Mouse pointer and keyboard out of control

The mouse pointer and keyboard can not control. Only powe button can use.
The system is still running. The clock and battery indicator is still working
how to solve?

Not a solution, I'm afraid, just concurring -- I am experiencing a very similar problem with the keyboard, but not the mouse pointer. I get an intermittent temporary freeze lasting maybe ten seconds, after which it recovers. Although I suspect waking the machine from sleep may set these off, I couldn't swear to it, and I have experienced several of these sequentially, maybe five minutes apart.

Small Black Vertical Lines follow my mouse pointer AND surround all ICONS on my desktop. I just turned on my computer and it showed like this. I already tested my monitor and it's not the monitor.

Looking at websites, it's fine the display but any icons and my pointer and things that move have these lines following! Looking at VIDEO, it's the picture is full of white and black lines though you can see the video just fine.

I am in Safe Mode now: This is the weirdest thing: A bit from column A AND B:
The display is perfect EXCEPT for two parallel lines of 17, 3 millimeter-long black lines that follow the pointer everywhere it goes.
Get this: my current display is 1024x768, but when I change it to 640x480, the pointer and everything is perfect! (of course, I can only see a fraction of my desktop)
But then again... when I zoom in and out holding down control (in 640x480) the pointer lines appear again, but less lines. They disappear when I re-reset it to 640.
Strange.
But yeah, safe mode is NEAR perfect with the except of the cursor lines. I can screen grab my cursor though to show...

Using Firefox 3.6 after a few mouse click/ keyboard input the firefox window is no more active, mouse click and keyboard input is inactive ; then I click on the taskbar and the keyboard is active again during a few click then it stops again etc.

Bluetooth Mouse Pointer and Clicker Freezing

Hello,
I bought a Genius Navigator Mouse model 905BT and connected to my MacAir 11.6". I noticed that my mouse pointer and clicker froze every 15 seconds. I tried this same mouse connecting to my old Macbook 13 inch (version 10.6.2) and on my Windows Laptop with no problems encountered. There were no notifications that the mouse is disconnected and reconnected. It just freezes when I am currently using it. The batteries are new.

It has been fixed when I upgraded the Mac OS to 10.6.5 which just released today.

Try doing a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if that appears.
If that does not help, take the iPad to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs check out the screen to see if there is a hardware fault.

Lose control of mouse clicker and keyboard

When I boot up and the desktop appears everything works fine for the first 5-10 seconds, then I find I cannot use mouse clicker or keyboard. Can still move curser, however. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Share Magic Mouse, Screen and Keyboard between two Macs

Hi folks,
I'm considering buying a Magic Mouse for my work/studio-setup, mostly because of the way the touch and gesture features are implemented in Logic Pro X. Until now, I have used a Mac Pro directly connected to one DVI-display as well as a MBP. Both computers are also connected to a KVM-Switch sharing a second DVI-display and a wired Logitech Mouse and wired Apple Keyboard. I always liked this setup because I can switch between mouse and keyboard for the computers and the screen they share with the single click of a button on the KVM's remote control.
Is there any way that is as simple to control as this that I could set this up using a Magic Mouse while making sure that I can still use all Apple-specific gesture and touch functionality? From what I have read some people are using Bluetooth-Dongles on their KVMs USB-Ports, other use Software like Synergy or ShareMouse. But all of these solutions seem to make the setup more complex or seem to make some of the functionality I would buy the Magic Mouse for unusable. Instead of having to install some additional software on my machines that runs in the background all the time and is prone to compatibility issues etc., I would prefer a solution that is based on hardware and uses just Mac OS system features. Also, a solution that takes more then a couple of seconds to switch everything (KVM) between systems is not of practical use for my workflow. I would very much appreciate any hints or experience on this topic that you can share.

Automatic does not work for me on this particular task. . My primary computer is an iMac. On travel I use a MacbookPro. I want the MacbookPro to have the same Contacts list as the iMac. I am logged into iCloud on both computers. The MacbookPro needs to be syced. On it I logged out of icloud, and in doing so I chose to delete files from the computer. Then I logged in again to icloud. That put a lot of additional lists of groups into the Contacts, lists that are not on the iMac. But some individual pages are not updated to match the iMac.
I tried to manually copy (and overwrite) the various files on the MacbookPro that seemed to deal with the Contacts, including
my Library/Applicatiion Support/AddressBook
my Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist
They are still not the same.
On my Macbook I unchecked the Contacts, which deleted them and checked them again. This now deleted all of my groups and the individual ones are not synced with the iMac.
So now I have had three different versions of Contacts on the Macbook, as I manipulated turning on and off iCloud, and not one of them has been the same as on iMac.
How do I get the Macbook contacts to be the same as on iMac?

Modal dialog limiting the mouse pointer and blocking all application

I wanted to create a modal dialog that blocks all application in my desktop. Only password field be present and exits only if correct password is typed. I also wanted to limit the mouse pointer within the window of the modal dialog. Will that be possible? i have read modality feature of Mustang(beta) and notes there that system modality is not included. Can anybody there give me an idea how to do tricks on blocking all applications of the desktop? I will be much grateful to anybody who could solve this problem. Thnx in advance...

all i wanted is to make an internet cafe client/server that blocks the client's pc interaction if log time is reached.blocking only the keyboard and mouse.
i have seen so many softwares sets the cursor position within the dialog bounding box only with user and password there. though my other application runs the mouse is still captured on the dialog even the dialog lost focus.
if that would not be possible I'll just send notification to the client, a dialog that does not block any application.
now, im going to try if the client can do som action whenever the server sends alert if the client java app is not the focus. i will post next time what hapens.but if you tried already, if u dont mind posting it so others could know it also..

Mouse buttons and keyboard randomly stop responding on secondary display

Hey,
I'm facing this weird problem after a recent upgrade to Snow Leopard:
In about half of the cases I'm switching to application windows on a secondary/external display the mouse buttons and Macbook keyboard are unresponsive. I have to keep clicking/pressing for some time or have to switch between applications to get them working, until they'll fail again after some time.
I tested it with two different external displays with VGA and DVI adapter, different screen resolutions, I tested the mouse and mouse software, both keyboard and mouse work fine with the same applications moved to the primary laptop screen, trackpad works fine too.
This occurred after the upgrade to Snow Leopard on a 2008 unibody Macbook. Updates to 10.6.2 didn't solve the problem.
I'd be happy if anyone could help me with this issue.

You do not provide the full model number but if it is an AMD processor you are seeing the start of video issues that plague that series. The freeze is caused by bad video memory which is a part of the video card in turn part of the motherboard. I have been getting a high percentage of people who do not respond back to posts so I am not going to write everything about your issue; it could be a book. I am happy to help further if you have any questions. There are some repair options but at the end of the day, you might want to consider a new laptop.

Spaces, mouse pointer, and X11

Hi Everyone,
I have already filled to bug reports, but also wanted to post here as well. I use X11 and rdesktop to access remote Windows servers at work. I use rdesktop as the terminal server client from Leopard. I am noticing that if Spaces is enabled and either of the following 2 actions are performed, mouse click location is out of sync to where the mouse is displayed on the screen:
1) Move an X11 window from one Space to another Space
2) Activate Spaces and select a new Space or reselect the same Space
Performing either of these will make it so the mouse clicking behavior is unusable. I have kill X11 and restart it. This pretty much prevents me from using Spaces.
Has anyone else noticed this type of behavior. I can reproduce it every time. This never ever was an issue with Tiger.

Yes, I have filed a bug report on this too. X11 on Leopard is basically a broken beta release, I've had much better luck dumping it and re-installing the Tiger version of X11. Spaces can still be a little jumpy sometimes, but its not unusable like the Leopard X11 version.

When the page is viewed on the live site, the mouse pointer remains
an arrow-so it's not obvious that the hotspot is a live link. Is

Don't do that. It's unnecessary. Just make sure that the link
is correctly
applied to the hotspot and you'll get the desired cursor.

So far I'm dissapointed with Mac O/S .....so many areas lack common sense, require unnessary extra clicks and is not as customizable as Windows. It's like Apple thinks you are a child and not entitled to choose for yourself so that they can control your info for you.
The mouse/trackpad problem is a major issue that Apple should be proactive in offering a solution for. If anyone has a solution to this I'd be greateful to hear it.

Is this the first time you're using a Mac?
If so the learning curve is somewhat steep - but, if you put in the time and use this knowledge base whenever you run into issues you'll be up to speed soon enough.
With regards to the trackpad/mouse, you can adjust the sensitivity by:
1. Click the Apple Logo on the top left hard corner of your screen
2. Click System Preferences
3. Click Trackpad
Adjust the tracking speed to your specifications.
Also familiarise yourself with the gestures (activate the ones you can remember)
To go back to the menue by clicking Show All
4. Click Mouse
Adjust your mouse settings to your specification.
And why use mac?
It just works...
(most of the time ;p)
