.mov file won't import on PC. File imports on other PCs in office.

I am getting a "The file has no audio or video stream." The file opens and plays on all video players present on my PC and is able to be imported on another PC in the office. I have the most up to date version of Premiere Pro. Any reason why the .mov flle won't open?

  • IMovie Audio Files Won't Play when the File is Moved

I imported a lot of audio files into iMovie from my desktop and I set them out how I wanted them in my project. But as my desktop was getting too cluttered, I had to move the audio files into a different folder in my documents, but now the audio files won't play and a warning icon is on each audio clip. Is there a simple way to relocate the files, without moving the files back to my desktop and without having to set out my all my audio files all over again?

Besides the two files you mentioned in your post, you also need to upload YOUR .swf as well. Then you need to upload your music file/folder.
Also double check that the path to your mp3 is correct RELATIVE to the location of the Web page that you placed the .swf on, NOT the physical location of the .swf.
    var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("../Sound/dreamsSound1.mp3");
This needs to be the path from the WEB PAGE to the mp3, NOT the path from the physical location of the .swf.
Once you have the pathing correct, it should NOT work when testing in Flash CS4, because the path to the mp3 needs to be RELATIVE to the Web page.
    Best wishes and Good Luck!

  • Indesign file won't open native CS5 file, gives me "missing plug-in or being used?

I've tried to open both a CS4 and CS5 file from another designer, and it gives me a message "InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file may be missing, or the file may be open in another application." (which it is not) I've downloaded the update, but still no luck. Any ideas?

Are you sure it's an InDesign file? How did you get the file?

  • Windows Movie Maker won't accept my Quicktime file

can you give me the hints? I tried converting the quicktime file and it's worked, because now it has the windows media thumbnail, BUT it still doesnt work in the movie player..

Windows Movie Maker does not import MOV files as you surmised. Third party software is necessary to convert it for importation to WMM.
One such software(free) that works is: 'RAD Video Tools' from 'Bink and Smacker':
    www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm
The RAD Video Tools software will allow you to convert MOV files to AVI files, which will import into WMM
A FAQ page on converting files w/the RAD s/w is here:
    www.radgametools.com/binkhcon.htm
It may look intimidating at first but all you really need to do is:
    1) Browse to your MOV file, select it, then click 'convert a file' at bottom menu.
    2) Then in the new window that pops up, make sure the output file type is .AVI(the default output file type should be AVI), then click on 'convert' at right menu.
    3) Import the newly created AVI file into WMM
    Hope this is helpful,

  • Swf demo files won't play in flash file on website

Using Captivate 4, I created a project and published to a folder (as Flash 8). The main flash file has 4 swf demo files that are supposed to play on one of the slides; I uploaded all the published files (swf, js, htm) into a folder within my website's CMS. Our CMS uses it's own flash player to play the file; when it plays, all is well except for the slide that is supposed to show the 4 swf demos--these aren't showing up at all. If these demo files are in the same folder in the CMS as the main flash file, why can't it find them to make them play on the slide?
here's a link to the page with the file:
http://stage.lmc.simplicis.net/page/1/testlearningpoint.jsp (see link for "watch this video on city learning point")
--it's the slide with "City Learning Point uses..." that's supposed to play 4 swf demos on the right side of the slide, but they don't show up at all
Our website CMS is hosted and maintained by a vendor--if the issue is with the CMS, I'll need to know what to tell them so we can resolve the issue.

Looks to me like the issue is indeed your CMS. The flash content is loaded in a lightbox, which is most likely controlled by some JavaScript or ASP. My guess would be that the problem lies with the paths to the files. The swf file that the lightbox loads is referenced in your CMS so it knows where to get it - the thing is that most likely it is not played from the location where it's located but instead played from the location where the lightbox script is loaded. Since the 4 SWF's you have are not located there it won't be able to find it.
Also this lightbox approach isn't very good for this type of content. The demo is extremely small and the alignment of the Flash file looks weird. Instead just use the HTML file generated by Captivate and upload that to a directory in your CMS. Then change the link you have so it opens the HTML file in a new window and everything should work out just fine.

  • ITunes 11 previously imported a video file, which I loaded on to my iPod Nano, but I removed the file from the iTunes library and now it won't (re-)import the same video. Any thoughts on why not?

iTunes 11 previously imported a video file, which I loaded on to my iPod Nano, but I removed the file from the iTunes library and now it won't (re-)import the same video.
I'm using 2 PCs, each with video files (.MP4) on their respective hard drives, and also one external drive with other video files on that I move between the two devices.
iTunes on one PC will (sometimes!) let me add video content from the external hard drive, which is clearly iTunes-compatible, because I can then copy it over to my iPod Nano. On the other PC, I couldn't load that same video from the external hard drive. But if I copied that same video on to the PC's internal hard drive first, then iTunes would let me import it. That was yesterday - now iTunes is refusing to load any files from the internal or external hard drive(s).
    Any thoughts or suggestions, please?

So I tried copying the files from the external hard drive to a USB drive. I could import the video files from the USB drive!
So then I tried importing the same files on to my PC's internal hard drive again. I could import the video files from the internal hard drive!
So then I tried to import the very same files that failed to load on the very same PC previously. I could now import them!
I still can't import from the external hard drive directly, though.
I really don't think I like the process of importing things into iTunes very much... any suggestions on what's causing any of this behaviour would be very interesting.

  • .MOV file won't play in QuickTime Player? QT Components?

I have a bunch of .MOV clips on my hard drive that I'd like to ultimately import to Final Cut Express (4.0.1) to edit (my wedding video!!). If I double click on the clip, it automatically opens in QuickTime Player (7.6.9), and I then prompted to a QuickTime Components website. I'm not sure why the .MOV clips won't play, since I believe I have the latest version of QT. What should I do?
Additional information on the .MOVE files: original format is MPEG HD, dimensions: 1280 x 720, Codecs: XDCAM EX 720p30 (35 Mb/s VBR) Integer (Big Endian), Timecode
    Thank you for your help!

Upon further research, I found that a certain QT plug-in is required to use XDCAM EX footage in Final Cut Express, which can be found on this website:
    http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QXD.asp
I downloaded the demo, but have no idea how to use it to convert my files so FCE will accept it.  Is anyone familiar with this plug-in and what to do once it is downloaded?

  • Why won't my Lightroom 5.3 import files anymore?

I'm on a Mac with Lightroom 5.3 freshly installed. It worked neatly for a couple of days when importing either from my iPhone or my 6D (from the card reader). Suddenly it stopped doing that. I've been through all the discussions and I've tried the following steps:
    - delete the preference file (and re-start Lightroom)
    - re-install Lightroom
    - create a new catalogue (won't work either)
    - checked the permissions (as in the beginning, it would tell me that it can't read my files - but they worked perfectly!), which were fine
    - cleared the "recently used" file paths of the import dialogue
    - re-booted my Mac about a gazillion times
    - updated the RAW software
    - re-installed Lightroom again (but having deleted pretty much everything from the HD that was Lightroom related)
It just won't work. But before I re-installed Lightroom, it would still give me the "error: can't read files" sign. Now, it simply starts importing (the progress bar starts anyway) and then it just stops at one point, not having imported anything. Lightroom doesn't freeze, it just doesn't do anything and the progress bar stops. I wanted to  attach a screenshot to show you what it looks like right now, but that didn't work either, so whatever.
Here's the thing: it still works in Lightroom 4. So now I've been importing into Lightroom 4 and adding the files without moving them to Lightroom 5. But what kind of workflow is that? It's literally killing me because I've paid money for the software and I was patient enough to go over all the trouble shooting, but I'm really out of wit. I hope somebody can help me with this problem.
    Thanks in advance.

    This is my observation:
My Pictures and my Movies folder are on an external harddisk. I have an alias for both of them in my User folder.
The Finder can access the catalogs on the external harddisk without problems.
When I create a catalog on my SSD, detach the external drive, delete the aliases and create folders Pictures and Movies on the SSD everything is fine.
When I delete the folders Pictures and Movies on the SSD again, attach the external drive and re-create the aliases things go wrong.
The problem is that Lightroom can't handle the alias! That's all.
This problem has never been an issue until the lastest version (5.7) of LR.
Whatever I do in terms of access rights to the alias and/or the folder the alias points to, it won't work.
    Please fix this URGENTLY!

  • Premiere Elements 4 audio won't play on mp4 files, codecs missing/unavailable on .mov files

I dowlnloaded Premiere Elements 4, and when I import mp4 files, the video plays but the audio will not. I've also tried to import .mov files, and an error message pops up that says "Codec missing or unavailable." I downloaded the latest version of Quicktime, but that didn't change anything. The files will play back on the video camera, but I"m having trouble with them on my computer. The audio on the mp4 files plays in Quicktime, but not the video, and vice versa when I import them into Elements. Any suggestions?

Does Quicktime Pro also edit .mov files on a PC?

Premiere Elements 4 pretty much works with tape-based digital video. That would be video from a miniDV or HDV tape-based camcorder. It doesn't handle other formats very well.
If you plan to edit MP4s, you definitely want to upgrade to a more current version of the program. If you can't install a current version of the program, you may need to address issues on your computer (such as an outdated operating system or underpowered hardware configuration).
Short of that, you could buy Quicktime Pro from Apple for $29. It will edit MP4s, even on a PC platform.

  • Video files won't move to new computer

I imported a bunch of TV shows into iTunes, they all play fine. Now I have moved to different computers twice and the imported video files won't follow me. Only a couple are identified as m4v files and play, the rest are saying they are mov, they only play the sound, on my original computer everything plays. How do I get them corrected on my new Mac?
    Thank you

    Run Repair Disk.
First check the S.M.A.R.T. status on your HD: Applications>Utilities>DiskUtility>in the panel at left, select the first item in the list/your HDmechanism>look at the bottom of the main window next to S.M.A.R.T. statusand see if it says “Verified” or something more ominous like “Failing.”
If S.M.A.R.T. status is "Verified," run Repair Disk:Boot from install disc (insert disc>restart>immediately hold down c keyand keep holding it until you see “Preparing Installation”)>at first screenselect the language and click Continue> click on the Utilities Menu in themenu bar>open Disk Utility>select your HD in the panel on the leftside>click Repair Disk at bottom of main window. Run this at least twice, and keep running it until it says “appears ok” twice in a row. If that doesn’thappen, you may need a stronger utility such as DiskWarrior orif the directory is damaged beyond repair, you may need to reinstall the OS, oryou may have a damaged HD (repair utilities can only repair the directorystructure, not the HD itself). When this is finished, quit Disk Utility, quitthe installer, and restart. Once booted normally, go toApplications>Utilities>Disk Utility and run Repair Permissions.

  • Premiere Pro CC won't import ANY audio file, be it an mp3 or part of an mp4 video (or other formats)

Any audio or video file I drop in to premiere will almost immediately pop up with the window
    Audio Conforming Error
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.
When I check the error/event log (little red X in the bottom corner) that window says:
"11/21/14 09:47:28  A disk error occurred while attempting to access the following files:
    \\ipsse01\home$\myusername\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\Media Cache Files\filename.mp3 44100.cfa"
(The actual file is on my desktop)
This happens with everything, even the stock audio files Windows comes with in the "Sample Music" folder, I tried those too to no avail.
I'm at a complete loss. I'm new to premiere pro but these are generic file formats so I don't think the issue is with the file. I haven't tried to reinstall because I'd have to go to our one network administrator/IT person (who also is the accountant for the company) so she can enter the admin user name/password in the pop up box, and she's often so busy. I'm trying to avoid bugging her if I don't need to (which unfortunately I tend to still have to do a lot)
    For reference I'm running Win7 Professional 64-bit, 8GB RAM, and an i7-4610M CPU @ 3.00 GHz.

    Hi Neila,
    Neila@IPSUMM wrote:
Thanks for responding, but I work for a very small company and since I'm the only one who needs CC, I have the personal version installed.
Also this appears to be a blanket issue with all audio and video file formats, thus not likely a codec issue since the files I've tried so far should be covered by premiere's compatibility, the even play in windows media player with no issue.
Video itself plays fine, but any audio attached to a video, or just plain audio files will not import no matter what I try.
    Sorry my info didn't help.
    Two things to try.
Create a brand new project and test if you can import the problematic files.
If that does not work, change the name of the folder that contains your media files. Then try to import.
    Let us know what happens.
    Thanks,

  • 2.98GB .m4v File won't import into iMove 11?

I ripped a family movie off a DVD converted from a VHS tape, using Handbrake into an .m4v file and have tried twice now to import it into iMovie 11 without success.  Is there some kind of limit that would make this fail?  It starts building a .mov file in the iMove projects directory and I can see the file size increase until the very end (2 hours later) and then it gets deleted.  Ugly.  What am I doing wrong or are my expectations of iMovie too high?

So after waiting all this time, iMovie simply deleted the file the end without adding it to my event.  No error.  No joy and almost 13GB.

  • I just used stellar phoenix mac data recovery and it seemed to work but now my files won't open.  Even though they are "jpeg, mov" files the error message is  could not be opened. The movie's file format isn't recognized. "  Any help or are they corrupted

Sounds to me like the file is probably corrupt. If you had hard drive corruption or damage, that could easily result in recovered files not being fully intact. If you were trying to recover accidentally deleted files, it's possible they might have been partially overwritten before recovering. There are never any guarantees with file recovery.
Without more information on the circumstances that led you to try recovery, it's hard to give advice on what to try from here. You could always try another file recovery tool, like Data Rescue 3. Just be sure you're taking appropriate precautions when doing recovery. See Recovering deleted files.

  • .mov &/or .dv files not showing up in iMovie09 after import

I have an orginal file that is in the .mov format. I converted it to a .dv file due to not being able to import it into iMove '09.  It allows the import but it does not show up in any of the file areas as though it was imported.  I converted it to a mp4 but it became very pixleated. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

For MPEG1, you will need to convert it to a format that iMovie can edit.
Get a free tool called MPEG Streamclip.
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
Drag your MPEG1 clip into MPEG Streamclip. Then FILE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME. Choose Apple Intermediate Codec as the codec. Save it where you can find it. This will be an MOV file.
Now, in iMovie, use FILE/IMPORT MOVIE to import the clip you just made into iMovie.
