  • Small Black Vertical Lines follow my mouse pointer AND surround all ICONS

    Small Black Vertical Lines follow my mouse pointer AND surround all ICONS on my desktop. I just turned on my computer and it showed like this. I already tested my monitor and it's not the monitor.
    See a picture of my problem here on my me gallery:
    http://gallery.me.com/egarfias/100024
    Looking at websites, it's fine the display but any icons and my pointer and things that move have these lines following! Looking at VIDEO, it's the picture is full of white and black lines though you can see the video just fine.
    Any ideas? Thank you!!

    I am in Safe Mode now: This is the weirdest thing: A bit from column A AND B:
    The display is perfect EXCEPT for two parallel lines of 17, 3 millimeter-long black lines that follow the pointer everywhere it goes.
    Get this: my current display is 1024x768, but when I change it to 640x480, the pointer and everything is perfect! (of course, I can only see a fraction of my desktop)
    But then again... when I zoom in and out holding down control (in 640x480) the pointer lines appear again, but less lines. They disappear when I re-reset it to 640.
    Strange.
    But yeah, safe mode is NEAR perfect with the except of the cursor lines. I can screen grab my cursor though to show...

  • Can't undo a Huge Mouse Pointer after upgrading from Tiger to Leopard.

    I did an upgrade from Leopard to Tiger.
    When I was on Tiger, I had a setting for a huge mouse pointer. I upgraded to Leopard. No matter how many times I reset the pointer to small, when restarting it goes back to huge.
    How can I fix this?

    gaccawi,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    No matter how many times I reset the pointer to small, when restarting it goes back to huge.
    That statement indicates to me that you have made this attempt using System Preferences>Universal Access>Mouse>For difficulties seeing the mouse...Normal.
    If that is the true, have you previously installed any third party pointer software?
    ;~)

  • Undo bug, mouse pointer disappears?

    Is just me or everyone has that annoying "undo" bug?
    That's what happens: when I press UNDO speedgrade starts to behave strangely.
    - If I press undo after clicking right mouse button (and I'm moving a color wheel with mouse) comes out a message "optimizing timeline" and timeline thumbnails are shown under the timeline. Sometimes there is a worst scenario: mouse pointer disappears and I have to quit SG and reopen to get my pointer back.
    - Pressing ctrl-z without right mouse button clicked (outside wheel edit mode, or whatever it is called..) sometimes works, sometimes appears the annoying progress bar "optimizing timeline" and several steps of undo are taken, even if I pressed cmd+z just one time.
    I use undo A LOT, and now I'm not confident using it because of this strange behavior (I'm on osx).
    Are you experiencing the same problems?

    You won't believe this but just cleaning a mouse can improve performance... read the following:
    How to Clean a Mechanical Mouse
    This article explains when and how you should clean a mechanical mouse. It does not apply to the the Apple Pro Mouse.
    You should clean a mouse if it is does not track smoothly, or if it jumps or skips. A mouse contains a small ball that must roll smoothly for the mouse to work properly. You should keep this ball free of dirt and oil by using the mouse on a clean, lint-free surface, and cleaning it occasionally.
    Use the following procedure to clean a mouse:
    1. Turn off your computer.
    2. Turn the mouse upside down and rotate the plastic ring on the bottom counterclockwise to release it.
    3. Turn the mouse right side up with one hand and catch the ring and ball with your other hand.
    4. Clean the three small rollers inside the mouse with a cotton swab moistened with water. Rotate the rollers to clean all around them. If there is a build-up of material on the rollers that the cotton swab does not remove, you can use your fingernail to gently remove the material.
    5. Wash the mouse ball in soapy, warm water with a mild soap such as a dishwashing liquid if oil from your hands has collected on it. Be sure to dry the mouse ball thoroughly.
    6. Gently blow into the mouse case to remove any accumulated dust.
    7. Put the mouse ball back in the mouse case and replace the retaining ring.
    If cleaning the mouse as described does not correct your issue, the mouse may need to be replaced. Have an Apple Authorized Service Provider check it for excessive wear or other failure.
    If that doesn't do the trick, if this is a mouse that required 3rd party drivers, you might try reinstalling the drivers. Also, try going back to default Mouse preferences on all Users, see if makes a difference.

  • Mouse Pointer speed/inaccuracy

    Hi,
    I'm using a Apple Might Mouse. And I cant stand the system acceleration setting, where the mouse pointer moves as if it's dragging through mud.
    How can I get it a bit closer to Windows/Linux pointer where it's moving freely.
    I've tried Mousesteer v3.2. That worked brilliant. But I dont have a Debit/Credit card to purchase it . USB Overdrive is OK, but not brilliant.
    Are there any other programs out there. I have tried other mices, and they have the same problem.
    Thanks

    I am also having the same problem with this. I don't think it's right to pay another 25 bucks for something that should have been integrated into the system by default. Come on!
    I'm using A.) a trackpad and B.) a laser-based Logitech G5, which doesn't care what surface it is on regardless of what computer it's plugged into. I use it for gaming on my PC all the time.
    The surface doesn't matter, in this case.
    mousefix, at www.knockknock.org.uk/mac/ seems to work alright but now it's broken and I can't seem to fix it again. I've tinkered with this a lot and can't get it.
    Just implement a small patch for this in OS X 10.4.8 - NOT that hard! Especially if this guy could do it.

  • Mouse pointer is flickring when i am using FIREFOX 4 why ?????

    me mouse pointer keeps on FLICKRING when i use FIREFOX 4. it doesn't flickr when i use google chrome or IE. why is it so?????
    its really annoying me plzzz tell what to do.????? i closed firefox many times but still the same problem.

    Same problem with my site. I'm mainly using Arial on my site too, but it effects other fonts too like Verdana. With long text block the placement goes all wrong, causing text to go on top of each other and text goes behind pictures.
    Seems like this is caused by some particular graphics cards with some specific drivers.
    My site did work ok with FF4, untill I updated my graphics card.
    EDIT: Noticed that the problem only occurs when I use font sizes of 11 or bigger. Size 10 and smaller are all working ok.

    Cauld,
    Thanks!    So far the Ctrl-Alt-Del then Escape brings back my mouse pointer.
    Obviously, I'm not going to mark this as a solution but at least you've saved me from having to reboot frequently. I appreciate your participation.
    Steven,
     This error is unrelated to the physical mouse being plugged in. It happens in tablet and laptop mode,  I've tried to follow my actions to determine when it disappears but as far as I can tell it's random.  Suddenly I'll go to do something and I no longer have a arrow on my screen.  If I move my finger around the touch pad I can tell it's still calculating where the mouse pointer is located but there's no image to confirm the location.
    I have experienced freezing but only when I try to close an application in full screen mode using the system menu icon on the top left. It usually will trigger some form of the left swipe for active programs. Instead of the normal program images I get a small square in the top left and it freezes for about a minute.  I'm trying to relearn my habit of exiting a program by using the top right title bar icon.
    So,  Lenovo support, please keep open the disappearing mouse pointer report. I'm willing to accept the possibility it is a software app conflict and will let you know if I can track down the cause.
    Thanks,
    Bill
    Thanks Bill,
    I will keep an eye open should I experience the same kind of issue, so far I have not.

  • Mouse pointer disappears and makes strange movements

    First: I'm afraid my English is not good enough (I speak Spanish).
    So,
    Sometimes the mouse pointer disappears but it's still able to click. It reappears when I do right click. Also, sometimes the pointer have a strange behavior, like crazy movements very fast. I just wait 10 second and it work fine again. I don't know if anyone here have this problems too.

  • Mouse pointer snap range

    Can anyone advise if I can change the snap range (number of screen pixels around a graphics point) for the mouse pointer. I use a CAD program and need to increase the area on screen that the mouse pointer uses to pick up points etc. With the increased screen
    resolution the area (number of pixels) that the mouse pointer needs to be in to find a point gets smaller all the time and there is no provision in the software to increase the target area pixels.
    Regards
    Mark

    Hi Mark
    As I know,CAD programs should have related settings in options Dialog Box. You should be able to set the display size for the object snap target box in pixels. You could contact with program manufacturers check on this.
    This kind of settings might not come with Winodws, Windows provide basic driver for devices, Manufacturers might offer advanced driver program for their products. You also could download these program to modify these settings such as DPI.
    We suggest you modify these settings in your CAD program so it can only affect the usage in CAD.

  • Mouse Pointer resizes when applying pointer style to all

    When Captivate records my SW demo, it uses up to three different mouse pointer styles at different times (Haven't quite figured out what the protocol is).  I really don't like this and would like only one style used (the hand).  So when I right click on the hand pointer on a slide, and choose "Use the current mouse pointer for all slides," any pointer that was automatically changed to the hand pointer is much smaller (shrinked by 50%) and I still have to end up manually selecting the hand pointer for each one.
    Does anyone know why this is happening?
    Is there a way to select a default or standard pointer to be used at all times?
    TIA,
    Vicky
    Captivate 8 user

    Here's the shortest code with the problem I could come up with.... You can run it if you create two different default paragraph styles: 'Product - Description' and 'Product - Title No Indent';
    The problem is that the first line should have 'Product - Description' style, but it instead it gets 'Product - Title No Indent'.
    If I comment out one of the paragraphs, everything works fine. What's wrong?
    var doc = app.documents.add(),
        product, text_frame, i, l;
    product = {
        'text': [
                'style': 'Product - Description',
                'text': 'Designed for monitoring sterilization processes.'
                'style': 'Product - Title No Indent',
                'text': 'Designed for monitoring sterilization processes.'
                'style': 'Product - Description',
                'text': 'Designed for monitoring sterilization processes.'
    text_frame = doc.pages[0].textFrames.add();
    text_frame.geometricBounds = [ '0pt', '0pt', '240pt', '300pt'];
    for ( i = 0, l = product.text.length; i < l; i++ ) {
        text_frame.contents += "\r" + product.text[i].text;
        text_frame.parentStory.paragraphs[-1].appliedCharacterStyle = doc.characterStyles[0];
        text_frame.parentStory.paragraphs[-1].applyParagraphStyle(
            doc.paragraphStyles.item( product.text[i].style )

  • Mouse pointer does not stick on fader when moving it

    Using Logic Pro 9. If I grab any fader, the mouse pointer turns into a small dot. If I then drag the fader up or down, the dot does not stick on the fader. Instead, I find I have to drag the dot well above or below the fader to make big adjustments. Is there any setting to control this? Or is this just how it is in Logic. In all other audio applications I've seen, the mouse pointer sticks on the fader when moving it up or down.

    No - haven't found a fix for this yet. I can only guess that maybe it wasn't as noticeable when display screens weren't so big. I'm running on a 27" iMac so the effect is quite pronounced. I supposed it could be argued that it gives you a finer grain of control to make small changes - but it really takes away from the 'feel' like you are moving a real fader.

  • Mouse pointer is unchangeable at 100% scaling in multi monitor setup with different resolutions

    Hi there, I have been asked by one of the moderators of the Windows 8.1 forums to post this topic here.  You can see the thread relating to this post here
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-tms/cant-change-the-cursor-pointer/ae8ad8a0-3ded-4810-a3be-794f6c4830a4?msgId=2bd7082f-f5d1-4b01-8c70-e0d2a754d66f&page=1<o:p></o:p>
    The problem:  The mouse pointer becomes unchangeable in size, type, trails etc when 100% scaling is used.  As in it reverts to the standard small white non-inverted, no trails,
    no shadow 'pointer', no matter what options you select in the 'Mouse' control panel settings.<o:p></o:p>
    This appears to be a scaling problem with the Windows 8/8.1 display, not an actual mouse problem.  Judging by my own and other peoples experience it seems to happen mainly with multi
    monitor setups where different screen resolutions are used.  The issue occurs typically when 100% scaling for all monitors is used or this option is un-ticked and the 'change the size of all items' is on smallest (equivalent to 100%).  <o:p></o:p>
    If the scaling is set to 150% or greater the issue disappears and the mouse pointer becomes fully functional.  Also bizarrely when the scaling is set to 100% if the screen is recorded
    using a screen capture program, the recording of the screen shows the mouse pointer selected in the mouse options and not the default small white cursor that is present when recording it.  Here is a link to a video where I explain and show the problem
    happening on my system.  http://youtu.be/xs2cxoeaq-A<o:p></o:p>
    I have every update installed without exception, latest drivers etc.  I use a 55" 4k screen with 2x1080p monitors in portrait on either side.  All are connected through 1 Nvidia
    GTX 780 6GB graphics card<o:p></o:p>
    Hope you can help us<o:p></o:p>
    thanks<o:p></o:p>
    Jon M<o:p></o:p>

    Hi Jon,
    I'm looking into this issue but it will take me some time to provide a reply.
    In the meantime I noticed that you have 3 monitors with 1x 55' and 2x27' - please have a try to only connect 1x27' monitor and see if issue persists.
    Also please try to change the screen resolution to a lower size and see if issue persists.
    Both suggestions are not solution, I just would like to know if it is related to multiple monitor or screen resolution.
    If you have any feedback on our support, please send to [email protected]

  • I updated my iMac to lion and now when i leave my desktop and it goes into stand by it like a picture is taken of the screen and when i want to log in the mouse point removes pixels so i can get to the user login screen this never happened ith snow leopar

    i upgraded my iMac to lion and now when i leave my desktop and it goes into stand by mode, its like a picture is taken of the actice desktop and when i want to log in the mouse point removes pixels so i can get to the user login screen this never happened ith snow leopard. does anyone else experience this and is there a fix?

    I have an iMac 8, 1 that I upgraded Leopard to Snow Leopard.  It was totally updated with the latest from Apple when I bought and tried installing Lion.  The upgrade failed, shot my OS and I couldn't boot.  Had the constant spinner on a grey screen..  did a format of the drive, hdd repair and everything came back clean... got back to Snow Leopard and all the updates on it again and then retried the Lion thing... same bs... dead duck.  Crashed my system one too many times.  I can't see where a few small changes, mostly app related can be classified as an OS upgrade and is not compatible with my iMac.  I have the stuff running on my Mac Pro but have yet to notice anything impressive.  I've always used F3 and really didn't require Mission Control.  Just open you app folder for launch pad... duh?  I use the hot corners anyhow.  As far as Safari is concerned... as a power user, Apple missed the boat on that for me.. full screen etc.. Wow.  I don't like the new Mail either..
    As you can see/read, I'm less than impressed with this release from Apple but I own so many of their products that I will have to put up with it for now... somehow the MS logo should apply to this release Steve.

  • Lost mouse-pointer

    What is the procedure to adopt if the mouse-pointer vanishes ?

    Just bought a brand-new Toshiba satellite laptop model C553 – B5203. It was working fine until I allowed it to update to Windows 10 After the reboot it has frozen with a small box labeled start menu updated I've tried Control alt delete but then could not choose anything without the mouse, also tried turning it on and off with no success. Not sure what to do. Thanks in advance
