.mov to h.264 not keeping original size

I have a .mov that is 3840x2160 and that's what it should be. I need to convert it to h.264 and keep the 3840x2160. I have tried several things and it always renders to 1920 x 1080. How do I get it to render to the 3840x2160?
Thanks

What would those "several things" be that you've already tried?
It wouldn't hurt to know something about the project, your machine, and other things, either:

  • Page will not keep new size

removing original size from the metada? I have a file with multiple pages that I cropped from 8.5 x 11 to a half page. I then proceeded to import the pages into an indesign file and the pdf is retaining the original size?

I have no idea why you printed as an image. I cropped a page of a PDF and printed to a new PDF. You can adjust the expand/shrink to fit, the page size (in the Adobe PDF printer properties), and the location (center and such). I did not bother with the page change and got the information printed centered on the letter size paper. There was no longer any cropping. This print process is not usually recommended, but it should do what you want.
If you are not getting a screen asking for the file name and such, change that option in the settings tab of the printer properties (it allows you to set that Prompt for Adobe PDF filename or just use Documents\*.pdf). There are a lot of options in the properties. You can also select to open the new PDF (typically a good idea -- particularly in your case where it is not clear if it printed). If you do not get a PDF, it is typically because there is an error in the creation process that is denoted in the log file, but that should not occur when printing an existing PDF.

  • Not keeping original photos

From what I have searched what I want to do is not possible but I am asking anyways.
Is there a way to make modifications to a photo and tell iPhoto to make it the original? Mainly the only modified photos I have are ones I've needed to rotate so there is no reason I would ever need to revert back to the sideways photo. Already my iPhoto library is 14+ GB and I am looking for ways to reduce its size.....
    Thanks.
    iPhoto 08 v7.1.5

If you are using iPhoto 08 when you edit the photo and click done, it replaces the original with the edited version.
this is incorrect - iPhoto '08 always keeps he original and when you make any edit of any sort it creates a modified version - each successive edit is applied to the original so you never are more than one version away from the original but the original is never replaced or modified - it is always maintained and there is no option to do otherwise.

  • Adding Bates numbers to PDFs increases file size by 10x - How to keep original size?

I have a lot of email texts that I converted from Word to PDF and then Bates numbered.
However, Bates numbering made each email's file size go from about 50kb to 500kb.
Once I combine these larger files for uploading to a docket, at the maximum allowable file size is 4 Mb, I can put together only 8-10 emails at a time.  What to do to keep the original file size small when Bates numbering?

    Hi paulu40695891,
Yes, there is a significant increase in the file size when one applies bates numbering to the pdf and saves it.
A workaround for this issue would be to save the pdf file again as reduced size pdf. (File -> Save as other -> Reduced Size PDF. )
Does that helps with your issue? Please revert back for any further query or assistance.

  • Way to keep original size and aspect ratio?

I've got 3 clips (from Snapz 2) I've created for a video tutorial at 507x196 and I'd like to use iMovie to put it all together. The problem is iMovie appears to only allow 3 aspect ratios which clips out both sides and then resizes it to fit, which isn't what I need. Is there any way to keep the original aspect/size as the clip? or a suggestion for a Mac app (free or low cost) that does?
    Thanks!
    Dan

iMovie assumes you want to output for TV or iPhone so you are limited to 16:9. 4:3, or 3:2.
With QuickTime Pro version 7, you can choose any dimensions you need. It costs about $30. You can get it online from Apple.

  • 60i to 50i conversion, but not keeping original length?

I'm sitting here with the raw footage for a music promo. Half is shot 50i, half is 60i. I need to end up in PAL, so I'm trying to figure out how to convert the 60i stuff to 50i. As all the 60i material has to be slowed down anyway, so I don't want to do a regular pulldown and start interpolating and losing frames and stuff. Just save/convert the QT to 50i, or PAL.
I guess what I mean is, keep the total amount of frames, but change the framerate.
    How can I do this?
Is there any way in FCP Pro HD or Compressor?
    How about After Effects?
    Any reply is a help

Check out Graeme's site. I think he has a frame for frame conversion. You might be able to use Conform in Cinema Tools to simply reset the frame rate to 25fps...

  • Images turn pink when not at original size in Mountain Lion

Hi. My wife and I both have mac book pros running Mountain Lion (10.8.5). When viewing images both online and in PDFs, the images change such that they are overlayed with a semi-transparent pink rectangle.  Is this an issue with my Adobe programs or an apple bug? I have found no mention of this problem using google. Thanks.

    Back up all data.
Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    defaults delete -g CGContextHighlight2xScaledImages
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear below what you entered. You can then quit Terminal. Test.

  • Original size and no smoothness

    Hi Guys,
I have a problem when I’m importing videos. The original video size is 480x360 aad when I’m importing it the video gets all messed up. It’s very important with this video that there is no change in it at all, because it’s pixel art. So smoothness is not allowed.
    I’ve made a screenshot:
    www.ee-design.dk/gfx/imovie.gif
Can anyone help me out here?

    1) The format is .mov.
Sorry, I should have been more precise. There are many kinds of video formats used by QuickTime movies that have the ".mov" extension. To learn what your movie is, open the movie you imported in QuickTime Player, then press Command-I (that's an eye). The window that opens tells you what format the movie uses. Tell us what it says, plus the movie size (perhaps 480x360.)
    2) When I'm importing the file there is only two sizes to pick between. 960x540 and 1920x1080. I don't se any other options.
Those sizes are offered only for a particular type of video, 1080i. They probably don't apply to your video. Other movies are automatically imported at their original size.
    3) I*m exporting it in the same size.
There are many ways to export an iMovie '08 project. Tell us which menu commands you are using to export yours.

  • Files increase sixfold or more when importing as "original size"

Simple question really - why does a 4GB .MTS file from my camera end up as a 35GB .MOV file in my Events folder, when choosing the "keep original size" option when importing? Why does the same file increase from 4GB to 9GB when I choose the lighter "large file" size that convert the movie from HD to SD?
Is there a way around this problem?
Background info - I'm using a Panasonic HDC-SD10 camera and either importing straight into iMove '09 Events, or importing as archive and then importing later. As I've only got an 8GB SD card for my
camera, I have to get them off there and onto my Macbook on a daily basis while I'm on holiday (as I am right now).
Unfortunately the large size of the eventual files in iMovie means that I have run out of disk space on my Macbook, and have had to resort to just copying the files onto my hard disk, rather than importing them into iMovie, so I'm wondering if there's an intermediate stage I could introduce that would stop the files growing in size so much?

This isn't a problem. Video on your camera is in a highly compressed format and as such can't be edited without decompressing it first. Your import routine is decompressing your files and copying them to your hard drive so that iMovie can edit it.

  • Recovered files in the trash.  How do I put them back to their original place so that they do not keep being recovered very time I open my Mac?

I keep getting the same recovered files in the trash.  How do I put them back to their original place so that they do not keep being recovered very time I open my Mac?

The recovered files are temporary files used by Mac OS X applications. Usually temporary files are deleted by an application when it no longer needs them. If an application quits unexpectedly, the temporary files may not be deleted by the application. When you restart your computer, Mac OS X moves these temporary files to the Trash.
You can retrieve useful files by dragging them out of the Trash. In most cases, however, the temporary files are not important and it is safe to empty your Trash. Check with the manufacturer of the application if you are not sure.

  • Exported video size smaller than original video size. How do I keep the original size?

I exporting a video from Adobe Premiere CS6 today, and I noticed the video was about 1/2 times smaller  than the original video I put in. I then uploaded the video on YouTube, and the size was still the same. I tried to change the preset to 1080p 29.97, 1080p 25, etc. and the same with 720p, and 480p, but the size only changed slightly.

  • Emailing Photos not at Full and Original Size? Why...

Am trying to send photos to friends and family but the photo quality and size gets reduced by soooo much.
An iphone gives an option if I want to send the photo at compressed size or original size.
Why does the Windows 8 Nokia 920 compress photos and how can you turn it off?
Uploading pictures on usb to computer and then emailing photos from computer to someone is a bit of hassle considering Phones can skip and send photos themselves.

I believe that the natural limit for the MMS standard (1.2 or 1.3) that most phones have in use these days is 600KB, so if you are sending it directly then it will downscale the image to the smaller size in order to comply with the data size limit. If you are using SkyDrive app on your 920, there are Settings for photo upload and photo download sizes.
For now, there is not much that can be done except upload it to SkyDrive and send people a link to that file...which can be cumbersome I know. Reasons for compressing it may be to lessen the load on data plans that users have.
Anyways, as this is a user to user forum only for Nokia products and services, and what you are asking about refers to core WP8 behaviour, you are always welcome to leave suggestions for them at: http://windowsphone.uservoice.com
