Mouse or keyboard will bring computer out of sleep

I just installed a new hard drive, fire wire PCI card, and a USB 2.0 PCI card, and a new graphics card.
Now when I put the machine to sleep, it goes to sleep ok, but the mouse and keyboard will not wake the computer, I have to push the power button to wake the computer. any ideas what is causing this???
I don't have any storage devices connected to PCI cards.
Thanks in advance,
Phil

Hi Allen and thanks again for your help.
The vendor ID for the PCI card is oX1033.
Here is the latest crash log, all of the previous logs said exactly the same thing.

  • Touchsmart 520-1047c Mouse and Keyboard will not work after sleep mode

I have an issue which I need some help with. When my computer goes to sleep the wireless mouse and keyboard will not work unless I restart, however each one will wake the system up but will not operate after that. I have tried just making the display go to sleep, both go to sleep but that makes no difference same issue occurs. The only work around I have found is going into the power settings and turning the sleep mode off for booth the computer and display. This does not solve the problem it just masks it. New batteries, unplugged and replugged the dongle, updated the bios and all drivers. Don't know what else to try. Anybody know how to fix this? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello , Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? • HP LaserJet P3005x will not come out of sleep mode

Printer will not come out of sleep mode (after being in sleep mode for an extended period of time (over 24 hrs)).  When this happens, I can not ping the printer and pressing any of the buttons on the printer will not bring it out of sleep mode.  I'm testing now to see if I can recreate this with the printer attached to my PC via USB.

    Hi arosecarter,
I understand your monitor is not coming out of sleep mode. Take a look at the following support document, Resolving Problems with Sleep and Hibernate Modes (Windows 7). Step 3 might be of particular interest to you, as you mentioned your keyboard and mouse are not really working for you either. Perhaps it is another connected device that is causing the issue? Anyway, hopefully this document will be of help to you. Best of luck. Have a wonderful day.

  • Can not install windows 7 pro using boot camp as mouse and keyboard will not work Help please

I have a new iMac and trying to install Windows 7 Pro using boot camp. I have reached the stage of starting to load windows from the DVD then discovered the mouse and the keyboards not working so I could not interact with windows installation.

Open, if not so already, the Windows formatter. Identify the BC Windows partition. It will be the one listed with the proper size you created and/or will be labeled as a C: drive. Be careful you select the right one or you may be corrupting the entire drive.
    Format the partition as NTFS.

  • Printer now will not come out of sleep mode with new MiFi 5510L

I have a HP 3522 All In One wireless printer networked via my MiFI router that goes into sleep mode as it is supposed to after a set period of idle time but the only way I can get it back on line/wake up is to unplug it and plug it back in.  While asleep, none of the buttons work and all print jobs fail because the 'printer cannot be found'.  I never had this problem until I upgraded from an older MiFi unit to the 5510L.
I am using a MacBook Pro and MacBook Air both running OS X Mavericks 10.9.1
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Dave

KSutherland, I'm so sorry this is occurring with your phone. I understand how frustrating this can be when you're trying to use your phone and have to pull the battery. I researched information about your phone that have been reported by customers and didn't find this as a known issue. I also show the Bionic received a software update on December 9, 2011. I recommend updating your phone to the new software, which can assist with. I listed a link below with information and instructions for the update.
    http://support.verizonwireless.com/system_update/droid_bionic.html
Additionally, I would also like to recommend clearing the cache and browser history. This can help the device from having slow functionalities. The steps are below:
From a Home screen, select the App menu (located in the lower right).
    Select Browser.
If the application icon is missing, select App menu filter (located at the top) then select All apps.
    Select Menu.
    Select More.
    Select Settings.
Within settings you can clear the following :
--Clear all, which clears all deletes history, cache, cookies, form data and passwords
--Clear cache, which clears visited website content stored on the device. The cache enables the browser to download only the content that has changed since the last time a website was visited. Since the browser only downloads changed content, pages are loaded faster.
--Clear history, which clears a listing of URLs (website addresses) that have been recently visited.
--Clear cookie data, which clears some cookies contain customized preference and logon information for previously visited websites. Once deleted, the website may prompt for this information again.
Pleas let us know if the above steps work for you.
    Have a good day.

  • How to stop mouse bringing pc out of standby (K8N-neo 2) CORRECTION ADDED

I have a problem with a pc running XP-pro on an MSI-k8n-neo motherboard, when i put the pc into standby (S3 str) if you move the mouse while its in this state the pc comes out of standby. This is something i dont want it to do, the mouse by the way is a wireless Tevion laser mouse connected via ps2. I have run the bios set-up and disabled the mouse from bringing the pc out of standby. I have also gone to (from control panel) Mouse / hardware / properties / power management and unchecked " Allow this device to bring computer out of standby ", but the mouse still brings pc out of standby. Anyone know how to stop this happening.
Some more info, the pc connects to the internet via a wireless link which i believe operates at the same frequency as cordless mice. There could be some interference being generated between the two,but i dont see how the mouse can start the pc if i have disabled it from doing so. As i have said the mouse has a ps2 connection which connects to its docking station, the docking station does not have its own dedicated power supply and draws power from the ps2 connection for running and recharging the mouse, even when the pc has been shut down.

I tried moving the mouse base station further away from the wireless antenna but it made no dfference, In saying that though the cable on the mouse base station is very short. Another way of putting the pc in sleep mode was suggested to me and that was to use hibernate instead of standby. I tried it and it works fine. So im gonna stick with it, i would liked to have gotten to the bottom of the mouse problem though. If i do i will post back here.

  • Apple Blue Tooth Mouse & Keyboard will not Wake Mac Pro while in Vista

I am running Vista Ultimate via Boot Camp OSX Leopard. I have a MAC Pro with apple blue tooth mouse and keyboard.
When the computer sleeps while in Vista, neither the mouse or keyboard will wake the computer. The only way to wake the computer while in Vista is to press the power button the MAC Pro.
After I wake the computer via the power button, the keyboard is unresponsive for about 2 minutes. Turning the power on and off on the keyboard does not speed up the process. The same thing happens intermittently when rebooting into Vista.
AppleCare says it's a Vista problem. Microsoft tech support says it's an Apple driver problem. Nice.
The keyboard and mouse do wake the computer when in Leopard.

Were you ever able to find a resolution to this issue? I am seeing the same perplexing grayed out box in device manager. In my case I'm using a MS Bluetooth keyboard and mouse and my machine is a Mini.
For anyone else who might happen upon this post, the exact click sequence is:
Device Manager -> Bluetooth Radios -> Apple Built-in Bluetooth -> Power Management

  • G70-250US notebook synaptics mouse pad will not work & keyboard will only work until I log onto pc

I have a G70-250US model notebook with Vista 32. I decided to reload OS due to issues with mouse pad and keyboard. I still have the same problem whereby the mouse pad will not work and keyboard will only work until I log in and then it will not work.  External mouse and keyboard will work fine.  I tried uninistalling drivers for both and rebooting and letting OS find new hardware and install the drivers and this still did not correct.  I even pulled down the synaptics driver from HP site and still not working.  I checked the BIOS and it is the most recent. I am at a loss. Any ideas on these issues.

I have an old Dell Dimension 2400 I plan to use as a replacement for the Sony Vaio when it pops. I've held out as long as possible because it lacks a pci or usb wifi and I really didn't want to run 50 feet of cat5 up a flight of stairs to it. [as i type this i think i remember where a linksys stick for it might be]. Yes I guess it's about time I just do that.
Don't laugh but the reason I held off adding a simple usb keyboard was just lack of space in my tiny bedroom. My setup is on two tray tables side-by-side. Sony Vaio is on left one, my lcd monitor and mouse are on the other. I barely have room to put a cup of coffee on the one with monitor and mouse let alone a full size usb keyboard lol.
Anyway thank you again for all your help.

  • Just installed XP and Drivers, Now no mouse or keyboard

Alright, so I just installed Windows XP through Boot Camp and had everything running on my new iMac. As labeled in the instructions, I popped in the driver install CD after I had XP installed (at this point, the bluetooth keyboard and mouse were both working). The wizard came up and the drivers installed themselves. Everything looked all fine until the setup "ended" with an error message that I didn't get to read, because less than a second later, the computer restarted itself.
When XP came back up, I could tell that the video and sound drivers were installed because I heard the startup sound and the resolution was adjusted. BUT, the mouse and keyboard stopped working totally! I tried plugging in another wired USB mouse and keyboard, but the computer didn't detect them either.
What should I try? Just reinstall the whole thing?
    Thanks in advance!

    No problem!
    - Right after I installed Windows XP (a clean install with no other data, of course), I popped in the driver install CD.
    - When the installer comes up, close it - we won't be needing that.
    - Open My Computer from the Start Menu and find the disc corresponding to the optical drive (Titled "Boot Camp"). Right click on it and select "Open", not "AutoRun". The disc's contents should appear.
    - From there, open the folder named "Boot Camp", and then open up "Drivers". In the "Drivers" folder, you'll find a whole bunch of folders that contain all of the drivers for all of the hardware on your Mac.
    - You're going to need to manually install all of the drivers EXCEPT the ones pertaining to 'USB' or 'Bluetooth'. Open each folder (better to do them in order), and find the drivers you need to install. It may look overwhelming trying to figure out which ones you need, but it's more simple than you might think. Essentially, each folder contains all of the drivers you need, but there are several versions of them for the different versions of Windows (XP, Vista 32, Vista 64, Win 64, Win 32, etc etc etc...) Figure out which version you have (most likely 32-Bit Windows XP) and install every driver that says anything among the lines of 'Win32' or 'XP' or 'XP32' (you get the idea) (again, avoiding the ones that have to do with Bluetooth or USB).
TIP: The driver installer windows seem to pop up behind the window that you're currently using. Select them from the taskbar.
TIP 2: Some drivers may summon a "Install New Hardware Wizard" window. Just don't touch those. Don't. Touch. They will go away on their own when the device is installed. I promise.
ANOTHER TIP: When you get to the graphics cards installer folders (Either ATI or nVidia), you only need to install the ones for the graphics card that's in your computer!
YET ANOTHER TIP: Don't forget the lingering "MotorolaSetup.exe" installer in the drivers folder!
Hope this helps! If you need any clarification, please ask!
PS: All of the above is why OS X is awesome. Just sayin'.

  • Frozen Mouse and Keyboard

Ok, I have a problem. If I force sleep my PowerBook to sleep,(Closing the lid), when I wake the Book up the mouse and Keyboard will not work. If I manually put it to Sleep I do not have this problem. I then have to force shut it down, start up in safe boot, then restart to get back to my desktop. Has anybody else had this problem?
Aside from this and the Audio Stutter problem, I love this thing.
    Seth A.<</div>

Maybe it is a USB mouse+keyboard that you use and this does sometimes occur especially if you have the hard drive go into standby then it will react almost as slow as restarting.
Try to wake it up by pressing the command/apple key 1 to 3 times instead of moving the mouse etc. ?????
Easiest is to press the power button and select sleep or F11 I think to clear the screen so only the background shows if someone comes in.
Also you can set the screensaver to start after say 1 min and then need a password to get back into your user.

  • Working with the MS Word iPad and other office apps: Onscreen keyboard will not minimize

With Microsoft's announcement today of allowing limited editing capabilities in their mobile apps, I installed the updates on my iPad.  So far, everything works great...with one exception:  The onboard keyboard will not get out of the way...won't
    minimize.
I have last year's iPad Air and was trying to use my Bluetooth keyboard with each of the MS Office IOS apps.  Consistently, across all of these apps, the keyboard would stay on the screen and the key for minimizing the keyboard had no affect, even though
my Bluetooth keyboard was linked and working.  Any other app I use automatically removes the onscreen keyboard when the Bluetooth keyboard is detected.
This does make the applications difficult and not much fun to use.
Any thoughts?  Anybody else notice the same issue?
My office has begun deploying Office 2013/365 and I know we'll have some users on iPads and other tablets, so I'm real interested in correcting this if at all possible.

  • Downloaded version 20 and cannot use mouse or keyboard

After downloading the latest versi0on of firefox on my desktop, my mouse and keyboard will not work

    Hello,
are you able to disable graphics hardware acceleration
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
[[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
[[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

  • Monitor does not come out of sleep Mac-Mini Mini-DVI to Dual  DVI-D cable

I have an August 2009 Mac-Mini that I'm using with an Apple supplied Mini-DVI to DVI adapter along with a DVI-D Dual Link Cable connect to a Sceptre X7XV-Naga+ LCD monitor.
The monitor is going into sleep mode on its own with no way to disable this feature on the monitor itself. I've disabled sleep mode on the Mac-Mini in the power setting in System Preferences.
When in sleep mode and I move the mouse or press a key, the monitor will not come out of sleep mode. From other posts, I read that the issue might be that I wasn't using a Dual-Link DVI-D cable, so I bought one and installed such a cable. That has not resolved the problem. The monitor will not come out of sleep mode. When I have the monitor connected with a mini-display port to VGA adapter instead of a DVI-D cable, it will come out of sleep mode every time.

I know it's a year later, but I'm not finding much through search.
I have the same exact problem.  Difference being I'm using an iMac with 10.7.5.
Same video board and monitor - ATI Radeon HD 6750M video card connected via DisplayPort to Samsing S24A850DW.
I've tried two different mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cables and no change.
I think I read that 10.8.3 might fix the issue.  Anyone that can confirm that, or has another solution?

  • Mac makes "waking out of sleep" noise without screen turning on.

I always put my Mac to sleep. For a while now, I would notice the Mac would make the noise randomly (middle of the night lets say) as if it were coming out of sleep mode yet the screen wouldn't turn on. Only when I physically bring it out of sleep mode the monitor obviously turns on. Any reason for this? Thanks!

It seems I've seen a few posts about the Logitech drivers causing KPs recently. Try doing a search on "Logitech" for recent posts. I would do this for you, but the forums are running slow right now.

  • Hi fan speed when coming out of sleep

    Hello Everyone,
I've had my iMAC Core Duo for a week now and I've noticed that when I power up the iMAC from shutdown the fans are almost completely silent. After I put the iMAC to sleep for a while 1 hour or so and wake it up the fans kick into high speed and don't slow down at all (lots of noise). I've tried reseting the SMU (unplug the mac, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in while holding down the power button.), no luck. I also tried reseting the NVRAM and deleting the powermanagement.plist. No luck. Anyone else having the same issue? If so have you found a fix or work around?
    Thanks,
    Rem

Looks like I've been able to narrow this down. I have a second monitor attached to the iMAC in extended desktop mode. If I remove the mini DVI connector to the second monitor and put the iMAC to sleep and wake it up a while later the fans start up go fast and within a few seconds slow right down to an level barely audible. Put the Mini DVI back in put it to sleep bring it out of sleep and the fans kick in full and stay on. Anyone else having this issue?
