Mousepad/touchpad problem control button activates

Hi,
Just bought a pavilion g6 and i have a problem with the touch pad. when moving the cursor around the screen the control button seems to suddenly activate.
for example the "find your cursor when pressing control" function kicks in and a circle highlights the location of the cursor on the screen
or even worse the webpage will zoom in and out as if I held the control button and swiped up or down with the touchpad page scroll option.
I am not using the mouse pad in any weird way. eg just using one (slender) finger. I cant find any reference to this being a known problem but i am checking here before leaving my laptop back.
is there meant to be some in built touchpad function that causes the control button to be able to be activated from the touchpad? If so can i disactivate it?

  • GT-70 2OD Touchpad Problem (disabling button) after updating BIOS and EC

    Hi All,
I was solving issues with random BSOD's (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=176615.0), but now I got the button that Disables the Touchpad malfunctioning.
I just updated BIOS and EC to 2014-01-17 Versions from MSI website.
The button is not disabling the touchpad and also the LED is not working (well, it used to turn on when the touchpad was disabled), however the "touchpad enabled" picture is showing on the screen everytime the button is pushed.
It's not a major thing, but you know how perfectionists are .... Any idea how to solve this? I'm just going to try updating the touchpad driver with latest from MSI website and let you know the result
    Thanks in advance,
PS: Nice community. I just joined this forum and I received a lot of help already!!!!

Quote from: darkhawk on 05-February-14, 01:00:21
Did you perform the EC Reset procedure outlined on the website?
    Just to reiterate it:
    1. Turn off the laptop.
    2. Remove the Battery.
    3. Remove the AC adapter.
    4. Let the laptop sit there for 20 minutes.
    5. Install the Battery.
    6. Install the AC adapter.
    7. Turn on the laptop.
This might help fix the issue.
Yep, I followed step by step to update the EC.
I just removed original synaptic driver for the touchpad and Installed latest from MSI website. The button doesn't work as before (I was able enable/disable at will), now its behavior is as follows (and I think it was made intelligently):
You can't disable the touchpad if no other pointing device is present
When another pointing device is present, the touchpad disables itself and the button LED is ON (as before). You can't enable the touchpad (before I was able to enable it) if another pointing device is present.
For me, it's OK. BTW... had been about 22 hours without BSOD...
    Thank you guys!!!
PS: I just realized that I re-connected my PS3 controller via USB (in the very same USB port that I use to connect it) and the laptop REINSTALLED drivers for it...

I can't turn on my wifi because the Media Control button for that function now starts my Windows Media Player instead.  This was not  problem until today.  The only change made yesterday was to download and install TouchPad drivers.  Any suggestions?

  • Satellite Pro L20: TouchPad control button has collapsed

I have reported two other faults with my notebook in other posts, in relation to those this is very minor but its still very annoying:
The left TouchPad control button on my notebook, usually evenly supported from below, appears to have given way on one side, so that it does not operate with the same spring action on one side of the left button. It wobbles like a loose tooth.
Is this sort of problem easily fixed? Until i get a USB mouse i'm stuck with the TouchPad, but the persistent sound of the plastic surfaces scratching against each other is infuriating!

Just short comment to your posting: I have noticed that the quality of mouse buttons on the notebooks is not the same. On my Tecra it is really perfect and pressure on any point gives the same result but on low budget notebooks, like L series, it is not the case.
I know that it is pretty annoying but unfortunately there is nothing to do. Because of that the usage of external mouse is reasonable.

  • Equium A100-147 (PSAABE) Control Buttons problem

Hello, do you have any idea why do the control buttons (play, pause, stop, next track, previous track) are not working? I uninstalled the control buttons driver and installed the last one and the buttons are still not working with windows media player.
    Cheers,
    Quarkos.

If it works with other programs, then it may be a software issue and you must configure the driver.
Have you tried this driver: http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/tracker.jsp?file=http%3a%2f%2fsupport.toshiba-tro.de%2ftools%2fvista%2fbutsu%2fbutsu-vista-6btn0.zip

  • GT80 Titan Touchpad Problems

    Greetings,
There have been a number of posts here and in other forums about the dual-function Synaptics touchpad of the GT80 Titans. It can function as a traditional pointing device or it can function as a numpad. It's a brilliant idea but it has a few "gotchas".
MSI recently posted a FAQ to address one of the problems here: www.msi.com/faq/nb-1654.html. The problem addressed in this FAQ is the numpad function no longer working.
Unfortunately, the FAQ misses the most common cause of the problem that I've seen: Disabling "Tapping" in the Synaptics touchpad settings. Some users will turn off the "Tapping" setting because they don't want a tap to be interpreted as a mouse click when they use the touchpad as a pointing device. Why? Because it is too easy to accidentally "click" when you don't want to. Many users prefer to use the mechanical buttons of the touchpad for clicking. The problem is that disabling the "Tapping" feature also disables the Numpad function because it relies on tapping. After the user have disabled "Tapping" they discover that the numpad no longer works and become frustrated.
In my opinion, the dual-functions of the touchpad in the GT80 Titan have been poorly implemented for a variety of reasons such as:
1 - There should be separate Synaptics touchpad settings for the two modes. One set for use as a pointing device and another set for use as a touchpad. The most obvious reason is because many users do not like "Tapping" enabled for a pointing device but they need "Tapping" to be enabled for the numpad function.
2 - The touchpad's mechanical buttons are only active when the touchpad is used as a pointing device. However, they are illuminated only when they are inactive and the touchpad is used as a numpad. This is backwards. The illumination should be turned on when they are active and it should follow the keyboard backlight setting controlled by Fn+Pgup and Fn+Pgdn. The illumination should be turned off when they are inactive during numpad use. As it is now, the touchpad buttons are impossible to see in the dark, making it easy to click the wrong one. I hope this can be fixed in a future BIOS update.
3 - There is no way to make the numpad mode the default. For example, I use an external mouse most of the time and would like the touchpad to function as a numpad by default when I turn on the Titan each morning.
    Kind regards, David

4 - The numpad illumination cannot be dimmed and it needs to be. In the dark, it is way, way, way too bright! It needs to follow the dimming of the keyboard backlight with Fn+Pgup and Fn+Pgdn.

  • Media control button isn't ON - Satellite P305D-S8828

I reformat my laptop and didn't save the drivers (boohoo!).
I can't use the touchpad and tried installing both Alps and Synaptic but neither works.
Another problem is that the Media Control Buttons (located beside the Power Button) are not lit.
I use the Media Buttons yesterday but when I turn the laptop on today, it wasn't lit.
Please help! I don' know what to do anymore...

    Hi
You could try to setup the multimedia button using the TOSHIBA Button Support.
The application in +Program Files\Toshiba\TBS\Backlight.exe+ controls the illumination

  • Re: Satellite L655 - Touchpad On/Off button isn't working

Just this morning, I noticed that the on/off button of my Satellite's touchpad doesn't work, although the Fn+F9 key combo does work in activating and deactivating my touchpad.
It was working well last night until I slept, when I woke up, my laptop has restarted due to Windows updates during the night. I didn't take notice of anything since I was using a wireless mouse. Then upon reaching work and checking if I can activate my touchpad (Windows has loaded and logged on), the on-screen display that tells if the touchpad is active or not is not showing up and my touchpad on/off button won't work.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Oh, sorry about that... I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit... Came pre-installed with the laptop...
I already did what Xaver suggested. Uninstalled VAP, restart, reinstalled VAP, restart. Unfortunately, the problem still won't go away. As I've mentioned, the button works *BEFORE* logging in to a profile, after that, it doesn't anymore.
I might try doing a system restore to the point when my computer installed the Windows updates... That might do the trick...

But I have a little problem with the eco button, speaker button an the touchpad on/off button. They dont work! 2 days ago I refreshed my Windows 7 after the same problem. Today I have the problem again.

    Hi
Nice to read that you are love your new Satellite P500. My friend has also bought new Satellite P500 and he is very satisfied too. Its a great notebook with fast and new hardware equipped. The design is fantastic I have to say.
Anyway, you can reinstall the Eco Utility and Toshiba Value Added Package that controls such special functions. Both utilites you can get on the Toshiba page:

  • Crystal Report/STRUTS: Error (404) when clicking on Control Buttons (Print, Export, Next, Previous, etc...) on report viewer

    Post Author: jwenny
    CA Forum: Deployment
    Need help badly!!!
We are using the crystal reports plugin for STRUTS.
We are able to display the report in the crystal report viewer.  However, when we click any control buttons (print, export, etc...), then we get:
JSPG0036E:  Failed to find resource /Report-viewer.jsp
We then moved Report-viewer.jsp to the WebContents folder (root directory) and got a different error when we clicked any control button:
    Error:  400 page not found
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?  For instance, is there a setting or parameter that needs to be set?
    Greatly appreciate any help!

    HI,
Whenever we print the viewer does an auto postback, I believe due to this some of the values are getting missed. Moreover we are referring to the viewer and reportdocument object, it seems. So can you try this simple code in an application to see if it helps:
    ReportDocument rdoc = new ReportDocument();
    rdoc.Load("C:\TASKECrystalReports\Intraday.rpt");
    rdoc.SetDatabaseLogon("uid","pwd");
    rdoc.SetParameterValues("parameter name","value");
    CrystalReportViewer.ReportSource = rdoc;
    Helps?
    Thanks.

  • Qosmio G40: Vista Ultimate - Control buttons don't work properly

    Hello friends,
I have a Qosmio G40 for a few months and everything is working well till now.
The problem is related to the front operation panel.
If i am using Windows Media Player, the buttons PLAY/STOP/PAUSE/FORWARD/BACKWARD work well, but if i try to use (in any case) the other buttons like REC or TURN LEDS ON or DOLBY, the button makes the usual sound but nothing happens, doesn't open any program that is supposed to open.
Does anyone have any idea of why this is happening. I've been trying to look for any configuration software of these buttons but can't seem to find any.
My system is Windows Vista Ultimate.
    Best Regards,

    Hi
The Toshiba European driver page provides the AV Controller Manager.
This tool allows you to customize and preset TOSHIBA AV Control button settings.
Maybe you should install this tool and should check it again.
Additionally it would be advisable to reinstall the VAP
    Check it out!

  • Equium P300 - Control buttons don't work running Win XP

Hi I am looking for some help with a problem with a Equium P300 laptop,
This is my brother's laptop, he bought it about 18 months ago, it came with Vista, he didn't want this as he preferred to have XP so I changed the operating software to XP using the drivers available on Toshiba's website to update to the correct drivers.
This has worked fine for the last 18 months however recently when the laptop is turned off, the touch sensitive hotkeys stay illuminated, even when unplugged from the power source, and do not function.
Previously if it has been turned off and you push one of the hotkeys the laptop would turn on but it is no longer doing this.
I am wondering if anyone has had experience of this previously?
Or does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem or even what is causing the problem?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer
    Keith

    Hi
In you are using Win XP on this notebook, then you should update the BIOS because there is an special BIOS for Win XP!
Furthermore the Toshiba Multimedia Control buttons are controlled by Toshiba Controls tool. You can download it from the Toshiba driver page.
    Regarding the illumination buttons;
As far as I know you can enabled and disable this in BIOS itself!
    Check the BIOS settings,

  • My screen gets dim and the brightness control buttons don't work

My screen is frequently dim.  The brightness control buttons display that they are working, but the brightness doesn't actually change.  Any ideas why and what I can do?

Thanks for the suggestion.  Actually, I had tried that but still had to go into preferences any time I wanted it brighter.  After I posted, I found a thread using some different keywords and found that people were having the same problem with OS versions up to 10.7.2 but solved it with the latest update (10.7.3).  I just installed it and now seem to be able to adjust the brightness with my keyboard no problem.  I appreciate your reply anyway!

  • I am no longer able to use the volume control buttons ( /-/or mute) on my key board in Windows 7

    1. HP Pavilion dm4 XO132AV

    5. Question: I am no longer able to use the volume control buttons ( /-/or mute) on my key board in Windows 7

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp50501-51000/sp50856.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again.
