MOV-files created by camera,

Hi,
Some questions, I hope you can help:
1) What kind of MOV-file is created on disk after capturing footage from camera (Canon XH A1)?
2) Which type or settings should I use, to make the same kind of file from a FCP-sequence?
3) Which software should I use to explore information about video-files?
Thanks a lot

1. It depends how you captured, but it's usually an HDV file.
2. The corresponding settings as the media.
3. The movie inspector of the QuickTime player. You can also look in item properties in FCP.

  • Cutting MOV Files created by EOS cameras

    Hello,
I'm experiencing problems using Premiere Elements 8 to work with MOV files created by the Canon EOS 7D camera (Full HD 1920/30fps). Without rendering the files cannot be played and rendering takes hours. Impossible to work because even a simple 4 sec crossover blend between two scenes takes 15 min calculation time for rendering, without the possibility to check the crossover before. Premiere runs on a 2x2.26 GHz Laptop, 4GB RAM. Same problem also with another laptop. The current quicktime version has been installed.
I would be glad for some tipps, Thanks

HERE'S one on the 7D in PrE, with at least one link to another thread.
Happy reading. There's a lot of good suggestions in those. Pay special attention to the comments in the PrPro forum from Jeff Bellune. One poster, PaulineDC has both cameras and offers some observations. I'd look at her replies too. Also, look for links. Some will be to articles that I have already posted links to, but there should be several more.
    Good luck,

  • Importing movie files created with SONY HDR-TG5

Having trouble importing movie files created with this camera. Have had success importing direct from the camera using streamclip, but struggling with old files imported from our PC. These files have these two extensions; .modd and .m2ts

    Eric:
Thank you. MPEG Slipstream worked great.
Do you know if there is software available that would let me see what is in/copy the files in the Sony folder so that I might be able to copy the disk directly instead of having to copy the files off of it with Handbrake? Would having the QT add-on for the MPEG-2 playback component be helpful?
    Thanks again

  • After I import a movie file from the camera memory card, Imovie 10.0.1 acts as if the memory card is empty though I know it isn't.... I can't import that file to iMovie again.. is that the way it worksnow?  Thank you, Filippo

On IMac 10.9  After I import a movie file from the camera memory card to Imovie 10.0.1 it acts as if the memory card is empty though I know it isn't.... I can't import that file to iMovie again.. is that the way it works now?  Anyone know?  Thanks, Filippo

I would like to know this too. I imported a lot of files, then Imovie crashed. I went back in and they are not in imovie at all.
I reconnected the camcorder to import again and though they are still on the camcorder, I no longer see them in the available list of files to import. I'm sure there is some sort of simple setting somewhere that reveals all files even if it thinks they are imported.
    Thanks

  • Is there a way to load a movie file created using FlattenMovie() function ?

Is there a way to load a movie file created using FlattenMovie() function ? I tried with NewMovieFromFile() , everything went well but the movie video track somehow had been corrupted.
The thing is I could nicely convert the original Movie data structure using an export component. But the one I recreated after saving disk did not converted well ( It produced only sound ). Plz help I seached all over the documents to unerstand 'How to use flattened files' but could not.

  • HT1351 Why won't movie files from flip camera won't play on ipod even after being converted?

Why won't movie files from flip camera won't play on ipod even after being converted?

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • Help me capture stills from mov files of kodak camera created in pal format

I did not know the difference and saved movie files on my kodak digital camera as pal format - it was top of list - i need to capture some stills as single photos from those files. I have switched to NTSC format for future and will want to capture stills from movies in that format also
does anyone know if quicktime pro 7 will di what i want or what i need to reach my goal?

Even the free version of QT Player allows you to "copy" frames. These could be "pasted" into a new blank using any image editing software.
What ever frame is showing when you stop playback will be the one copied. More control by using the right left arrow keys.
The Pro upgrade can export a frame to many image formats. It doesn't matter that the format is PAL. NTSC and PAL are TV playback settings. Your computer doesn't care.

  • How To Delete .mov file Created In Quick Time

How do I delete an audio file created in Quick Time Player and saved in my Movies folder as a .mov file? I can't drag it to Trash, and I can't access the delete option in the Edit dropdown, and Help doesn't seem to cover that topic. It just puts the floating blue marker beside Select All, which seems to do nothing much.
    Many thanks.

Right click (Control click) and choose Move to Trash.

  • Can't move files - creates alias instead

When I try to move a file/folder elsewhere, it creates and alias instead of moving the file.
Yes, the folder I'm working under is in the Applications directory. I understand that this was something new added to 10.7
The problem is, I'm working with MAMP and my localhost folder (htdocs) is placed by default in Applications/MAMP/htdocs. After developing a site I'm needing to move the files to a new folder on my computer for archives. This seems to work sometimes, but mostly an alias is created.
How do I get around this issue and successfully move files from my htdocs folder?

If you hold the Command key down while moving, it will override the "Make Alias" automation and move the file instead. I don't know of any way to turn this "feature" off permanently, unfortunately, so you will have to hold Command each time you want to move a file of any type out of the Applications folder (or sub-folders).

  • How to: Save a movie file created in iMovie on iPhone4 and send it in an email with iPhone4

    Hello everyone.
I just wanted to know if it was possible to save a video/movie file to your iPhone4, that was created in iMovie'11 and then email it using the phone's wifi capability to contacts? I created the film in iMovie'11 and then shared it to iTunes and now i'm stuck. Please help. New at this and we're trying to figure this stuff out.
    Thanks.

I did try that BUT the DVD will NOT play in my dvd player. The large size 'share' option converted the imovie file into a m4v format. TOAST burned it okay but it won't open in the player.
Any other suggestions will be appreciated...

  • Opening .mov files created in iphoto

I have read a lot of the post on this subject, and I would like to narrow down exactly my issue with importing .mov files.
I have created a slide show in iphoto, I wanted to get it into imovie to add some titles. I am new to Mac so I paid for one to one sessions. I have been to 3 so far concerning video production.
I was told by my traininer to:
    created slide show in iphoto
    share it to iDVD
    import it back into iMovie
Seemed like a very back door way of doing things for an 'intergrated' brand new application, but then again I am new to MAC.
Well.. I tried it but the .mov files are not selectable. Same problem MANY are having.
Being that I started in an Apple / ilife application, I don't think we can blame it on a third party application or hardware.
Is there a solution on how to get my .mov files into imovie?
    Thanks,
    JWB

This all makes sense. My observation is that in iPhoto you have random transitions which is not available in iMovie08. I frequently put together slide shows of over 150 photos and the SAME transition over and over is a bit tidius. Random option is great.
Also, iPhoto has the ability for me to figure about how many songs I want for the number of slides, 'stitch' them together in garage band and then LET iPhoto do the hard work of making the slide's duration match the length of the movie.
I know I can accomplish both right in iMovie, but not nearly as easily.
I guess no such thing as a perfect product.
Thanks again, I'm learning because of you.

  • Mov file created in iDVD, iMovie or Quicktime doesn't open anymore in 10.10

    Hi,
Back when I had an iBook 10.4, I worked on video. Using iMovie and iDVD, I made some creations which I burned on a DVD as well as changed into .mov format.
Those days have gone. Later computers didn't have iDVD or iMovie anymore, or what was left was half the fun of what it was before.
The result is that it has been a long time since I worked with movies.
In the meantime I got a MacBook Pro and I have X Yosemite on it.
Now I'm finding those old projects again on an external hard drive that needs to be cleaned. But it's impossible to open them.
If I click on the iMovieProj-file it asks me to look in the App-store, but it can't find anything on there. If I select Choose Application, nothing works either. If I open iMovie in the applications folder, it has two things: a grey iMovie 9.0.9 folder which doesnt turn black, and a purple star that's also called iMovie 9.0.9. The purple star opens, but it can't open my iMovieproject files. Unsupported file formats.
All that was for the original imovie file itself. Now, for the .mov file that I created myself back in the days on my iBook with aplle software.
Those don't open either. Quick time can't open it (it says I need to install QT 7, but I already have QT 10.4; I clicked ok anyway and then QT quitted). VLC doesnt open it (it says VLC doesnt open the audio or videoformat dvau; unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this). Any Video Converter doesnt manage to convert it.
    So, what can I do?????

Very odd. If you like, you can send me a short clip and I can test it on my end.

  • Can't import .mov files from my camera into iPhoto

I am not able to import .mov files from my kodak camera into iPhoto. It says the file is not readable. Also, if there are any photos after the video file, those are said to be unreadable too, even if I select just the photots for import. I tried to import the .mov file with image capture as well, and that gave me an import error also. I can view the file fine on my camera and iPhoto and image capture both will give me the properties of the video file but will not import. I have imported .miv files before with no trouble. I have tried several different files with the same results. Even tried different memory cards. Not sure how to get this file on my computer or why there is a problem all of the sudden.
    Thanks.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
What model of Kodak is it?
There is a discussion thread on this topic: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11942367&#11942367
Try using a media card reader (sometimes built into printers) to see if that allows the import. Others seem to report having luck by importing the movies off the card using a different computer, deleting them, and then importing the pictures.
    Hope that helps.

  • My Macbook won't play movie files from my camera.

My girlfriend and I just recently bought a Macbook and love it. However, for some reason when we import movies from our camera to our Macbook, we can't get them to play, no matter what media program we use. The camera, which is a Sony CyberShot DSC-W30, saves the movie files to MPEG format. We cannot get the movie files to play in Quicktime, iTunes, and I even downloaded VLC media player (which I heard would play almost any format), and still no luck. However, the videos for some reason will play when we open them through iPhoto, but that's it. How do I solve this problem?

Thanks to all who responded to my problem. After toying around with it for a while, I ended up finding out my problem was very easy to solve, and I'm not sure why I didn't realize it sooner. I was importing the videos from my camera through iPhoto, and I suppose that somehow messed up the video file when I did that way. So I simply copied the videos directly from the camera, and pasted them to the hard drive, without the use of a third party accessory to import them, and they work just fine now. Thanks to all that helped.

  • Can hear but not view .mov files from digital camera

My daughter has a Samsung Digimax camera which takes video in MPEG-4 format (.mov). Since upgrading Quicktime, we can hear the video but not see it. The screen is black. I made sure I upgraded to the latest version of Quicktime (7.1.6). I have tried "Safe mode" as recommended in another post and I still get the audio but now the video is white. The movie info says "Apple MPEG4 Decompressor, 320 x 240". We were able to view all her videos with no problems before the QT upgrade.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
How big are the files? iPhoto won't import large files from your camera. As Larry says, move them to the desktop with Image Capture and import to iPhoto from there.
