Mouse lags on Lion

My Magic Mouse now lags terribly to the point it is unusable. I am running Lion on a MacBook Pro and had to have the keyboard replaced. I experienced no problems prior to the replacement. I have cleaned the mouse, repaired permissions, rebooted and restarted the mouse still terrible lag. The trackpad works fine so there must be some issue with the bluetooth connection, but there are no other bluetooth devices near the mouse. There were no other changes to the system other than the keyboard replacement which should not affect the mouse. Suggestions? I really do not want to have to go back to the Genius Bar for the third time this week to get this fixed.

I too had the same problem.  Terrible lag especially when I am playing game to the point of not being able to do anything effectively at all.  Been reading up on the different forums and then found one solution that fixed it immediately.
Flexiglass: I have both Flexiglass and Moom installed on my system to help with resizing my windows.  Once I shut off Flexiglass, it was all good. Maybe this?
Other possiblility is Spotlight re-indexing everything.
Hope this help.

  • Mouse lags after changing Harddrive

After i installed my SSD in my Mac Mini and restored the Operation System (Mountain Lion) from my Time Machine Backup i encounter a very strange mouse lag. When i move the mouse, the cursor jumps almost every 3 seconds.
I've tried already a different mouse and different USB Ports. Same problem.
I rebootet the system and checked Activity Monitor for weird Process behaviour, but everything seems fine.
    Any suggestions?

I fixed the lagging issue now. It seemed to be an issue with the external monitor. After unplugging the HDMI cabel the lagging stopped.

  • Apple Remote Desktop 3.5.3 Mouse Lag

    Hello Everyone,
I work in an environment where we use Apple Remote Desktop to control, observe, and administor about 50 machines.  All of our machines are running Mac OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and ARD 3.5.3 with the exception of one or two which have not been upgraded past 3.4.
Our problems began when we updated remote desktop from version 3.4 to 3.5.3.  Ever since we have been experiencing unbearable mouse lag when controlling another screen.  The problem comes and goes on each machine with no clear reason.  When we switch to screen sharing instead everything is smooth as butter.
I'm posting on here becuase I haven't found information on this issues elsewhere and have run out of ideas as to what the issue could be.  Can anyone help!?  We have plans to move everything up to Mountain Lion but that is a ways out yet so we need this to work in the interim like it always did before.
    Thanks in advance!
    John

So start with the basics.  Use Terminal for any of these commands.  Replace <ip_address> with the address of the server.
1:  Can you ping the server at the address you believe it is at?
    ping <ip_address>
2:  If you are getting a response with ping, then there is a system alive at the other end of the ping.  Now confirm that ARD's port is also active and responding with:
    telnet <ip_address> 5900
If you get a response then at least the port is answering.  Use the Control and ] keys to terminate the connection and then type quit to exit the telnet shell
3:  Now try to ssh'ing back into the machine using the new credentials established during setup assistant.  The command will be something like the following:
    ssh user@<ip_address>
The user will be the short name created during setup assistant and the IP address will be that discovered above.  If you are able to ssh into the machine, you can follow the previous kickstart commands to stop and start the ARD service on the server.
If you are unable to access the server, then you may have accidentally forgotten your access password.  This is possible and as much as I do not want to admit it, I have done it.
Any chance you have a monitor to connect this to?
    Reply back with your progress.

  • Mouse Lag and poor performance. Video Card or Power?

Not specifically a FCP question but related. I recently purchased a new rig. Here are the specs.
    2 X 2.93Ghz 6 Core/16GB RAM/ ATI Radeon 5870 video card.
I am having very odd mouse lag problems that are quite annoying. I am also having issues with playing sequences in unlimited RT. A guy in our office can play back better with an quad core. In regards to the mouse problem I have tried several different mouse and keyboard issues including a Wacom tablet and I get the same poor results.
Some people say it could be my video card and some say it could be a dirty power issue. I took the rig back to the store and the tech geek in the back said it worked fine for him but when I showed up with the keyboard and mouse to test it he had boxed up the computer and gone home.
Here is a clip of the screen and the weird jumpy jittery problem I am having.
    http://pdvpro.com/stupid_mac/
You can see the mouse and the window I am dragging freeze for a second even though I am mousing smoothly and continuously. The mouse and keyboard and Wacom tablet work perfectly on my old Dual Core.
    Any ideas?

According to your video, it's happening in Finder, not just FCP,
so it must be something systemwide.
Is there something running in the background, like Spotlight indexing?
System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy add your disks to be excluded.
Anything else running in the background?
Anything weird connected to your USB?
Also turn off your Airport or any network connection and repeat the test.

  • Win7 Client got mouse lag with roaming profiles

    Hello!
I got several clients, served by a Win2008r2 AD. Those clients supposed to have roaming profiles. Now if I enable them, there is a mouse lag, like the pointer is always in delay, also if you click, you notice that it takes longer than
    normal.
If I logon with a local profile, none of that problem occurs.
    No event logs
No change when use a fresh/new profile either
    No rootkit/virus etc.
    No overheating the hardware etc.
Does someone have an idea where I could look?
How I could diagnose a problem if I have GPO's interfering?
    Thanks
    Roger

    Hi,
are your users potentially running multiple different OS versions?
Do you use custom mouse drivers on some of your hardware?
A possibility I see is mouse configuration information in the userprofile. if that information does not match what is expected, such issues can occur.
If the issue occurs, verify the mouse settings from control panel.

  • Bluetooth mouse lag

So here is the situation: I have a Macbook Pro (early 2009 model) with an Apple wireless keyboard and a Logitech V270 bluetooth mouse. Recently, I've been experiencing mouse lag (to the point where I can hardly even use the mouse anymore). The lag is intermittent, but is there more often than not. I've been pounding my head searching for a solution to this problem, and after scouring forums and trying different solutions, I gave up completely on finding a remedy. But before I threw in the towel, I tried one more thing: I disabled the bluetooth on the Apple keyboard and tested the mouse. To my amazement, it worked perfectly! I re-enabled the keyboard, and sure enough the lag returned. Now that I have isolated the cause of the problem, I was wondering if anyone had a solution that would allow me to continue using both my keyboard and mouse? (I have my MacBook on a stand, so it would be impractical to not have one or the other).
Any help here would be greatly appreciated!

    Update:
Upgraded to 10.6.5 - No difference..
Changed/tried all wifi channels - No change to problem.
Tried a Mac Mouse - slightly less effect but still unusable.
Tried a USB BT dongle type mouse (no using internal BT AP) - Same issue
Tried on a friends Wireless Network - Problem only slightly evident - to be expected as this was a slow network at about 1.9MB/s, a transfer speed that does not show the problem.
Tried using a Netgear wireless intBT mouse router - Problem is only slightly evident on Mac Mighty Mouse, worse on Logitech, evident slightly on ext BT mouse.
With the Wireless nw running a transfer at 3MB/s, this Network speed drops down to a very slow speed when the "Set up Bluetooth Device" utility is initiated.
So given that this issue is also experienced by MacBook owners when using BT mouse while doing a File transfer via USB external HDD, or Time Machine. My conclutions are either:
    1.
The USB ports, BT chipsset and Airport Chipset are all using the same data bus in the Macbook.
This data bus is not capable of running a high speed, contiguous data transfer in a single direction AND transfer BT wireless data at the same time. Apple Architects may be able to work around this issue by appling higher priority to BT data transfer tasks (Mouse), as it does when the "Set up Bluetooth Device" utility is running.
    or
    2. The BT wireless hardare is eisily susseptable to RF interference. This dont explain USB drive influences however.
My best bet is to log a Hardware repair request with Apple, as this is indeed a Hardware issue.

  • Does anyone get the mouse lag with an external display connected via the display port?

does anyone get the mouse lag with an external display connected via the display port?

You don't describe the problem in great detail.  Is this the issue you are describing?
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4398076?start=0&tstart=0
If so, then, "Yes."  I have the same problem.  Note that this isn't a tracking speed problem for me, it's a lag between my hand moving and the pointer moving on the external display.

  • Magic mouse lags bluetooth audio

Magic mouse lags bluetooth audio with cracking and pitch shift.
After Magic mouse disconnected, then bluetooth speakers sounds perfect.
    Please help!!!

I have this same issue, but opposite.  My audio in my bluetooth headphones sounds great, but when they are connected my bluetooth mouse (microsoft 5000) is all over the place.
What's the deal.  I didn't know my $2000 mac would be so inferior to my $800 pc in this regards   (otherwise very happy with switch to mac)

  • Mouse lags

My apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere. I have looked but to no avail.
I am using the 2011 new iMac i5 with 12 GB of RAM and I have tried a wired A4tech Mouse (heavy lag) and a Genius wireless mouse.
I am using Windows 7 via boot camp. I only experience mouse lags during gaming. The mouse works fine for about 5 minutes but then the cursor starts lagging.
The magic mouse works fine though and doesnt lag.
My iMac is connected to the internet by lan.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
In the Memory tab of Activity Monitor, are there a lot of Pageouts?

  • Bluetooth mouse lags often. Maybe conflicts with Wi-Fi, using same band?

My Bluetooth mouse, a Logitech v470 laser mouse, lags often on my MacBook Pro. I'm thinking that maybe it could be conflicting with my Wi-Fi, which is also enabled, and which uses the same band as Bluetooth – 2.4 GHz? Could this be the reason for the lag? My Wi-Fi also drops sometimes, so I don't know if the two are related or not.
Could someone care to shed some light on this? I've read several other threads on these forums and noticed that other people are having similar issues, and would greatly appreciate a response.
    Thanks in advance!

Yes, they can interfere.  Try using a lower channel number on Wifi or switch to the 5Ghz channel if possible.

  • Macbook Pro Wi-Fi causes mouse lag for Logitech MX Revolution

I just got the new 15" Macbook Pro 2.4ghz on Tuesday, October 28th. Yesterday, I tried using my Logitech MX Revolution mouse with it only to discover that it was nearly unusable. The cursor would lag terribly, sometimes sticking in one spot for several seconds and it was often not registering mouse clicks or scrolling. I tried it on my old Powerbook G4 that I had been using it on without issue for over a year. It had the same issue all of a sudden so I tried it on my co-workers 2007 Macbook Pro, he works across the office from me, and the mouse worked perfectly again. Next, I brought my old Powerbook over to his desk to see if there was some interference at my desk, and sure enough, it worked on that Powerbook again. So I then tried disabling the wifi on my new mac and lo and behold, the mouse worked perfectly on that machine.
I've tried switching the channel on our office router (it's a 1TB Time Capsule) a few times and that would help for a few seconds, and then the mouse lag would begin again. I doubt there's a way to change the frequency on the Macbook's wifi card, but if there is let me know. Beyond that, I'm not sure what to do. I will be a little upset if this mouse (which cost me $100) is obsolete because of my Macbook upgrade. There must be a way to get it working again. Ideas? Thanks!

    Hi,
I use a new 2,53ghz Macbook Pro togeter with a MX Revolution mouse. I use 2 Airport Extreme base stations in my w-lan and until now see no issues using the mouse.
Do you have the chance to try and check if the same promlem occuors when using an other MX Revolution / receiver combo , maybe there is an issue there.

  • AfterFX CS6, Timeline Mouse-Lag! (with video description, vimeo)

I created a video of the problem and uploaded it to my vimeo account. Hope it helps to understand:
    http://vimeo.com/43892712
    Windows 7 Pro 64bit
    Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4GHz
    8GB Ram
    Nvidia GTX 580 Phantom
    256 Samsung SSD
Supertalent SSD (Dedicated to Adobe Media Cache and Windows Temp file)
3 HDD(dedicated to Video and Project and exports)
This is a fresh and clean install on the new Samsung SSD (latest firmware), AHCI enabled.
Only system drivers and the whole Production Premium CS6 are installed.
    Problem:
There is a clear Mouse lag while clicking and selecting/marking things in the timeline window. The more layers I have and the more keyframes are shown, the bigger the mouse lag is. It is even bigger than in the video with other comps I have.
This happened to me in CS4 (but I guess that was due to an issue with the wacom tablet driver that supposedly was solved with CS5).
But the driver and Wacom tablet aren't even installed yet, and I experienced this lag with CS4, CS5, CS5.5 and now CS6. Even though it was stated that the GUI is accelerated a lot in this release (via an Nvidia GPU). So I bought a new Nvidia Card (GTX 580), and indeed working is more fun now, but the timeline lag still appears. Before I had an GTX 260.
Turning on or off the preference "Hardware accelerate panels" doesn't do any difference. Also "Use multi CPU rendering" doesn't help the lag.
Is this the old processor Core 2 Quad @ 2.4 and the old SATA2 Bus? I'm willing to invest into a new Ivy Bridge CPU and 32GB of RAM (and a new mainboard), but I already did invest into a new GPU , a new SSD, new CS6 (which is supposed to drew faster on the screen in AFX). And it didn't really help the lag issue. SO I just don't want to get disappointed again.
I also tried a different mouse (PS2 cable), but that didn't help either.
    Anybody having the same issues?
    Any advice or help, please?
    Thanx,
    Martin

    (Sorry to double post)
A couple of other aspects of my AE are a bit off. I have a feeling this may all be interconnected, as they are all GUI related. These other issues are of little consequence, but if it is indeed all connected, it may help troubleshoot the issue.
Firstly is the behavior of scriptUI panels. My AE struggles when drawing ScriptUI panels, sometimes takes 4+ seconds to load the panel, sometimes (rarely) the panel doesnt show at all, throwing an error (I cant remember the exact error). I also get a slight lag when clicking dropdowns and interacting with all ScriptUI panels.
Furthermore, after my inital install, the CTI updates very slowly while RAM Previewing (it's fine while scrubbing). I solved this issue with a bit of help from this thread. It turns out in my AE prefs I had "Time needle update frequency (seconds)" = "0.250000", changing the value to 0.05000 fixed the issue. In that thread it was suggested that perhaps AE automatically set this value on first launch- based off its understanding of the system capability (to save on resources)... If this is correct, AE obviously failed to make a correct evaluation of the system's capability... I wonder what else it "got wrong"?
I just had a look through the prefs file (C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\After Effects\11.0\Adobe After Effects 11.0-x64 Prefs.txt)
There's a bunch of stuff in there, but not knowing "what-does-what" I dont want to mess around in there just yet.
Has anyone else suffering from our timeline issues experienced anything like the above?
    Update:
Okay, finally some feedback from After Effects.
Today when launching after effects it has crashed with the following error
This article from Adobe explains the use of GPU in AECS6
OpenGL, the GPU, and After Effects CS6
You'll notice toward the bottom of the article, Level 2 hardware requirment covers hardware acceleration of of composition, layer and footage panels.
Im thinking this really is a problem with AE + GPU. This might explain why swithcing hardware accelerated panels doesnt make any difference to our problem... perhaps its just not working at all. any thoughts?

  • Flash Player performance slowness and mouse lag

I've been having this problem for a while.  I already did the usual google searching and didn't find anything useful.  Specifically its games I play on kongregate and other sites.  When they are using flash player I tend to get poor performance.  If it uses a mouse cursor the mouse lags/skips across the flash player window, when it leaves the flash player area the lag doesn't occur. I dont have problems when I'm in games or general responsiveness of the system, I've plenty of space, low processor utilization, low memory utilization, etc etc.
I have windows 8.1, IE11, the latest flash player, video and system drivers are all the latest and greatest.  I've found articles suggesting to turn on/off hardware/software gpu acceleration in IE, it also occurs in Firefox.
    ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try this. Which browser (and version) are you using? My question was as much about the performance of Flash player in a 64 bit environment as it was about the video playback hardware performance. I'm sceptical of the shared video memory and throughput performance of the Intel-based 4500HD graphics package in my laptop. I'm worried that it might not be sufficient for full-screen flash video playback, or for large external displays, so I'm trying to explain the poor platback performance that I'm seeing, and hopefully show that it's not the fault of the video HW.
Which video HW do you have in your dell?
    Thanks
