I am trying to move an object in a photo using the method above. I cannot use the free transform unless i create an extra layer because my kayer is locked and cannot unlock it. Dragging the anchor point to where i want the image does not stop it moving when i move the handles
Should the method above work inPS 7? If not how do i move an object in a photo so it is at a grid intersection point and have it keep the same proportions when reduced/cropped?

yes i think it is called background layer. But i did not create it. I was only working with one layer but have to add another before i can use free transform?

If i make a duplicat layer then when i move the free transform handles the underneath layer is sticking out

Using the crop tool in Lightroom 5 I can only move and crop my photos from the top. Am I doing something wrong?

I am new to Lightroom 5 and find I cannot crop my photos as easily as I did in iPhoto. I would like to be able to drag them if I choose a custom size or crop them from the bottom as well as from the top but my two sided arrow disappears when I work at the bottom of the photo. Am I doing something wrong?

I would suggest you trash the prefs.
Quit Lightroom
Launch Finder and find the user Library by clicking the Go menu whilst holding down the Optn (alt) key (n.b. the library is hidden until you press the optn key) and inside the Library folder select the preferences folder. Then trash the following file:
com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist
Then re-launch Lightroom
It’s then worth clearing each cache. Go to the top menu bar:
Lightroom >> Preferences >> File Handling (tab)
Click the Purge Cache button under Camera Raw Cache Settings; then click the Purge Cache button under Video Cache Settings. Finally click OK.

Movie gets cropped on HDTVs

I have created a movie in Final Cut Pro X and then burned a DVD disk in iDVD. The movie shows the whole 16:9 frame on the computer and a CRT TV. The movie gets cropped on the two HDTVs I have tested it on. The DVD players have be set to their default seetings. When I place a DVD such as one from Netflix nothings gets cropped, so I am at a loss as to what is happening to my DVD
The two HDTVs I have tested on cropped the movie differntly. On one just the left and right side are cropped, not the top and bottom. On the other tv the cropping is equal on all sides.
The size of the movie is 1920 x 1080. Video Mode = NTSC. Aspect Ration = 16:9. Encoding = Proffessional Quality. Movie length = 17 minutes

After posting the above I saw in "More Like This" a possible solution in myDVDEdit. So I am going to check it out and see if it can solve this problem.
The people who work on iDVD should be aware of this issue and fix it.

How to play DVD movie and video on Blackberry

This guide is mainly about how to rip DVD and convert video to BlackBerry Storm. First, you should know what video format is BlackBerry Storm supports.

Step2. Load DVD into the software by clicking “Add DVD file”.
Here we can load three kinds of DVD's:
1. Real DVD, just put the DVD in your DVD drive and click load DVD, (you can find it by clicking the triangle on the right of 'load file' button.)
2. DVD ISO image, you can amount your ISO files in the daemon tools and then load the virtual DVD drive.
3. A DVD folder, sometimes you may store the DVD folder in your hard drive, it appears like "Video_TS" "Audio_TS" folders. You can load it by clicking the "load DVD folders" button.
Step3. Select Profile, Subtitle, Audio, output directory setting
After you load DVD into the software, click the Profile drop-down list to select the proper format according to your BlackBerry Type, this guide is mainly about how to convert DVD and video to BlackBerry Storm, so we select the “BlackBerry Storm series(*.mp4)” profile.
Regular DVD movies usually have several subtitles such as English, French, German, etc. You can select one you prefer. You can also delete the subtitle by selecting “No Subtitle”. Selecting Audio is the same. If you want to join all your DVD files into one video file, please select the option named “Merge into one file”. For more advanced setting, you can open the setting panel by clicking “Setting”.
Step4. Start the conversion
After all things done, you can click the “Start” to begin the conversion; it will take about 30 minutes for converting a regular two hours DVD movie. When the conversion finished, click “find target” to located the converted video on your computer, connect your BlackBerry Storm to computer, and then copy the video to your BlackBerry memory card, that’s all. For converting video to BlackBerry Storm, you can click “Video to BlackBerry” to run the BlackBerry Movie Converter, the operation steps are similar to DVD to BlackBerry Converter, So I’m not repeat here. But I want to add some tips to the BlackBerry Movie Converter.

Editing and cropping error message in photoshop 10. help!!!!

i have elements 10. i have been unable to perform editing and cropping of my picutres due to the following error message:
error message: Your system is low on disk space and elements cannot perform this operation. Try removing some files to free up space
I have done the following
I have deleted pictures from my catalog
I have purchased 20gb space in photoshop
I have checked for any problems with my computer. None found
I have a 6 gb hard drive with 530 gb of free space
I have open edit workspace> selected edit>Preferences>performance and have move the slider to the max setting
What other options would you recomend?

Rotating and cropping an image.

I am taking a Photoshop for school and we are using CS5. I have CS6 and I'm stuck on my picture rotating back straight when I am trying to crop it. I use the rotate view and rotate it 6degrees. As soon as I hit the crop button the picture goes straight. How can I keep my picture rotated to the 6degrees and crop it without the perspective crop tool?

Rotate view only rotates... the view; not the actual picture. It's temporary and non-destructive. It's used to help move the canvas to a better angle for drawing brush strokes.
You want to actually rotate the image or canvas. Either Ctrl T for Free Transform and rotate by moving the cursor outside one of the corners and dragging. Or Edit > Transform > Rotate

Free Transform and Crop Crosshair

What is the Free Transform and Crop Crosshair used for?
Whenever I transform an image or crop an image it shows up in the center of the image. Is this used as a refrence to the center of your image or can you do more with it?
I notice that you can move the crosshair around, which makes it even more confusing to me.

The crosshair is the point around which a rotation will be made (the roatate point). You can move it to change the point of rotation in a transform or crop.

Straighten and crop in Camera RAW

If I am having difficulty in Camera RAW if I straighten a photo and then try to crop it.
I place the line to straighten the photo and then I hit enter to complete the straightening. If I then click on crop, the image returns to the state before I hit enter after straightening it.
How does one both straighten and crop in in Camera RAW?

When the crop tool is active it will show you the original image with the crop tool outline within. If you open the image or click on the magnifying glass it will apply the crop so you won't see the part around the crop border.
Try this technique on an image that needs straightening (Note: Photoshop CS5):
1. Choose the Straighten tool, and drag a horizontal or vertical line. When you release the mouse button you'll immediately see the crop tool activate
2. Click outside the crop tool border and move the mouse. The crop border will rotate for fine tuning, and you can drag the corners to change the crop.
3. Turn it so that what's inside the crop will be straight.
4. Click on another tool besides Crop (e.g., the Magnifying Glass) to check the result.
5. If there's something wrong, go back to the Crop tool and adjust the outline.

I have tried a lot of the suggesstions I've found here and on the web -- the "Accessibility >> Reduce Motion" on/off stuff, editing the original image in Photoshop and e-mailing it to myself (downsized it, changed the overall canvas size of the image, etc., etc.), and I've found that the best fix might just be a combination of some of them, along with some tweaking of the photo...
Ensure that "Reduce Motion" is ON (Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion, set the slider to "on" (green)).
When taking a new photo, take it with your iPhone/iPad, oriented vertically ("Portrait") -- This makes the whole process quite a bit easier.
Access the photo in the "Camera" app.
Tap Edit.
Use the Crop tool to remove excess content from left and right (basically, you want a vertical rectangle, with your subject matter centered in it).
Tap Crop. The image will be slightly enlarged to fit your screen.
Tap Save.
Tap the "square with a vertical arrow" button (bottom left) -- Sorry don't know what this button is called.
Scroll through the options at the bottom of the screen and select "Use as Wallpaper".
Tap Set, then pick which screen(s) should use the photo. Bingo... new, properly-scaled wallpaper.
This is a band-aid at best, but it works. I've also Edited existing photos (taken in Landscape mode (wide)), and if I could crop the desired subject matter to fit in a tall rectangle, it more-or-less worked.
Side note: With "Reduce Motion" set to off, when I applied a photo as a wallpaper, I noticed that, even though I'd cropped it as a vertical rectangle, the image was still force-zoomed, and content was cropped out. Turn it back on, and the image was as I'd cropped it.

QT movies playback cropped

After the last QT upgrade I noticed that some of my QT movies I have placed on a slide playback as if they were cropped. I cannot see the full image, it appears as if they were masked only showing a portion of what the image should be. When played in the stand alone QT player they play fine at any scale. I have not modified the inserted movie, just placed it on the slide. I would prefer to play the brief videos on the slide during the presentation and not in the QT player app.

I am having the same problem. QT movies inserted into the KN 2.03 presentation that once played ok, now are cropped. As others have stated, only some of the movies are cropped and only when actually playing the KN presention. My solution is "esc" out of the presentation and click on the slide edit window to get the "whole" movie to play.
Any ideas out there?

Go to Settings>General>Usage. How much space does it show you have?
If you connect your phone to your computer, what does iTunes say is on your phone? Do you see a large amount of "Other"? If so, you may have a corrupted database. You'll need to sync your phone then restore it as NEW (not from back up) then re-sync your data).

Hi I am having a problem importing some existing .mpg files into iMovie '09.
I have quicktime professional and the mpeg2 pack so converted them to .mov and they still wouldn't import.
