MOV to MPG or export to MPG

I have saved my audio and video to a MOV file as well as have the original files in FCP. I want to either convert the MOV to an MPG or export the project files from FCP an MPG. In either case, I want both the audio and video in the one MPG file. I have tried with Compressor and have no problem creating the MPG file, but it is just the video. In additon, the file I want to create will be used on a projector and not for streaming so I want the quality of a DVD VOB file.

I am having having exactly the same problem. I spent the entire morning trying to generate a ".mpg" file from Final Cut Pro. Need one file with audio and video. PC guy is waiting on the other end. I've seen these files floating around. Can they only be generated on a PC? If anyone can tell me. Please help!

I have recently upgraded my quicktime to 7.1.6 and upgraded with quicktime pro.
I have a movie that is currently in a .mpg file which works and plays sound perfectly. I am trying to change the format to a .mov so i can import to imovie.
When i perform the export i have the picture and the movie still plays but i have lost all of the sound. What am i doing wrong or not doing?
I have already checked the Audio MIDI setup and its set to 44100.1 hz in the audio input and audio output.

I have the same problem. I'm using Mavericks OS and latest iMovie. Both downloaded last week. I save the movie into File (as directed) and QuickTime
will not open. I'm then directed to a page of formats which are supposed to be supported on which is .mp4. Any tips?

Never received this error until I updated to newer operating system.

This sounds vaguely like the Error -49 some people have been getting. It's related to a feature in Time Machine geared towards laptop users who aren't always connected to their Time Machine backup drive.
This requires using the Terminal app, in your Applications/Utilities folder
To turn off Time Machine snapshots type in the following command:
sudo tmutil disablelocal
The Mac will likely ask for your password, so type it in and hit the return key. The type the word, exit and hit return. Quit Terminal.
Open iMovie and try doing another export and see if the same error message pops up.

Trash your preferences. Trash your project render files. Switch off background rendering. Export without using the computer for anything else.

Makes sense. I was trying to save it to a flashdrive, so it'd be portable. When I moved to a different computer, I did actually get the "not enough space" message instead of a number.

Move Print Version and Export of ALV to the right

Hello online experts,
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I am working on a webdynpro that displays data in ALV format.
I now want to move Print Version and Export of ALV to the right side and hide View(Standard View).
I am able to hide View(Standard View), but the Print Version and Export are automatically moved to the
left.
How can I have Print Version and Export on the left side when I hide View(Standard View)?

Hi Anna,
For the standard ALV Function ( Print version, Export, View, Filter ) you can only to display or hide them. And unfortunately you can not change their position or their order .

Movies: Embedded audio sometimes exporting, sometimes not...?

Hi, I'm working on a project right now synching to a .mov file running in Logic. When I go to 'Export Audio to Movie...', Logic is also putting the embedded audio from the .mov file into my export which I don't want. Weirdly, yesterday morning when I did it, this didn't happen. Logic 7 used to bring up a dialogue box where you could select the embedded audio if you wanted it in the bounce. This doesn't seem to be happening anymore, or has something changed?
In the Video 'Settings' the Sound Output is set to Mute and the Movie Volume is right down. I need to send this off today, so if someone can help clear this up I'd be very grateful. I'll happily supply any more info.

Hi, Looks like I'm WAY too late to actually help but... I recently encountered the same infuriating issue!!! In the end it was resolved when I realized that I actually had to deselect (click the space away from the text) the original audio file on the dialogue box. It's the last one to come up when your exporting (saving etc...). the one that says:
**Select the audio tracks of movie to keep in new movie**
I'm not sure I articulated that one too cleanly but I hope you get the gist.

Keynote movies stutter badly once exported to QuickTime

My Keynote presentation features a 2 minute movie. When I export the presentation to QuickTime, although the slides work fine, the movie stutters badly. To be specific, the movie audio is fine, but the visuals stutter badly.
Any workaround for this? Thanks!

I've been having problems in iMovie and Quicktime both. Whenever I used a song from iTunes in an iMovie, I would get stuttered playback. Many others experienced problems with stuttering video when they had extracted audio. Your particular problem could be many things. It could be your graphics card is too small to handle this. If you are running OS X tiger and have virex installed, then virex is using most of your CPU processing power (Do a search on Tiger and Virex to get the uninstaller). Finally you could be having problems with quicktime 7.0.3. If that is the case, then you can just reinstall 7.0.1 and everything should work fine. Or it could be something else. Hope some of this helps.

Exporting to .mpg with multiplexing ... keeps setting to "none"

Folks,
I need a single file with audio & video into 1. It needs to be an mpg.
At this moment, all I get from Premiere Elements (8) is an .m2v file and an .mpa
I read that I need to set multiplexing to something other than "none" for them to merge.
But here's the problem ... I set it to mpeg or dvd and save the preset and export the movie .. I still get 2 files.
If I go back to check the preset, the multiplexing has jumped back to "none".
What is wrong ?! This is driving me nuts !!

Just tried SVCD and get an export error now:
freely translated: "The total video- and audio-bit-speed excedes the maximum."
If I select for audio MPEG and set it to mono 128kbps it keeps the multiplexer at TS and exports a single file with .m2t extention ... but doesn't play any sound when I play the file :/
I'm trying all sorts of settings now and sometimes get a single .mpg file ... but I hear no audio in it :/ (combined stereo or something)
PS: I need a single .mpg file to put on an SD card which goos into a small LCD tv and hangs in a shop looping the film over & over ... and last time I had such an LCD here, the only file that would play on it was an MPG2 with muxed audio. I remember merging the audio and video with a trail payware program back then ... but the trail period is long over and I just think it crazy paying 100+$ for a software if I already have PremElements .............

What format to export from mpg in QuickTime Pro 7

Hi, I just got Quick Time Pro 7, because when I´am trying to use the videos of my old sony digital camera in imovie, this gives me a message that cannot support this format, which is mpg, so one time before, I changed them on a pc software, and it worked, but this time I got Quick TIme Pro 7 to convert the videos, but I cannot find an option to export them with the audio, is exporting only the videos with no audio, can somebody tell me what format do I have to use?

Export to mpg while keeping 16-9 format

How do i export out of Final Cut 5 using compressor to a mpg format for your average pc user, while keeping my 16-9 format since i shoot often in HD. I'm assuming i have to use the MPG1 choice in compressor so that everybody can see it on their computer and on the internet without having to donwload Quicktime. My clients are not very computer literate at all, so downloading quicktime is an issue - i simply need to export so the average window user with their basic media players (i'm assuming that will be windows media player) can see the video while maintaining the 16-9 format (letterboxing is fine overcourse as well)

I use to build MPEG1 copies of some project (they look "bad" but play in every PC in the world without installing any extra codec).
I found the easiest way is creating a 4:3 timelines (i.e. NTSC DV) and paste your sequence there, scaling it down to fit the screen. Then export this new sequence direct to Compressor MPEG1 preset.
I tried using the letterboxing option with the MPEG1 encoding in Compressor (v2) but most of the times I don't get what I want.

There's nothing wrong with suggesting mpeg1... it might be a dinosaur of a codec, but at least it ensures absolutely compatibility with old PCs and the like... usually the kind of computers used by certain clueless clients.
Mpeg4 isn't supported by windows media player unless they have the QT component installed... and trying to explain that to a particular demographic-of-a-client is a just... well, it's easier to pull your own teeth out... so mpeg1 is way to go.
If the client wants it... give it to 'em.

New 16:9 movie and how to export it

I have to create a new movie for widescreens 16:9 format, and even If I tryed several times I don't have any success. So please advice me what I'm doing wrong
When I'm creating a new project I'm setting a new preset with these settings:
Editing Mode : DV NTSC
Timebase : 29.97 frames/seccond
Video : Frame size 720x480 ( I'm not able to chenge these settings
Pixel aspect Ratio: D1/DV NTSC Widescreen 16:9(1.2)
Display Format : 30fps Drop-Frame Timecode
Now for the export I need a movie that can be played on a DivX Player that can support mpeg format or even an avi format.
First I tryed directly from Export -> Movie but the file is too larger and is not suported by the DVD players
Seccond I tryed to export it using Adobe Encode but the only suported format are FLV Quick Time, RealMedia and Windows Media. As far as I know the DVD player is not suporting these formats.
What are your suggestions ?

Ok I understand, but anyway, during the development, I diddn't solved the problem with the real 16:9 format.
Because when I'm creating a new project I'm setting Widescreen 16:9 but I can't change the dimmnesions from 720x480 to 852x480. How can I do that ?
Also the exported file is 14:9
