Mouse Wheel Function

I have two workstations in different offices which both have the same Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit image without any settings changes between the two. The only difference is that one has Acrobat Pro 9 and the other has Acrobat Pro 10. The application on both have the Page Display options set as follows: Page Layout - Single Page. Zoom - Fit Page.
On the workstation with 9, the mouse wheel scrolls an entire page with a single movement of the wheel. On the workstation with 10, the mouse wheel scrolls within the page just a tiny bit.
How can I get 10 to scroll an entire page with one movement of the wheel?

I'm not sure if I changed any settings, but I did install the latest patch and the mouse wheel is working the way I prefer now.

  • PS2 mouse loosing wheel function when switching with KVM

    Hello everyone,
    I've used the last couple of days struggling with a problem with my arch linux where my mouse won't use the scroll wheel after switching my KVM. From a search here on the forum I deduced that I'm not the only one with that particular problem. Unfortunately noone seems to have found a solution. (None that I could find...)
    What I have tried is:
    * Change the mouse protocol in my xorg.conf file : auto, IMPS/2 and ExplorerPS/2 are the one's I could think of. Actually ExplorerPS/2 is the one used in my kubuntu setup, and there it works just fine!?
    * Used xev to see if my wheel is triggering any response : Well, it doesn't.
    * Compared the udev rules in my kubuntu setup to them in arch :  I don't truly understand the rules, so I'm not sure if there is something to be gained from this. There are a lot more rules files in kubuntu.
    * Run "cat /proc/bus/input/devices" : The list of devices contains two references to mice.
    Mouse0 is "Macintosh mouse button emulation"
    Mouse1 is "PS2++ Logitech TrackMan" (my mouse)
    I'm also a bit unsure what to do with this info, but it seems the wrong mouse is recognized. Is there a way to force X to use mouse1?
    Thanks for taking the time to read my post. And if you have any ideas to what I can try, don't hesitate to write. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    If a copy of some of my config files are needed, just let me know.

    Actually it happens when I switch between arch and any of my other computers connected to the kvm. (windows and kubuntu)

    I noticed something today. When I lose the function of my mouse wheel, the wheel on my keyboard works instead? Don't know if that could be helpful in finding a solution.

  • Safari and Mouse-wheel "click" function.

    Hi.
    I have this problem when i click on my mouse-wheel i can't fast scroll like i can in Internet Explorer.
    Is there any setting for this or something?
    I'll explain what i mean if you have problems understanding exactly where i'm going with this.
    In Internet Explorer i always "click" on my mouse-wheel button to enable a faster way of scrolling up/down websites by just dragging the mouse up/down.
    In Safari this option doesn't seem to exist.
    Please help.

    Hi Kenny79 and welcome to the Apple discussions forums!
    Well the answer is unfortunately NO, their are no settings you can change, and this feature is NOT included in Safari for Windows as of now anyway.
    Though, I can add that i miss that feature too !-).
    Cheers, J~G

  • All-in-One Qosmio PX30t - Mouse wheel application interruptions

    hello there ...
    for some reason my mouse wheel has been configured to switch to the start page (tiles).
    I find this convenient while operating the desktop activities but during other applications its a bit irritating. Here are examples of what i mean:
    1. in google's chrome, i use the wheel extensively to open a new tab. now with 8.1 i cant as the wheel action takes me to start page (tiles)
    2. im playing Fable and the block action is set to the mouse wheel (make sense as its the most convenient for such task) but with the defaulted switching behavior .. every time i try to block ..im outta the game to the start page (tiles). I know i could avert this by re-configuring the action to a different button or key, but why not have it as is????
    im not sure of these applications to be the only ones as its my first 8.1 use!
    thanks.

    I'm inclined to agree. At first I thought Toshiba had simply remapped the Middle Mouse Button to bring up the start menu for whatever reason, but from what I can tell the PC actually registers the MMB as the Left Windows Key! Why anyone would think this was a good design idea I have no idea. For me it's just frustrating....
    Anyway, I've so far found 2 ways around this:
    First; using any other mouse, the MMB functions normally. So you could plug a regular USB or wireless mouse in and presto! Problem solved.
    +Of course this is FAR less than ideal. One of the reasons I bought an all in one was for the clean look with matching keyboard and mouse. I don't want to give up a USB port when it already comes with the peripherals built in.+
    The second option (The one I'm currently using) is to use key remapping software. I've remapped the Left Window Key to act as the Middle Mouse Button. Now my mouse functions normally.
    +The problem with this solution is that the Windows Key on the keyboard now also works like a MMB. I remapped the "drop down menu" key to act as the LWIN key to compensate, but this solution is also far from ideal.+
    I think Toshiba should release a firmware (or software??) update that either fixes this issue properly, or at least gives users the option to use the MMB as a MMB.

  • Mouse Wheel  under Windows XP Does not work- 9.0.3

    I use Windows XP and JDeveloper9.02 handled mouse wheel scrolling reasonably well(help files could not be scrolled). I can not use the mouse wheel in the Jdeveloper9.03 editor or the help files. Am I missing something? I thought JDeveloper9.03 added mouse wheel capability as its new release feature.
    I know user's of windows 98 had problem with mouse wheel. However, migrating to JDeveloper9.03 seems to have fixed the mouse wheel problem for Windows98 users and made it a problem for WindowsXP users!

    I work with Ramin. Both he and I just unzipped JDev903 to a new folder (C:\Program Files\OracleJDeveloper903). There was no mention in the readme file about having to uninstall the prior version, and since it didn't have a Windows installer (the files are merely unzipped), we didn't think that it mattered that another version was on disk. He was running only the 903 version -- the 902 version was simply on the disk just like dozens of other programs are on the disk. I don't believe he rebooted after exiting 902 and unzipping 903, if that matters. So I think what he did was
    1) run 902
    2) quit 902
    3) unzip 903 to new folder
    4) run 903 and notice mouse doesn't work
    Questions: Do you recommend getting rid of 902 totally off your disk? If not, do you recommend installing it to the same folder or a different folder? What about rebooting in-between running/quitting 902 and running 903?
    (FYI: By the way, I unzipped it and then tried to open up one of my existing workspaces. I found I couldn't browse up the the root folder. It said "I/O Error: The dir c:\ is not accessible. Please select a different directory." It had me in the c:\Program Files\OracleJDeveloper903 folder and I wanted to go to c:\My Documents. I couldn't browse there because I needed to pass through the root to get there. The workaround was to type in c:\My Documents into the File field. However I'm using Win98 but I plan on going to Win2000. Perhaps that will fix the root problem. My mouse works now in win98 but I hope I don't lose that functionality when I go to 2000.)

  • Mouse wheel scroll question

    Hello to all, i want to make the following question:
    I have a canvas which has a vertical scroll bar, inside this
    canvas there is a textarea control which has a vertical scroll bar
    too. That i want to make is:
    when the user put the mouse cursor on to the textarea and use
    the mouse wheel i want to make scrolling the canvas and not the
    textarea.
    any help will be appreciated.
    thanks in advance

    Thanks for the replies. The solution to my question is this:
    package
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    import mx.controls.TextArea;
    public class newTextArea extends TextArea
    public function newTextArea()
    super();
    override protected function createChildren():void
    super.createChildren();
    textField.mouseWheelEnabled = false;
    private var scrollAnterior:Number=-1;
    private var direccionScroll:Number=0;
    override protected function
    mouseWheelHandler(event:MouseEvent):void
    var dirScroll:int = event.delta <= 0 ? 1 : -1;
    if (verticalScrollPosition==scrollAnterior &&
    direccionScroll==dirScroll)
    return;
    scrollAnterior=verticalScrollPosition;
    direccionScroll=dirScroll;
    super.mouseWheelHandler(event);
    it works fine, but now i want to make the same with the
    canvas, but seems is not possible override mouseWheelHandler event
    in it. Any help or suggestion ?
    Thanks in advance

  • Can I get my mouse wheel to scroll page up/down instead of a couples lines?

    In Windows, there was an option to have the mouse wheel scroll in page increments. I think this is much better ergonomically (less scrolling). Is there a way to do this on the Mac?

    hey Lodinick,
    I'm actually trying to get my mouse to do what you're complaining about. My search led me to your post, LOL.
    I have a programmable logitech and I can't seem to find an option to assign the scroll functionality. I can change what happens when I click the scroll wheel, but not what happens when I scroll it up or down.
    To help you:
    1. If you have a programmable mouse, try digging in the software for that mouse.
    2. If not try looking in Windows mouse settings.
    If I find how to make it work on my mouse I'll try to remember and come tell you how to undo it.

  • Use Mouse Wheel in man/less

    I can scroll with the mouse wheel in xterm when I use standard command output and whatnot, but I can't figure out how to scroll through man pages with the scroll wheel.  Thoughts?
    Last edited by MarCustomized (2008-11-06 03:43:58)

    I just spent 20 minutes digging in the manuals for urxvt and lesskey because I realized I'd also like something like this. The bad news it, it isn't going to (easily) happen without patching less (or simply using another pager; most and mcview are good). The rest of this post is technical detail you probably don't need unless you're more persistent than I am.
    Xterm-compatible terminals don't send mouse events by default. That can be worked around by sending the appropriate control sequences ('\e[?9h' and '\e[?9l') before and after (respectively) running less. A quick shell function could automate this. The larger problem is that there's no way to get just the button pressed: it also sends the coordinates of the pointer at the time of the click. You can tell less to scroll based on events by entering the appropriate sequences in your ~/.lesskey file and running lesskey (see `man lesskey`). As these sequences include the coordinates, you would need to have a line for every permutation. Without poking around the source I don't even know if less can handle that many bindings.

  • HSlider and mouse wheel

    I'm using Flex 4 and I've noticed something annoying with the spark HSlider: if I click the slider, it seems to retain focus so that even if the mouse is not over it, moving the mouse wheel up or down still causes the slider to move left or right.
    I'd actually prefer that my slider not respond to mouse wheel events at all, but preventDefault() doesn't seem to work in this case. How can I get an HSlider to ignore mouse wheel events???
    Thanks,
    Rob

    Sublcass HSlider and include this code
    override protected function system_mouseWheelHandler(event:MouseEvent):void
                // DO NOT DELETE THIS FUNCTION
                // leave blank to remove wheel scrolling on sliders

  • Using mouse wheel to zoom and pan

    I was wondering if there would be a way to make a javascript that would load at Photoshop's startup that would allow the user to zoom in and out using the mouse wheel (instead of using it for scrolling), and to use that same mouse wheel as a third button (when you push on the mouse wheel) or any third button on a three button mouse to pan in your image. I'm a 3ds max user and I love the way the navigation work in that software so it'd be great to be able to do that for Photoshop and Illustrator and get rid of those useless key shortcuts that we need to use to zoom and pan.
    For the pan fonction, I guess if there was a way to simply say "when the third mouse button is pressed, press the space button, until the mouse button is released" it could work. But then it would force the panning to stop when the mouse goes offscreen, unlike in 3ds max where you can pan for whatever distance you want, even if you have the loop throught the screen ten times.
    For the zoom function, if scolling up could simply "push" the keyboard shortcuts to zoom in/ zoom out it could work, but I don't know if that's possible. And then we'd have to disable the scrolling up and down in the document.
    Anyways, if anyone has any ideas about that let me know! I've been looking for that for such a long time!

    Not sure if I am misreading your post, but there is an option in the preferences that allows you to choose Zoom With Scroll Wheel. With this option active you hold the ALT key to scroll.
    My Logitech mouse has a tilt wheel on it and this works fine in Photoshop. It doesn't loop through the screen but it does pan left and right with no problem. On this mouse the scroll wheel can also be pressed, and can be programmed to almost any key, I use for double click.
    Forgive me if I've misunderstood your question.

  • Scrolling mouse wheel

    Hi,
    Does anyone know how to make a movieclip scroll with the
    mouse wheel with a slowdown (makes the movie clip look like its
    slowing down) function so that with one scroll of the wheel the
    movie clip will move down then slow down and with another scroll it
    will go down further etc...? I can get the scroll wheel working
    with the slowdown function but what im finding is flash wont
    recognise the mouse wheel after one 'turn' of the mouse wheel. In
    other words i can scroll once and no more.
    I have attached the code. The code is all on one frame in the
    _root timeline and 'panel' is the movieclip to be scrolled...
    Any help would be great....

    thanks _name for your help, although i didnt have any luck
    with doing it that way. I have made a bit of progress though, i can
    get the mouse to scroll the movieclip (panel) in one direction with
    a friction function attached so once scrolled it goes from faster
    to slow to stop, the main problem is i cant get it to do the same
    thing when scrolled in the opposite direction (i have put a
    function in there to act as a 'stopper' to stop the scroll. Anyone
    have any ideas about this?
    cheers for any advice offered...

  • Illustrator CS4 Mouse Wheel Enable

    I'm using Illustrator CS4 - Windows and I'm not able to scroll up and down using the mouse wheel nor can I scroll side to side using the mouse wheel with the ctrl-spacebar.  I'm looking for how to enable this function within Illustrator, but am unable to find it.  Any suggestions?

    No, this stuff is hard-coded and there is no way to enforce anything. If your mouse doesn't behave like a bog-standard Windows mouse, then AI can't use any fancy features. Vertical scrolling is supported everywhere, though, just not horizontal scrolling.

  • Issue with Adobe Muse parallax jitters with mouse wheel scrolling vertically.

    Hi all,
    I'm learning Adobe Muse for the first time to put together a wedding website (http://mattandsangeeta.businesscatalyst.com/index.html), so bear with me as I'm a novice at the software - though I do have the most up version, Adobe Muse CC 2014.
    So far, it's been an excellent platform, and for the most part the site functions incredibly well. However, one key flaw I've noticed in it is the parallax scrolling speed when using a mouse.
    The parallax portion of the site jitters badly, and while we've found a few improvements for the issue (the best was making sure there was nothing that had scrolling set to "0"), I'm still at a loss for how to get smooth scrolling transition speeds. Every forum Adobe has seems to be showcasing the features, and not troubleshooting this particular issue. A lot of posts are similar, but none seem to be resolved. I've noticed that other parallax pages are smoother with the mouse wheel scrolling down, so I'm hoping it's just an issue with Muse that has a setting or snippet of code that can remedy the issue.
    What makes me realize it's the mouse wheel scrolling, and not the site itself, is because whenever I access the site on my surface pro tablet, the parallax runs buttery smooth with touch control or even trackpad control. Same when you click the middle scroll button and pan down. Without any mouse wheel scrolling, it looks great! But with a mouse wheel, it hiccups constantly and ruins the effect.
    So, is there any way to smooth out the steps that the mouse wheel scrolling seems to be causing?
    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

    Thanks for the link, however that specific thread was one of the ones I referenced in my original post.
    In the beginning of the thread, it's clear that coding can fix the issue, though it's not recommended. More telling is that the response you referenced indicates that the issue is claimed to have been either fixed or mitigated In updated releases of Muse.
    As you pointed out earlier, however, Firefox displays the parallax a little better than Chrome, and much better than Internet Explorer. I'm assuming that Adobe Muse Creative Cloud 2014 release attempted to this issue.
    So my question kind of remains: am I missing a setting that would make the scrolling more smooth, or is it simply just a limitation of the browser / software / parallax combination?
    Thanks again for the responses.

  • Mouse scroll functionality in forms

    Can i have mouse scroll functionality in forms , from the mouse wheel ?

    Richard,
    I tried FreeWheel on a running form, with interesting results.
    If I have a form with only one scrolling block, the mousewheel scrolls the block nicely.
    But if I have several scrolling blocks on the form, it always scrolls in the LAST block, no matter where the cursor is. ...makes sense, though --it has no way of knowing which scrollbar in the Forms window to activate.
