Mov files not appearing in m2v

Hi.
I encoded a 10min video via compressor for a client. It took 2hrs to compress which was the first sign that something was wrong. Once brought into DVDSP, I noticed that the .mov file of the opening & closing animation was not there - just black w/ audio.
Any ideas? I have to redo the clients DVD on Monday & I'm hoping I'll know how to fix this problem. I was working of the client's FCP 5.0.
Thanks in advance!
Heather

  • MOV files not streaming

I have a few MOV files in my iTunes library. Along with these MOV files are several movies purchased from iTunes. I stream my movies and music to my ATV (photos are synched so I can view thumbnails etc..)
From my ATV, I am able to access all of the purchased movies but I can't access the MOV files - again, the MOV files are appearing under 'Movies' in iTunes and I'm able to play them from iTunes without a problem --- just not visable on my ATV 'My Movies' menu.

do the files fall within the limits of video (below).. play in iTunes and Quicktime do not guarantee the file will play on appleTV.. appleTV has limits on files since they need to be access via streaming over wireless in many cases, so it makes sense to set some limits on files size, data rate etc..
    *Video formats supported*
*H.264 and protected H.264 (from iTunes Store):* Up to 5 Mbps, Progressive Main Profile (CAVLC) with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 1280 by 720 pixels at 24 fps, 960 by 540 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
*iTunes Store purchased video:* 320 by 240 pixels, 640 by 480 pixels, 720 by 480 pixels (anamorphic), or high-definition 720p
MPEG-4: Up to 3 Mbps, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 720 by 432 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

  • I am having issues with Sidebar files not appearing from within InDesign CS5.5. They show up fine from other Adobe applications. Using OS10.6.8.

I am having issues with Sidebar files not appearing from within InDesign CS5.5. They show up fine from other Adobe applications. Using OS10.6.8.

I would first of all trash the preference file for InDesign, make sure the application is closed then find the prefs in
/Users/USER NAME/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign and just throw the entire folder away, it will generate a new one after you launch InDesign again.
Now launch InDesign and see if the problems are resolved.
If not I would repair your permissions on your hard drive wih disk utility, and if that fails then di-install InDesign and re-install that single application.
Let me know if any of these suggestions work for you
I will be checking my email although you might have to wait for a response as I will be taking a microlight flight over the Victoria Falls tomorrow. Yay can hardly wait.

  • FTP publishing on iWeb to replace existing site - files not appearing.

On iWeb, I used FTP publishing to replace my existing site files, then deleted the original files but not only has the new site files not appeared in my public html folder but I get the message:The requested URL /www.geofflevitus.com was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Founderror was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

but I get the message:The requested URL /www.geofflevitus.com was not found on this server.
That's an indication that the index.html file that is created alongside the site folder by iWeb is missing.
Try publishing your site to a folder on your hard driive and use a 3rd part ftp client like the free  Cyberduck to upload the site folder and the index.html file.
Cyberduck or Transmit will let you view your server folder in a Finder like window where you can see which files are missing.

  • RSC Files Not Appearing in RH Project Manager

My three-writer group has experienced a number of RoboHelp/RoboSource Control problems in the last week.
    First this is our setup:
    1. Two writers with 64-bit Windows 7, and one with 32-bit Win 7. We all have the latest patches and updates.
    2. Our RSC database is on a remote machine that has 32-bit Win XP.
After a time where our group successfully updated our project, I was given a new laptop with Win 7 (I had previously had a 32-bit Win XP desktop), we have now encountered the following problems:
    1. No one can open a RH project from version control. We go through all steps and when we open the XPJ icon it finally crashes after taskbar status messages of something like "Querying version control." It thus crashes at one of the final steps in opening a project from the database.
    2. Even on our remote machine, I cannot open a RH project from version control.
    3. For some unknown period of time, it appears that the three of us have not had our changes uploading to the database because nobody's desktop RH project looks the same. Out of the three of us, I have many--but not all--of my changes up at RSC. I have no idea where my colleagues' changes went.
    4. An unspecified number of files are listed in RSC as well in the File Status pod in RH but they are NOT appearing in the Project Manager pod. If I try to move one image file with the same name into a folder where the original should be, RH displays an error message saying that it already exists there--even though I cannot see it in Project Manager nor interface with it.
I have used RH for 11 years but RSC for just 1-2. I have never seen behavior like this before and it's really brought our entire OLH efforts to a halt. Can anyone tell me what I might do to restore, if not the database, a version of the XPJ that has as many of our changes that DID make it to RSC?
    Thank You,
    Chris

I have amended the title of the thread for the simple reason that I don't do source control. I guess you've just added another reason why.
Sorry but I cannot help you on this one.

  • Movie does not appear in Media Browser

I attempted to share a large movie file via Media Browser. It's about two hours of photos, movies and music. My iMac spent about 8 hours rendering (not sure if that's the correct word) overnight. All appeared well this morning, but in the Med Browser it says my movie has not been prepared for sharing. In the iMovie Projects folder, I displayed Package Contents. The folder within that for Movies had no apparent content though the Get Info shows it to be 11+ GB.
    Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you read 'Preparing your Final Cut Express or Final Cut Pro movie to work with iDVD' at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/6652.html
Note it ends by saying "A QuickTime file that references your Final Cut Pro movie is created on your hard disk. This is the file you will add to your iDVD project. When you are ready to add it to your iDVD project, you can simply drag the file from your hard disk directly into iDVD. "
It also applies to Final Cut Express.
That's what you need to do - drag the file from your hard disk directly into iDVD

  • Rented movies are not appearing in Videos app

I rented 2 movies on my iPad and neither of them are showing up in the Videos app.
iTunes tells me I've already rented the movies but I can't find them anywhere on my iPad.
    Any ideas?

A long shot, but try restarting your iPad (hold down the Sleep button until you get the red "swipe to power off" button, do so, and start it back up). That sometimes gets the files to appear. If not, and no one else here has other suggestions, go here:
    iTunes Support
and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.

  • New movies files not working properly

    Hello,
I have a new all in one HP pc with Windows 8. I have completed all pc updates and including latest Java. I have downloaded Itunes 12 and imported my old Itunes library from my network drive. My itunes library was created on an XP system and I still have it mapped to my Network Drive as it is 2TB in size.
The library contents are all fine and everything works. My problem is now any new movies m4v, mp4 which I import does not work. Itunes will upload the files, which then appear in the Home Video section. When I try to add artwork, or move file into 'movies' or even play the film Itunes goes into 'Not Responding' and I have to shut it down from from task menu. This issues only occurs with new movies. New music is fine.
I have tried to use alternative compatibility option none of these work.
Does anybody know how I can get my new movie content to work? btw the files are good as I have tried them on another system and they work just fine.
    Thanks

    anybody have any ideas?

  • MOV files not streaming to ATV

I copied a few videos that we took on our itouch to my PC and they come across as MOV files.  I then added these to my itunes library. They appear in the library; however, they are not streaming to the ATV.  I started testing a few things and noticed that other formats such at MPEG-4 works fine.  I took a few of the MOV files that I imported from the itouch - converted to MPEG-4 and now it works fine streaming to the ATV.
I would think that if videos are recorded as MOV files on the itouch that this would easily synch with the ATV.  Is this not the case?   Am I going to have to convert MOV files to MPEG-4 in order to stream to the ATV?

They would work on the newer model as well as having the ability to airplay directly from the iPod. I have posted the compatibility for the 1st ATV
H.264 and protected H.264 (from iTunes Store): Up to 5 Mbps, Progressive Main Profile (CAVLC) with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 1280 by 720 pixels at 24 fps, 960 by 540 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
iTunes Store purchased video: 320 by 240 pixels, 640 by 480 pixels, 720 by 480 pixels (anamorphic), or high-definition 720p
MPEG-4: Up to 3 Mbps, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 720 by 432 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

  • Greyed-out movie file not syncing

I imported a short MP4 video file into iTunes 10 for Windows. (An old educational short from RiffTrax if you're interested) It appears in iTunes okay and plays fine, but when I attempt to sync my iPhone 4, the title for that video file is greyed out on the Movies page. I have iTunes set to sync unwatched movie files, and this method has always worked for me before: download the file, move it to my movies folder, drag it into iTunes, edit the tags, and sync the device. Any ideas?

The movie files are syncing again. It must've been something with the one that started it.

  • Backup device file not appearing in iTunes Device Preferences

While performing 1st time backup for my iPad to iTunes MacBook, the process was interrupted halfway through. As such, I deleted the registered backup file from iTunes Devices Preferences/device/device backup and attempted to reinitiate the backup process. I have to restart MacBook because the iTunes File/Devices turns grey and I am not able to click on it. Restarting gets me to inititiate the back up and transfer purchase. The problem now the device name is not appearing at iTunes Devices Preferences/device/device backup. I am not sure if the backup is successful/complete and if so where is the files? How do I make the file appear so I can transfer the data / apps to my new ipad air via iTunes. Pls help...

  • Imported .mov files not showing up in IMovie

I downloaded 6-7 .mov files yesterday.   All fairly short 5-10 second clips.  The first 3 imported just fine and showed up in IMovie where I am editing a movie.
Afterwards, when I selected "import" the computer responded the same way, as if it was importing, creating thumbnails, etc and the video shows up in finder in the right place but it does not show up in IMovie and I cannot use it in my movie.
I selected "show all clip" and still they do not show up
I tried importing to iPhoto first and then to iMovie but it still does not show up.   It does the same thing - acts like it is importing, creating thumbnails etc.
THe first three that I did are still there, just fine.

Thanks for responding. These videos were shot on a colleague's camera then loaded to an FTP server for me to download. I have them as MP4s (though I've tried to import them after converting to .mov and .avi, still to no avail).
I've loaded them into iPhoto, but still nothing shows up in iMovie when I click the "iPhoto Videos" tab. It's like iMovie can't see them, even though I can see and play them when I go back to iPhoto.
One other point of interest: I tried the same process in my older version of iMovie HD, and there they would load only as audio.
    I'm flummoxed.

  • .mov Files not working in Mac but working on Windows

I use a Kodak 10MP digital camera to click. I use it to shoot some videos too.
I had some videos taken earlier on the camera and used to view them on windows. Just bought a Macbook a few days ago, and all those videos worked fine (transfered using an external drive). But there is something I m so confused with now.
All the videos I shoot now, iPhoto does not import (hangs). I copied the video to windows where I could see all easily, and copied it to a pen drive. But sadly even trying to open them on pen drive doesn't work. It says its not a .mov file (dimension: -- --) whereas earlier videos be it 640x480 or HD worked fine. Do note videos are working on Windows. I have Quicktime 10.0 and player 7 installed.
    Please help.

    Won't you mid it AMAZING
Windows Quicktime and VLC are playing the files easily. Mac OS X is not. aren't mov files exclusive to Apple?
There are no picture settings on the camera (heck the camera is so bad you can't do anything even on trying). How is this possible that old videos worked and new aren't. I can't even sleep until I understand.
Already feeling going the Mac way wasn't the right choice. Should have stuck with Windows.

  • Many of my purchesed movies do not appear in iTunes

I checked my puurchased account. Over the past year or so I purchased at least 14 movies that are listed in my account. At one time they were all listed in iTunes in the Movie section. Now only half show up there. The movies not on the iTunes movies list but on the iPad (and on the list of purchased movies), can not be removed from the iPad to free up space bnecause they are not listed in iTunes any more.
Is that clear? Any help will be appreciated.

    Hello jaiwill,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. Sorry to that there is an issue with some of your purchased songs.  First, I recommend trying to delete the problematic songs and redownload the songsfrom your past purchases.

  • .mov files not playing properly in Premiere Pro

    Hey!
I'm new to setting up projects in Premiere, but I have the newest version (2014) of the software, and I'm having problems playing back files within the software. These are .mov files, taken on a Canon mark 3 primarily, and while some files play back fine, others black out the video or grab a random frame and hold it while the audio plays back smoothly. The clips play fine when I open in Quicktime.
I assume this is is a codec problem or something? I have no idea about codecs. Please help! I really appreciate it.
    Thank you.

I believe that those MOV files are using the H.264 CODEC. You will need to have that installed (comes with later versions of Apple's QT), but even then, might not work in PrPro 1.5. I just do not recall if it supported H.264.
For a bit more background on file formats, this ARTICLE might be useful. For a bit more on CODEC's in general, this ARTICLE might be useful.
Good luck, and hope that PrPro 1.5 does handle H.264.
