Mov to pinnacle

Hello
I have created a project in Final Cut Pro and want to export the Pinnacle.
I have created a quicktime mov file but Pinnacle will not import this file.
What is the best way of exporting from Final Cut Pro to Pinnalce
Thanks in advance
Tonnie

Step 1: Find out which movie file formats work with Pinnacle natively**.
Step 2: Convert your file to match one of those formats.

** - information regarding acceptable Pinnacle video formats should be contained in the user's manual or help files.

  • Import movie from final cut pro x in pinnacle studio ?

today i make movies with pinnacle studio (windows)
i have pc with blu ray burner in pc (built in)
i would like to buy mac with final cut pro x
is it possible to make movie (high definition) in finacl cut pro x and export to a format which can be imported in pinnacle studio (version 14) without loss of quality
then i would like to burn blu ray on my pc with pinnacle studio
so : make movie with mac and burn HD movie on pc ?

It'd be easier to get Toast 11 Pro and author/burn Blu Ray on your Mac.
BUT, that's extra money you may not want to spend.
Pinnecle, does it import XML files?  Well, that may not work anyway.
You'll have to export a QT movie in FCP X that Pinnacle will read.

  • Add a movie to my site in MX

I'm new to this forum stuff so I'm not sure what I'm asking will get through or whether I'll find my way back here. I'm using MX 2004 7.0.1 and I need to insert/embed a 22m movie from Pinnacle Ultimate. I'm not sure I'm making the right movie and each one I make doesn't show up on the site after "putting" it on my site. I've tried everything I know. ANY help will be appreciated. You can also send info to [email protected] Thanks

    Hi there,
better post your question in the regular Dreamweaver General Discussions forum. The current forum deals with questions which are related to the Dreamweaver extension ADDT, which has been discontinued over a year ago, that is, the number of fellow forum participants is much larger in the regular Dreamweaver forums.
However, when posting your question over there, please make sure to rather provide a link to the page in question instead of your private email address, because this will help others examining the page code and spot possible errors.
    Cheers,

  • QT Pro Crashes When I Ask It To Export a MOV to an AVI

I'm trying to use my newly-purchased QT Pro to export from MOV (captured with Casio digital camera) to uncompressed AVI so that I can edit my movie in Pinnacle. When I click the options > video settings so that I can specify the codec etc, QT disappears and windows makes an error beep (the 'thrum' chord sound). Any ideas ?

Try turning off video Hardware Acceleration in Windows.
Go to CONTROL PANEL--DISPLAY--click the SETTINGS tab--click the ADVANCED button (you may get a warning message here; just click OK)--click the TROUBLESHOOT tab and finally move the Hardware Acceleration slider all the way to NONE. Click OK
I had the same issue that you describe and this fixed it for me. However, if you are using your PC for games and other video-intensive applications, you'll want to move the Hardware Acceleration back to Maximum after you're done with Quicktime.

  • Importing VHS video

I used a video transfer device (Pinnacle for Mac) to get analog video into my iMac, and, according to the messages from the device software, all went perfectly well. It was 1.5 hours in a 1.9 GB file. The last message said the file (MPEG4)is in iTunes, but it isn't there. I found it in Quick Time, but Quick Times says it can't be played because it isn't a movie.
Pinnacle wasn't much help. The Genius Bar guys at the Apple retail store were great and tried hard with several ideas, but couldn't sovle the problem. We uninstalled, downloaded from Pinnacle, and other things they tried and I didn't understand. Still can't see my movie.
    Any suggestions?

Try using VLC to play the file. Could also try MPEGstreamclip.
To convert it you have to have Quicktime Pro, and converting it will probably mean re-coding it and getting a loss in quality due to the double encode. You may need to find something that will let you demux the streams, then recombine them, or use a pass-through feature which does essentially the same thing. FFmpegX does that, and AVIdemux (AVIdemux is a bit temperamental on Macs). Sorry if that is a bit brief but video is not simple.

  • I am sure there's a simple answer to this newbie question

    Hi group,
I am trying to burn my movie for my DVD Player.
    I am using PAL format.
I edit the movie in Pinnacle Studio.
    I imported it into Encore.
I try to burn a project 1.8 Gigas in Size and no problem
I try to burn a project 2.0 or greater and it won't work!!!
    I am using DVD R/W
I am sure there's no problem with the DVD Burner because I am able to
burn a DVD movie using Nero onto a DVD R disc and no problem.
    My Burning speed is 1X.
I have a machine built for editing: 2 giga of memory/ A8N-SLI premium
Mother board / AMD 4200+ processor / 700 gigas of hard disk, etc
How do I solve this problem?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I am using MPG 2 as a source for my movie.
It won't work means that I appear to burn it successfully but when I go to the DVD player, it movie skip, drags after about half way through.
If I burn the smaller sized file It will play well throughout but I need
    a 3.5+ capacity.
    Thank you.

  • Install GPU, or software first?

I got the EVGA GTX 750 (with 1gb) on the box, it states you must update the Bios before installing the card.
In the past I believe I inserted the card in the PCI slot, then install software.
This is a new MSI B85-G41 PC Mate. Before I dismantled my old PC, I downloaded and unzipped the Win7 64 drivers and utilities to a flash drive. I had forgotten if that included a bios update for this board.
So can I just install this on the PCI-E 3.0 16x, boot up, and then install the software off the CD?
I dabble in Photoshop, and video edit home movies using Pinnacle Studio 15 HD, I do not game, or overclock, but still people are telling me to spend the 400.00 on a GTX-770 with 4 GB, kind if expensive, so is the 22"-24" IPS LED HD Monitor, and I was just going to use the I7 4770's Haswell HD4600 graphics, but I thought I'd be better off with the GPU.
    Thanks!

Card Installed first ---- Drivers are installed while the Card is already in the system as the installer has to verify that the card is there as the installed will have Hundreds of drivers and it needs to pick the correct one by determining what the GPU is!

  • Trying to copy VHS tape using PINNACLE MOVIE BOX to FCE 4

    Hello,
New to FCE and trying to transfer VHS tapes to clean up and movie them.
The salesperson in the local Apple Store suggesting using FCE and Pinnacle MovieBox. I connect an VCR using the RCA cables to the Pinnacle, then Firewaire to my MBP. Using FCE as per instructions and forums, Capture and hit "Now".
It starts to transfer and then stops with "Locating TIme Code Break Press Esc to Stop". Then stops.
I've tried setting clips, but get other errors, about not able to find the start points.
It's a basic non-audio VHS I would like to transfer from start to 2 hour finish.
Imovie 08 works, but can I transfer it in to FCE with out loss of quality. THe sales guy felt I should use FCE.
Can it be done, am I doing something wrong. I basically want to transfer it while I attend to something else. Do not want to watch all these VHS tapes.
    Thanks,
    Art

    Hi,
when you use that DV converter setup, is your device already connected and working?
Can you see it listed using the system profile under the firewire devices?
I have a Canopus device which does the same kind of video conversions and it works fine on FCE4 using the DV PAL converter (in my case I work with PAL).
Have you tried direct connection with the firewire port of your mac (that's if you are using some sort of chain connection through a disk firewire hub)?
I have noticed my Canopus did have some trouble when it was connected through a firewire hub on an external disk. Now it's on a dedicated firewire hub and it works fine.
    Regards,
    Armando.

  • Adobe Premiere 6.5 and Pinnacle Movie Board

I've been using Adobe Premiere 6.5 successfully for ages with a DV500 video card.
I think my DV500 finally gave up the ghost so I reluctantly aquired a Pinnacle Movie Board which came with Studio 12.
I still would like to use my Premiere 6.5 but finnd that many of the features it had before are no longer there.
Is it possible to use Premiere with Movie Board and if so, how do I go about this?

No... the Dv500 (I have one, with P6.02) came with software that is specifically written to link the card's hardware to the appropriate software "hooks" inside Premiere
Without that software to act as a bridge between card and Premiere, Premiere doesn't know the card exists
You might Google to see if Pinnacle ever wrote software to make that card work with Premiere, but that would be the only way to get them to work together that I know about
As long as the files you are are DV AVI type 2 with 48Khz sound, they will edit just fine in Premiere

  • I have an older Sony digital camcorder, and I am having trouble importing the movie files. Sometimes I get the audio in iTunes without the picture. I have a Pinnacle Dazzle interface. What am I doing wrong. Is there a way to skip the dazzle device?

I have an older Sony digital camcorder, and I am having trouble importing the movie files. Sometimes I get the audio in iTunes without the picture. I have a Pinnacle Dazzle interface. What am I doing wrong. Is there a way to skip the dazzle device?

Chances are the pinnacle is producing .avi files or MPEFG1/2 streams - iTunes may know how to decode the audio but not the video. Download Handbrake and try running the Pinnacle files through it and adding to iTunes - use Universal format unless you have a specific device in mind.
    Keep copies of the originals.
Another option might be to try to install Perian.  Can't remember if the Apple MPEG2 plugin allows MPEG2 to be played in iTunes.

had some old movies from reel to reel on a vcr. i converted these to mp4 format using pinnacle video capture, quality was not great but it was decent enough on my computer. when i placed these on my ipad it was much worse and very choppy.  i have handbrake and thought i could maybe change the movie so i could play it on ipad but dont know what dimensions or framerate etc. currently the movie on the computer is in 640 x 480 mpeg 4  aac.  thanks derek

    Jon,
What Julianne said at first about re-linking made perfect sense and I followed it easily, had actually already been there.  But in my situation now, it didn't have any effect.  The directory of folders which had already been added were still just as they were, and the outstanding balance are not in the desired position.  And the folders which had been brought in earlier today when I clicked "synchronize folder", were still missing all the metadata.
Maybe this means I need to start over, and I'm fine about doing that that, but I don't know what it takes to accomplish that.  I'm concerned now that any changes I make out of guesswork could only make the problem harder to resolve.  It just feels to me like something I did at the beginning just wasn't right, and now it's a tangle.
    Can you advise?
    Thanks,

  • DVD Quality: Using Pinnacle Video Transfer and I-movie 08

I am using Pinnacle video transfer to upload old video - some directly from old camera tapes, some from 8mm video that has been transferred to VCR or DVD by a commercial service such as Costco. I am using the "Professional Quality" to burn my finished projects, but the quality is not as good as the original upload from the source. Sometimes it is better than others but I am unable to figure out why. Is there a way to use the creative resources for MAC and get good quality video? Thanks very much. Are the professional programs (such as "final cut") a lot better?

Dyann there seems to be a problem with Imovie08 in that it only uses single field processing effectively throwing away half of your horizontal quality. I am a relatively new Mac user and bought my macbook to do video editing, I am having the same problem when importing from a mini dv camera in that the quality when the dvd is produced to be quite honest is crap. Many people are complaining about htis and are asking if Imovie09 will have this fixed but no firm answers yet. Hope this helps

  • Pinnacle Video Capture for Mac

After talking with a bunch of salesmen (considering getting a DvD writer), I took the advice of someone in the Apple Store and bought a Pinnacle Video Capture for Mac to copy my laserdiscs. It was $100 before tax, and didn't do stuff I don't plan on doing anyway. I did spend another $25 to get an S-video cable.
I installed the software and connected it up to my LD. I started capturing the movie, and selected S-Video (although in the small window they showed, I didn't see any difference between that and video out. I selected a max time from a limited selection, and let it record.
After a while, I went downstairs and saw that the audio and video were not synchronized at all. I let it continue.
After a while I came down again, and the movie was finished, so I stopped it. I found the MP4 - it was in the iTunes movie directory, and played it in iTunes. I fast-forwarded it to near the end, the voice and video were way off-set.
I haven't tried burning this yet.
Quicktime player doesn't think this is a valid movie file. I selected "open with" and "other" and the recommended applications had iMovie greyed out.
Why in the world would the audio and video record at different speeds?
Do I have to buy software to edit the movie down to the correct size?
    My Mac has:
    Model Name: iMac
    Model Identifier: iMac7,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 4 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 800 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: IM71.007A.B03
    SMC Version: 1.21f4
I noticed the Pinacle Video Capture program was still running, so I tried to quit it, and got a window asking for my administrator ID and passsword to allow Pinnacle Video Capture to make changes. Why?

The audio drifted out of sync because the Dazzle doesn't support locked audio. For short videos (say, under 10 minutes) this won't be very noticeable but when you capture longer videos it becomes progressively worse over time.
What do you want to do with your Laserdisk copies? Watch them on your iPod? Edit and/or burn to DVD?
A device like the Canopus ADVC-110 will do the video/audio conversion properly, keeping the audio and video in sync regardless of the length of your video. It converts to DV, not to MP4, and you would use it with iMovie or Final Cut (not iTunes). However you can export your video from iMovie or Final Cut to iPod/AppleTV formats.
The Dazzle device will not work directly with iMovie or Final Cut.
ps. If all you really want to do is transfer your Laserdisc videos to DVDs, it will be a whole lot faster & simpler to get a DVD player/recorder that has analog inputs and record directly to DVDs. There are many brands & models to choose from and many good ones are as inexpensive as the $100 you spent on the Pinnacle converter.

  • Pinnacle Studio MovieBox Plus: FireWire to USB!

I don't have a Mac, but I've used them at my school, and I plan to get a Mac in the near future. Initially I figured I'd buy the $999 white MacBook since I use a Canon ZR800 MiniDV camcorder, until I just remembered I have THIS:
    http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/ol-images/hometech/uploads/2007-02-20PinnacleStu dioMoviebox.jpg
It is Pinnacle's Studio MovieBox Plus unit. What it does is that it connects to your PC via a USB 2.0 port and is able to capture analog video AND MiniDV, complete with device control! Yep, it has a FireWire port on the front to plug the camcorder in, and it connects to a USB 2.0 port!
The Studio 10 Plus software that came with it works great, on both PCs I've used it on, and I've also tested the MovieBox device with other programs, including Windows Movie Maker (XP version), Roxio Creator 10, various Nero programs and Ulead VideoStudio and DVD MovieFactory. They all recognized the DV part and the analog part. But the important part of the story is that when it came to Adobe Premiere Elements (version 3.0), that program was unable to capture analog video, but surprisingly, it recognized my Canon ZR800 camcorder through the MovieBox's FireWire port, and captured from it as if my camcorder was connected to a real FireWire port on the PC, using device control with it! The MovieBox is capable of capturing in DV, HDV, AVI, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2.
I wonder if I plug this thing into a USB 2.0 port on one of the Intel Macs (hopefully the newer-style MacBook), and then connect my Canon ZR800 to the MovieBox's DV port, the Mac would think the DV part of the MovieBox is a real FireWire port and capture from my MiniDV camcorder like it would on a PC? If anyone has one of these babies, an Intel Mac with OS X Leopard, and a MiniDV camcorder, can someone try and confirm this for me? That way, I can shell out a bit more money and get the $1300 MacBook and just use the MovieBox device for capturing from my ZR800 camcorder to edit in iMovie and Final Cut Express. As far as formats go, it encodes in typical DV format, which comes out as AVI on PCs and MOV on Macs, and also works with MPEG if you really want to use it that way.
Can anyone help me on this? My college's TV studio director, who is a former Pinnacle Systems employee and has worked with both Mac and Windows, thinks this might be a smart idea, so I don't have to spend more money to buy a USB flash-drive camcorder just so I can edit video on the new MacBook (which would admittedly be a stupid reason, IMO)

Great idea but ... but probably no go ... The MovieBox sofware is PC only and it is unlikely that the MovieBox converter by itself will work with a Mac. You can try it, but since it requires the Pinnacle software it is not likely to work. And Pinnacle equipment in general does not have a good reputation working with Macs.
You could take the MovieBox to your local Apple Store and see if you can try it out on a Mac there. It can't hurt anything.
Have you considered getting an iMac instead of a MacBook? Or perhaps a refurbed MacBook that has a FireWire port - they're currently going for $850 to $1000 and carry the full Apple Warranty, and are also eligible for the 3-year AppleCare. My son has one and it's been working flawlessly from the day he bought it.

  • Best way to convert home movie VHS tapes so they can be edited in iMovie HD

Please help! I'm sorry this question is going to be long, but I'm a novice at this.
My goal is to get my VHS home movies (I have about 30 of them) into iMovie so I can do two things.
First I want to burn DVD's so I'll have a copy of the VHS tapes before they go bad.
Secondly, I want to be able to extract small clips from all of the tapes and combine them in a new iMovie project.
Here's what I've done so far:
I purchased a Canopus ADVC110 and got someof my VHS tapes converted digitally but the file sizes were HUGE and eating up my hard drive space. I was down to 6 GB of space left on my hard drive and almost crashed my Mac.
I deleted all these huge files and got my Mac back up to having 111 gigs of space left. Whew!
This week I purchased a Pinnacle converter and started all over. I took a VHS tape, and it was compressed into a nice small Mpeg-4 file and went to iTunes.
Then I tried to drag and drop it from itunes to imovie. That didn't work. I then dragged the movie to my desktop and then dragged it to imovie..... looks like this was going to take a long time to get into imovie. I'm thinking this is too many steps.
Now I am importing the file into iMovie by importing directly from itunes. The file size is 1.04 GB and it is 1 hour and 54 minutes long. It is taking a loooong time to import this movie....like 100 minutes.
I am afraid I am doing this the hard way.
Plus, after reading all the discussion boards and all the problems people are having... I don't even know if I'll be able to successfully edit this movie once it's imported. Plus, after I've edited it (if I can) will I be able to transfer the clips to another iMovie project?
I'm happy with the file size that the Pinnacle converter is giving me. I'm happy with the way the movie appears in itunes.
Because I have **so many VHS tapes** to convert, I'm asking you all if there is an easier way for me to complete this task!
Thanks in advance for any advise. Keep in mind that I'm not tech-sophisticated..... just a middle aged Grandma trying to preserve memories of my family!

    _Share" the highlight as suggested_
Thanks Lennart..... I'm not sure I know what you meant by the above.
Do you mean that I share the little clips I want to use in the 'best of project'?
I read the MacWorld article.... it's great thanks!
I want to keep all these converted movies on my hard drive because down the road I want to extract other clips from them so I can make a 'best of' movie for my other family members. I may want to do that next year.... or whatever..... so I want to have the imovies available for me when that time comes.
In order to do this am I going to have to buy a lot..... and I mean ALOT of extra hard drive space? That darn Canopus was really making files for me that were like 60-80GB's per one half hour movie!!
Hey, I really appreciate all the time you are spending with me on this topic. Making these imovie memories are so very important to me.
