Mouse skip imac 27 (ATI Radeon HD 5750) and second monitor

Hi
Yesterday i bought a new mousepad and a second monitor
I noticed that i had some trouble with my mouse skipping around the monitor, and my first thought was for my mousepad texture, but is not that
this morning i tried:
- with different surfaces, but with no luck - still skipping around
- try different mouse: a small laptop mouse - still skipping around
- try different mouse: old mighty mouse (USB) - still skipping around (it is also very slow even a top speed)
- then i try different USB ports - still skipping around
after that i thought at yesterday changes... since the mac is new, i did install some different software and A NEW MONITOR
so i tried to unplug the new monitor and the mouse works fine.... i actually got a little worried
i did plug the monitor again, turn it back on and everything worked... turn monitor off and mouse skips around
SO.. the problem is that with a second monitor pluged in but turned off, mouse get crazy

  • Crash with ATI Radeon X1900 XT and second HD display (DVI) ?

    hi ! i have a realy tough one for you guys : since 3-4 days i've been getting this realy strange (and scary!) kernal panic screen / crashes / freeze with my macpro dual 2.66 with ati radeon X1900 xt.
    the crashes keep coming while doing extensive work (video converting, renders) or just letting the macpro running doing nothing much all night long...
    now this is what i found for now : if i disconect my 2nd display (samsung syncmaster 2493hm HD in DVI 1080p) it seem to be stable. when i reconnect it sometime it can run again with this 2nd display for a while but when i leave a render all night long the next morning it will be frozen, nothing on screen (all black).
    after rebooting it get this crash report from the system :

    Are you really still running 10.6.3? you will need 10.6.5+ so do that and make a clone.
    ATI 5770 from Apple Store - like 1000s of others have done and in the comments section on the store page.

  • 10.6.4 / iMac ATI Radeon HD 5750 graphics bugs

    Once again, ATI drivers suck, this time my new iMac has clearly visible artifacts that make pretty much any game unplayable. I'd attach a screenshot except you can't here.
    Is this a known bug already, if so, when will there be a fix?

    I think I've the same problem.
    I try to play the sims 3 for eg. and i've an error of unsupported graphic card :S

  • Compatible video card upgrade for my ATI Radeon HD 5750 with 1GB of GDDR5 memory, iMac 27 " mid 2010 2.93 GHz

    My graphic card (ATI Radeon HD 5750) is completely taking a dive.   What I need to know is what I can upgrade this card with...  Can anyone give me some advice here?  If I am going to replace it, I may as well upgrade!
    Thanks for your help!!

    How is this problem resolved...I am having the EXACT same problem???

    Anyone else going GIS work on an iMac?

    That Radeon card is MORE than powerful enough for GIS.

  • How to install drivers for ati radeon 3200?and how to config xorg.co ?

    how to install drivers for ati radeon 3200?and how to config xorg.conf?

    mawch wrote:how to install drivers for ati radeon 3200?and how to config xorg.conf?
    Hello
    I am using ati hd 3200 which is integrated with my motherboard. If you are using arch you can download & install through pacman. The package is named like catalyst*. You can install them by issuing as root user
    #pacman -Sy
    #pacman -S -l | grep -i catalyst
    #pacman -S catalyst catalyst-utils
    After installation reboot your machine in runlevel 1. (single mode).  Ensure "fglrx" module is loaded correctly using
    #lsmod | grep -i fglrx
    If the resultant output have "fglrx" part  the module is loaded correctly. The next step is to create a working /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Backup your current xorg.conf if needed.
    #cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.bkup
    Then issue
    #aticonfig --initial --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf
    This will create a new xorg.conf file. Now we can test our confign.
    #telinit 3
    I am using runlevel 3 to avoid graphic messup!!
    issue
    #gdm
    If you graphical login screen works correctly there is nothing to do more except adjust your monitor resoloution as you like.
    To know your ati driver is working correctly issue as root
    #fgl_glxgears
    If gears are rolling happily it seems correct. You can also know more about installed ati driver
    #fglrxinfo
    Now the installed driver version is in the output
    If there is any problem try following
    ##### Soloutions to solve various display problems using ATI Catalyst Drivers in Linux #####
    yes video playback is choppy until i ran :-
    sudo aticonfig --overlay-type=Xv
    Try adding the following to the 'Device' section in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
    Option "TexturedVideo" "true"
    ### This is a half solution for mythtv problems. Run mythtv in window (no full screen) If You have a screen resolution of 1024x768 try the command;
    mythfrontend --geometry 800x600
    Append the "Device" Section of /etc/X11/xorg.conf file as follows;
    Section "Device"
    Identifier "Videocard0"
    Driver "fglrx"
    Option "OpenGLOverlay" "off"
    Option "VideoOverlay" "on"
    Option "TexturedVideo" "on"
    Option "TexturedVideoSync" "on"
    Option "Capabilities" "0x00000800"
    BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
    EndSection
    Add following in the .bashrc of each user or /etc/bashrc file* Most Effective In My Case!!
    export LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=true

  • IMAC i7 radeon hd 5750 update ati driver boot camp

    So basically I have a 2010 iMAC i7 with a radeon
    HD 5750 graphics card. Now to my question: I've recently installed win 7 proffesional
    Using bootcamp and would like to update the ati driver
    to which ever is most recent off AMD website, as I assume doing so
    may boost video performance in the games I'm currently playing, as opposed to the
    Outdated drivers installed via boot camp.
    I however am not sure if I need to uninstall the boot camP video drivers
    first, or how to go about doing so as I don't see any on list
    Of installed programs. I already know the iMac video card is REALLy Radeon Mobility 5850, not hd 5750
    as stated by apple, just need to know if I should uninstall my current video driver in windows 7 before trying to install the most recent mobility 5850 drivers from AmD site, if it's even worth it.

    How is this problem resolved...I am having the EXACT same problem???

  • Aperture 3, Snow Leopard, iMac ATI Radeon X1600 and graphics issues

    I have been searching the web to see if 10.6.4 has finally solved the graphics issues with the white iMac 2.16 intel with the ATI Radeon X1600 graphics processors and seen some mixed reviews. What is the consensus here, has 10.6.4 finally solved the graphics issues when editing photos in Aperture 3 (not to mention problems with iPhoto and iChat also). I had to downgrade to Leopard before so I don't want to upgrade to SL again and go back down the downgrade path. Thanks in advance for the feedback

    I can say that 10.6.4 has worked out the kinks for my white 24" iMac with 7300GT card. From what others have posted here, it appears the x1600 issues have been resolved as well. I was running 10.6.2 prior to this update and advising everyone else of same. Of course, 10.6.2 and SL was not perfect, with some issues cropping up here and there. IMHO the 10.6.4 release is equivalent to the 10.5.3 release by comparison. In fact, I upgraded my Mac mini after my good experiences with 10.6.4 on my iMac. Not sure if this helps or not.

  • Xorg: blank screen, mouse cursor only - ATI Radeon HD3450

    Last friday, my old Nvidia card died (overheated, I think). I got a replacement today: an ATI HD3450 card by Asus (R600 series). This is an old PC with an AGP slot, so my options were unfortunately limited. I was looking for a Nvidia replacement originally, to avoid having to reconfigure stuff, but that turned out to be too hard. So I got an ATI card instead. I regret this decision now... it works fine in console mode, but I can't get it to work in X.
    I've tried radeon and radeonhd drivers. I'm reluctant to try catalyst, seeing as they do not support the current kernel version (2.6.32) and I don't want to downgrade.
    radeonhd (xf86-video-radeonhd) is just a disaster. When I try to start X, all I see is a screen which is mostly black, except for a garbled band of about 1/4th the screen height, mostly white with some random colours thrown in.
    radeon (xf86-video-ati) doesn't work either. When X starts, all I see is the mouse cursor. And nothing else. Just a black screen with a mouse cursor. The funny thing is, it's all there, I just can't see it. When I tried "startxfce4", the cursor would change shapes when it was over window edges or text boxes. But they were invisible. Too bad.
    When I run "startx" as root, I see a couple of twm windows (the default configuration, I normally don't use X as root), and I can interact with them, but it's as if the screen isn't refreshed properly. When I move a window, it isn't redrawn, but it was definitely moved, because when I enter text in it, the text appears at the new position. The 'vesa' driver works, but I can't use that for obvious reasons.
    I have read the wiki article about ATI drivers and tried some of the things mentioned there (no xorg.conf, simple xorg.conf with some combinations of the sections mentioned, ...). I'm pretty sure the problem isn't KMS-related, because it's disabled by default with the 2.6.32 kernel.
    What pisses me off the most is that I get no error messages whatsoever, so I haven't a clue what could be the problem. I'm working on getting some Xorg.0.log output in this thread ASAP.
    Anybody have any idea what could cause this? I would really like to get this working soon. It would kinda suck if it turns out I've replaced an unusable graphics card with another unusable graphics card.
    If the radeonhd problem is easier to solve, then solutions for that are welcome as well. I just need a working driver that can handle compiz, and doesn't require me to downgrade my kernel.
    EDIT: Xorg.0.log contents, enjoy!

    "Enabling KMS will make Xorg fall back to software rasterizing, at the cost of 3D performance. " <- is this still true at the moment? In that case, enabling KMS really isn't the solution I'm looking for. Back to square one
    This is not true.  Software rasterization indicates that KMS was not set up correctly.  You will get 3D acceleration with KMS correctly configured.
    Thanks for taking the time to reply
    I'll give enabling KMS a try. What thread is it that you're talking about? Also should I follow the "early start" or "late start" instructions?
    EDIT: I'm guessing you mean this one? http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=613720
    That thread is the one I meant.
    Your xf86-video-ati doesn't have support for KMS - you have to rebuild it against libdrm_radeon. This also means that you have to rebuild mesa against same new libdrm because mesa doesn't have KMS support without libdrm_radeon either.
    Is this information applicable to my situation? No instructions on how to do this are provided, so I have no idea how to try it, or if it's worth trying at all.
    Yes, this is a problem.  You have to modify a PKGBUILD or two and build/install the packages in the correct order.  I detail the right way to do everything below.
    I used the following packages:
    * kernel26-git: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=25304 (you must configure with CONFIG_DRM_RADEON=m. CONFIG_DRM_RADEON_KMS=y enables KMS by default.  you should be presented with a configuration menu when the package builds.  type '/' to search.)
    * kernel26-firmware-git: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=25782
    * radeon_ucode: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=33016
    * libdrm-git: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=10254 (you must edit the PKGBUILD to enable radeon support, see below)
    * glproto-git: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=18964
    * dri2proto-git: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=19051
    * libgl-git: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=19044 (this is out of date and requires a patch.  see my comment on the AUR page)
    * mesa-git: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=8266 (you can reuse src/mesa from libgl-git, it clones the same repository)
    * xf86-video-ati-git: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=15374 (you can reuse src/mesa from libgl-git)
    libdrm-git PKGBUILD:
    sh autogen.sh --prefix=/usr \
    --enable-nouveau-experimental-api \
    --enable-udev || return 1
    # --enable-radeon-experimental-api
    libdrm-git PKGBUILD modified:
    sh autogen.sh --prefix=/usr \
    --enable-radeon-experimental-api \
    --enable-udev || return 1
    Install those packages in that order and add yourself to the video group.  Make sure that your grub configuration has an option to select the new kernel.  Also make sure all of your PKGBUILDs from AUR are up to date.  A week or two ago they were all wrong (as a noted above, one of them is still wrong and requires a patch).
    I hope that helps.  Eventually Arch will support KMS for radeon by default, but the driver and the kernel need to go through another release or two.

  • How can I update ati radeon hd 5750 1024 mb on my mac os lion 10.7.5

    How can I update my grafic card Ati Radeon 5750 1024 mb ? I recently updated my Aerofly 5 sim software , which now does not work because ,so I am told , the grafic card has to be updated ! Thanks for any help .

    You cannot change the graphics card, and Mac OS X 10.7.5 has the latest drivers available for your system. The system requirements for Aerofly state that they only support the 5770 of the 57xx series, not the 5750, so there may be nothing you can do, though you can ask in their forums and see if anyone there can offer a workaround.
    Regards.

  • IMac ATI Radeon HD Graphics Firmware Update 1.0.1

    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/imacatiradeonhdgraphicsfirmwareupdate101. html
    I have a 24inch imac with ATI Radeon HD 2600, ROM Revision: 113-B2250F-219.
    Upon trying to install the update, it says my computer doesn't need it, even though it looks like my rom is older than the version in the update (113-B2250L-259).

    according to ASP on my 20inch iMac Alum;
    ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT:
    Chipset Model: ATI,RadeonHD2400
    Type: Display
    Bus: PCIe
    PCIe Lane Width: x16
    VRAM (Total): 128 MB
    Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
    Device ID: 0x94c8
    Revision ID: 0x0000
    ROM Revision: 113-B2250A-207
    EFI Driver Version: 01.00.207
    And the installer does not continue at all but just say that I do not need the update...

  • ATI Radeon 7000 series and Photoshop CS5 and CS6

    Interesting to note, Running windows 7 64bit I have bought a new graphics card, it is an ATI Radeon HD7900 bought to run Photoshop CS5 and 6 unfortunately the graphics card is not displayed in the photoshop prefrences, I checked the list of cards supported by Adobe and the Radeon 7000 series was listed.....I rang Adobe who states that the HD7000 is not supported, so until (if ever ) it is I cannot use the full functionality of Photoshop CS5 extended. I'm not sure if all the Radeon HD cards are supported or not, but maybe check before you invest in a new card.

    The Radeon 7000 series cards should work fine with both CS5 and CS6, but as Steve noted there is a problem with the current drivers for the card.  Until the 12.7 driver is released next month, I'd suggest using the following driver:
    http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst126beta.aspx
    Use the control panel on your system to completely uninstall your current driver before installing the 12.6 beta driver.  Please let us know if the beta driver resolves the issues you're seeing.
    Thanks,
    Adam

  • ATI Radeon X1900 XT and Color

    Hi Guys,
    sorry to post this here but couldn't think where else to ask this. Looking at the recommended specs for the Final Cut Studio 2 and especially Color. The recommended card is the ATI Radeon X1900 XT, what is it about this card that Apple recomend it so highly?
    The reason I ask is because I've seen a great card that had 320GB VRAM but hope it works with color and motion 3
    What do you guys think?
    James
    Dual 2.3Ghz PowerMac G5, 1.5 Ghz Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    umm, i was advised while on a color demo pod at NAB with the writer of the product manual that the 1900 card is the sweet spot there. that's all the guidance i need. use what you want at your own risk.

  • ATI Radeon 9000 Pro and 1440x900 resolution on G4?

    I am looking to purchase a new widescreen monitor (Viewsonic VA1912WB) which supports a native resolution on 1440x900. I am trying to determine if the ATI Radeon 9000 Pro card will properly support this resolution. Anyone have a clue, or tried it yourselves? Thanks!

    I had found that page and had drawn the same "hopeful" conclusion that you are suggesting. I also looked in my displays preference pane and noticed quite a few options that aren't on the ATI site as "supported displays," which leads me to believe it's possible.
    I've checked out some other boards (pc based) and they are able to make it work but it involves modifying all sorts of driver files. Stupid PC's!
    Anyone else out there have the ATI card and the ability to test that resolution?

  • ATI Radeon 9600 XT and Nec Multisync 2690 Wuxi

    Hi there,
    I've just got myself a lovely new monitor, the 26" NEC Multisync mentioned above. Previously I had a 20" Formac monitor, and video played just fine. Now though I find most video - even cruddy low quality stuff on the web - plays in an exceptionally jerky way. Do I need a new graphics card, and if so which one? I've currently got an ATI Radeon 9600XT to go with my G5 PowerMac. I'm running 10.4.
    Thanks for your help,
    Jonathan

    one of the first things i would do is check for dust causing your card to overheat, Ive pulled a few and seen this poor fate for them .... there is also a software based tool ATIcellerator that can software over/under clock most ATI cards, i limped along for about a year on an underclocked card before breaking down and replacing it
