Mouse sticking

After installing Lion I am having trouble with my mouse sticking/freezing for a delayed period of a 5 seconds before responding...anyone else? How do I fix this? As a Graphic Designer this is making me crazy.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find nothing has changed after you complete it.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select “Help” from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal.
As Guest, launch some applications and test. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created as Guest will be deleted automatically when you log out.

  • Why is the mouse 'sticking' and it switches between windows?

    Hello,
    So this morning my mac has had a few issues, all within about a minute of each other:
    -mouse 'sticking', not totally frozen but isn't moving smoothly
    - will switch between open windows and even just fly over to the dashboard randomly
    -open random windows
             for ex. the little window that would open if I right clicked on something, (except I was just typing) and it's happened multiple times today, and never before.
    * I had Pages '09 and Safari open.
    * I've restarted my computer and only launched Safari  and the problem seems to have gone away, making me think there might be a corrupted file or something in Pages.
    Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
    Brandon

    The mouse (at least the Magic Mouse) sticking and flying are well known problems for which there seems to be no cure in sight. Just grit your teeth and try to think something complimentary about Apple.

  • Mouse sticks in corner

    Mac mini 1.83 has started to make the curser jittery, then after a minute or two it just goes to the lower left corner. I can move it out, but it just goes right back (after jittering around for a couple seconds). Then I must force quit to restart. After restart I may get a few minutes, but soon the problem comes back. Tried everything I know (zapped PRAM, repaired permissions, emptied trash, re-start, different apple mice, non-apple mice, different keyboards, all updates, no other peripherals attached, etc.). I have not tried disk repair or reloading the system (I would prefer not to do that yet, but I will if I have to).
    Curious, but at the same time this problem occurred, my Extensis suitcase (font management software) lost data regarding activated fonts (I went from having about 100 fonts available through Suitcase to about 25).
    Curious too is that at the exact same time I started having problems opening files and losing settings in Adobe Illustrator (CS2). I am suspect about running this older Adobe program on this machine - it's always been problematic with occasional freezes.
    I'm a 25 year Apple user and graphic designer. I use this equipment to make a living, and am usually good at figuring this stuff out. This one has me stumped. Any clues?

  • Magic mouse sticks as it tracks

    My Magic Mouse "sticks" as it tracks. As I roll from left to right, it will stop in the middle of the screen and will only move up and down in the same place.
    Anyone else have this problem?

    Yes, there is dust in there!±

  • Magic Mouse Sticks Constantly

    This problem is widespread and Apple is not addressing the issue anywhere I can see. I paid a lot of money to buy four Magic Mice in recent times and every single one of these displays this same issue; while they have always had “sticking” issues, a new wrinkle has been introduced, seemingly with the recent 10.8.4 updates to Mountain Lion, or perhaps with some other recent system update: The mouse cursor sticks in one spot and refuses to budge, it will only click and right-click in one place. It will randomly stop/start working constantly. I don’t know if it’s a Bluetooth connectivity option or something else.
    Can someone please explain? I’ve deleted mouse preferences, Bluetooth preferences, reset the PRAM, tried another boot disk (with a slightly older operating system). The only solution that consistently works is using another mouse (non-Bluetooth) entirely.
    Help! I truly use the advanced gestures in my daily life and it is a serious productivity issue to not have these features that I paid for!
    Mahalo.

    I'm having the same issue here and I think it's related to my wireless network. The lagging occurs only when the following are in place:
    A- Using the Airport Express in the Kitchen
    B- Using the Apple TV 2 in the living room (previously, on my 1st apple TV, synching was doing the same thing)
    C- Doing a back-up on my Time capsule
    D- Anything related to home sharing makes the MM lag
    One weird thing is that I'm also having the magic track pad and it's not as nearly as bad and it makes me wonder if the issue is the mouse bluetooth connection.
    One thing I've heard that may actually change that is to switch your network to 5Ghz band. My problem is that my wife use and old Macbook and my old iPhone 3 which doesn't work on a 5Ghz band.
    Someone else suggested the following but it didn't worked for me:
    1- hold down Shift-Control-Option, and press the power button ONCE. (don't start the computer, just quick press the power button).
    2- let go of keypresses and start computer again.
    if anyone has a solution to make my MM stop lagging, I would appreciate

  • Mouse Sticking after Mac on for a while

    Hi,
    My Mac keeps being silly: When my Mac has been on for a while the mouse starts sticking, i.e. when I move it in a steady straight line it will stay stationary for about half a second, then jump to where it "should" be. The keyboard suffers a similar delay when typing. It is not predictable, nor can I reproduce it reliably. It happens after lunch most days, and the only solution is to restart.
    It's a Logitech LX3 with no special drivers plugged into an apple aluminium keyboard. It also happens on the trackpad.
    So, does anyone have any ideas what could cause it? Does anyone have any tips for enabling logging or viewing the logs. I've looked around in Console and have found nothing relating to the mouse or general HID stack.
    Thank you in advance,
    Neil

    Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
    If you can't launch the application, log out or restart the computer and try again.
    Select All Processes from the View menu or the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
    Click the heading of the Process Name column in the process table to sort the entries by name. Make sure there's a column with the heading User. If there isn't, select
              View ▹ Columns ▹ User
    from the menu bar.
    Hide the Activity Monitor window (don't close it), go about your tasks as usual, and wait for the problem to come back. When it does, check the process list for two things:
    ☞ Multiple processes with the same name and the same user
    ☞ Processes shown in red with the words "Not responding" next to the name
    If you see such an entry in the list, double-click it. A small inspection window should open. At the top of that window is a field labeled Parent Process. Make a note of the name of the parent process.
    Quit Activity Monitor, and if necessary, log out or restart again. Post the names of the processes that met the above criteria, and the names of their parent processes.

  • Macbook Pro mouse sticking.

    Guys, is there a way to stop my MBP mouse from sticking? It is super annoying. Thanks!

    If you go to the Keyboard & Mouse System Preferences > Trackpad you'll see a "Ignore accidental trackpad input" (or something like) preference. I find that turning this off is better for me.

  • StartDrag has the mouse sticking

    I have a small project which allows the user to drag a
    selected response to a question to an answer box. The only problem
    is that the mouse sometimes sticks, or that it does not stopDrag
    when the user releases the mouse.
    I have tried many things to releave this but to no avail. The
    script is on a frame, and controls movie clips on the stage. Below
    is a sample for one of the clips. I must be overlooking something
    or is there someway to properly test this out and to have the mouse
    release properly.
    SCRIPT SAMPLE:
    move01.onPress = function() {
    this.swapDepths(1000);
    startDrag (this, true);
    move01.onRelease = function() {
    stopDrag();
    if (this._droptarget == "/tg01") {
    _root.rFLD="Please try again.";
    this._x = 229.7;
    this._y = 263.1;
    _global.shortAnswer = _global.shortAnswer+1;
    if (_global.shortAnswer == 2) {
    _root.rFLD="The correct answer is";
    _root.varAnswer=_global.realAnswer;;
    _global.shortAnswer= 0;
    play();
    this.swapDepths(this.depth);
    this._x = 229.7;
    this._y = 263.1;
    }

    You just need an onReleaseOutside in addition to the
    onRelease. Just set
    move01.onReleaseOutside to the same function as you have set
    the onRelease
    to.
    Also, just a FWIW, but you have:
    this.swapDepths(1000);
    startDrag (this, true);
    Why don't you stay consistent and say: this.startDrag(true);
    I think that reads better as well...

  • Magic mouse sticks/freezes

    Anyone else noticed a problem with the Magic Mouse in that it seems to get stuck for a few seconds at time?
    It'll work perfectly, then I can't move it left or right (only barely), you can click, it'll move up and down more than left or right but still not much, and then after about 10 seconds it'll work perfectly.
    If you pick the mouse up and bang it down very lightly it comes back to life too.
    Is it just mine?

    There are several of us that have been having similar problems with bluetooth mice on the mac for at least a year now. If you look under jumpy mouse or erratic mouse or selectively slow in the bluetooth forums you will see hundreds of us with similar problems.
    We have discovered that bluetooth mice seem to be selectively slow when downloading a large file or copying a large file or if a program is demanding significant resources. This slowness in slow motion looks like a jumpy mouse - no response and then an overly large response.
    I have posted a video of the problem on Youtube. You can read additional comments there.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBzisliiVpg
    My advice is to contact Apple Care and notify them of the problem. Don't be surprised if they claim not to know about it. This seems to be a common response. In addition, notify Apple by going to Apple.com/feedback and sending them an email. Eventually, Apple will figure out the source of this problem.
    Finally, the problems don't exist in Bootcamp - Bluetooth mice are perfectly smooth in Windows. The problem exists in OSX - Amazing!

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse sticks in dock

    On my own machine running 10.6.2 and a colleague's running 10.5.8. our wireless mighty mice have a tendency to stick when running over the dock. A click will clear the hang, but may unnecessarily open a file/application, as will command tab. But why is it happening? No common factors I am aware of, perhaps more prone during a Retrospect or Time Machine backup but not exclusively related to these times.

    The original must be busted. I have the new one and it works great!

  • HT203171 My mouse sticks and won't move on my iBook

    My mouse freezes up non my Mac iBook
    How do I fix this?

    You should take it in where you bought it and have them take a look at it.  If there is a problem with it, it's still under warranty and can be sent in for repair or replaced.

  • Mouse sticking to windows and dragging them around

    In the last week or so, my bluetooth mouse suddenly "attaches" itself to a window, or wherever it happens to be sitting at the moment. Then, if I attempt to move the mouse, it literally drags that window all over the place, refusing to let go. This began to occur after the firmware update. Each time it happens (usually after an hour or so of use, if that) I have no option but to use keyboard commands to restart the MacBook Pro.
    I've never encountered anything like this before. Oh. I also tested a different bluetooth mouse, with the same results, so I don't believe it's the mouse. System settings also appear okay.
    Ideas??

    Anybody? This is an odd one, for sure!

  • Delays and sticking mouse

    Since upgrading iTunes to 11.0.1 on my Mac mini running 10.6.8, the system is delayed on every action and the mouse sticks.  Any suggestions?

    Read this:
    http://blog.macsales.com/15990-shielding-resolves-usb-3-0-conflict-with-bluetoot h
    There appears to be a bluetooth module shielding issue with the late 2012 Mac Mini with USB 3 -- Intel has documented the interference problem.  It's driving me crazy.  I've ordered the $5.99 solution from otherworldcomputing.com, but it has not arrived....if you continue to have problems, look into this solution.
