Mouse pausing every few minutes when switched over from a KVM?

I have just replace my old IOGEAR 2 port KVM that developed issues with a newer version of the same thing and the mouse and Wacom tablet are pausing very 45sec. - 90sec? when switched over to the MINI but run fine on the G5 plugged into the other port.
Nothing has changed except for the replacement 2 port KVM.
Anyone have any ideas???

If you crisscross the outputs from the KVM does the problem then move to the G5 and the mini work OK? That would suggest an issue with the KVM.

  • Podcast playback freezes/pauses every few minutes

When I watch video podcasts on my computer, every few minutes, playback freezes for about 5 seconds before continuing. During the 'freeze', time is still moving, so I also miss some of the video content.
I can watch the same videos perfectly fine if I play the files directly in another video player.
I just installed the latest itunes version.
    Thanks.

Thanks for that suggestion Sasha, though this is the first time I have ever had that type of jerky playback, so I am hoping it won't occur again for a very long time.
I actually deleted the QT video thinking it was defective until I went back and watched the video in the Canvas plus several other old QT videos which all behaved the same way!
The avatar is to reflect that I am now using Shake . . . . . well, at least floundering on the first chapter of the APTS book . . . . so it may well be changed again in the near future!

  • Player quits every few minutes when trying to buffer

I have followed all suggestions this is a site specific issue - every 3-4 minutes the player quits whether streaming or watching an archived video - I haven't had issues before with this site - have watched it for years but recently last few weeks having issues - techs on their end are stumped - have latest flash player and watch other live streams on other sites no problems - clear cache every time it stops /remove cookies/ tried firefox and chrome and IE all same issues - removed QoS scheduler - have no clue - please help! The site uses JW player 5.9.2156 version - they aren't getting other complaints so its strange....I tried hardwire and usually I am wireless but neither changes the situation - again I watch 24/7 webstream on another site and go hours on wireless with no issues....however on that 24/7 webstreaming site during their conference webstream where there is heavy traffic it may buffer a bit but it always reconnects never stops indefinietly

    why not firefox 4.0

  • Am I the only one that has safari restart every few minutes when using private browsing?

I have no idea why, but when I use private browsing on safari, it seems to have a mind of it's own once and a while. Randomly, it decides to quit without the "quit unexpectidly" part normally found in this issue, and when I go back onto safari, all of the tabs I had open are no longer there.

Nope, that's all I use is Private browsing on it and it's never behaved this way.

  • Disconnect/Reconnect every few minutes

I just had Fios installed 4 days ago.  I've got a M1424WR wireless router.  Firmware up-to-date, 2 computers one wired one wireless. and every few minutes I'm disconnected from the system and reconnected.  Almost every web site has to be reloaded 2-3 times until there is a response.  The Verizon Tech phone support didn't see anything wrong with the service or router.  As a matter of fact, 6 lights are lit on the router and when this happens they generally don't go yellow or go out.  It just looks like the connection to the router is fine.  I've rebooted the router, even rebooted the back up power.  I have a feeling that there is just a setting somewhere that needs to be changed.... anyone have any ideas?  For reference, it's a lenovo laptop, IBM build.  I'm desperate to get this resolved as it's impacting my work.

Well, you have two computers. one wired and one wireless.
Do both of them drop connections or just one of them? If both, do they drop at the same time?
If it is just one of them, then I'd look at the connection itself or the computer. If it is both, then I'd look at the router or verizon network.
Assuming it is both. You've already rebooted the router, did you try resetting the router also? Also try reseating the wan cable to the router as well. If your still having an issue at this point. I would call tech support back and ask them if they can pull up the history log on the ONT. This will hopefully tell them if the drops are happening on the inside or outside of the house.
Do you have any other fios services? Telephone or TV? Do they have any issues?

  • Iwlwifi disconnecting every few minutes

    Hi!
I've got an intel wifi card (Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6230 (rev 34)), using iwlwifi. Every few minutes I get disconnected from the AP and when trying to reconnect it fails most of the times. Reloading iwlwifi or the networkmanager doesn't help. Is this a bug or may be something wrong with my configuration?
    Thanks!
Edit: I am using a Toshiba portege laptop

    Hi all,
I've installed Arch Linux recently on my laptop and I've been experiencing the same problem myself. I tried jumping from Gentoo forums to Arch Linux forums to you-name-it forums to find an answer to this problem but nothing worked for me.
In these forums, you will find many posts with commands that say that fix that problem (this post will be eventually one of them) but somehow fail to do so in your laptop. I don't know if there is an one-answer-fits-all, but through these searches -and some experimentation of my own- I've found a rather aggressive approach to make my wireless connections more robust. I disabled IPv6 and most of the card's hardware-intensive options.
Still, since this way probably will not work or appeal to most of you, I'd also like to provide a more coherent approach to this problem, so that you will know where to go to after reading this post (than endlessly Google searching).
    Step 0: Know your enemy
The problem I was dealing with was similar to the original poster's and happened consistently. When my signal's strength wasn't good and the network card had lots of traffic (downloading a file while watching YouTube while ...), the download speed would abruptly come to a halt. Removing and re-inserting the iwlwifi module would fix it temporarily, but later on it would relapse. Also, there was no apparent error to troubleshoot, since iwlwifi would print on dmesg only the re-connections and not any error.
The above was experienced with kernels 3.2, 3.5, 3.6, 3.7. I can't say for sure that all versions of these kernels are problematic, so you are free to check it out your self. An easy way to check if patches were issued about iwlwifi in a specific kernel version can be found from here. Just compare the dates of the file changes between different kernel versions.
Also, you might want to know that the wifi was working seamlessly with the 3.3.8 version of the kernel. Thus, if you want to check out a different linux kernel, I'd suggest you start with this one. Obviously, this is for people using Debian or other distros that rely on older kernels. So, our first question would be...
Step 1: What is your kernel?
You can find a description of your system with this command:
    uname -mor
    My output is:
    3.7.1-2-ARCH x86_64 GNU/Linux
Step 2: What is your hardware?
It is very important to know what your hardware is. If you have the same hardware as I do, then you probably have more chances to fix it. If you post a question in another forum and then mark your question as solved, people would like to know what your hardware was. If you send a bug report to the iwlwifi team, they will need your card's model.
    So, write:
    lspci | grep -i net
    My output is:
01:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 130 (rev 34)
02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 06)
Step 3: What is your problem?
You can see more debug info about your problem by writing:
    dmseg
or to filter through these messages:
    dmesg | grep iwlwifi
If you see any errors, tracebacks etc. then these are bugs and you'd best search for similar bugs here. If there are no similar bugs, I'd suggest you create a new bug report. The people that answer in this list are core developers of the iwlwifi module and you'd best send them these bug reports in order to help them track down these problems.
    Step 4: Solution (?)
    GRUB
The are many ways to disable IPv6. I did it using GRUB:
    sudo cp /boot/grub/grub.cfg /boot/grub/grub.bak #For backup reasons
    sudo nano /etc/default/grub
Add this option "ipv6.disable=1" to the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=, so that your GRUB looks like this:
    GRUB_DEFAULT=0
    GRUB_TIMEOUT=5
    GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR="Arch"
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="ipv6.disable=1"
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""
    Finally, do:
    sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
    sudo reboot
to update your grub and restart your laptop. If anything goes wrong, you can restore your grub.cfg file using the backup grub.bak we created above.
    IWLWIFI OPTIONS
Provided IPv6 is disabled, you can check in real time which of the following options make a difference, without restarting your laptop:
    sudo modprobe -r iwldvm iwlwifi
    sudo modprobe iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 bt_coex_active=0 power_save=0 auto_agg=0 swcrypto=1
You can learn more about these options by writing:
    modinfo iwlwifi
Hopefully, you will experience no disconnections from now on.
Now, in order to automatically pass these options at startup to iwlwifi, you can create a *.conf file inside /etc/modprobe.d directory.
    nano /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf
    And add this line:
    options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 bt_coex_active=0 power_save=0 auto_agg=0 swcrypto=1
    Step 5: This %@#%@ @#%#% doesn't #%@#% work
Well, bummer. I'd highly recommend to inform the developers of iwlwifi about your problem, as I've mentioned above. If the dev list intimidates you, post about this problem here.
    Good luck...
    Edit
It's likely that you may encounter the following strange behavior when trying to connect to your access point.
    Copied form my dmesg:
    [  904.190052] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: L1 Enabled; Disabling L0S
    [  904.197452] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: Radio type=0x2-0x2-0x1
    [  904.886420] wlan0: authenticate with 00:26:44:b3:16:a4
    [  904.928370] wlan0: send auth to 00:26:44:b3:16:a4 (try 1/3)
    [  904.930494] wlan0: authenticated
    [  904.932220] wlan0: associate with 00:26:44:b3:16:a4 (try 1/3)
    [  904.939798] wlan0: RX AssocResp from 00:26:44:b3:16:a4 (capab=0x411 status=0 aid=2)
    [  904.942701] wlan0: associated
    [  915.641048] wlan0: deauthenticating from 00:26:44:b3:16:a4 by local choice (reason=3)
If the above is coupled with the netcfg's response:
    > DHCP IP lease attempt failed.
                                                                              [FAILED]
then you have just encountered a strange dhcpcd bug, which has nothing to do with iwlwifi.
You can find possible solutions here.

  • Illustrator CS4 crashes every few minutes.

I have huge problems because the program crashes every few minutes, when doing all sort of things but mainly when moving objects and clipping masks.
It even damages some files, once it crashes I tried to open the file and the program cannot do it.
Please help, my boss is killing me and gave me a warning already for low performance... Auch!
I know it is not the computer cause I di have a nice dual processor dual core computer with 4 Gb or RAM and multiple hard drives with at least 350 Gb free on each.
I have heard a way to stop all services through the registry but not sure if that will do the trick and how to actually do it but I'm desesperated at this point I can try anything.
    Any Idea?
    Thanks
    Daniel

Daniel, presuming you have tried the closedown suggested in post #2:
Is the folder also empty if you look with Illy open or after closing it instead of crashing it?
If it is, it may be worth to make a search for the Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings folder and see whether a live/corrupted one may be tucked away somewhere else.
In a serious case like this, you may consider moving/deleting the whole folder. Full instructions are shown in the hint Move the folder.
If nothing helps, you may consider to:
    Reinstall Acrobat;
    Search and destroy adobefnt**.list files;
Move all non system fonts out of the Font folder (or whatever it is called on a Mac); if that solves the issue, move them back in bundles until you find the corrupt one(s).
If nothing else helps, you may consider reinstalling, and this technote may be relevant if a normal reinstall does not help: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs4clean.html

  • Firefox 3.6.6 crashes every few minutes or freezes up even when i'm not doing anything

For the last few days, firefox has been crashing or freezing up every few minutes. It seems to be independent of what websites i'm on. Firefox either just freezes up ("this program is not responding") or will crash entirely and i'll get the firefox crash console. I've tried disabling all my addons and that didn't help either. My explorer seems much more stable.

  • Yesterday while downloading an app on my 3GS, my iPhone froze, and I switched it off to reboot. Following that, every few minutes, the screen will flicker and the phone will restart. What's wrong? And how should I fix it?

I recieved my iPhone 3GS around Christmas. It has been working great, until yesterday. I was downloading an app and suddenly my messaging froze. I couldn't view incoming messages, and every chat I clicked on displayed the same frozen dialogue with only the contact names different. (The app was supposedly reliable, I read over the reviews.) I rebooted my phone in hopes of fixing this, and everything seemed fine for a couple of minutes. Then the screen slightly flickered, and my phone restarted itself. Now, after turning on again, it continues to flicker and crash every few minutes, whether I'm using it or not. Can anyone tell me what could be wrong and how I can fix it?

    Restore the Firmware with iTunes.
If still problem and you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage take to Apple for resolution.
If no coverage, the next step would be battery replacement.

    hey guys,
im a devoted user of mozilla but lately whenever i open my facebook (or other sites with lots of adds) it freezes for like a minute, every few minutes.
I didn't have this problem when I used explorer nor when doing it on other computers.
so i bet the problem is with my computer but I can't figure out what.. :(
please help me! I hate all other browsers!
    p.s. u guys rock :)

Are you playing Frontierville or Cityville or somesuch? Zynga games are HUGE resource hogs and if you try to pair them with Pandora or YouTube, things can go down really fast. You can also mitigate a little with an adblocker like [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865/ adblock plus].
From reports of this that I've been hearing about, Flash 10.2 (which was a recent update) has been particularly bad with Zynga games. You can try changing your display settings in Flash (right click and select settings and then the first tab) but I would just suggest using just one game at a time. Adobe may be releasing a version of Flash that's better soon, so this may clear up if you update Flash, also.

  • Why do I get a stall every few minutes with a "Pages unresponsive" error frame when using iCloud e-Mail?

Friends:  Has anyone heard or seen a suggestion from any source on how to eliminate the several minute stall every several minutes when using iCloud E-Mail through any browser (Safari, IE-11, Chrome) on any Microsoft OS (WIN-8.1, WIN-7-SP1, WIN-XP)?  I've seen several other folks express frustration but have seen no actionable replies.
    Thanks,  George

Absolutely no one posted a reply or suggestion in over a month.  Not even one.  So, I'm abandoning this query.

  • When I am in a chat on ichat, every few minutes ichat will crash, stating that there was no data transmission

When I am in a chat on ichat, every few minutes ichat will crash, claiming that no data was being transmitted for x-number of minutes...anyone know what to do about this.

    Hi,
I doubt iChat is Crashing as Crashing is to Quit Unexpectedly rather than a Video or Audio Only chat coming to an abrupt end.
Also the Message is "NO Data received for 10 secs" not minutes.
Can you be specific about when in the chat the message appears ?
If it appears before you even manage to see the person at the other end it will most likely be a "protection" feature of your modem or router.
If you see and hear the other person for a while then it is likely  your Internet connection is not that stable.
Try setting the Bandwidth setting in the  iChat Menu >Preferences > Video section to 500kbps at both ends.

  • Mouse pauses every 2.5 seconds

Got a brand new 27 inch 3.06 Ghz Core 2 Duo iMac (2009). The magic mouse AND any USB mouse that I plug into it pauses at the same interval about every 2.5 seconds. It's just enough to screw up everything you are trying to do.
Tinkering with it, I have managed to figure out that it only does it when I use an external monitor plugged into the iMac...
I have an external 24 inch monitor plugged into the iMac to extend my desktop. The external monitor has 2 inputs (DVI and VGA). When I have both the iMac and the 24 inch monitor set to Mac (DVI), the mouse works just fine. But when the external monitor is set on the Windows machine (VGA), the mac mouse (Magic mouse or USB mouse) pauses every 2.5 seconds. I don't know why monitor input settings would cause the mouse to pause and I haven't seen any threads with the same problem. Any ideas?

The 27-inch iMac is the first (and only) Mac to make double-use of its video port.
I think you have already shown it is somehow related to the Mini DisplayPort, and you can easily reproduce the problem on-demand. Since Mac OS X still sees the second display, even when it is switched over to the VGA input, it may not be related to the new video input capability.
As a test, what happens if you put it into the state where the pausing is going on, then disconnect the adapter on the back of the iMac. I would assume iMac would pause for a second and reset to having only its built-in display, and the ongoing pausing issue would stop. Then, reconnect the adapter (display still set to VGA with active input). The iMac should reset to having the external display. Does the pausing issue start happening again?
Here's another test. With the display set to DVI, insert the Mac OS X installation disc and restart with the C key held down. This will force start up from the optical drive. When you get to Installer, you should see the default Desktop background on the external display, and that will indicate it is being recognized and used. You should be able to move your mouse cursor onto it, although the arrangement may be different. Now, do the thing that usually causes the pausing. When you are started up from a different system, does the pausing still occur?
