Mouse lagg when dual monitor di connected

Hi. This is very strange. I have i dvi adapter with a samsung 19" attached. when the monitor is on and connected all seems to be fine and works perfect but when i turn off the monitor the mouse on snow leopard starts lagging. it's very very annoying. even if it's plugged off and even if i press the source button for changing to vga. I have to plug off the dvi cable until I'll use it again and this is annoying too. I googled and seems to be a well-know problem but no one has the solution.
I have snow leopard up to date and magic mouse on imac 21.5"
Thanks for help

  • MacBook Air is getting hot when external monitor is connected - restart solves the problem

I have a two weeks old Mac Book Air 11" (128GB / 4GB / i5). Sometimes when I connect it to my external monitor, the FAN is getting loud and the MacBook becomes very warm on the surface near the "F3 button". The activity monitor says CPU is at 0-1% and there's no process that causes any CPU load (I switched to "show all processes" of course). Nevertheless something makes the Mac becoming hot. A simple restart while the external monitor is connected solves the issue completely, temperature and fan speed are instantly decreasing. Is this a issue related to the graphics driver? For me it seems the behavior is caused by the graphics processor rather than by the i5 CPU as activity monitor does not show any process causing high CPU load.
    Known issue?
    Thanks!

I was runnig into the same problem. Plugging in to the apple 23" display at work worked well, but when I plugged in my Dell 23" at home the fan started being noisy...
ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION: it seems to me that putting the air to into SLEEP MODE and back solves it as well!!
    I will confirm later on.

  • Can't connect to my wifi network when external monitor is connected

The computer is a very new Retina Macbook Pro. The monitor is an older Alienware/Benq 20" (3:4) LCD. I'm using a DVI to mini-displayport adaptor and plugging into the thunderbolt ports on the Macbook Pro. Router is a Belkin F5D8233 Wireless N router. As soon as I connect the monitor my connection to my wifi network times out and refuses to let me connect (every attempt just results in a "connection timed out" error). However, I was surprised to find that I could connect to my neighbor's network without any issue. Anybody have any idea what the issue could be?

Maybe related to bullet #7 here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1365.

  • Mac air freezing or jumpy when dual monitor

    Hi there,
I'm working with a PC and a Mac at the same time. Sometimes I need to have the Mac dual screen and sometimes I need the PC to be dual screen, so I have a monitor with two inputs (Samsung S22C200), with the Mac plugged into the DVA port and the PC plugged into the RGB/VGA port. when I
The problem is, when I am displaying the PC on the monitor, the Mac will become very 'jumpy' as in, the will freeze for about 4 seconds in every 6, which is really annoying. I suppose the Mac doesn't like its monitor being extended into empty space. There are no problems with the PC. Has anyone else encountered such a problem, and does anyone know how to solve it?
    Many thanks,
    Alistair

Does the Acer have automatic input selection? When the computer goes to sleep, there is no DVI signal,so the display may switch inputs, so not immediately notice when the DVI signal returns when the computer wakes. While switch to the other input, some displays to not provide resolution information on the DVI port, so when the computer wakes, it thinks the display has gone, and may switch to a default resolution. If the display switches back to the DVI port, it will then see the wrong resolution. The graphics card, though, is now seeing the ressolution information from the display, and may change to match. It may take a while for things to settle. Can you set the ACER to stay on the DVI port? If not, a DVI Detective may help.

  • USB mouse freezes when external HD is connected

Not sure who to contact on this one.  I purchased some music software from East/West and it came on a Western Digital hard drive.  Every time I connect the hard drive, my mouse freezes and I can't open the drive.  Any ideas???  Sounds like a compatibility issue but the HD is supposed to be for Mac.

    - Have you tried another cable for HD?
    - If you open Finder. unplug the mouse and then plug the HD in does the HD appear in Finder (it has to be formatted for a Mac to appear)
    - Have you tried on anther computer? Either Mac or PC.
    - Do other devices like USB thrumb drive work on the Mini?

  • Problems (not responding) when monitor not connected

    Hi All,
I have been having problems with certain applications when using my macbook without the LED Cinema display connected.  When the monitor is connected there are no problems at all, but if it is disconnected and I try to open Google Chrome it just bounces in the dock for a while and then becomes not "not responsive" in the activity monitor.  When I force quit Chrome, I get the ignore / report dialog and the Chrome window popups very briefly and disappears when I close that dialog.
Similarly if I attempt to open file in Sublime Text it hangs before opening the file dialog and is marked as "not responsive" also.  Same for MS Office (OS X version of office) when trying to open a file.  Other applications like Safari, Firefox and Xcode open ok and the file open dialogs open ok too.
Sometimes if I leave the laptop for a long time (30mins to many hours) the applications will come back and then work.
I have been trying identify the cause for a long time and recently I discovered that the problems only occur when the monitor is disconnected.  If I restart with the monitor connected the problems do not arise.  I tested it repeatedly by connecting and disconnecting the monitor and the issue always corresponded to the monitor being disconnected.
When started in "safe mode" the problems do not occur even with the monitor unplugged.  I also uninstalled a number of applications I thought could causing issues but none of these had any affect.  I also removed all applications from the startup for my account, again no improvement.  I also enabled the guest account to see if it was a problem with my account but the issues occurred as the guest user.
A number of web searches suggested reinstalling Chrome, checking permissions of the application directories and restarting with option + command + p + p held down until the startup sound plays twice.  Not of these suggestions fixed the problem.
My macbook details are as follows:
    Macbook Pro 15"
Processor  2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 MB
    Software  OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)
And the monitor is an Apple LED Cinema Display 27"
Hopefully someone can help me resolve this very frustrating problem, my laptop is of little use when not connected to the monitor because of this.
I have pasted the report from Chrome when I force quit it as it may help identify the problem.
    Many Thanks,
    Stef

  • Dual monitor rotation does not work :(

    Hi Everyone,
I have a Mac Pro. It has a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT Graphics card, and I am trying to connect two monitors to it and have them both rotated at 90 degrees. This is possible when one monitor is connected. It is also possible to have both monitors connected and on rotated and the other not. But when I try to rotate both, the secondary display just goes black. The cursor still appears when I mouse over that monitor, but no windows show up on it. Any ideas as to how I can fix this so that I can have both monitors connected and rotated 90 degrees?
    The monitors are,
    Dell2407WFp, and Dell2408WFP
    Thanks!

Assuming that you do not see the lock icon which would indicate that the screen is in fact locked ....
Quit the mail app completely and reboot. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Crazy crazy crazy! Airport loses internet when second monitor attached!

Can this really be happening? I decided to try using a second monitor attaching via a mini dvi -dvi converter. Several attempts to get it recognised by the iMac without any success. Scoured the internet groups to see that very many (and I mean very many) others had this problem.
Solved it by swapping my dvi-I lead for a dvi-D lead. The difference is that the DVI-I lead has fewer pins than the DVI-D lead and the iMac mini dvi socked supplies a DVI-D signal. Phew!
So--pleased with myself at surmounting this I fired up Final Cut Pro, dragged the canvas window to the second monitor and had to play around with the resolution setting to get a stable playing of the timeline.
Decided to go on online and see if I was alone on this.
    NO INTERNET CONNECTION!!!
30 mins later decided to unplug the second monitor (Philips 200) and got back my inet connection.
Tried the routine again and sure enough each time the second monitor was connected I lost the Airport connection!
Is it possible that the proximity of the second monitor fouls the wireless signal?
    Or what?

    Kaybee31 wrote:
So far no one has either claimed the same problem or offered a possible explanation.
As I said this loss of internet connection when 2nd monitor is connected is unbelievably odd.
It sounds like another case of EMI (Electromagnetic interference). I believe this is at the root of all these weird Airport or wireless problems. Interestingly enough many of these anomalies are exhibited on the newer generation Macs. Different materials were used, shielding could have been compromised either for cost cutting or by design error. Regardless I'm sure Apple is aware, unfortunately those who purchased these machines may be in the worse case, left with hard wiring for reliable internet and or network connections.......sorry.....

You can use USB for the Apple trackpad.

  • I have 12 core with Quatro 4000 and 5770, I want to use dual monitor setup, monitors are NEC with Spectraview-II.  How do I connect?  4000 only has 1 Display Port and 1 DVI.  5770 has 2 of each, if I use both 5770 Display Ports, does the 4000 contribute?

I just bought a 12 core with Quatro 4000 and 5770, I want to use dual monitor setup, monitors are NEC with Spectraview-II.  How do I connect?  4000 only has 1 Display Port and 1 DVI.  5770 has 2 of each, if I use both 5770 Display Ports, does the 4000 contribute any work at all?  I read where on a PC they would work together, but on a MAC they do not.
I read that Display Port has higher band width than DVI, NEC monitors for best performance they recommend using DIsplay Port.
When I was setting this up I looked at a Nvidia Quadro 4000, unfortunately it was for PC, it had 2 Display Ports, in the Mac version they reduce it to one.  I did not think there could be a difference.
Mainly want to use it for CS6 and LR4.
    How to proceed???
I do not want to use the Quadro 4000 for both, that would not optimize both monitors, one DP and 1 DVI.  Using just the 5770 would work but I do not think the 4000 would be doing anything, and the 5770 has been replaced by the 5870.more bandwidth.
Any ideas, I am a Mac newbie, have not ever tried a Mac Pro, just bought off ebay and now I have these problems.
As a last resort I could sell both and get a 5870.  That would work, I'm sure of that, it's just that I wanted the better graphics card.
    Thanks,
    Bill

I am a novice at Mac so I read all I can.  From what I understand the NEC monitors I bought require Display Port for their maximum performance.  The GTX 680 only has DVI outputs.  Difference from what I understand is larger bandwidth with the DP.
You said I have the 4000 for CUDA.  I am not all that familiar with CUDA and when I do read about it I do not understand it.
A concern I have is, that if I connect the 2 high end NEC monitors via the 5770, using it's 2 Display Ports I would have nothing connected to the 4000.  Is the 4000 doing anything with nothing connected?  I read where in a PC system the 2 cards would interact but in a Mac system they do not.
Bottom line, as I see it, the 4000 will not be useful at all to me, since I want a dual monitor set-up.
So far the 5870 seems the best choice, higher band width than the 5770, and it has 2 Display Ports to optimize the NEC monitors.
I'm not sure how fine I am splitting hairs, nor do I know how important those hairs are.  I am just trying to set up a really fast reliable system that will mainly be used for CS6 and LR4.  Those NEC monitors are supposed to be top notch.

  • Connecting MBP w/Retina and Work Laptop with Switch to dual monitors

I have the latest MBP w/retina display and NVidia GT750M video card.  I also have my work laptop (Dell, Win 7, HDMI out). I want to connect these to a dual monitor setup with a switch.  I currently only have one monitor that is 1920 x 1080 and supports hdmi and dvi.  I would like to buy another cost effective monitor to take advantage of my MBP's higer resolution and have that as my main monitor.
Next I would like to connect the two laptops to the dual monitor setup via switch to go back and forth between systems.
What is the best switch to buy for my needs?  Does OS matter when selecting switches? Monitor recommendations are appreciated also.

I am also seeing lots of posts about Mavericks not working well with switches.  Has this issue been resolved?

  • Can't get dual monitors to come back up when docking. T500 with mini dock & XP

I have a T500 with XP installed. I am using it docked into a mini dock attached to two 20inch Viewsonic monitors. One connected via VGA and the other DVI. I setup the dual monitors just fine. Anytime after I undock and boot up the laptop I can't get the dual monitors to automatically display. I have to go into the display properties and re set it up each time. Can anyone suggest any ideas?

When your T500 power-on , press F1 to log in BIOS, and change the option in >config>Display>Boot-Display-Device to Both or VGA, I suppose that it will reslove your problem.

  • MiniDisplay to HDMI : How to turn off the Dual Monitor output when..

miniDisplay to HDMI : How to turn off the Dual Monitor output when the adapter is attached and the TV is off ? And will keeping the adapter connected even if it is not in use, cause damage to the adapter ?

I have my external monitor/tv setup of the left. If I leave the adapter attached with the TV off, I am still able to cross the border/boundry of my MBP screen ! As instead of detecting a TV, the MBP is detecting the adapter as a screen. I do not want to damage my thunderbolt/miniDisplay port by plugging and unpluggin the unit each and every time.

  • When I had a PC I simply took the wire going to my monitor and connected to my big screen TV to watch Netflix movies...How do I take them from my IMAC and connect them to my TV now?

When I had a PC I simply took the wire going to my monitor and connected to my big screen TV to watch Netflix movies...How do I take them from my IMAC and connect them to my TV now?

    This could be problematic.
It will depend on what model of iMac you have.
You may want to post machine info.
blue apple > about this mac > more info button. Click on the hardware line. It has a little triangle in front of the work hardware.
    Leave out the serial number.
    Example:
    Machine Name: iMac
    Machine Model: PowerMac4,1
    CPU Type: PowerPC 750 (33.11)
    Number Of CPUs: 1
    CPU Speed: 600 MHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
    Memory: 768 MB
    Bus Speed: 100 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 4.1.9f1
Most of the iMac's have sometype of video output port on the back.  You will problably need a converter.
The 'hollywood' industry has been making it more difficult to get video out over time to prevent copying.

  • How do I connect with a webbased VNC client to a dual-monitor Lion machine?

I'm using a webapplication to manage a narrowcasting system.
For this I use an installation of XAMPP on a dedicated Mac Mini hooked up to some monitors.
This software is accessible through a webinterface on the local Mac Mini. With this software people can arrange video's and send them to the monitors connected to the Mac Mini.
This works very well, but know I also want to build a feature where people can see what the Mac Mini's are sending to the monitors. For this I want to use a webbased (now it is Java) vnc viewer build into the webinterface.
I've tried a setup with the TightVNC Java viewer and the build-in OSX VNC server. This gives me the problem that when I try to connect to the Mini I always encounter the Lion login screen. This seems to be new Lion behaviour that can't be disabled. I know that there are some vnc clients that support OSX authentication (like Mocha), but at this point I haven't found a webbased solution for this.
If I use the Wine vnc server I don't have this problem (when I access the Mac Mini I go straight to the active desktop). Unfortunately Wine doesn't support multiple monitors.
I use two monitors on the Mac Mini (one for showing the video playback and one for admin work). I want to setup the vnc client in a way where the user only sees the second screen.
Is there a solution out there that eliminates both of these problems (so connecting without the Lion login screen and only giving a view of the second monitor?).
Any help would be much appreciated.

No one? Seems I want something that can't be done. To bad.
