF 980 PS2 Mouse & Keyboard PS2 IC just stopped working.

Hello, My PS2 Mouse & Keyboard intergrated circuit connections just stopped working. My Rig is only 6weeks old & was using Win 7 Ultimate 64bit. Everything was fine untill yesterday. all of a sudden the connections don't work. I tried doing a system restore. rebooted several times, unplugged & reconnected both mouse & Keyboard plugs to the PS2 connections & still not being recognized at boot up. I plugged in a USB Mouse & Keyboard adaptor & is working fine. I'm thinking something happend to the IC chip. Are these Mobo's known for this problem? I don't think I'm going to RMA the Mobo unless something else happens.
Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

    Hey Fredrik,
Thank you very much. All I did was shut down & remove the power plug like you suggested & removed the USB Mouse/Keyboard adaptor, & plugged back into the PS2 IC Connections, & it's working great.
     Could you explain what happen?
    Hi,
Keyboards and mice have electronic circuitry.  When you just reboot or reset the machine, voltage still goes to the peripherals like the keyboard and mouse.
It sounds like, for some reason, the keyboard and mouse got into a non-working state, but when you rebooted or reset your machine, since power was still going to the keyboard and mouse, they didn't get reset.
When you unplugged the power, that removed power from everything (well, almost), including the peripherals, so that would've reset the keyboard and mouse.
If you have an external/USB hard drive, you can see this behavior by watching the drive light.  When you shutdown your machine, the drive light will stay on, unless you unplug from the wall, or flip the switch on the back of the power supply.

  • Help?  My BT Wireless just stopped working (BT Mouse is OK)

Normally the wireless keyboard that came with the iMac (intel) is reliable, its about 4 yrs old now
but today - it just stopped working?
Although it shows (menu) as being connected (BT) and Batteries are at 100%,  I can no longer get
keyboard output... and this applies to any running application.
Its not been dropped or mistreated - its just stopped working. I have restarted the iMac but to no avail.
I am using the older USB Keyboard as a stop gap.
    My queries are;
         1. Has this keyboard just simply worn out or developed an internal fault ??
         2. Has anyone else experienced this or had similar problems ??
         3. Is there some way I can check the integrity of the BT or the Keyboards communications with the iMac ?
All help to solving this problem - will be most appreciated
Running Mac OSX 10.9.4 on Intel iMac (2CD) 8GB RAM

    Hi Barry.
    Thanks for your response.....
As mentioned I did restart the iMac which I believe also resets the PR (chime) during that  process.
However I will try specifically zapping the PR - several times like the old days and Mac OS 9.
    and come back to you

  • Mouse & Keyboard Stop Responding....Please, Help!!!

    Hi Guys,
For some time now I'm expriencing problems with my Logitech Mouse M-U0007 freezing up and sometimes my Apple keyboard will as well.  I have to unplug them at least twice to get them moving again & it happens several times per hour.  I'm running 10.6.8 on a MAC Pro Dual Core Intel Xeon.  I have no idea what causes it.  It happens while running various programs (Logic, Word, etc.) & definitely while browsing the Internet (I use Chrome although it happens with Safari & FIrefox as well.)  I've updated the drivers for the mouse.  I often have to restart the computer to get movement again.
Does anyone know why this might be happening?  Is there something I can do?
    Thank you so much!!!!

    Hi again,
I still suspect a faulty USB port.
Your response is still a bit confusing, so just to be sure:
    - Did you also try a USB port on the backside of your Mac?
(if your keyboard is usually connected to the frontside, and you normally plug the mouse into the keyboard, it doesn't help to try testing it by plugging it directly in the front port, if this port is faulty, it's still the same port. If this is your situation, definitely try a port on the back)
    - When you connected the other (older) mouse and keyboard, they were initially not recognized, but they were after rebooting, so did they function properly after this reboot? Did you connect these on the same port you usually connect your Logitec and keyboard to, or did you try different ports?
    - Do you have access to another mouse and or keyboard, which is 100% sure known to work perfectly on another computer? If yes, try this on your mac.
    - When you tried the mouse and keyboard on the Macbook Air, did you try it long enough to be 100%sure they work fine? Let's say at least 3-5 times longer then the average freezing intervals on your mac? (If you just tested briefly, you can't be sure.)
    - How does it freeze? The pointer just stops moving? or do you see a spinning beachball?
    Another thing:
You are posting in the Power Mac forum
you should actually post this in the Mac Pro forum
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/desktop_computers/mac_pro
although they look similar, the older Power Mac line were equiped with IBM PPC processor(s), and the newer Mac Pro line features Intel CPU's.
You will likely get more help if you post in the right forum, which is more active.
You can refer to this thread though

  • Bluetooth has just stopped working

    Here's the background information:
    1. I've been working with a Mighty Mouse via a D-Link DBT-120 Nodule since the MM came out and everything was fine.
    2. Spilled orange juice on it and got a new one.
    3. New one worked for about three weeks and then just stopped connecting.
    4. I replaced the existing batteries (that were as old as the mouse)... nothing.
    5. I started going through the posts and trying the different remedies (e.g., pulling out all USB and Firewires before rebooting, et al.)... nothing.
    6. I paired the mouse with two other computers (both Intel) and it works.
    Here's the part I haven't read about:
I just went to System Preferences, clicked on "Bluetooth," and my System Preferences got hung up (spinning ball) for about three or four minutes while the top of the window said "Loading Bluetooth...". Once in, all four checkboxes were checked. I clicked on the second tab "Devices" and it hung again. Same for the third "Sharing." To write this post, I just tried it again, and the same thing is happening.
As for other devices, I was able to connect to my phone until this morning, and now I can't connect to that either (just installed the latest security update over the weekend).
Any help is appreciated? Should I get a new nodule? Different brand of nodule? Thanks for any help anyone can offer.
    Thanks in advance!

  • HP X4000b Bluetooth Mouse (H3T50AA) stops working if not moved for a while, then computer crashes

I will be very happy if someone answers this, 'cos from all the other related posts, my outlook is pretty bleak. At least give me the thumbs up for trying, or a little human contact. Proof this post existed.
Alright, I (fairly) recently updated to windows 8.1on my Samsung quad-core notebook - Model is NP905S3G
For the full info- see the picture.
Anyway, the problem is, that ever since I installed Windows 8.1, if I don't move the mouse for around 1minute when it is on (i.e. I just leave it still for 1 min because I'm typing stuff), it stops working. Moving the mouse simply doesn't do anything. If I look on the 'devices' screen, it is still shown as connected, and I can try re-connecting it, but it doesn't work. Turning on and off doesn't work. Pressing that little blue 'connect' button doesn't seem to do anything normally, and in this case, does nothing. Un-installing and re-installing the mouse does not permanently solve the problem (but does restore connectivity, at least until I leave the mouse idle for too long again)
Currently, once the mouse has stopped moving on the screen, I press the power button (which for me makes my computer sleep). When I do this 1 of 2 things happen; either it goes to sleep as instructed, or it stays on indefinitely, and I have to hold the power button for 5 seconds to do an emergency shut-down. This is a pain, especially since nothing is saved, and the computer takes extra-long to turn on the next time.
The real problem is this: about five minutes after the mouse becomes unresponsive, the computer crashes. It is during this five minute period that I can save all my stuff, but if I have been typing non-stop, I may not even notice that the mouse has stopped moving, and so the computer often crashes at unpredictable times. This of course is a major annoyance, and what’s more, sometimes just when I click a link my mouse freezes, and I have to restart my computer or let it crash.
The crash message is DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE, and comes on a blue screen with a message saying the computer is collecting some error info, and a silly little smiley face. I have come to hate that smiley face.
If you’ve read this far, thank you very much, PLEASE FIND A SOLUTION, MY MOUSE IS PRETTY UNUSABLE AT THE MOMENT
PS. When I feel it is too risky to use a mouse, I use the touchpad. The setting where tapping=clicking really annoys me, and I also don’t like the inverted scrolling. I change these settings on my preferences, but for some reason they are never saved once I turn my computer on. They used to be saved before updating from Windows 8 to 8.1. Any suggestions?

Not actually solved. The problem still happens and isn't limited to me or my headset.
I just want this question out of my sidebar and this is the only way to do that!

  • CS4 Illustrator wont save to PDF, programe just stops

Upgraded from CS2 to CS4 and everything is woking fine.
But when I try and save a file from Illustrator CS4 to a PDF the programe just stops working.  The mouse pointer moves fine and I can use other applications on the machine.
The machine is a P3 with 4 Gb of RAM on an SBS network.
Moved the default printer to Adobe PDF and nothing changes.  Even if I put one word on a blank A4 page in Illusrator still get the same fault.
Desperately need to save some work for a printer in H-Res PDF with bleed and trim.  Windows XP Prof with Service Pack 3.
    Please help Chris

    Hi Skullmarker
Yep, that did the trick!  Did the Shift Alt Control when Illustrator started, which reset all the preferences and that cured the problem!
Many many thanks, can get my work to the printers at last.
    Top man, many thanks

My mac has been doing this for about 1 and half weeks now i don't know why it's happening, i'm just useing it like i always do like checking emails, editing videos, looking at the web and then it just stops the only thing i can do is move the mouse, even the time stops on it? Anyone have any ideas?

Yes it is true Apple do recommend the update. They also give a step by step guide that must be followed. They also offer a CD restore if all goes wrong. I don't work for Apple, I am just spending my precious time trying to help put someone on the right course.
If you don't want to try what I recommend please take your machine back to Apple. I am sure they will sort it out for you.

Why has my magic mouse suddenly stopped working? I'm using 10.6.8

We can't know. You have not told us what exactly the problem is. If there are any warnings, you need to provide them along with other info like the crash logs. If not you have to explain the situation in more detail. Just saying that it doesn't work anymore is not particularly useful.

In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes, Sync and see if it is working now.

At various stages over the years, mouse-related iTunes trouble has been associated with driver conflicts. So it might be worth following up on that possibility.
Head to the drivers and downloads page for your model of PC, and check to make sure you're not behind on any chipset and input-device-related driver updates. (And while there, just in case, also check to make sure your BIOS, sound-card/integrated audio, and video-card/display-adaptors are up to date.)
If you're behind on anything, and you update, does that help with the mouse-related iTunes issues?

  • Mac just stops responding.

    Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me. I got this iMac last Christmas and love it. But over the last few days it just stops responding. I have Safari and Firefox both are the same. Everything is running great then all of a sudden I get the beach ball and then I can't get the mouse to move and can not do a thing with it. I have all my updates and have checked my connections. I have to unplug the main switch to get it to restart again. I have reset Safari to many times to mention and have checked to make sure I don't have a trojan. I'm not great on this as I was used to having a PC for the last 15 years. I am on ATT with a fast connection.. Any help would be great but please remember I have a hard time even finding stuff on here as I'm still getting used to it..
    Thank you,
    Shan.

While not quite the same as a problem I have been having it may be related. My system would freeze up for about 30 seconds and then return to normal. During the freeze I could move the mouse but would get a beach ball when I moved the pointer over an open window. I would also hear a lot of hard drive activity and I would also get a spike in network traffic.
This all started happening after a security update on the 14th of November and part of the time I would get a Safari crash when the freeze ended. This led to remembering an article I had read about Safari getting anti-phishing technology in that update. So I decided to try turning it off.
Look in Safari - Preferences and click on the security tab. Try unchecking the Fraudulent Sites box and then close out the window. In my case I went for a few days without a freeze until this morning. I installed the latest Safari update this AM and turned Fraudulent Sites warning back on. Within 10 minutes I got my first freeze. I went back in and turned it back off and have been running for over an hour without another freeze.
I would appreciate it if you would give this a try and see what happens. It would be nice if it fixes your problem because that would confirm my solution.
