Mouse Pad on laptop not workign properly

About a week ago i noticed my mouse pad clicker on my macbook not working. Only one side seems to be registering when i click on something on the computer.
Any ideas as to what to do to fix it. I know i can use a regular mouse, but I woudl still liek to find out what is wrong with my macbook.
Thanks.

My mother just purchased a MacBook 2 months ago, and when I went to visit her last week I noticed that the trackpad button was doing this exact same thing! She had always said it was hard to click, but I had chalked that up to a 70 year old woman trying to figure out how to use a trackpad. Turns out, this had been going on since the beginning.
I'm on hold waiting for AppleCare right now... she doesn't live near an Apple Store, so I'll be interested in hearing what needs to happen next. In 2 months she's already become attached to this thing, so sending it in for repair/diagnose will be difficult for her. I hope it doesn't come to that...
I'll post any results.
Have you figured anything out in the past few days?

    Hi,
My laptops mouse pad wheel does not work in the bookmarks menu. It works fine in any other application or on the main view in firefox. I'm not very organized and have hundreds of bookmarks, it's frustrating to have to wait for the up/down buttons in the bookmarks menu to scroll.

Maybe FCP 3 doesn't provide support for mouse wheel scrolling? I can't remember and I'm not going to install FCP 3 to test that theory.
You should be able to at least set the MS mouse driver to perform scroll wheel functions in FCP through the MS mouse preference pane (zoom in/out for example) but I don't know if that includes scrolling.

  • Mouse pad for v046TX

    Dear Sir/Mdm,
I sincerely want to feedback to you that the new HP laptop v046TX mouse pad design is not good, it is very awkward to have the hole being seen, the whole mouse pad can move when I press the button. This is the 3rd HP Laptop I have, the first 2 got no such issue. I am upset you have this design, my HP v046TX had this spoil mouse pad on the first day, and I have sent in for replacement. I strongly suggest you to review the design.
    Best regards,

  • How do i re-enable the mouse pad on my Probook ? the little LED light is on and I want it off

I just received my ProBook and I prefer to use the mouse pad... not the button ... but somehow I have engaged the mechanism that turns the pad off and the button on ( the little LED light is on in the upper left corner of the pad)
HOW DO I TURN IT OFF??

    Hi:
There should be user guides on your notebook's support page that will tell you how to do that.
Enter your model number in the Search Products box, and select manuals from the menu.

  • Mouse pad not working properly having downloaded Windows 8

Hi, having downloaded Windows 8 to my laptop (HP Spectre xt 13-2000ea) the mouse pad has stopped working properly. The "two finger" page down/up and left/right has stopped working.
I have looked at the mouse settings and it currenlty states the synaptics hardware is installed and working correctly.
Have even gone onto the Synaptics website but have been unable to download something that can correct it. The HP hardware updates page on their support website does not appear to have anything that deals with Windows 8 problems.
    Any help much appreciated. Thanks

Had exactly the same issue with my HP laptop. The Windows 8 driver installed with the OS works OK but the Synaptics driver in the latest Windows Update will not scroll. I had to uninstall the existing (newest) driver and install the HP Windows 7 driver from this site (an older version) then in Windows Update you have to wait for the Synaptics driver update to be offered (obviously you have to do a manual update and not allow it to install automatically) and then right click on it and select hide update.

  • Help! My Mouse pad is not working properly. The arrow cannot be controlled, it just keeps jumping all over the page. How can I stop this?

Help! My Mouse pad is not working properly. The arrow cannot be controlled, it just keeps jumping all over the page. How can I stop this?

There are several possible causes for this issue. Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried until it's resolved. Some may not apply in your case.
    1. Follow the instructions in this support article, and also this one, if applicable. A damaged or defective AC adapter could be the cause, even if it's the right kind.
    2. Press down all four corners of the trackpad at once and release. If there's any effect, it's likely to be temporary, and in that case the unit must be serviced or replaced.
    3. Open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and delete all pointing devices other than the trackpad, if applicable. Disconnect any USB pointing devices. By a "pointing device," I mean a peripheral that moves the cursor, such as a trackpad, mouse, trackball, or graphics tablet. A plain keyboard is not a pointing device.
    4. Start up in safe mode and test, preferably without launching any third-party applications. If you don't have the problem in safe mode, but it comes back when you restart as usual, stop here and post your results. Do the same if you can't start in safe mode. If there was no difference in safe mode, go on to the next step.
    5. Reset the System Management Controller.
    6. If you're using a Bluetooth trackpad, investigate potential sources of interference, including USB 3 devices.
    7. A swollen battery in a portable computer can impinge on the trackpad from below and cause erratic behavior. If you have trouble clicking the trackpad, this is likely the reason. The battery must be replaced without delay.
    8. There's a report that a (possibly defective) Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter can cause the built-in trackpad of a MacBook to  behave erratically. If you're using such an adapter, disconnect it and test.
    9. There's also a report of erratic cursor movements caused by an external display that was connected but not turned on.
    10. If none of the above applies, or if you have another reason to think that your computer is being remotely controlled, remove it from the network by turning off Wi-Fi (or your Wi-Fi access point), disconnecting from a Bluetooth network link, and unplugging the Ethernet cable or USB modem, whichever is applicable. If the cursor movements stop at once, you should suspect an intrusion.
    11. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine and/or external trackpad tested.

  • Mouse Pad is not working properly while plugged in of Probook 4530s Notebook????

    1. Product Name and Number
HP Probook 4530s (Intel Core i5). RAM 6 GB, Hard 750 Gb, Radeon 1 GB card,
Mouse PAD configs ............Synaptics luxpad v7.5,,,,,,,,and........Synaptics luxpad buttons v7.5
     Operating System installed:
    Windows 7 64 bit Proffessional.
Everytime I plug in the charger, the mouspad starts hanging................What is that........???? Sometimes it stops working at all..............One thing to note is that right and left click buttons are working fine.........
    Any suggestions......???

By hanging do you mean it just gets very slow to respond? This only happens when you plug in the charger? I would make sure all your drivers are up to date. Do this happen when the computer is running off battery?
    Thanks

  • I updated to firefox 4 on my laptop (a touchscreen capable HP tx2z) and now I can't use the scroll on my mouse pad, I have to use my touch screen to scroll.

My computer is running windows 7, it's an HP tx2z touch screen laptop. My mouse pad scroll doesn't work on firefox 4. Also some features seem to missing such as the condensed menu bar and tab sorting that was spoken about in the introduction to firefox 4 video.

Apparently it's related to the Firefox plug in.
This isn't exactly a solution but more of a way to avoid opening PDFs with Firefox's plug in.
    1. Highlight "Tools" from the Menu Bar in the top left of the screen (or click "Options" if using the Firefox Compact Menu)
    2. Select to "Options
    3. Select "Applications"
    4. Look for "Adobe Acrobat Document" under Content Type and to the right under Action select "Use Adobe Reader (default)" instead of the using Adobe Acrobat in Firefox
    5. Open a test PDF. It should open in it's own window now.
Again, not a complete solution but something that'll at least let you scroll with PDFs open.
