Mouse x4000b

I just purchased a new HP Bluetooth Mouse X4000b, but cannot get it to talk to my MacBook Pro (running OSX 10.6.8 "Snow Leopard"). The "manual" for this hardware is one of the skimpiest and most inadequate I've ever seen; the online guides aren't much better. I've turned on the mouse, and see the blue LED light up, so I presume the included battery works. However, the Bluetooth Setup Assistant and all the other Bluetooth software I can find in my system does not detect the mouse, or any other device, and advises only "make sure it is powered on and 'discoverable.'" How to I tell the Mouse X4000b to make itself "discoverable"? Thanks in advance for all suggestions & comments!

  • Problems with HP Bluetooth Mouse x4000b with HP Elitebook laptop

Hi - I bought an HP EliteBook laptop earlier this year and a few months ago purchased a HP Bluetooth Mouse x4000b (after losing a different mouse during travel).  I've had terrible problems, almost since the beginning, with the mouse just not working.  Sometimes it works if I switch the batteries (flip the positions of the existing ones) but that tends to last only for a short time.  I replaced the originally batteries (which were supposedly good for 9 months) after just 3 months; and have just replaced the replacements and the problem is still unsolved.  I've checked the drivers; I can't find a power setting for Bluetooth on my HP laptop (someone with a Dell had that).  I've turned the mouse off, rebooted, turned the mouse on and reconnected; I've tried turning the mouse off and on again; I've tried to ensure that the batteries are in snugly with the plastic piece that sits over that batteries inserted as far back into the body of the mouse as possible (replicating the setup that I found when I first opened the mouse up to deal with this problem).  Any suggestions?  Or can anyone suggest a better mouse?

    Hello ayd135,
It is helpful if you would post the full model number of your Elitebook please.
Read through this HP Bluetooth manual to see how to use the HP Wireless assistant to help troubleshoot issues.
    http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c01948661
Read through the info above first and try the steps.
If this still does not solve the problem, then it sounds like you have a faulty mouse considering the battery issue you described. In which case, the only fix would be to replace the mouse.
    Pundravac,
Even though you have an Elitebook also, your's could be a completely different issue. Did you install all the latest drivers for your old XP machine after installing Windows 7 on it?
Please post your question in a new thread and post the full model number of that laptop also.
    Thank you.

  • HP Bluetooth Mouse x4000b

I was told this mouse could be used for left handed or right handed users. Currently this mouse is set for left hand people... I am a right hand user. How do I change it? The manual that came with the mouse tells you little..

  • HP Split 13T-m110dx x2 + BT k4000 Keyboard + BT x4000b Mouse

The keyboard/dock of my HP Split 13T-m110dx is on the fritz and passed it's warranty expiration date. Since the touch screen and tablet portion still works I think "No problem. I'll just buy a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard until I can suss out what the deal is with the dock."
I pick up HP products just to bolster compatibility. The mouse (x4000b) seems to do just fine, but the keyboard (k4000) seems to want to input strings like TTTTTTTTTHHHHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS with every keystroke making it pretty much unusable.
As far as I know I have all the correct (and up to date) drivers and such.  Are there any known problems or incompatibilities with this combination of products? If not, any suggestions?
    Thanks!

you sent me a Bluetooth Mouse x4000b. Although my PC does not have an internal bluetooth radio, I did have a USB bluetooth device.
I'm satisfied. This mouse works well. It's just was not what I was expecting.
    Thanks,
    Pete

ok as I continue working with this mouse.. let me just say.. people: if you haven't used a mouse with laser tracking yet with logic, seriously, try one. the precision and accuracy of these things is alarmingly good. it's one of those didn't even know there was a problem till you tried it kind of things..
unless you are one of those people who has managed to train your brain to use a trackball or whatever, seriously, try out a mouse with laser tracking. night and day.
there are some logitechs that have it, and also the wireless mighty mouse, not the other mighty mice. that is such a stupid name.

  • HP Bluetooth X4000b Mouse Unstable

After upgrading to Mavericks from Lion, my HP Bluetooth X4000b Mouse has become unstable.  It just begins to wander around and does not track the actual physical movement of the mouse.  I have removed the mouse from the bluetooth and then used the Bluetooth Setup Wizard to pair the Mouse again.  The same problem exists.  Does anyone have suggestions for how I might correct this problem?  Thanks in advance for your help.

I got the HP mouse today, it looks very sleek and seems to connect effortlessly in Leopard and Tiger, has a good amount of hand support too. The only immediate concern is that the tracking speed seems to go from average to WOAH THERE!!! with little in between (like the shower that only has two settings - freezing cold or scolding hot). The tracking is very fine though so I guess smaller more refined movements may be in order. Haven't found how to make the scroll wheel sideways button action work yet, but at least I have a scroll wheel again.
I got this mainly for Windows gaming on the MacBook so the Windows drivers are probably much better and more refined for that purpose.

  • X4000b bluetooth mouse

Using a Linux box, Fedora 20.
The mouse connected easily first time setup.
A new laptop in the house, Windows, again the device paired and worked well.
Take the device back to the Linux box and it resuses to connect.
Removed batteries, left for ten minutes. Still wouldn't connect.
It shows as paired, yet won't connect.
How to 'reset' it please? Anyone

I am trying to use a HP x4000b on a HP G72 Laptop and have the same problems. After I bought it I found out that my laptop doesn't support Bluetooth, so I had to buy a USB Dongle. I got it to work a few times, but as soon as I shut down it wouldn't reconnect. When I go through all the suggestions it says everything is working fine, but it's not. I sure hope we get an answer from someone who knows what's going on.

  • HP X4000b Bluetooth Mouse (H3T50AA) stops working if not moved for a while, then computer crashes

I will be very happy if someone answers this, 'cos from all the other related posts, my outlook is pretty bleak. At least give me the thumbs up for trying, or a little human contact. Proof this post existed.
Alright, I (fairly) recently updated to windows 8.1on my Samsung quad-core notebook - Model is NP905S3G
For the full info- see the picture.
Anyway, the problem is, that ever since I installed Windows 8.1, if I don't move the mouse for around 1minute when it is on (i.e. I just leave it still for 1 min because I'm typing stuff), it stops working. Moving the mouse simply doesn't do anything. If I look on the 'devices' screen, it is still shown as connected, and I can try re-connecting it, but it doesn't work. Turning on and off doesn't work. Pressing that little blue 'connect' button doesn't seem to do anything normally, and in this case, does nothing. Un-installing and re-installing the mouse does not permanently solve the problem (but does restore connectivity, at least until I leave the mouse idle for too long again)
Currently, once the mouse has stopped moving on the screen, I press the power button (which for me makes my computer sleep). When I do this 1 of 2 things happen; either it goes to sleep as instructed, or it stays on indefinitely, and I have to hold the power button for 5 seconds to do an emergency shut-down. This is a pain, especially since nothing is saved, and the computer takes extra-long to turn on the next time.
The real problem is this: about five minutes after the mouse becomes unresponsive, the computer crashes. It is during this five minute period that I can save all my stuff, but if I have been typing non-stop, I may not even notice that the mouse has stopped moving, and so the computer often crashes at unpredictable times. This of course is a major annoyance, and what’s more, sometimes just when I click a link my mouse freezes, and I have to restart my computer or let it crash.
The crash message is DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE, and comes on a blue screen with a message saying the computer is collecting some error info, and a silly little smiley face. I have come to hate that smiley face.
If you’ve read this far, thank you very much, PLEASE FIND A SOLUTION, MY MOUSE IS PRETTY UNUSABLE AT THE MOMENT
PS. When I feel it is too risky to use a mouse, I use the touchpad. The setting where tapping=clicking really annoys me, and I also don’t like the inverted scrolling. I change these settings on my preferences, but for some reason they are never saved once I turn my computer on. They used to be saved before updating from Windows 8 to 8.1. Any suggestions?

Not actually solved. The problem still happens and isn't limited to me or my headset.
I just want this question out of my sidebar and this is the only way to do that!

    Hello there
My new Bluetooth Mouse constantly looses connection to my Asus Transformer Windows TabletPC. So the mouse Pointer stops moving and can be moved again after 20 seconds or so. Any suggestions on how to solve this?

Try resetting the PRAM and SMC.

  • X4000b won't connect

Have an HP X4000b mouse on Lenovo Y510P Windows 8.1 laptop.
Mouse will connect and pair one time.
Once I turn the system off, the next time I use the system, the mouse is reported as connected,
however the mouse doesn't work. I have to uninstall the mouse, then the mouse is found, installed, and paired.
Works fine, but I have to go through this every single time I get back to working on the system.
Has anyone seen this? Any recommendations?
    TIA.

    Hi,
Please don't ask me why, turn the mosue ON first then turn the laptop. I have to do this for my Microsoft Surface RT too. Could be Windows 8.1 bug.

  • Mid 2010 no USB Mouse or keyboard power? HELP!!

I bought a mid 2010 Mac Pro 2.8ghz Nahalem from the apple store over 1 month ago. After two weeks I had a five minute issue where after I rebooted, the mouse & keyboard would not respond. One quick reboot, the mouse and keyboard had power. Now I have a TV show I have to get to the station for tomorrow and I"m having this issue again and I've rebooted five times with no luck. I"m desperate here and I need to get this working. I did buy some new RAM from the Apple store, 4GB DDR3 PC3 240 pin 512MX72-8500 ECC. I put it in with the other three 1 gig sticks for 7gigs of RAM. Rebooted, no keyboard or mouse power. shut down, re-arranged the sticks in various configurations and even went back to just the three 1 gig sticks and again, the computer will boot up, get to the login window, but no power to the keyboard or my wireless mouse or should I say not responding and no caps lock light at all. Can I not have this RAM configuration and it blew something out? The bluetooth mouse battery was changed and I checked my keyboard which has a wired connection. It is fine. I even moved it to other USB slots. No go. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a PMU reset switch on these new mac models? I've been editing forever on a dual 1.6gh PowerMac with no problems. Rock solid. Now I'm on this Nahalem and this no keyboard or wireless mouse communication is killing me with this deadline. I NEED HELP!!!

After installing Windows 7 did you also install the Chipset Driver, Intel ME Driver, Keyboard and Mouse Driver and the USB 3 Driver?  If you didn't then that would account for the various hardware items not being recognized.  Always install the Intel Drivers first and then the rest.

  • Problem with xfce and/or mouse and keyboard

    Hi!
Two days ago I've turned on my laptop with Arch and the display manager Slim has frozen immediately. Later on Single-User mode I've uninstalled it. Now in normal mode when I type "startxfce4" everything is showing up, but the mouse and keyboard don't work. I know it's not frozen, because animation of mouse and CPU Frequency Monitor is on.
Strange fact is that laptop is not connecting with the Internet, so now I don't know where the problem is.
It's happening when I start xfce both from user and super user.
Just before those troubles I've updated everything with "pacman -Syu", but I haven't seen anything strange. Also the computer could have been roughly turned off (by unplugging power supply), when was turning on.
    Thanks,
    Gaba

Sorry for not replying, but I didn't have access to my laptop by this time.
On grub I have only normal mode and 'fallback' mode, so I have result from 'journalctl' from normal mode.
I'm sending the fragment of this file where you can see everything after I typed 'startxfce4' in console:
    http://codepad.org/8pYIj8qC
I see that something is wrong, but after some attempts I don't know how to fix this ^^
    Edit:
Oh, I forgot to write, that I've tried activate some drivers from 'lspci -k' (there were no "Kernel driver in use:..." in almost every device), but it didn't fi anything.

  • New Install - startx results in blank screen with mouse cursor

I installed Arch on my desktop last week with no issues, so I wanted to install it on an old THinkpad R31. Everything with the installation went smooth, but when I try to 'startx' all I get is a blank screen with a mouse cursor that I can move around. I've installed xorg-xinit, xorg-twm, xorg-xclock, and xterm.
I'm not getting any significant errors in the logs, or even the terminal I issue 'startx' in.
I'm not sure what the problem could be...
Here is my output from 'startx'

To run twm, you need to install xorg-twm from [extra] (I am not sure if it installs by default). Do you have xterm installed?
According to his first post he has both xorg-twm and xterm installed.
    I do indeed.
I went ahead and installed LXDE anyways, just to see what would happen. Exact same thing, it looks like everything is about to load but only the mouse cursor shows up. My Xorg.0.log is the same, so I won't post it again.
I do get an error in the console about the openbox menu.xml file missing but I doubt that's related.
