Mouse pointer rather slow

After changing mouse pointer acceleration in control panel to maximum, mouse pointer is faster, but still rather slow. At least slower, than it is with windows7. In windows7 it´s one move from left to right. In Windows10 I have to move twice. It´s an asus
notebook with mouse-pad.

Hi poet-man,
If you mean the mouse-pad device, I suggest you check if there are any latest driver for it.
If you upgrade from previous operating system, it is recommended to uninstall the device from device manager restart your PC to check how it works.

I recently bought, from the original website of Adobe, Photoshop elements 13. However, when I go with my mouse pointer over the menu, It hangs or he works very slow. Does anyone have an idea how I can fix it? I have already downloaded updates, both from Adobe and Windows. I have a new pc with window 8.1.

It could be a coincidence, but I rebooted the machine and (knock on wood) PSE13 seems to be working ok.

  • When a link is rolled over by the mouse pointer a very annoying pop up with the link address shows up. There seems to be no way to prevent this from happening. How can this pop up be made to go away?

no matter what website, every time I move the mouse pointer over something to click on a line of black printing in a thin white box pops up at the bottom of the screen and shows me the http address of the item I'm about to click on. I want to shut this function off or remove it if possible. I find that the previous version did not do this, it seems to be unique to 6.0. It's VERY distracting and ANNOYING. How can I make it go away????

When you hover the mouse cursor over any link, it will display the link details at the bottom left of the screen; black font on white background.
This display can be very important as it shows the full address of the hyperlink. This can be particulary useful for checking on whether the link is bona-fida. For example; if you receive an email that looks like it is from a bank , hovering over the link will indicate instantly that the link is pretending to be something it isn't.
Another example that can be useful; a website link may say 'contact me' rather than give the actual email address. However, when you hover over the link, the actual email address will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. If you click on the link then Outlook usually opens, however I do not use Outlook, so displaying the email address is useful.
This display is something that has always been present and it is also displayed if you use IE.
However, I can see that this annoys you, so you could try the following:
After installing the addon, you will need to restart Firefox, then go to History and Restore previous session to get all your tabs and webpages back.
You will now find that when you hover over any link, it will now display in your address bar on the right hand side.
If this helps, please say this question has been solved.

  • Is there a way to keep the mouse pointer in my window

I would like to change the cursor so that it can not go outside my application window until they exit the program. Is this possible?

Just because you disagree with its usage does not make
it an invalid question. Suppose you had an
application dedicated to real-time monitoring of a
high-pressure system. In our hypothetical example,
accessing other parts of the system without first
properly "dismissing" the application could be
potentially hazardous - people could get hurt. In
this case, would it not make sense to make the
application "system-modal"? Furthermore, it would be
a convenience to the operator if the mouse pointer
were trapped in this critical application.
How would one go about trapping the mouse cursor
inside this application?Yes, it would make sense to make this application system-modal. And it would also make sense to not allow any other applications to run on the monitoring system. For such an application, then, it would occupy the entire screen and there would be no way to swap away from it to any other application. Which is what several people suggested for this rather non-critical application, I believe.
But in the ordinary case, where you are running on a system that does allow multiple applications to run, trapping the mouse cursor in a single application is bad manners and an alternate solution should be sought.

  • Lenovo G550 - Keyboard/Mouse/Pointer Issues - PLEASE HELP Tech suppport couldn't.

I spent over an hour on the phone with Lenovo tech support last week to try to solve this issue and it is not solved. The guy had never heard of it and kept researching how to fix it.  I personally  have this feeling that it's a very very simple issue but I can't figure out how to correct it.  I've changed mouse/pointer settings and it still isn't working.  I love my new laptop in every other way but i'm getting so frustrated with it I'm ready to send it back because of the problem with the mouse/pointer.  So if anyone could help me I'd appreciate it greatly.
I will be typing and out of nowhere the cursor will move to wherever the mouse is...or it will highlight everything I just typed and delete it.  I've had to type much slower and keep moving the mouse but when i'm working on my projects and typing away and highlighting/editing, I get into the work and it's a pain in the rear when the cursor suddenly moves a paragraph up and I am still typing away and sometimes don't realize it until i've typed another two sentences.  Hence the typing slower.
Today it deleted discussion posts I had typed up for my online classes before I had hit submit. Causing me to waste another 30 minutes trying to retype what I'd already done.  I was ready to throw this laptop in the garbage.
I decided to not do that and post in this forum in the hopes that someone will be able to help me.
    Thank you,
    Komal

    @ shelagh
try to un-install touchpad drivers, restart your computer and check if issue persists.
and/or try to flash bios update ( for bios update, read readme file first )

  • Files/Folders Sticking to Mouse Pointer - Not Releasing (Reset PRAM & Apple Hardware Test Fail to Run)

I've been having two issues with my Late 2008 MacBook Pro 15-inch - Running OS X 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion).  Unable to Reset the PRAM and Run Apple Hardware Test (AHT).
On a random basis - File/Folder icons are Sticking to the Mouse Pointer - Not Releasing.  I've done everything from trashing finder preferences, making sure Universal Access preferences are off, Restoring Defaults in the Energy Saver System Preferences, Resetting the System SMC.  Another post mentioned that this is being caused by the Graphics Driver not working correctly - and mentioned to put the MBP to sleep, then wake it up, and the files/folders are no longer sticking to the mouse pointer.  This works for me and released the sticking items in the Finder.
OK, Good this is a simple fix, BUT, what is really causing this issue, and how may it be fixed or repaired?
I also tried to Reset the PRAM and Run the Apple Hardware test (AHT), and these both fail to run on my MacBook Pro with OS X 10.8.5.
    1) Resetting the PRAM:
Shut down the MBP, press the power button, and hold down at the same time <option><command>-P-R.  The Reset PRAM process never starts up, but rather I receive the Padlock/Password Login which logs me into the Restore System Utilities.  I'm unable to Reset the PRAM.
    2) Apple Hardware Test (AHT):
Shut down the MBP, press the power button, and hold down the "D" key, the system boots up as normal and does not enter the AHT.
The File/Folder Finder sticking to the mouse pointer issue is very annoying.  Does anyone have a solution to resolve this issue?
    - Cheers

    HI Barbara,
It sounds like the hard drive is failing or has failed. Boot from your Mac install disc and if you can run Disk Utility in case the startup disk needs repairs.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
*(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)*
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. *Make sure there is always 10% to 15% free disk space*
If you cannot boot from your install disc, try booting in Safe Mode
    What is Safe Mode

  • Mouse pointer freezes sometimes

Whenever I unplug my iPod (shuffle) from the keyboard (of course after having the volume unmounted), some seconds later the mouse pointer freezes and the computer is totally unresponsive for some seconds. Then everything is normal again, i.e. the mouse pointer can be moved again.
The "system.log" tells something about communication problems with the USB and bus reset or similar.
Is this meant with "hot pluggable"? Should not the iPod be independent from the keyboard or mouse?

    As far as I remember:
    - It does not happen when directly connected to the computer
    - It has never happened with the G3, only with the G5
And, yes, the iPod's firmware is the latest one.
And: Connecting the iPod to the keyboard is just more convenient, even if it's slower. As the MacOS does multitasking, I do not mind if a data transfer runs with two megabytes per second or with one, because I can do something else in the meantime.

  • Mouse pointer icon

My mouse pointer changes to other icons then does not change back to the default arrow.
It has done this since installing tiger 6 months ago. I discovered if I move the pointer around the dock launch it will randomly get fixed.
    Anyone have a suggestion?

Not really sure if this will help, but try moving the Scroll Speed to a slower one.

  • Mouse pointer/hardware annoying

I'm not sure if anyone else is having this problem or it's just me. Basically I get really annoyed with the mouse pointer (trackball or regular mouse) option where it detects the speed you move the mouse and works accordingly. In other words, I might move the mouse a bit slow and it moves really really slow...I want it to move with me like my pc works. I hope this makes sense. There is some option I remember reading about that does this, but I can't think of its name.
Is there anyway to make the mouse work normally?

  • Mouse pointer stutter as well as DVD pauses

I recently experienced problems with playing DVDs AND my mouse pointer (trackpad). The DVDs are interrupted with subtle pauses, which makes it rather unpleasant to watch a film. The mouse too is interrupted, stops in the flow and then jumps back on track. I haven't experienced difficulties before, but I had recently installed a USB Modem (+software) to get online, which never worked. I deinstalled, however, the "stutters" in DVD and mouse pointer persist. I ran Disk Repair - nothing noted. Any ideas?

  • Mouse pointer hand lost on links

There are a number of references to this problem (mouse pointer over a link momentarily turns to a hand before becoming the arrow again) all seem to be answered when the problem goes away. I have this problem and I know that if I close Safari and reopen it the problem clears.
    For a few days...
For me the problem hasn't been resolved as I'd like to know why its happening in the first place and fix it properly rather than a short term solution.

    Hi Redsmartie!
I get this occasionally and though it works yes it's a little weird to have the arrow showing instead of the hand. I don't get it very often so it's no big deal for me. If you get it often I'm not sure what can make it go away really? Possibly a re-install of Safari is your best bet? Or you could try some basic clean up (repair permissions, disk, reset Safari, replace plist) but can't say if that will help much?

  • Mouse Pointer shows "Edit Cursor" "|" where it should be a arrow (pointer)

I have noticed that at times the mouse pointer shows a Edit cursor when it should be
    a standard mouse arrow.
This happens when a leave one application and navigate to another application.
I am able to use the "|" cursor to click, but it seems rather odd.
I would really like to know if someone else has noticed this?

Are you using Fast User Switching (FUS)? Are you running an application that keeps a window always on top?
I have encountered a reproducible problem which causes the mouse pointer to fail to revert to the default arrow. I do not know if it is a general OS X issue, or caused by this specific app only (I just reported the problem to the app vendor, will report back on the resolution).
In my case, if user "A" is running a program that has an "always on top" window, and that application has the "focus", and I then use FUS to switch to any other user, the mouse pointer for that user will "stick" in its most recent variation - be it a pointing finger (for a link), an edit cursor, a window resize cursor, etc. If you move from a link for example to a text box, the cursor will change to the new form, but it will not revert to the default arrow. To "solve" the problem, do this:
before using FUS to change to another user, click on another application (e.g. the Finder), so that the problem application does not have the "focus". Does any of this relate to your problem?

  • Random mouse pointer freezes

On my PPC dual 2.7 running latest Leopard 10.5.2, I have started experiencing random mouse pointer freezes. The freezes last about 10 seconds or so, then all goes back to normal. This happens maybe 10 times a day.
I cannot correlate this to any recent updates or installations. I have repaired permissions and zapped PRAM. My PPC is on 24/7 so all automatic maintenance routines run when they should.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Are you using Time Machine or .Mac Synchronizing? Those automatically run about once an hour and can temporarily slow the computer function.
Open Activity Monitor from the Finder menu, Go/Utilities, Activity Monitor. When the cursor movement slows, look at what application is using the most CPU.
You might also want to restart the computer once every day (or night). You can use the System Preferences Energy Saver to set it up to automatically restart when you are not likely to be using the computer, like 3 AM. The restart does a bunch of system checks and resets things to improve function.

  • Disable the mouse pointer icon!

As in the title, is there a way to disable the mouse pointer
icon, ie when you rollover the button it changes to the "finger". I
dont want to see the "finger" I just want it to remain as the
    "arrow"

Well, I must by now reply to all of you.
First, "urami" made a good point when referring to kiosk
interfaces. It makes sense to have no roll over in this case and I
    fully agree with this statement.
But in the case of the interfaces we commonly create in Flash
we need the finger icon to indicate that there is a photo-button or
a drawing-button or a clickable text here and, if we want to "hide"
it or if we do not want the user click it, we can with simple
functions (related to _x and _y mouse position) disable or enable
depending the circumstances the hot spot when the pointer rolls
    over it.
The quoted remark of "DMennenoh" is not relevant.
Why? Simply because in the OS all buttons are clearly
designed as... buttons! There is no need to change the pointer icon
as we perfectly know what we are going to do and where we must move
the pointer to do the action: Open, Save, etc. And it is not only
the case for buttons, it's also the case for the menu bar...
