Dear Common Wisdom:
I have a Keynote presentation that I exported as a .mov.
Then I put the .mov file in an iWeb movie template.
I export it to a folder and them upload it to my site.
The problem is that it works fine when I run the page locally, but the uploaded version has two problems:
1. The QuickTime bar for pause, start, stop and sound disappears, and
2. the .mov file stays on the first frame of the Keynote presentation, repeating it over and over again.

Autoplay was not chosen, while show movie controller has been chosen from the very beginning, which is still a mystery to me.
As previously explained, there is also a "Controller" setting embedded within the movie file itself which appears to override your iWeb setting. This is what it looks like:
I have downloaded your file, changed both the "Fullscreen" and "Controller Type," and posted the movie back to the internet. As you can see HERE, if you wait for the file to completely cache, the movie controller is now visible.
Maybe these are bugs in iWeb?
As to the movie not fast starting, it appears that your movie will not play until the entire "Sprite" track has downloaded to memory. Since the tracks are processed in parallel and not sequentially, the entire interactive slideshow must be downloaded before the viewer can play it. Since you modified the movie to make it interactive and the player is working as it was designed to to, I would not consider this a bug. However, as interactivity is not an are of expertise for me, would suggest you check out QuickTime Kirk's site (often posted in the QT forum area) for possible interactivity alternatives.

Magic Move Doesn't Work

I am having trouble using Magic Move in Keynote '09. When I duplicate the slide and content, it works when I move only, but if I try to scale it, the transition fades out and back in to the new location. It doesn't create a smooth transition from one scale to the other like it usually does?
Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

I checked everything you mentioned and none of those solved the issue. The item is an image without any text on it. I even took a completely different image and the same thing happened... so it doesn't appear to be a result of the image itself. The problem carried over to the new image? However, when I used a completely new slide and dropped the same image into the slide as if I started from scratch, it seemed to create the magic move transition. I also copied in all the text from the previous slide.
I'll go ahead with that hack, it's not really a solution, but it will have to work for now.
Still curious what the problem was, but thank you for your assistance. If you still have an idea of a solution, I would love to know in case it comes up again.

Director movie doesn't work online in Firefox

When I publish movie it works fine locally both in Firefox
and IE. But when I upload it to the server it works fine only IE,
in Firefox it freezes during execution and I can't figure out what
causes that. The movie loads external 3D model and XML through
XMLParser. I suspect that there is smth with loading and/or parsing
XML file, but again - it works fine in IE.
Any ideas why this may happen in Firefox?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the ''Safe mode'' start window.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")

Rotate movie doesn't work!

I'm trying to rotate a .mov filmsequence in my recently installed and upgraded(PRO) Quicktime 7.5.
When I open the film and go to <window <movie properties, it doesn't look anything like the window featured on the apple website and gives me no option to rotate the film.
Anyone knows why? Is 7.5 not the latest version? why can't I rotate?
PLEASE give me a clue, this is the only reason I bought the QuickTime software.. :o(

Open the file and then open the Movie Properties window (Control-j).
In the Movie Properties window "highlight" (single click) on the Video track and you'll notice the lower half of the window updates to show more options.
Click the "Visual Settings" tab of that lower part of the window to use the rotate feature. Use Save As to make it part of the new file.

Magic move doesn't work anymore

Hello everybody,
after opening a presentation (I had prepared in Keynote 09) in Keynote 6, magic move is no longer working.
Any help you might provide? Is there a user manual for Keynote 6?

Could you walk me through the steps? Perhaps I'm looking for "Magic Move" and it's not there. There are three tabs in animation afterall.

Tryoing to play QVR. Works on a MAC with version 7. Doesn't work the same using Version 10.

Have some .mov files that work just find on my MAC that has QVR player version 7. When I try these same files on a MAC that was recently updated automatically and has QVR version 10, the .mov doesn't work the same way. Is there a way to set parameters in version 120 to behave like version 7 or alternatively can I download version 7?

Mac OS X 10.6 includes QuickTime versions 10.0 and 7.6.3. The QuickTime 7 player will only be present if a QuickTime Pro key was present at the time of installation, or if specified as part of a custom install, or individually downloaded:

Snow Leopard update 10.6.4 included an update to 7.6.6 (if installed). You can install it from the above link even though it says for 10.6.3. It's the same version of QuickTime Player 7.6.6.

The New Software 1.1 doesn't work with the iPod 60GB

I Install the new software, with videos up to 400Mb(movies) doesn't work, the ipod stop, freeze the movie and restart in the same frame without audio. I have other 5th generation iPod but he have 30GB and it works perfecly for this i say that problems bring with the 60 Gb, i don't know why.
I need a new software for the iPod.
Someone have the same problem?

I too had the same problem with my 60GB after the firmware update. My install CD, however, had V1.0.
You don't have to go to some retailer and try to get them to bootleg you a copy of the correct installer.
You friends at Apple already have this installer hosted for you and it's available for download right on their download's page. If you have any questions or problems, post back to me and I'll see what I can do.

When I move a harddrive with Bootcamp from my mac pro to my macbook, windows doesn't work

I have a 13" Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook and the topcase-keyboard doesn't work and so for some reason, it makes it impossible for me to install windows on the bootcamp partition. While the windows installer is running, it doesn't recognize usb keyboards. So I decided to install windows 7 professional on that same drive using my Mac Pro. The installation worked perfectly.
Then I take that harddrive and I move it back to my MacBook and windows won't start up correctly, stating that something has changed (of course!...duh).
Can anyone help me with a workaround for this?

I've posted this question to the Snow Leopard community because that's the OS I'm using.

With the Lion it is essentially unnecessary to resort to external driver disks. What's more, most of those disks are incompatible with the OS and should not be used. The system already carries a wide variety of printer description files (aka PPDs, which is what modern printing systems use as "drivers") for a lot of brands. And there was an HP printer update just two days ago.
Just checked in mine and did indeed find that the HP OfficeJet 6200 Series, with or without Fax, is covered with the latest update.
So just go thru the motions of creating a proper printer instance:
Make sure the Mac "sees" the printer on the network.
System Preferences / Print & Scan
Click on the + button on the left column
Select the appropriate type of printer, will use IP for the rest of this
Select HP Jetdirect - Socket, default for HP network printers
Type the IP address or look it up
Name the printer for easy identification on the print dialog
Let the Mac identify the printer model or manually choose the driver
Click Add.
Once the instance pops up in the list, can click on Options & Supplies for further config.

HT4527 I want to move all my iTunes from old PC to new PC but Home Sharing on both and it works. At Step 11, I clicked Home Sharing Import button doesn't work.

Help! I want to move all my iTunes music, podcasts, etc. from an old PC to a new PC. I set up Home Sharing on both and it works. I followed the steps in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 to the letter. At Step 11, I clicked on Home Sharing on my new PC, then Edit > Select All so I could then import everything to the new computer. No matter what I try, the Import button doesn't work. There are two buttons on the lower right hand side of the iTunes screen - one for Settings and one for Import. The Settings button is clickable but the Import button isn't even live. In other words, I can see it but not click on it. I have double-checked my firewall and it is not the problem. How can I get the Import button to work?

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have failed to move contacts and calendar items across you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

Scanner HP G2410 doesn't work and ligth doesn't move

I'm using the scanner G2410 in windows XP 32-bits, but suddenly it doesn't work. When I trying to scan, a short time later it shows me a message that says the scanner is not find it, that restart my pc, wait 60 seconds and connect it again. Also the ligth doesn't move. In the end of the message shows me the error number:
4,[(2,5,80004000b),(3,5,0)]
Even I try it in a pc with windows 7 64-bits but the same result.
Is my scan totally damaged? I will appreciate you help me.

Interactive pdf with movies/swf files doesn't work in up-to-date Acrobat Reader

Hi, I've a CS6 InDesign doc with movies (MP4's from a URL) and a few swf files. When exporting as an interactive pdf, all the links, movies, swf's work fine in my Acrobat Pro. They work fine on other peoples PC's with Acrobat Pro. But on all my clients PC's with up to date Reader, the movies are playing slow, and the pdf just doesn't work as expected. With links to next page etc not working either. They have up dated their Flash Player too. Still not working well.
Is there a magic fix? Can I re-save this pdf differently so they can experience all the interactive features properly?
I created a similar pdf last year from CS5, but adding in the movies & links on the pdf. Do I have to do this again?

Is it possible that your client's PC is just a very slow machine? You might consider cutting out some of the interactivity if your PDF is to complex to be handled by less powerful machines.

[Photoshop CC 2014] Click&hold-move-release doesn't work when adding adjustment layer from the layer panel

When selecting a menu item I used to click the left mouse button and hold it down, move the pointer to the desired menu item and release the mouse button. Everything works fine in the mine menu, but there's a problem when adding new adjustment layer from the layer panel: when I release the button nothing happens, I have to press the button again. In previous PS version it worked fine. How can I fix this?

I don't think that is user fixable, meaning you'll have to wait till adobe fixes it with an update.

I even tried deleting iMovie, bought a new copy and installed it, but the folder "iPhoto Videos" is still there and I can't get new clips loaded to iMovie, especially where I want them. Please help.

The iPhoto Videos do occasionally have problems. I've seen a lot of people write messages to this Discussion group describing similar problems. The only thing that seems to get around this problem is to pull the video clips out of iPhoto then import them directly into iMovie. Once the troubles with iPhoto Videos starts, I haven't yet seen anyone write back with something that they did to fix it.
The most difficult part of doing this is the movies in iPhoto might be a little difficult to track down. But you can create a smart alum that does that for you. Go to iPhoto > File Menu > New Smart Album:
Set the first pulldown menu to keyword, second to contains, then in the last box type Movie with a capital 'M'. Then click OK. This smart album more or less does as search of the whole iPhoto Library and only displays items that match your search tearm of "Movie" exactly. In that smart album then you can find the original Movies you want to move out of iPhoto and into iMovie, <CTRL> click on the Movie clip, then choose Reveal in Finder. That will jump you out of iPhoto temporarily and into the iPhoto Library folder. From there you can move that movie file to the desktop. Move all the clips you want, once they're all collected up go to iMovie and go to the File Menu > Import Files. Then point it to the desktop where you moved your video clips.
This will put all those videos into an Event folder in iMovie and bypass iPhoto Videos altogether.

"Move Current Track Automation Data to Region" doesn't work for all

I have been using the 'Move Current Track Automation Data to Region' and while it works fine for some types of automation data like channel volume, pan and some plugin parameters, it doesn't work for all of them.
I haven't done exhaustive research into which parameters work and which don't, but most of the parameters for individual voices within Ultrabeat don't - which is annoying as that is what I was trying to use it for.
Any ideas about this, or workarounds?

OK, well an update on this in case anyone's interested.
With some further experimentation I have discovered that this problem did not exist in Logic 7 - ie you can move current track automation data for individual Ultrabeat voices to the region.
It's also possible to move automation data for individual Ultrabeat voices using 'Move All Track Automation Data to Region,' so I suppose this is a kind of workaround, though it can be annoying if you don't want to move all track automation data.
I'm now assuming this is a bug in Logic 8; is there any way to convert a Logic 8 project to work in Logic 7, as this along with the touch tracks bug is making working in Logic 8 very frustrating?
