.mov files not converting or transfering

I uploaded a .mov video onto itunes and tried putting it on my ipod but it said the format wasn't right. So, then I highlight it and go to "convert for ipod" and after it "finishes" converting, I try uploading it again but it still says it can't use the format (I check the info on the file and it's still a .mov). Can someone help me here?

  • X2-02 camera issues - .nrw files not converting to...

I've got X2-02 and am experiencing the same problem on this link: http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Cseries/C2-02-camera-issues-nrw-files-not-converting-to-jpeg-files/m...
I tried all of the tricks mentioned and nothing became fruitful in converting the files to jpeg (viewable on PC).
Anyone who has a solution to this, kindly post it here...!

    Welcome to Nokia Discussions!
Try this online image convertion site: http://bit.ly/1dyiDQm
Or try sending the .nrw files to another bluetooth capable phone and see if it does convert the file to jpeg after receiving it.
    Good luck

  • Imported .mov files not showing up in IMovie

I downloaded 6-7 .mov files yesterday.   All fairly short 5-10 second clips.  The first 3 imported just fine and showed up in IMovie where I am editing a movie.
Afterwards, when I selected "import" the computer responded the same way, as if it was importing, creating thumbnails, etc and the video shows up in finder in the right place but it does not show up in IMovie and I cannot use it in my movie.
I selected "show all clip" and still they do not show up
I tried importing to iPhoto first and then to iMovie but it still does not show up.   It does the same thing - acts like it is importing, creating thumbnails etc.
THe first three that I did are still there, just fine.

Thanks for responding. These videos were shot on a colleague's camera then loaded to an FTP server for me to download. I have them as MP4s (though I've tried to import them after converting to .mov and .avi, still to no avail).
I've loaded them into iPhoto, but still nothing shows up in iMovie when I click the "iPhoto Videos" tab. It's like iMovie can't see them, even though I can see and play them when I go back to iPhoto.
One other point of interest: I tried the same process in my older version of iMovie HD, and there they would load only as audio.
    I'm flummoxed.

  • .mov Files not working in Mac but working on Windows

I use a Kodak 10MP digital camera to click. I use it to shoot some videos too.
I had some videos taken earlier on the camera and used to view them on windows. Just bought a Macbook a few days ago, and all those videos worked fine (transfered using an external drive). But there is something I m so confused with now.
All the videos I shoot now, iPhoto does not import (hangs). I copied the video to windows where I could see all easily, and copied it to a pen drive. But sadly even trying to open them on pen drive doesn't work. It says its not a .mov file (dimension: -- --) whereas earlier videos be it 640x480 or HD worked fine. Do note videos are working on Windows. I have Quicktime 10.0 and player 7 installed.
    Please help.

    Won't you mid it AMAZING
Windows Quicktime and VLC are playing the files easily. Mac OS X is not. aren't mov files exclusive to Apple?
There are no picture settings on the camera (heck the camera is so bad you can't do anything even on trying). How is this possible that old videos worked and new aren't. I can't even sleep until I understand.
Already feeling going the Mac way wasn't the right choice. Should have stuck with Windows.

  • .mov files not playing

So I've transferred pictures and video from my iPhone 4s and 5 to my Windows based computer running Windows 7. I attempted to play the video's in WMP and it wouldn't play the .mov files. After a search, I downloaded QuickTime as the recommended player for .mov files. Now, the files open in QuickTime and display the video I'm about to play; however, when I play the video it plays then stops as if the video is only one frame. I used the movie inspector and it shows the following:
    Source: E:\iphoto\video0035.3gp
Format: Photo - Jpeg, 583x1036, millions
When I click on details for the video file this is what I see:
    Please help.

Hello, your attached screenshot doesn't load so I can't see what's on it. Anyway, maybe converting .mov file that you can't play fine is a good choice to try. If you decided to have a try, you can start off with the free trial version of iorgsoft video converter.

  • .mov file not accepted by FCP

I'm trying to import a quicktime movie file into FCP, but I keep getting an error message:
File Error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown.
Why don't they write these error codes so you actually know what the heck is going on?

Could be a couple of things, actually. Don't fall into the conversion trap that most editors do. If you have to convert something back and forth just to edit it, you're wasting all of your time.
First: make sure it's not some sort of permissions issue. Get info on the file, unlock it, and make sure read/write for ALL users is enabled, then don't lock it back. Try again.
Then, check the codec and all other info on the clip. Post that info. Check your Libraries/Quicktime against the info on your clip. Chances are, if you don't have FCP 6+ you don't have a lot of the HDV codecs installed. The "Apple HDV Component.component" fixes a LOT of this sort of thing.
Also- when you preview the clip in the Finder, do you get a picture? does it play? If not, you're going to need new codecs.
FCP is a PRO APP. It should be able to recognize and cut any piece of video out there. The trick is it's a plug-in architecture based on Quicktime. Quicktime is also a Plug-in architecture. If all the libraries to handle the video are in place, it doesn't matter which FCP you have, it just so happens that 6+ is the release written after a lot of the HDV codecs went live in cameras.
Hope this helps! I know not a lot of this information is public!!

  • MOV Files Not Loading to Mobile Me

    Hi There,
I have downloaded a few clips from YouTube that I have converted to MOV files to use with Quicktime. When I try to publish my site to Mobile Me, however, I receive an error message saying that there is a problem with the clips. Am I doing something wrong?
I would use the YouTube widget to embed the videos, but my school blocks YouTube, so my students would not be able to see the clips.
Also, will students using PCs be able to see the clips if they are MOV?
    Thanks!

I use MOV to edit movies, add effects, add mask, trim, crop, etc. in QuickTime Pro.
Then I export the movie to iPhone/iPod = h.264/aac with the .m4v extension.
Works on Mac and PC without a problem.
PC users need QuickTime installed or Flash if you use a Flash Video player.

Don't be misled by the title. It works equally well in iWeb.
You may have to learn HTML/CSS/JavaScript.

  • MOV files not streaming to ATV

I copied a few videos that we took on our itouch to my PC and they come across as MOV files.  I then added these to my itunes library. They appear in the library; however, they are not streaming to the ATV.  I started testing a few things and noticed that other formats such at MPEG-4 works fine.  I took a few of the MOV files that I imported from the itouch - converted to MPEG-4 and now it works fine streaming to the ATV.
I would think that if videos are recorded as MOV files on the itouch that this would easily synch with the ATV.  Is this not the case?   Am I going to have to convert MOV files to MPEG-4 in order to stream to the ATV?

They would work on the newer model as well as having the ability to airplay directly from the iPod. I have posted the compatibility for the 1st ATV
H.264 and protected H.264 (from iTunes Store): Up to 5 Mbps, Progressive Main Profile (CAVLC) with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 1280 by 720 pixels at 24 fps, 960 by 540 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
iTunes Store purchased video: 320 by 240 pixels, 640 by 480 pixels, 720 by 480 pixels (anamorphic), or high-definition 720p
MPEG-4: Up to 3 Mbps, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 720 by 432 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

  • Quicktime Movie File not syncing

Hi have just recently purchased an Apple TV and love the functionality of it, but I cannot seem to sync the movie files from iphoto which were taken from a digital camera. The files are described in itunes as 'Quicktime Movie File' but it seems to only sync MPEG4.
What happened to the slogan - 'if its in itunes, its in Apple TV'?
I have not experienced this yet!
    Help!
    Thanks,
    Jarrod

Yea, that slogan is a little overboard.
You will definitely need to convert anything you want to watch to MPEG4 if it isn't already, and (further) it needs to meet the specifications of what ATV will play (that is to say, ATV won't play any MPEG4 but one that falls within the parameters it can handle. Luckily they are broad and reasonable parameters).
Your best bet is to right click on the movie in iTunes and choose "Convert to Apple TV". That ought to do it.

  • Importing a movie file--not from a camera

I have an MPEG movie file with an mpg extension that I need to import into iMovie 09. When I browse to the folder where this movie is located, it is grayed out and can't be imported. It is standard mpeg 2 file for DVD.
Is this file format no supported in iMovie for importing?

iMovie does not support MPEG2 format. You will first have to convert the video to another format supported (MPEG4 or DV for example) to be able to import it. You might try MPEG Streamclip.

  • .mov files dont convert.

I have a .mov file in which i drag into Forty-TwoDVD-VXPlus, and it will not convert. It just says its finished in 0.00 seconds.
    Anyone else get this?
    *nathan

    hey guys!
Not sure if I can be any help but I have the Video Ipod as well and my main problem was converting all my MPG videos to Video Ipod.
I finally figured out HOW TO DO THIS. All my MPG videos are now in my Video Ipod. Three things will be needed; VLC; FREE / QUICKTIME PRO; $29.99 / AND MPEG 2; $19.99 [Both from APPLE Site] LOTS OF SETTINGS need to be set though in VLC.
Open file in VLC it exports it AGAIN into .mov, once coded you open up file in QUICKTIME PRO and EXPORT it to .M4V, THE MPEG 2 decoder thing is what you probably need; it didnt work for me with out it.
Once the EXPORT is done, your new video should be in .M4V FORMAT AND DRAG to the video ipod while in itunes.
again, hope this helps you all. if you need anyfurther details, i can be reached at [email protected]

  • .mov files not playing properly in Premiere Pro

    Hey!
I'm new to setting up projects in Premiere, but I have the newest version (2014) of the software, and I'm having problems playing back files within the software. These are .mov files, taken on a Canon mark 3 primarily, and while some files play back fine, others black out the video or grab a random frame and hold it while the audio plays back smoothly. The clips play fine when I open in Quicktime.
I assume this is is a codec problem or something? I have no idea about codecs. Please help! I really appreciate it.
    Thank you.

I believe that those MOV files are using the H.264 CODEC. You will need to have that installed (comes with later versions of Apple's QT), but even then, might not work in PrPro 1.5. I just do not recall if it supported H.264.
For a bit more background on file formats, this ARTICLE might be useful. For a bit more on CODEC's in general, this ARTICLE might be useful.
Good luck, and hope that PrPro 1.5 does handle H.264.

  • Old .mov files not viewable in qt for 10.4.3

i have several quicktime (.mov) files from a digital camera that work fine in 10.3.9 with qt 7.0.1. i recently bought a new powerbook and the video portion of the movies is not displayed (audio is ok). any ideas?...

worked perfectly, thanks! (when i checked my old pb's scavenged hd the quicktime folder had several codecs not found in the new one-must have been installed with various hardware drivers, i guess.)
    thanks!

  • File not converting correctly

I downloaded a file several time to convert PDF to Excel.  The first line of the file is converted correctly and all subsequent lines are put in column A only and not separating into columns A thru F.

  • Part of Excel file not converting

I am batch creating Excel files to PDF using Adobe Acrobat Pro (9).  My settings are such that all tabs convert, but I have "parts" of one of the worksheet tabs that do not fully create.  In my Excel settings I am repeating columns A-D on each page and then approximately 5 columns of additional data show.  However, in certain documents I only get the first 3 pages.  I have done this successfully on another similar document template, and don't see any differences in the file page settings.  Does anyone have a suggestion for how to ensure that Adobe "sees" all the columns in the sheet?  Or, is there something I have done differently in the two templates and what is it?
I have hundreds of files to convert.

Upon further review, the other template  is also not publishing correctly.  If there are any number of pages past 3 that are required, the file will always be short, but by differing amounts.  (Some files may be short 5, others are short 4).  I have tried setting my default printer to Adobe and printing from Windows Explorer and choosing Convert to PDF from the right click menu (also in Explorer), but both these options will only convert the current page, not the entire workbook.
I am DESPERATE for a solution!
