Move a photo down

I have a photo that I need to move down 1/8" from the top of the book.
I am using 'fit to page', but in the test book I printed (I need many more copies), the top tiny bit of the image is cut off. There is space in my photo at the bottom to allow a slight vertical adjustment, but I can't see a way to move the frame down. I have found the Control/Shift control to move the frame left or right or rotate, but not up and down... Any suggestions?

What theme are you using?

How do I move emailed photos to iPhoto using Lion? I've lost the previous drop down option.
    Thank you, Karen

There are multiple ways. I am not at my Lion machine at the moment, so I am not sure I can remember them all, but here is one: Click on the "Details" button in the upper right corner of the message. If there are image attachments, the drop down menu should appear.
Or, try right click on the image. I think I saw "Add to iPhoto" in the contextual menu.

  • How can I move the photos I have in iPhoto to an external hard drive and use that as my library?

I bought a new Mac Pro.  My old computers main drive is so bloated that I need to reduce it's size.  I want to move my photos, music and movies to an external hard drive and have iPhoto, iTunes, and iMove access them there.
How do I do that so it work?
    Thanks,
    Keith

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
There are similar options for iMovie and iTunes, but best to check their forums for details.

  • How can I move a photo from one project to another

How can I move a photo from one project to another without creating a duplicate so I have the same photo in two projects.
I seems to me in the past when I moved the photo from project 1 to project 2, I would get a number showing the # of photos being moved and you could drag and drop in the 2nd folder and the photos would disappear from project 1 and show up in project 2. is there a setting I am missing.  Now when I drag and drop the photo no red # shows up and the photo stays in project 1 and also shows up in project 2 apparently creating a duplicate.
    Any suggestion?

Now when I drag and drop the photo no red # shows up and the photo stays in project 1 and also shows up in project 2 apparently creating a duplicate.
The projects are the basic containers.  Each image and all its versions are in exactly one project.
You can use an image in many albums, without duplicating it, also in many products like books, screensaver, slideshows.  But the projects are the basic structure of the library and you cannot have the same image in two different project, without duplicating it by storing the same original image files twice. Use albums to organize your library thematically.
Sorry, I misread your question.   Dragging an image file between projects should move the image and all its versions to the other project.  Aperture should only duplicate the image, if you hold down the alt/options key while dragging and move the image otherwise.
Which Aperture version are you using? And which MacOS X version?  Is your profile signature "MacBook Pro with Retina display, Mac OS 9.2.x, Aperture 3.5.1" still valid?
In Aperture 3.6 on MacOS X 10.10.1 dragging between projects is still working as expected:

  • How do I move a photo into an album in the new Photos application?

How do I move a photo into an album in the new Photos application?

The simplest way is to show the Sidebar at all times - you can reveal it with options-command-S  ⌥⌘S.
With the sidebar visible, you can simply drag the photos from the Moments or other albums to the album in the sidebar. You can select and drag multiple photos at a time by selecting the first photo, holding down the shift key and selecting more photos.  If the album does not yet exist, select the photos and press ⌘N for "File > New album" to create a new album with the selected photos.

I have so many photos on my Mac I only have 1G of memory left.  How can I move the photos to the external hard drive that is plugged into my iMac.

1GB? It's a miracle your Mac is running at all!
This is our resident iPhoto guru, Terence Devlin's, advice:
You can move your iPhoto Library to an external disk:
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library Folder as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • HT3149 iPhoto 09 When I click on the preview pane to move a photo into edit, it shows up black and the edit buttons are not active.  How do I fix that?

When I click on the preview pane to move a photo into the edit pane, there is no image just a black square and the edit buttons are not active. A few images in an event will move to the edit pane but most will not.  I cannot work with those images that do not enter the edit pane..no attaching to email, make a card, slideshow, etc.

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • I tried to move my photos to MY PASSPORT and they populated all over my screen; I can't get rid of them.  HELP!

I tried to move my photos to MY PASSPORT and they populated all over my screen - I can't get rid of them.  HELP!

This problem sounds like a missed target and too many files: user meant to drag and drop files to the WD My Passport icon on the Desktop but dropped files on the Desktop instead. If so, there could be thousands of files on the Desktop; Finder is trying to create icons for every dropped file--and one day Finder might finish--but the Mac is essentially stuck till those files leave the Desktop.
Various solutions exist, with increasing levels of difficulty:
    1. In Finder, hit Cmd-N to open a "list" display window of the Desktop, then move files from this window to a new folder--or, as others advise, Cmd-drag files to the WD My Passport  (easy, but given the bogged-down system, probably not an option).
    2. From the Finder menu, Go > Desktop to get to a "list" display rather than an "icon" display window, followed by drag/drop clean-up to a new folder or Cmd-drag files to the WD (again, easy, but also perhaps not possible).
    3. Start in Safe Mode (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564) and then move the excess Desktop files to a new folder or Cmd-drag files to the WD. (Safe Mode loads only essential graphics routines, so the Finder may be more snappy even with an overloaded Desktop).
    4. Boot from the installation DVD and then navigate to the overloaded Desktop to move the photo files to a new folder or Cmd-drag to the WD.
    5. Use a second Mac to connect in Target Disk Mode (http://support.apple.com/kb/ph3838) to clean up the messy Desktop.
    6. Use Terminal and unix commands to clean the Desktop. Try the easy ways first.

  • Movie won't down load

2 part question - I just tried down loading a load movie from my cannon power shot to my power book w/ iphot 5. I've never had trouble with this b/4. Usually the photos down load, and the movies are included with the "roll". Why would the movie NOT complete a download on the power book with iphoto 5?
When I tried down loading to my imac (w/ iphoto 2) the movies do not down load at all. Is this because I need to upgrade iphoto in the imac?

    Hi RAL,
    1. If the movie file is larger than what a 30 second movie then iPhoto will choke on it I have found. I started using Image Capture to download the larger movies from my Canon camera. I actually like having the movie files in my Movies folder because they are easier to backup to disc this way.
Using Image Capture to download images and video clips:
Open up Image Capture which is found in the Applications folder.
When it is opened, go to Image Capture/Preferences
    Under the General button choose
Camera: When a camera is connected, open Image Capture.
The next time you connect your camera Image Capture will open.
In the window that opens you will see an Options button. Click on that button to set your options.
To find out more about Image Capture (it can do a lot more) Click on Help in the menu bar when Image Capture is open.
iPhoto: How to Change the "Open Automatically" Preference
If you find you can't change any of Image Captures preferences or can't access any drop down menus or they are greyed out, check to make sure Image Capture is loose in the Applications folder and not within a sub folder.
You need to have iPhoto 5 to download movie files with iPhoto. Use Image Capture on your iMac to download the movies.

  • Move Picasa photos to Time Capsule

How do I move my photos that we use Picasa with to my Time Capsule so I can use th TC as a media server?

Apple do not have exactly what you want.
There is nothing wrong with TM and backing up to a TC. But you want to move files off your computer. That is totally different.. what you want is indeed a server.
Since there is nothing directly available like a real NAS with backup and media capability.. the best option is a Mac Mini.. it does not have to be the latest .. but I would say any since 2010 will have more than enough power for the job. You need a big hard disk and since the internal is limited in the mini due to using 2.5" drives you are better buying the largest and fastest interface hard drive you can get.. ie 2TB or 3TB FW800 is far superior to USB2. Or a bit later mini will have thunderbolt.. hugely fast but expensive.. or very latest USB3, which is a good combo of speed and cheap. But you have to spend the extra on the mini.
If you have an old laptop or imac etc .. it could also be setup for the same task, although not as suitable as the mini which does make a good low power consumption media server.
Do not forget backup as that is still just as important. A second hard disk plugged like USB2 which is dirt cheap (but always buy usb3 for future high speed connection, they are just a few dollars more) plugged into the mini makes excellent backup.. TM works better to local drive and you do not load down your network.
This is plainly going to cost more than a TC.. but is a better concept all round.
Your whole network can use TM backup to the mini .. see
    http://code.stephenmorley.org/articles/time-machine-on-a-network-drive/
Which is effectively going to function as the TC for backups.

  • I just installed LR6.  I can't seem to move any photos between folders.  I drag and drop and  nothing happens.  No error

I just installed LR6.  I can't seem to move any photos between folders.  I drag and drop and  nothing happens.  No error

To open photos from Photos in Preview use the Media Browser. You do not need to have Photos open to use the photos inPreview.
In Preview use the command "Flle > Open".
The File Chooser dialog will open. Switch the file chooser to columns view and scroll down, until you see the Media section.
    Click the Photos view.
Select the Photos app and click the disclosure triangle.

My apple TV no longer finding my movies and photos. What's the deal with this?

That would be awesome, if the nearest service area wasn't 4 hours away.... It would cost me just as much in gas to drive down there as it would just to buy a cheap replacement off of ebay...

  • I was trying to move 4000 photos to a storage drive and ended up putting them on the desktop.  My computer is now frozen.  I have tried to restart several times.

I was trying to move 4000 photos to a storage drive and somehow it ended up on my desk top.  Now it is frozen.  I have powered down a few times and still comes back up but you cannot do anything.

Try to wait it out. Moving 4000 photos to the desktop can take a long time. After awhile, if the mac responds go to edit - undo move. That may place the photos back in their original location.

  • I would like to move my photos in iPhoto to my NAS?

I would like to move my photos in iPhoto to my NAS.
Some state simply drag and drop it then point iPhoto to the new Location
quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive
    Some say it isn't possible.
Unless the NAS is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) you will not be able to run the iPhoto library on it
I am not particularly fussed about other users seeing it, I just want it off my iMac?  I am using iphoto 9.5.1.  its a synology DS213J NAS.
    thanks,
ooops think i am in the wrong section, if someone can move it then great. apologies.

for anyone else reading this, this is what I was told in the other forum.
iPhoto is problematic with referenced original files, because iphoto has no tools to recover from broken references, but Aperture has been designed to handle referenced images and libraries distributed across several drives well and has tools to fix broken references.
But both, iPhoto and Aperture, are not network databases.
Apple says:  Use locally mounted Mac OS X Extended volumes for your Aperture library
Putting your originals on a network storage will make Aperture slower, and you are risking library corruption by transmission errors. The safest and option, and the solution with the quickest access to your original files will be a directly connected drive.
