.mov plays in QT, loses video in iTunes

I have a few .mov files that play fine in quicktime, but when i import them into iTunes so that i can watch on iPads and Apple TV, the video for most of the middle section goes black. Audio plays fine.
Any workarounds?

If the videos are having issues with playback, then try creating another version for iPad and Apple TV. All you have to do is select the video in iTunes, go to the drop down menu File > Create New Version > Create iPad or Apple TV Version, wait for the conversion and then sync over the new version or play it on your iPad or Apple TV

Unable to play any type of video on iTunes

I currently have iTunes 11.0.5.5 running on a 64-bit version of Windows 7. My problem is that whenever I try to play any type of video file including Movies and Music Videos, iTunes freezes. I can not do anything to it. I can't even close iTunes, I can only close iTunes by using the Task Manager.
This problem has been going on since iTunes was in version 10. I have already tried unistalling and reinstalling, but that didn't do anything to it.
I do not know how or why this happend, but I need a solution to fix this problem.

IPad video downloads don't play all of the video from iTunes

This is the second time this has happend to me with video downloads. I recently rented a movie on itunes (on my ipad) set to download over night and the next day while watching it with my wife about half way through the movie it stop playing.
I reset the ipad and nothing happends - still the same problem. Now again it is happening with a tv episode I downloaded. Plays about 1/3 of the show then stops playing. It seems as though the entire episode didnt download but itunes says it does because it no longer shows as downloading. Is there any way to redownload the video without having to pay for it again? I've looked online for answers to this question for a good few hours and have uncovered nothing! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Could it be that the rental expired?
What videos were they and were they SD or HD?
You can try testing on another Wi-Fi network, to rule out connection issues.
You may have to email the iTunes Store.

Move video from iTunes to external HD and then delete from internal HD?

How do I move certain TV shows and movies from my iTunes library (stored on my internal HD) to a new external HD (it's a 500GB WD Passport Studio)? I want to free up some space on my computer so after I transfer the videos to my external HD I plan on deleting the originals. If I do this, will I be able to easily plug in my external HD and play the transferred videos on iTunes without any problems?
I've searched all over for an easy answer to this but can't find any. Please help! Help of ANY kind would be amazing!

iTunes doesn't really have a way to move only TV/movies. It can only move the whole shebang - music, podcasts, TV, movies, apps, all of it.
It moves it all when you run the consolidate command.
If you only want to move a few things, you can move the TV/movies yourself using Windows Explorer. This will make itunes lose the paths. You would then have to right-click>Get Info on the items you moved, and browse to their new locations, so itunes knows where they are.
If you are moving a lot of files, it might be easier to
- delete them in itunes
- move the files using Win Exp
- re-add them to itunes
The drawback to this method is losing ratings, play counts, and date added metadata. But you wouldn't have to re-locate them for itunes one-by-one.

Quicktime 7 not playing videos from Itunes...

So recently I noticed my Quicktime 7 has been acting strange. It used to play all my videos flawlessly... it still does, although i've noticed movies bought from the itunes store wont play anymore. When I try to open the file on QT 7 I get the black screen but then It exits out and I get the "Quicktime 7 Has Quit Unexpectedly" and I get the Kern_Protection_Failure log ( whatever that is) It's weird, before every file i tried worked perfectly, but now I cant get them to play.... Is There any fix to this or has Quicktime 7 completely stopped supporting movies/videos from Itunes? ******Oh, by the way They DO however play in Quicktime X****** I''m running 2009 macbook pro 13-inch OSX 10.6.8 and All software is up to date. I made the unfortunate mistake of upgrading my ipod touch to ios 6 and then had to update itunes. Lots and lots of issues with that, losing my library, not able to add what was already on my ipod to itunes, and I have no idea what version of itunes I had before but this new updated version works differntly... like I could make playlists with videos w/o having to do the dumb manipulation of changing a movie into a music video.... anyhow. Whar can I do to be able to play videos from itunes?

With my movies and tv shows, I need to know if I can move the Itunes folders (Movies, TV shows and Home Video's) and move each one of them to 3 seperate internal hard drives while Itunes can still find them to play with my apple tv. Does anyone know how I can do it?

While you can do that, it is not a feature of iTunes. Put your movies on the external drive, then add them to iTunes by dragging the files to iTunes while holding the option (alt) key down so it leaves the files where they are located. Can Apple TV 2 stream purchased videos / home movies converted to MP4 and in my iTunes library?

Okay, so we currently own a 1st Gen ATV and love it, however 99% of it's use is streaming purchased content and/or home movies etc. that I've used visualhub/handbrake to convert and imported into my iTunes library. All in all, once I gave up and surrendered my video content to iTunes and started streaming to my 1st Gen ATV I've grown hooked, I love sorting stuff however I want (I have about 250 movies, entire seasons of X-Files etc. that I've ripped from my own (LEGAL) media and put in iTunes, so when it's sorted properly it's very clean, when it's all alpha, it's a nightmare.
I've tried a few media servers for the PS3, however they just pile all the movies into one big alpha sorted mess, music isn't sorted by genre, no genius, TV shows are not tagged by watched, won't resume properly etc. Boxee / XBMC are a little better, but then again I run those on my ATV as well, and still Boxee doesn't really seem to sort stuff quite as well or play playlists properly.
We're getting another TV for our den and have been looking into other media streaming options, what I love about the Apple TV is the way I can sort all our movies, shows etc. by genre, so the kids can just go to the stuff I've tagged as Kids Movies or I can make video playlists for them and mix up some Planet Earth and Dora the Explorer for our babysitter and movies /shows are tagged as watched/unwatched, if you stop one it will ask if you want to resume, etc.
Looking into the ATV2 it seems like it's just geared for rentals, If that's the case I really am not interested. I like the Netflix option, but then again most newer internet connected TVs do that as well as my PS3, not sure how viable an option the WD TV Live plus or Boxee box is, I'd like to get some newer hardware, but I'm just not sure what route to go.
Does the ATV2 stream media in iTunes TV Shows/Podcasts/Movies folders? It doesn't sync right? So it it all Airplay now?
Is my best bet just to get another 1st Gen? Are there any other media servers that are able to sort stuff by played/genre/etc.
Ug, I'm at a loss! I really love the features of my old Apple TV, and would love to get a new one, but I'm just not sure if it will do everything I'm used to, or if any of the other standalone boxes are better options?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
The Apple TV 2 will play all the content in your iTunes library that your Apple TV 1 does. It can no longer sync any of it but can stream it all just as the older model did. Airplay is a different feature that lets you stream from an iPad/iPhone, the Apple TV 2 has Airplay the first didn't.
You can still sort and search content by genre, it still marks content watched and unwatched and mainly still lets you organise much as the Apple TV 1 did, with one exception. It doesn't do nested folders, so the ability to tag a movie as a show (ie James Bond) and have all the associated movies in a James bond folder has gone and it lists all these movies individually.
It has a similar situation with TV shows. It will put all TV shows in a series in a folder as the older one did, but the new one lists each series separately whereas the older model would put all the series in one folder.
Not nesting folders is a bit of a pain with large libraries and whilst I don't like it, it's more or less the only compromise I have to make and of course I get additional features too.

Will videos/movies play continuously on the iPod or only one at a time?

I have 80g iPod Classic and wish it could play videos continuously like it can play songs. Nothing in the pdf manual about it. Nothing in iTunes prefs about it. Nothing in iPod settings about it. I know if I make a playlist of videos in iTunes, iTunes can/will play the entire playlist before it stops. I dragged the playlist to the iPod, but there it plays one video and stops. Question: can it be done or can't it, and if so, HOW?

and tried this, which works: in iTunes create a playlist of videos/movies; select all; choose Get Info from the File menu (yes to the alert); at the bottom of the window (titled "Multiple Item Information") toggle the "Skip When Shuffling" to "No". Then you can drag the playlist to your iPod's newly created playlist box. P.S.: Of 11 videos, 2 were rejected for not being able to be played "on this iPod", even though they already had played on it hours before, even though I had to convert many files so they could be "played on this iPod". "In any complex system blah blah will eventually blah blah.

I bought a Sandisk Connect Media Drive, downloaded the app from iTunes. Before iOS 8, movies played fine. After iOS upgrade I can no longer play movies downloaded from iTunes to the media drive. Anyone else have a similar issue?

I checked with SanDisk's own online support and they indicate that they have notified Apple of the issue.
According to SanDisk, the problem lies with Apple not having the iOS 8 version of the Safari browser having DRM decoding enabled that the Media Drive relies upon to decode and play iTunes DRM titles. Non DRM encoded videos will play in the browser.
DRM audio is not effected as this is handled by the native iOS music app.
As of the date of this post SanDisk have not been given a timeframe by Apple for this issue to be resolved.
I hope that Apple resolves this issue quickly as I have a large collection of DRM video titles on a 128Mb memory card installed in the Media Drive that I am unable to view.

Error message when trying to play videos in iTunes

Updated to iTunes 10.4 using OS X v10.7 and now get error message "This movie requires QuickTime, which is not supported by this version of iTunes when playing music videos in iTunes". This did not happen in previous version of iTunes.

Mov is a container format, you'd need to look at the codec used by the movie file inside the container to know whether it will work with the Apple TV or not.
