MOV imports get cropped in CS5. Help.

I imported footage from my iphone (MOV files). On Premiere Pro, the footage is cropped all around. How do I fix this? Oh, I have no idea about settings, where to find them or what any of the configurations mean. thank you,

Thanks, I've been on those. I have never had importing issues, since I have always imported from a camcorder. Once imported, I'm good to go. I just don't want it to crop imported footage from the iphone. I have something I need to edit tonight. Any help would be helpful. I've already scanned help questions for 90 minutes...
I have Windows 8, CS 5.5, and latest Quicktime.

IPhoto library size and movie imports - getting HUGE!

In iPhoto 08- (in my primary library) I have 23,000 photos, and about 300 movies (some MPEG) from an older Sony digicam, and now I have a Canon Powershot TX1 which is a flash based still digicam/720P HD camcorder that captures very large AVI's (depending on shot length, they range from 30MB to 400-500MB). I know I can choose on import to not bring them into iPhoto, and just bring in the still shots. However, it does make it easy to bring them into iPhoto along with the still pics, but I am concerned about the growing size of my 45GB library (1 of 3 libraries - I have not been splitting them up in the last couple of years, relying on the fact that iPhoto is stable with very large libraries- and going to enable a Time Capsule w/ Time Machine very soon). Time Capsule would save me here, right? Am I playing with fire here on the library size, and setting myself up for a crash?? There are so many downsides to multiple libraries when it comes to projects, searches, imports, etc. I'd love to know that I can safely stick with one.
Wondering also if I should NOT import the movies into iPhoto, and keep them seperate? The benefit to doing this, is that we can post MULTIPLE movies to the .Mac gallery at the same time, and have them appear as seperate movies...whereas in iMovie 08, if I put a bunch of clips into a project to post to .Mac gallery, it compiles them as a single movie - which is, many times, not what we want.
Any advice here is greatly appreciated!!!

You might consider creating a separate library for the movies and see if that will speed up your primary library. If you needed a movie in an album to create a web gallery you could put it in an album in the Movie Library and copy that album to your working library.
A lot of iPhoto's quickness depends on both CPU power, RAM and free space on your boot drive. I would imagine your iMac would be your primary iPhoto machine and it should meet the CPU and memory criteria. How about your free space?
Time Machine is a very good backup device in my experience. Depending on how big your backup drive is and how much you're backing up, you can go back in time a fair amount. I've got a 750 GB TM drive backing up my boot drive and one external. It now goes back 5 1/2 weeks for me.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Importing mov files in premiere pro cs5

I just installed Adobe Creative Suite 5 Master Collection on my machine and now, i have two issues.
1. I do have the latest quicktime installed but when i try to import *.mov files with audio, only the audio is imported and works fine. the video isn't, but I dont get a dialogue error box.
A). if the *.mov file has only video, i get a file import failure message saying " the file has no audio or video streams".
2. the next prob is my dymanic linking does not work.

Im trying something and I hope you can help me. I have two computers, one dedicated to capturing a event and the other I have is dedicated to playback. They share the hard drive via a network. What I want to know is- is there a way for the dedicated playback machine to access a video file that is still being captured by the capturing machine and play back parts of it in a sequence??

Zone Alarm, eh? I used to use that program, but it got in the way of almost everything that I did, that I canned it completely.
Glad that removing ZA solved your issue.
Personally, I find MOV Animation CODEC to be quite good, and use that for a lot of work. Jeff Bellune, here, like the Photo JPEG format, but I have not explored that.

Good news is, that I have simply imported both files in the past without any troubles. So I hope it is something very simple.
Maybe I have somewhere codec installed in the past (k-light) and something now doesn't work that well anymore.
But I don't know if I have done this anymore and a desktop search didn't deliver me any results.

I've installed Premiere Pro now on a different windows7 platform.
Still the same. Can't import the mpg file. Somehow the mov file works here so that is something.
Anyway I thought maybe it is helpful to share some data about the video:

Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 6* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

You need to transfer the iTunes Library from the most recent backup you made before the hard drive was replaced.
You can't transfer the full iTunes Library from the iPad back to iTunes.
There are third-party Windows applications that will transfer data from an iOS device, but they don't re-create the iTunes Library exactly as it was before.

Movie gets cropped on HDTVs

I have created a movie in Final Cut Pro X and then burned a DVD disk in iDVD. The movie shows the whole 16:9 frame on the computer and a CRT TV. The movie gets cropped on the two HDTVs I have tested it on. The DVD players have be set to their default seetings. When I place a DVD such as one from Netflix nothings gets cropped, so I am at a loss as to what is happening to my DVD
The two HDTVs I have tested on cropped the movie differntly. On one just the left and right side are cropped, not the top and bottom. On the other tv the cropping is equal on all sides.
The size of the movie is 1920 x 1080. Video Mode = NTSC. Aspect Ration = 16:9. Encoding = Proffessional Quality. Movie length = 17 minutes

After posting the above I saw in "More Like This" a possible solution in myDVDEdit. So I am going to check it out and see if it can solve this problem.
The people who work on iDVD should be aware of this issue and fix it.

I am listening to embedded training files on the Quick Time player (I think). They cannot be copied to protect the information. You only have the option of listening. I used to be able to click on the Q in the audio strip and it would provide a diagonal arrow and this would allow me to expand the bar to a full screen. I then had the bar which would allow me to navigate in case I wanted to listen again or in case I wanted to move forward. After my upgrade, I can no longer expand the strip to a full screen with the adjuster. Now I have not chance to take a break in listening to these audios and most of them are at least an hour long. Thanks for your help.

Vob videos get cropped in Premiere Pro CC upon importing

At importing Vob videos (format 720 x 576) they get cropped to 520 x 576.
I tried with various videos and it happened with all of them.
This seems to be a premiere pro CC bug as it doesn't happen in Premiere Pro CS6, where they import fine.

I read the link you posted and I have also posted a bug report.
The cropping happens at the importing, not at the sequence editing or exporting. It is the source video that is cropped when imported.

Not sure why, but when I import a bunch of png images they are getting cropped whey I try to play them or export them to a movie. Any ideas why?

I instralled the After Effects trial program and it was running okay for a few days, then I was hit with a warning to reinstall plugins. How to reinstall plugin Media Core CFHD AVI importer 32 and MOV importer 32.pm?

Has anyone figure this out?
I started getting this after installing GoPro Studio 2.
Uninstalling it and even deleting the plugins manually didn't work, and neither did reinstalling AE.
All I could get was stop getting the error message at start-up but the problem is that any .AVI file that I import only plays audio, no video.
Please, any help appreciated.

Movies Imported from iMovies to iTunes impossible to rename

Hi,
I want to watch my movies from Front Row. This application goes to the Movies section in iTunes to access the files that I've imported to iTunes from my iMovie folder. So far so good.
However, because when I "add to library" in iTunes a movie that I've made in iMovies the movie is imported as "small" or "medium" it remains tagged as that in the iTunes movie library.
When I look for movies via Front Row I get a load of movies titled small or medium. Is their any way to rename the files in iTunes? In iTunes you can't do that - or I don't know how. I tried to rename the files by first having them open in Finder (which does allow you to rename them) but then Front Row doesn't see any content in the file and won't replay a renamed movie !!!

Fast moving objects get "cropped"

I have got this annoying problem with Flash. Whenever I tween an object fast across the screen the part which points to the direction of the movement of the object gets cropped.
Here is an example:
The circle is moving across the screen roughly 3 times every second and as you can see, the front has magically disappeared for some reason. Same thing happens for objects moving slower aswell but the cropped off part is smaller. I could not printscreen this as the screen pauses on the current frame when you do that so that is why I used an external camera. Updating my graphic card drivers has not solved the problem.
Has anyone else ever had this problem?
Any help is appreciated.

the only other options for you are:
1. optimize the performance of your swf, in general. (a complex topic for advanced developers.) but the simplest performance enhancement would be to enable the cacheAsBitmap properties of all other objects that would benefit.
2. upgrade your computer's graphics capabilities.
3. ignore the problem if it only occurs on computers that have such limited capabilites that it's not likely to impact many users.
