Mouse trouble with Captivate

I would appreciate anyone's help with my question, and would
like to know if anyone else is experiencing the same problem. I
just finished a captivate project, and when I preview it, the mouse
does not appear. I have created about a dozen presentations thus
far, so I have a solid understanding of the in's and out's of
captivate. Under the standard slide layout, the mouse movement is
shown and all the mouse properties are correct, yet it still will
not appear once the project is previewed or published. Hopefully
this has happened to someone else, and there exists an easy fix.
Please let me know if you can help!

It appears Rick is not available right now so I'll see if I
can help. Can you tell us about the project? For instance, is it
possible you have placed images on your slides - instead of
background captures - that might be "covering" the mouse? If this
is the case, you can probably fix it by moving the mouse "above"
the images on the timeline.
I am certain this is a simple fix (aren't they all?) but if
that suggestion is "no joy", we might want to investigate the
possibility of sending (me) a few (5-10) slides of the project (the
CP file) so I can look it over in person.

  • Mouse troubles with iMac Summer 2000 DV with OS 9.1

    Hello all,
I have recently inherited an iMac as above, but am having trouble with it. I don't have a keyboard for it, but i do have an old school apple mouse for it. The mac starts fine, but when you are on the desktop you can move the mouse around, but you cant click on anything. Aside from this everything seems fine. I have been using macs for many years now, but am stuck as to what the problem could be. My only thought is that it might need a keyboard just to function.
if anyone could shed some light that would be amazing.
    many cheers

    Hi, mmemarc -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
Unlike earlier Macs (perhaps ADB-based ones, certainly the very early ones with phone-connector type keyboard cabling) which would not fully boot, if at all, if a mouse and keyboard were not present, the USB-based Macs will boot satisfactorily whether or not a keyboard and/or mouse is connected. This is in line with the hot-swap nature of USB.
Old mouses (old hardware of any kind) can be suspect. Unfortunately, in order to test that you will need to get a functional keyboard for the Mac in order to use startup commands.
You need not use an Apple-labelled keyboard; there are many 3rd-party keyboards which work well with Macs, even with OS 9. One company in particular, Macally, offers keyboards for Macs which are also compatible with Mac startup commands - and they are less expensive than Apple keyboards.

  • Trouble with captivate trial download for mac

im trying to download the trial version of captivate on my mac, the akamai netsession interface is now on my desktop, i go through installation, it makes that happy sound and says the installation was successful, but nothing actually happens, no new folders or documents, or applications, seems like sort of a dead end.
To investigate i clickedon Akamai in "other" of my system preferences is tells me the status is "forbidden" but I am the administrator and i have never used this free trial before, so why am I "forbidden?"
Here's part of the diagnostic if that helps:
This file was created on 2013-04-09 7:54:12 PM when a user initiated the "Generate Report" action in the Akamai NetSession Interface Control Panel or System Preferences. This is a report on the results of diagnostics tests concerning proper installation, connectivity, download and streaming capability.
This data is intended to be used by support and technical representatives as an aid in diagnosing problems using NetSession on this computer. Users seeking help with NetSession problems may be asked by those representatives to click the "Generate Report" button to create a current report.

  • Trouble with Captivate 4 and Windows 7

My office just migrated to Windows 7 (64 bit) and when I try to run Captivate 4 I get the attached error message and Captivate does not capture.  I logged in as administrator and I still cannot run the program successfully.  Any suggestions?

    Welcome to our community
Unfortunately Captivate 4 wasn't created with Windows 7 in mind. Some folks here claim to be able to use it quite successfully. I fall into the camp where it refused to work.
Sounds like you may be in this category too. Bummer that.
The only way I can coax Captivate 4 to work on my own Windows 7 (Ultimate-64 Bit version) was to install the Windows XP Mode Virtual Machine and install it there. But that also means I cannot capture outside of the VM. In order to capture anything in Windows 7, I had to acquire and install Captivate 5.

  • Trying to find replacement mouse/ trouble with existing mouse

The mouse that came with my HP bundle has finally decided to crap out on me. I will click something like a box that can be checkmarked and with one click it will check it and uncheck it. Also when using the calculator I could hit one digit and it will enter that # twice. So I'm thinking my mouse has about had it.
Not sure if much I can do to clean it. I'd like to stay away from compressed air. I tried using the vacuum to suck up some of the dust. But not sure how much that did, since I'm still having issues. Also tried sliding the sticky side of a post it note in the cracks to gather up some dust. Little results.
Onto the next thing on what replacement I found.
On the back I have found it be Model # N910U, but trying to search the HP site all I can find similar is this one, looks exactly like mine, but not finding it to be the same model #.

Is this the same item or what?

    mws1984,
Your mouse is a corded optical mouse, any such mouse mouse will work, including the one you linked.
PS> the shipping on that mouse is $10. It's such a trivial item, your local stores will have many selections.

  • I'm having trouble with Captivate CS4 the audio won't record (using Vista)

    Hello,
Please help!!!...I've tried the patches outlined in prior question/answers regarding audio recording problems by replacing the nsaudio.dll files as suggested at http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2009/03/audio_play_back_and_usb_mic_is.html
and used the SubInAcl Windows Registry Tool outlined at http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2009/03/adobe_captivate_4_installation.html
The issue seems to be resolved at first but inexplicably the audio recording stop working again.
I also noticed that I'm getting error messages regarding the following Captivate files.  NSAudio.dll , Ppsuplo.dll, avi2swf.dll, FullMotionrecorder.dll and WaveEditCtrl.ocx files
What can I do to resolve the recording problems that seem to plague Captivate CS4.   Does Adobe offer any updates to their software to resolve well documented bugs.
Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi there
Have you reported these to Adobe support?

The answer here is they certainly do. But updates are sometimes few and far between. And the likelihood of seein an update to address issues such as these is totally dependent on the number of reports Adobe receives about them.
If you haven't, please consider submitting a Bug Report. That will only help increase any chance of seeing an update to fix things.

  • Has anyone had trouble with the middle mouse (open in new tab) button lately?

Hi gang. Since v29 came out, I have been having trouble with the middle mouse (open in new tab) button.
Sometimes the button does not register with Firefox. And sometimes FF acts like I pressed it several times.
Has anyone else had any problems? I use an add-on called
    '''''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/mclickfocustab/?src=collection&collection_id=33bf10fa-666d-45a2-9bc9-491ce21671c6 MClickFocusTab]'''''
I disabled it but the problem was still there.

''''' "Sometimes the button does not register with Firefox. And sometimes FF acts like I pressed it several times." '''''
Sounds like a mouse on its' way to mouse-heaven. Seriously, the exact symptoms I have seen with a dozen 3 button mouse's (?meese - ?mice) over the last 15 years. <br />
Not registering a click is usually due to a dirty contact. And the "double-click" is when the flat spring looses tension and bounces.
I have had similar happen with the left button, too. But when it happens to that button it is more noticeable much sooner.
I bought a box of a dozen A4D house branded infrared wireless 3-button mouse's for like $24.00 back in 2000 that were on clearance because the driver disk didn't support W2K, only Win95, 98, and NT4. I got newer drivers from the A4D website and wore all 12 out over the 8 or 9 years. I even fixed a few that broke from the parts from other broken mouse's. I still have 6 or 7 of them laying in the "needs to be fixed" box under my workbench. I'll probably never fix them though, the nano receiver USB mouses I have been using for the 4 or 5 years have much better battery life and lately only need one AA battery.

  • Teething troubles with Using Adobe Captivate

Hello I have never used Adobe Captivate before, and would be grateful for some answers. I know people are very busy and may not want to deal with beginners but any comments suggestions partial tips will be gratefully appreciated
I am trying to do screen recording and run into difficulties.  I want to record a short (<10min) video of an instructive tutorial that plays on the internet. This tutorial has slides, and it is advanced by hand (manually) to the next slide
I was able to record video correctly, using the "Full Motion" mode. But when I use the other 2 available modes: I.e,Automatic, and Manual, I am not able to record. What happens it, I merely get a still picture upon playback, that runs as a video for 3 seconds. It turns out somewhere in "settings" there is a default which says slide length =3sec.  It looks like what I am getting recorded is a single slide, containing the very 1st scene.  What have I done wrong?
What I need to record are slides, some of which contain video and speech, some containing video but no speech, some are stills. In the Full Motion Mode
The video is being recorded split into many bits , and these bits (slides) are unequal in length, the first slide being of longest duration,  the last slide is of shortest  duration. Should they not equal in length? Also how to convert into "normal" formats like AVI? What kind of media player would play these presentations/slide shows when each slide is a short video? Further I do not hear any audio.
    Also what is panning
I am shunned because I am a woman and no one helps me with anything because I am supposed by a tacit rule to be with women ALL THE TIME and I am failing in what I am supposed to do. I have no means of using my brain or actively pursuing  science and technology, and others in it will not speak to me because of my defiance of that rule. I hope some MAN who doesn't mind will volunteer answers and I promise not to bother you again. I won't speak to you again, I wont come ont his site again, I have women's numbers.I wil be very grateful if you help me
    Thanking you,
    Yours SIncerely,
    Milliemachine3

Hi folks and welcome to our community Milliemachine3
All I can say is... wow! I'm not sure where you live, but it sounds sort of "stuck in time" if you are really made to feel like an outcast just because your body has different parts.
All that aside, I'll take a stab at answering your questions.
I was able to record video correctly, using the "Full Motion" mode. But when I use the other 2 available modes: I.e,Automatic, and Manual, I am not able to record. The only thing you have done wrong is to misunderstand how Captivate is used to record screen activity. How successful you will be will depend on the version of Captivate you have installed as well as what your operating system is. For example, if you have Windows 7 64 bit and you are trying to use Captivate 4 (or earlier) you will likely encounter problems. But if you were using Windows XP you would likely be fine.
You may also be misunderstanding exactly how Captivate records the screen.
What I need to record are slides, some of which contain video and speech, some containing video but no speech, some are stills. In the Full Motion Mode The video is being recorded split into many bits, and these bits (slides) are unequal in length, the first slide being of longest duration,  the last slide is of shortest  duration. Further I do not hear any audio.
I'm not sure I've ever seen ANY software that does a flawless job of recording screen video where you are playing a video clip. You have to understand that video is usually memory and processor intensive. Not only for recording it, but also for playing it back. If you can, you will likely achieve your best result by locating the actual source file for the video and using that with Captivate. However, this somewhat depends on your Captivate version.
    Also what is panning
Panning is a feature that allows you to record a smaller area of your screen. As you move the cursor around, the recording area is shifted to include parts of the screen that maybe weren't in the recording before. Maybe you are recording a 200x200 sized area. You are in the upper left corner of the screen performing some activity such as opening the File menu. But you move the mouse over to the right side to scroll the page. The recording would look as if you were peering through a small window and the larger area that was formerly hidden would appear in the window.
I am shunned because I am a *woman* and no one helps me with anything because I am supposed by a tacit rule to be with women ALL THE TIME and I am failing in what I am supposed to do. I have no means of using my brain or actively pursuing  science and technology, and others in it will not speak to me because of my defiance of that rule. I hope some MAN who doesn't mind will volunteer answers and I promise not to bother you again. I won't speak to you again, I wont come ont his site again, I have women's numbers.I wil be very grateful if you help me
Well, I sincerely wish you the best in your Captivate journeys. Hopefully it will comfort you to know that what you are experiencing isn't a universal rule. I think women and men are equals. And anyone that believes differently has a very stilted view of the world.

  • K9a2 platinum motherboard, trouble with mouse/updating bios.

Hello all, I have a MSI K9A2 Platinum mb, using vista 64 bit. I wanted to flash my bios, Pretty sure I have 1.4, wanted to try 1.8, or 1.9. When I go to download center will ask me where I want to download from, I click on U.S nothing happens, even tried the other countries nothing. Up top tab will say blank page and go back to download center. Reason I wanted to try and flash my bios to update it is. I have a USB razer lachesis which I have to unplug and plug back in several several times a day, Im having trouble with it lagging or stuttering. I have tried every driver update new and old and nothing works. I have unchecked enhance pointer precision, I have tried every usb port on my computer. Nothing. I have tried updating my video card, on board sound drivers, mouse drivers nothing. Im at a lost. I have no clue  on what else to try. Do you think updating my bios will work? Thank you all for reading this. Hope it makes sense)

Get another mouse. I bought a Razer Copperhead a few years ago, and had similar troubles on several different boards. I just use cheap generic mice again now, they just work.

I just use some leftover kensington notebook mouse (ci25m), even though its small it fits my fingers(not my palm, just my fingers ..because my hand/palm is huge lol) and it just works. The only time I bought a really spendy mouse (creative fatality) I only ever had problems with it.

  • Trouble with Mighty Mouse and iMac

Something weird happened today. I moved my iMac to my fiance's home carefully packing it up in the box it came in. After unpacking and setting it back up, I got these audio "bleeps"(the noise the the computer makes when you press a button that doesn't execute anything). Problem is, this happens even when I scroll around the display. I intially thought that something was wrong with the mouse (or else a key was depressed on my keyboard-which it wasn't), so I changed to another 3rd party mouse. No bleeps coming from the iMac. So just for curiousity, I plugged the mighty mouse into my Macbook. NO NOISE. Now I'm wondering what the heck is up? Why does my iMac react to my mouse this way while my Macbook has no issues? Why does the iMac work fine with a non-Apple USB mouse? The might mouse came with the iMac and is not the wireless one. it worked fine up until this afternoon.
    Any suggestions???

okay so I bought another MM at Best Buy. Brought it to my house and it worked fine with my Macbook. So i go to my fiance's house where I have set up my iMac 17". Lo and behold I STILL GET THE BLEEPS. What's more, the mouse makes a physical clicking noise- not through the computer but on the MM itself. ***??? So I start trouble shooting. I unplug all of my HDs and music peripherals. The MM still makes the clicking noise and keeps trying to execute things on the desktop even when I'm not pressing the front area. Then I get the idea to take the iMac downstairs as I recall that I used my initial MM on my Macbook in the kitchen and it worked fine. NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. So what in the **** is going on here? My MM is NOT wireless so why is it that ALL of the power outlets on the 2nd floor of my fiance's place screw with the MM?
Is there something on the iMac that I need to change in terms of power handling so it wont be so damned sensitive. mind you, this problem also occurs when using the MM and MAcbook upstairs. What gives???
I would really appreciate some clarification as to what this might be? RF noise?
I' come from many years of being a PC and chasing down problems but this has got me stumped!

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".

  • Trouble with my mouse

For some time now I have been having trouble with the original mouse that came with my Mac G5. I've had this computer about 3 1/2 years. The mouse freezes up and I have to unplug it from the back of the monitor and replug it in and then it will work. When this happens the red light on the underside is still on. But then sometimes it quits working and the light is out. Do I have to get a new mouse or is there someway to correct this problem?

The most likely problem is a short-circuit somewhere along the mouse cord. This problem often occurs at the point where the cord enters the mouse body. Repeated flexing at that point causes the wires to fray internally, eventually leading to a short. Since the short is intermittent, if you unplug it and reconnect, it may work fine for a while, until the cord is flexed in a certain way and the short occurs again.
If this is the problem and if you are handy with a soldering iron (and this is the old "Pro" mouse before the Mighty Mouse), there was a web page with instructions on opening up mouse, making the cord a bit shorter (removing the worn section), and reconnecting the wires internally. I actually fixed an older Apple optical mouse this way. I don't remember the exact guide I used, but this one has the same procedure.

Otherwise, you can get a good replacement non-Apple mouse for $15 or less. I personally like the basic two buttons plus scroll-wheel optical mice made by Microsoft. They work fine with Apple's built-in USB mouse driver, so you don't need to install Microsoft's software. I currently use this one

  • K9A2 Platinum trouble with mouse.

Hello all, Im having trouble with my K9A2 Platinum and my Razerr Lachesis usb plug in mouse. I have to unplug and plug my mouse in several times a day due to my mouse curser jumping all over the place. I have downloaded the 1.94 razer firmware and still does not work. At first I thought this was a Razer issue, Now I know its a msi issue. I know several people who have the K9A2 and have the same trouble with there mouse. The mice they have are all random and not just razers, different products. I have tried every driver. Old drivers, new drivers, different combinations of drivers and nothing works. Have tried plugging to the back of my Razer tarantule. Have tried different usb ports, nothing. Will take all the help I can get please. I have googled this and have tried everything. To the point if I have to get a new motherboard, trust me it will not be a MSI one. I have spent a lot of money building this rig. Any advise please. Thank you all for reading.

Enter SafeMode and DeviceManager. What relevant mouse(s) and possibly HID-devices do you find?
The skipping mouse can come from an auto-starting program or virus. That is something that would not be seen in SafeMode, too.

  • Bluetooth Trouble With Mouse and Keyboard

Symptoms of problem: Message indicating that mouse is not connected. Mouse becomes inoperable.
    Related clues:
After selecting "Browse Device" from the Menu Bar, Bluetooth icon, drop-down menu, the mouse is listed in the Browse Device window...the keyboard is not listed. The message "Searching for Devices - 0 Found", followed by "Found - 0 Devices" appears every few seconds.
When the Bluetooth icon in the System Preferences is selected, both the mouse and the keyboard are shown to be - On, Discoverable, Paired, and Connected.
There would seen to be nothing interfering with the signal, although I did enable a new 1.9 GHz wireless phone system just prior to experiencing the Mouse trouble.
    ???

So the first thing that I would do is disable the phone system and see if the issue goes away. If it does you most likely have your answer to the cause. However, BT is supposed to be confined to the license-free ISM band at 2.402-2.480 GHz which would seem to be well away from the phone's frequency.
