Mouse randomly moving to top corner!

My mouse is giving me trouble... it always wants to be up in the top left corner of my screen. It started randomly with my Magic Mouse, so I switched to a corded USB mouse and the problem still persists. I've never had any problems with either my Mac or my mouse, but now this. If I sleep the machine via the button on the back (I have an Intel-based desktop iMac running 10.5.8) the problems is temporarily fixed, but then comes back a few minutes later.
I usually have great luck finding the solution to my problem on these forums, but can't seem to find a similar issue. Any ideas?
Thank you!

Try using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk.
You could have some directory corruption. Let us know what errors Disk Utility reports and if DU was able to repair them. Disk Utility's Disk Repair is not perfect and may not find or repair all directory issues. A stronger utility may be required to finish the job.
After that Repair Permissions.
No need to report Permissions errors....we all get them.

  • Mouse keeps moving to the corner of the screen

Just a few days ago, my iMac's mouse started to jump randomly to the top left corner, bottom left corner, or just the bottom of the screen. It has gotten so bad I can play no games and browsing on the web has gotten seriously annoying.
I've tried everything to fix this. I have used both a magic mouse and a regular USB mouse, with both having the problem. I have tried multiple surfaces and it doesn't seem to be a problem with the surface or the optics of either mouse. I believe this is a hardware problem.
I have also tried resetting bluetooth, restarting the computer, and resetting NVRAM. I'm at a loss now; this has gotten very annoying.
Are there any other suggestions for what to do?

I'm having a simlar issue but with very different circumstances. Recently, after installing he most current update for Mountain Lion, my mouse point has been jumping randomly to a different area when scrolling. However, this occurs when I use the trackpad rather than the magic mouse - even after turning off bluetooth radio. It appears this problem occurs when scrolling through a web page in Safari.

  • Wired mouse randomly jumps to corner

For months if not over a year now I've had an Apple mouse (model no A1152, EMC No 2058) which randomly jumps to a corner. It's nothing to do with the pad graphic as I bought a new one thinking this. The cursor will stay in the corner forever unless I lift the mouse from the pad and when it's placed back down it release. It's seriously annoying. I've swapped to the one my wife uses on her Mac BookPro (model no 5769 EMC No 1967) and the same thing happens. She is using my mouse and hasn't noticed it happening on the MBP!
To eliminate any further causes, I've also added a new drive to my MP and installed 10.6.8 (was on 10.5.8 on other drive) so effectively I'm working on a new machine!
Does anyone have any suggestions for the cause?
    Thanks

Not sure what you're telling me here, I don't have a Wacom tablet...!!??

  • Mouse frozen - stuck in top left corner

Mouse is stuck in top left corner of log in screen.
    Will not move.
Have restarted repeatedly and also done a safe mode restart.
Any ideas or has the trackpad simply died?

I didn't even suggest that because I would have thought that would be the first thing anyone would have checked for!   If you flip the on/off switch on the bottom of the mouse do you have a blinking green light?  Whether you do or don't, if you are unsure of the batteries then replace them.

  • My apps have all moved on top of each other in the top left corner if I drag them back every time I change page then change back they go back to the corner .what have I done

My apps have all moved on top of each other in the top left hand corner of the page.every time I drag them back to where they are ghosting on the page ,then change page and back again they r back in the corner again help what have I done

Try a Reset... press the home and sleep/lock buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

  • HD icon moving to the very right top corner of the screen after startup...

    Hi everybody,
this is apparently an old problem in Mac OSX (I have found only very old posts) that should have been resolved already. It happened to me sometimes that, after startup, the HDD icon, which is normally on my right top corner, moves by itself to the very top right corner almost behind the upper bar (almost at behind the magnifying glass of spotlight). In the finder preferences I have forced the snap to the grid option a long time ago and it seemed to have solved the issue but not! it is not the case.
I have the feeling that this happens at some starts (not the very first one) after making ONYX maintenance but I am not sure of that.
May you please tell me if other people have already encountered a similar problem?
It is not a virus or malware, is it?
    Cheers

It is not a virus or malware, is it?
oh, please don't even mention viruses. there aren't any OS X viruses and what's happening to you is decidedly not a virus or a malware. you have a minor corruption of finder preferences or of the desktop DS_Store file.
reset your finder preferences. delete the file home directory/library/preferences/com.apple.finder.plist. then control-option-click on finder in the dock and choose "relaunch". next close all finder windows, and delete ALL .DS_Store files on your hard drive using ONYX http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/systemdiskutilities/onyx.html
start ONYX, go to maintenance->rebuild and delete .DS_Store files. then restart and set up your desktop as you want. it should stay put from now on.

  • How can I delete an app from launchpad, that doesn't have the little cross in the left top corner. The app isn't an App Store app. The application is also not present anymore in my application's folder in finder.

How can I delete an app from launchpad, that doesn't have the little cross in the left top corner. The app isn't an App Store app. The application is also not present anymore in my application's folder in finder.
I tried to use the attached command through TERMINAL :
    sqlite3 ~/Library/Application\ Support/Dock/*.db "DELETE from apps WHERE title='Help';" && killall Dock
sqlite3: Error: too many options: "DELETE from apps WHERE title='Help';"
Use -help for a list of options.
But i didn't work as I got the above error message.
    best regards

I'm in the same boat as you -- except that I manage both a school lab (volunteer job) and macs in the enterprise (pay job).  What I think we need is the Education Volume Purchasing Program
    http://www.apple.com/education/volume-purchase-program/faq.html
Unfortunately this all seems a little rough around the edges -- for example, I have found updates for AppStore apps on the support.apple.com updates download site, but then when I install them via ARD they don't actually update the software.  (The AppStore icons still show as needing the updates, and the version info reports the old version.)  The documentation is also vague about which AppleID to use in which circumstance.  I think they just haven't finished thinking through the implications of the various procedures and policies upon the various kinds of customers.  When we deployed Mountain Lion on the school lab, we made an install usb and went around and installed it on each computer -- and it appears that you are on the honor system as far as paying for all of the licenses that you install.  We did!  But they appear to have no way to enforce it.
So far, I have only deployed 9 Lion macs in my day job, and our "solution" to the AppStore showing updates problem has been to drag the AppStore icon off of the users' docks so they don't see them!

  • Set Busy cursor doesn't change until mouse is moved

    Hello,
When I use the "Set Busy.vi" to control mouse cursor appearance, it doesn't actually change until the pointer is moved. Similarly, the "Unset Busy.vi" doesn't change appearance until the mouse is moved. Is there a way to fix this?
    Thanks,
    -Dave

    Hi Dave,
I've tried this and it seems to work okay for me... do you have any example code you can post? Which version of LabView are you using?

  • What is the shortcut to maximize window (full screen) which is normally done by pressing " -- " like key on the right top corner in macbook pro ?

What is the shortcut to maximize window (full screen) which is normally done by pressing "<-->" like key on the right top corner in macbook pro ?

There's no <--> key on ANYones keyboard. (Great answer Shootist )
The other part of his answer is only applicable to certain windows (browsers specifically) as there is NO system wide maximize command in the manner you are asking.
Apple's "maximize" function (green +) simply maximizes the window to the content, not the screen.
For other keyboard shortcuts (and of course they may be outdated) try: this

  • Won't detect Logitech Bluetooth mX900 mouse unless moving it at startup

When I start up my iMac, it does not automatically detect my Logitech MX 900 bluetooth mouse unless I am moving the mouse around at the right moment. If I am not moving the mouse, a screen pops up saying the computer has been unable to detect the mouse, and doesn't detect it until I move the mouse around (sometimes it takes 3-4 tries before it detects the mouse). Moving the mouse before start up (ostensbly to wake up the mouse first) does not help. This doesn't happen with the mouse that came with my iMac, but I prefer having the buttons.
I have gone through the bluetooth set up several times and have set the preferences to automatically detect bluetooth devices, but still my mouse hides from iMac! Has anyone else come across this and figured out how to make iMac automatically detect the mouse? I like to be able to push the on/off switch and walk away while the iMac does its start up, but I feel like my cordless mouse has become an electronic leash from me to my iMac!
Logitech doesn't offer drivers for iMac for this particular mouse.
Can anyone recommend a better optical cordless mouse for iMac that doesn't have the same issues?

SORRY, my error. I just found the PDF instructions, and was able to get mouse installed and paired correctly.
By the way, this Bluetooth connecting IS way more complicated than a cell phone headset or speakerphone. I should have known.

I have the same issue witha  slight variation.  The app icons that are grayed out and cannot be deleted are DUPLICATES of other apps that I already have.  For instance I now have 2 Redbox apps - one works normally, the other cannot be opened or deleted.

  • When links are clicked, they do not fully display the NEW page until the mouse is moved.I know it is a current bug, and appears in no other browsers that I know of.

It was pointed out that my links do not function correctly on Firefox on a Windows platform. When links are clicked, they do not fully display the NEW page until the mouse is moved! I have now observed it for myself on my fathers PC running Windows XP on Firefox. My PC is on Windows7
It is the 5 version of Firefox, so I know it is a current bug, and appears in no other browsers that I know of.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
In Firefox 4+ you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)
