Best to restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. All the drivers and utilities are properly preinstalled. Windows is preactivated.
If you failed to burn recovery discs, you can obtain them from Toshiba. Scroll down to Get Recovery Media here .
For instructions, see the section Restoring from recovery DVDs/media, which begins on p. 70 of the User's Guide.

If the new hard disk uses advanced-format technology, be prepared to install a new storage driver first thing.

  • Keyboard and Mousepad does not work after installing windows support software.

I was able to successfully install windows 8.1 64bit on an late 2012 iMac. I went through the installation just fine with the mousepad and keyboard. I went into the desktop and open up the files and went to computer to download the windows support software. After it was done installing the windows support software, my mouse and my keyboard stopped working completely. I couldn't even click "finish" on the download. I turned the computer off by pressing the power button, then turned it back on. I held the option key and the Macintosh HD and Windows showed up. I turned the mousepad and keyboard back on and it was working again. So I clicked on Windows and as I enter the startup screen, the mouse and keyboard  stopped working again.
Computer: iMac 21.5 in. late 2012
    Used Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit
The keyboard and mousepad that I have is  bluetooth.

    Hi,
Have you checked it from Sounds yet. Please
    Right click the speaker icon
    Select Recording devices
You should see a "tick", otherwise Right click it and enable it.

  • How to recover Equium A100-147 without Toshiba specific software

    Hi
I've just formatted my laptop to get rip of all the dross but want to start with a Windows XP without the Toshiba fancy network stuf (configfree etc).
The techies at work are always moaning that they aren't familiar with it and I can never follow the standard instructions for Windows because the Toshiba Recovery bins the standard Windows functions in favour of the Tosh ones.
Is it possible to recover my Laptop with the necessary drivers for all the bits (eg WiFi, mousepad, sound etc) without all of the other dross?
    John

    Hi
At first I have to say that a Toshiba Recovery DVD or CD contains an image file.
This image files is a package and it contains the OS, Toshiba driver, tools and additional software like ConfigFree ;)
So if you use the Toshiba Recovery CD and recover the notebook then all these software parts will be installed on the HDD and you cannot choose what should be installed or what is not needed
You can remove the software which is not important for you after the recovery procedure.
At the other hand you could also install the OS using the clean Windows OS and then you could download and could install the Toshiba drivers.
    Bye

  • NB100 - Lost the use of the mousepad

    Hi All,
    First post (please be gentle....).
I work for a College in Nottingham, UK. We have ordered and received 50 x NB100. On arrival we re-imaged the hard drives from XP Home to XP Pro (as this is the standard OS for all College equipment). Things have been fine until the last couple of days when 2 of the NB-100's have suddenly lost the use of the mousepad.
They work fine with an external mouse. They have been back to out internal IT department and they seem to think that they are properly broken. I don't think that they are as if it's 2 I'm guessing that it may be a driver/software issue?
    Any advice gratefully received...
    Alex

    Hi Alex,
I assume you mean the touchpad instead mousepad? The mousepad has nothing to do with the notebook, this can easily be replaced with another one =)
Anyway, if an external mouse works, you should press FN+F9 key combination. With this combination the touchpad can be enabled/disabled.
    Check this!!!

  • My mousepad is not responding

After leaving my Macbook Pro Retina 13" for a few seconds the mousepad is not responding (pointer on screen is not moving (freezing). The mousepad works again when touching after 15 - 20 seconds, howcome?

Thank you for the followup. Sounds like you did a great bit of troubleshooting! Reinstalling the OS was a perfect way to help determine if the issue was with the OS, now it looks like you may need to reset the SMC on the computer and/or possibly the PRAM. Combined with your other troubleshooting if this is a software issue these steps will resolve it.
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
Note: Portable computers that have a battery you should not remove on your own include MacBook Pro (Early 2009) and later, all models of MacBook Air, and MacBook (Late 2009).
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
    And to reset the PRAM:
    About NVRAM and PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
    Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
After resetting NVRAM or PRAM, you may need to reconfigure your settings for speaker volume, screen resolution, startup disk selection, and time zone information. If issues persist, your Mac's logic board battery (not a portable Mac's rechargeable battery) may need to be replaced. The logic board battery helps retain NVRAM/PRAM settings when your computer is shut down. You can take your Mac to a Mac Genius or Apple Authorized Service Provider to replace the battery on the logic board.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Unresponsive keypad/mousepad on Satellite 1110

I have an older Satellite 1110. It is a dual boot machine with linux and windows XP. The boot manager is grub.
When I allow the machine to boot into the default OS without touching the keypad at the grub stage, about 70% of the time when the machine finishes booting both the keypad and mousepad will be non-functional. On the other hand if I use the up and down arrows at grub stage, 100% of the time both keypad and mousepad work correctly when the machine finishes booting.
I'm trying to understand why this would be so. It does not seem to relate to the OS involved, just the physical manipulation of the keypad. Is this a bad connection, failing chip, bios or other software issue?

    Thanks for this suggestion.
However, as indicated, if this happens then neither the keyboard or the mouse is working, so not possible to check, no access to any functionality.
What does work is to plug in an external USB mouse and or keyboard, which then gives access to the system. But finding a spare mouse / keyboard takes more time than just rebooting and making sure that I use the mouse and keyboard at grub stage.
It's a pity the BIOS does not do a mouse pointer / keyboard presence check , which would stop the boot and allow me to prompt them into action.

  • Keyboard/Mousepad Freezes

My keyboard/mousepad freezes from time to time. I can restart via power button or simply close the lid. When I reopen the lid the optical drive makes a noise and the mac acts as if nothing ever happened and my data is OK. I don't know why the lid switch still works as a kind of "sleep" button but it does. The power button also works but you can't make any subsequent choices using the keyboard or mouse pad after the freeze. Hardware issue?

Same problem here! When I close the lid and open it up again, the keyboard and touchpad do work again. But only as long as I use them frequently. When I let keyboard and touchpad alone for a while (one minute or so) both are frozen again.
When this bug is there, I can repeat the sleep and awake method with the same result again and again. Nothing in the logs.
When touchpad and keyboard are frozen, I can still use the bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
Only a restart (reboot) will help me out.
I think it was not there before 10.5.5.
I have no idea what causes the problem.
I'm using VMware Fusion. Perhaps this might be a problem when running it was a WinXP VM. (when running debian in a VM it seems to be stable).
This is AGAIN a big bug from Apple software (this seems to be no hardware bug).
I also suffer LED backlid bug (stripes from time to time).
I also suffer NVidia Softwarebug. (Graphic intense apps lead to crash. Especially when running with extern display on DVI).
Seriously disappointed now! (My old G4 powerbook was more stable).
Apple has tons of dollars at the bank. I suggest to spend some money into keeping quality high! Since the iPhone is out, so many feel it's going the wrong way with computers (let alone the missing option for mate displays).
Thanks Apple for listening and fixen these big problems.
(Steve, do a quick research for Apple freezing keyboards and touchpads - it's huge...)

  • I am trying to repair my disk permissions but hen I do the reboot start my mousepad doesn't work. What keyboard buttons to I hit to advance in reboot?

The computer won't load regularly or in safe boot. I'm trying to repair the disk but I can't do it without my mousepad. How do I repair the disk with just my keyboard?  My computer is a few years old but I have the newest software.

You should repair your hard drive with disk utility.  What version of Mac OS X are you using on your system, you should be able to start the computer by holding down the command + R keys it you are using Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) or 10.8 Mountain Lion, Take a look at this link, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1782?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

  • Windows 10 - Synaptics MousePad not working - HP Stream Notebook - 11-d007na

I have recently performed a Windows 10 64 CLEAN installation on my HP Stream Notebook 11-d007na, with no HP software installed. Needless to say, I had many missing driver issues all of which I have solved apart from one. The MousePad did not work during any of the setup process. I managed to get a USB mouse, get on to the HP website and download the MousePad driver for my laptop, which seemed to work fine. It installed and I was able to use the mouse. I soon realised however that two finger scrolling was not working and when I go to the Mouse Properties, there is no Synaptics tab to enable the selection for that feature. I went to the Synaptics website and tried to install the driver directly from there, but that installation keeps failing. So my question is, how do I get the Synaptics tab back on Mouse Properties so that I can enable 2 finger scrolling? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
First, download the Synaptics driver installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55049.exe
Next, open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry 'Synaptics Pointing Device Driver' and select Uninstall.
When this has completed, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
When windows has fully reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click the Synaptics installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again.

  • My mousepad doesnt work

My mousepad doesn't work  is getting  freeze. What i can do ?

I think you mean your trackpad.
Make sure your software is up to date.
Click Software Update from your Apple menu.
If you can't use the trackpad to do this, connect a USB cabled mouse.

  • My mac's software is only available under my profile on MacBook pro. How can other family members get to the optional SW logged in under their own profile

Is there a way to share purchased SW under mote than one profile on the MacBook pro?
    Thanks

If the software is in the HD>Applications folder it's available to everyone. If for some reason you put software into User>Applications folder it will be available only to that user.

  • Brand new IPOD Touch Apps no longer work after upgrading software

I got a Ipod touch for my wife Today at Wal-Mart. I brought it home, connected to wifi and downloaded some apps and also payed for some. They all worked fine. Then I connected to computer to transfer songs. It told me to upgrade the Ipod software so i Did. After it restarted none of the downloaded apps work anymore. I have read MANY MANY MANY discussions on this and there is no fix. I am not wiping out all the songs and reload everything all over again. It will take forever. My wifes BD is Friday and this is making me so mad after I just dropped $300 on this thing. APPLE!!! Where is the fix? I deleted the apps and reinstalled they still don't work. Anybody got this figured out? I am getting ready to get my money back and tell everyone to avoid buying ipod until they get this upgrade bug fixed.
Message was edited by: 2009 IPOD TOUCH

I have the same problem. Brand new two days ago. I synched the touch with Itunes but wasn't hooked up to the internet at the time so didn't do the software upgrade right away. Then I downloaded about a dozen apps (free and paid) with wifi directly to the touch. They all worked fine. Then I plugged it back in to Itunes and had it upgrade it to 3.1.2. It locked up Itunes several times since then and the downloaded apps no longer work (they start to open then disappear).
The problem is, no one is listening to this problem (including Anna above)! Everyone says "just do a hard reboot, or restore to factory settings, reload the apps, etc." I've tried all the standard troubleshooting but none of it fixes this. It sure seems to me this is a problem with 3.1.2 but Apple isn't helping out here. Where are you APPLE? Use some of those outrageous profits you're making to fix the problem you have created. Here's $300 of my hard earned dollars pretty much down the drain.
