Move cms from Lync 2010 enterprise pool to Lync 2013 enterprise pool
Hi!
We recently moved all our users from our 2010 ent pool to our new 2013 ent pool.
we have read the http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj688013%28OCS.15%29.aspx
In step 7, it says that we should run the deployment wizard. Do we have to do this on all servers in the pool?
regards,
Uc
Hi,
yes you should run it on all front-End servers in the pool

Charbel Hanna

We are currently migrating from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010, same domain.
We have successfully moved some mailboxes from exchange 2003 to exchange 2010 without any problems.
Now we need to move 1 mailbox back from exchange 2010 to exchange 2003.
After creating the moverequest it stucks on 0% and the log shows the error below.
After using Bing I found this post -> http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/ef41ae05-8816-4c0c-968a-c48f0e3d50b5/move-mailbox-back-from-exchange-2010-to-exchange-2003-failure?forum=exchangesvrdeploylegacy
This suggest ->
After I give FULL permissions to each Mailbox Stores on Exchange 2003 server, I was able to move my mailbox back onto the Exchange 2003 server. In details:
Simply right click Storage Group\Mailbox Store and go to Security, in there you may see Exchange Servers group already there, if no add it in, then give it FULL permissions! and thats it!
Create a new move request but still stuck on 0% and error as below

When you move mailbox from exchange 2010 to exchange 2003, please check if the following situations exist:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638157(v=exchg.141).aspx
Before you move mailbox again, please clear the previous move request.
I recommend you use EXBPA to check your exchange server 2003 and exchange 2010.
Please check if inheritable permission is missing on the mailbox store on Exchange Server 2003.

Move Users from OCS 2007 R2 to New Lync 2013
I am trying to move users from OCS to Lync 2013 from within the Lync 2013 Control Panel and am getting an error that states "Cannot find Registrar pool. Verify that "FQDN of old pool" is a valid registrar pool.
Give this Lync powershell command a go:

Exchange 2013 - can no longer move mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Ex 2013.
Migrating to Exchange 2013 from Exchange 2010. Created Ex 2013, moved some mailboxes OK. Then could no longer move mailboxes. No errors. The Migration email says complete. Synced: none, Total Mailboxes: none.
Tried several mailboxes. Same result.
Ex 2010 is SP3 RU6, (at least it says RU6 is installed in Programs/Features. The build is for SP3 w/o RU6???)
Ex 2013 is SP1 aka CU4.
How to proceed???
john11After many attempts to fix the issue (move remaining 4 mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013) I contacted Microsoft and we resolved the issue. Here's how.
btw - Thanks for the suggestions from Ed. However, they did not seem to move us forward.
What did work:
1. On the Exchange 2010 box, create a new database. (Someone else suggested this also). Then move the remaining Exchange 2010 mailboxes to this new db. Then after that, move the 4 mailboxes to Exchange 2013 using the GUI on Ex 2013. This only worked for one
of the four mailboxes. The other 3 failed.
2. Apparently, we need to restart the Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Replication service on the Exchange 2013 after several failed move attempts to clear cache related to the moves.
3. Then on the Exchange 2013 box, use this Exchange shell command:
New-MoveRequest -identity "[email protected]" -TargetDatabase "Exchange 2013 DB name" -BadItemLimit '500' -verbose
This moved the remaining 3 mailboxes including the Discovery mailbox. It took some time. But we could check the progress using
Get-MoveRequest
The MS Tech was terrific. Really knew his stuff. And all mailboxes are on Exchange 2013. Well, the last one is still moving, but I am optimistic.
Thanks for the suggestions. I had to get this done and the MS Tech made that happen.

Users still able to sign into Lync 2010 even though their Lync accounts are disabled
I have 2 users who are still able to sign into Lync 2010 even though I disabled their Lync accounts. They no longer show up in the Lync console or when you use get-csuser. Their Lync account were associated somehow with their AD accounts in an old domain
that we just decommissioned. I wanted to delete Lync accounts and recreate to see if that fixed their issue. After deleting the Lync account, they are still able to login. So, I guess I need to edit the Lync database to get rid of them and start fresh?.
HDLHi Winterthur,
Agree with Tek-Nerd,
this user certificate is valid for a period of 180 days, and is automatically renewed one month prior to expiration regardless of whether the user is connected internally or externally.
Jeff Guillet’s article Disabling a User in AD Does Not Disable the User in Lync provides
a good background about revoking this certificate and properly disabling the user from accessing Lync services when their Active Directory user account is disabled.

Lync 2010 client - Cannot access lync server as a remote user
Just one simple question. I cannot login to my lync 2010 server because from my location I cannot reach directly from my client the edge server on port 443. Can I still login to lync if using an internet proxy, I know that using an internet proxy,
with another ip I can reach the internet and so I can reach also the edge server public address on port 443. But I don't know if lync client for login read also internet proxy settings.
Hope it's all clear. Thanks for your supportAs long as you are able to reach Internet and your edge is configured properly, you will be able to connect. Lync client doesnt have proxy settings

Migration of Content Databases from SP 2010 "Domain A" to SP 2013 "Domain B"
Hi there,
I am in the process of planning the migration of my SP Foundation 2010 farm to SP Server 2013. I have tested this previously with the following steps and was successful:-
Backup DB on SP2010 SQL
Restore DB on SP 2013 SQL
Run Test-SPContentDatabase –Name WSS_Content_*** –WebApplication
https://intranet.***.com.au
Mount the DB - Mount-SPContentDatabase –Name WSS_Content_*** –DatabaseServer DomainA\SHAREPOINT –WebApplication
https://intranet.***.com.au
Convert Web App - Convert-SPWebApplication -Identity
https://intranet.***.com.au -To Claims -RetainPermissions –Force
Now, the goal posts have changed and we may be moving to another domain. Now, when I run
Test-SPContentDatabase command in Step 3 above on Domain B, I get the error Login Failed for 'DomainA\SP_admin'
- which makes sense.
What would be the best way to restore a DB to a new domain?you have to perform the same steps....you need new account on the new Domain. then you have to run the migrate user command.

How do I transfer my applications from a 2010 iMac to a new 2013 iMac that has a Fusion Drive?
What is the best way to transfer my Applications from a 2010 iMac to a 2013 iMac that has a Fusion Drive. I am particularly concerned about losing all my old mail. My documents have already been transferred.
The best way is to make a backup of your old iMac. Do this either by cloning to an external hard drive through SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner. OR Use Time Machine.
Then set up your new iMac using either Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant.

Moving CMS from Lync 2010 to Lync 2013 - WIndows Firewall??
We currently have the Windows Firewall disabled on all 3 of our Lync 2013 FE servers. We just don't use it and it gets in the way of some other applications. I remember when I was installing Lync on these servers, I had to enable the Windows Firewall or
setup would fail. Now that Lync has been running for a while, I have the Firewall disabled again.
Now, I am moving the CMS from Lync 2010 to 2013 and I am wondering if I should again enable the Firewall? I am concerned that the commands I need to run to prepare the 2013 FE server and the Move-CsManagement-Server command itself will fail if Windows Firewall
is disabled.
Does anyone know?Hi,
As I know, if you want to disable Windows firewall for getting in the way of some other applications you can
just turn off all three (Domain, Private, Public) profiles or disable the Windows firewall service.
If you just turn off all three (Domain, Private, Public) profiles, it means that during the install, Lync Server will add all the firewall rules to the Windows Firewall, so if after you turn on all three profiles all you need to do is turn the Windows Firewall
back on from the inside the Control Panel.
If you disable the Windows firewall service it means that the Windows Firewall snap-in won't even load. So during the install Lync Server won't be able to create the firewall rules. So after Lync installation you can enable the Windows Firewall service is
to run Step 2 from Lync Server Deployment Wizard.
More details:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/dodeitte/archive/2012/05/25/how-to-update-windows-firewall-rules-for-lync-server-2010-after-installation.aspx
So if you just turn off three (Domain, Private, Public) profiles, you should be OK to move CMS from 2010 to 2013.

Hello All,
Facing very much weird issue for only 4 users in my organization. This 4 users are migrated to Lync 2013 pool from Lync 2010 pool with Lync 2010 client migrated to Lync 2013 client.
Now whenever this users are typing in (apps like word, excel) automatically pops up Lync 2013 client which is annoying.
All my users are Windows 7 with latest updates & updates Lync 2013 with latest updates installed.
Any help really appreciated.

Thanks & Regards Anand Sunka MCSA+CCNA+MCTSHi
The solution is to do a ‘repair’ install of Office 2013. This will reregister the needed components and the popups will stop.
A repair install can be done from ‘Programs and Features’, highlight Office 2013 and click ‘Change’. When the install wizard appears, choose the ‘repair’ option.

Migrating Lync 2010 Std to Lync 2103 Std- Move PSTN Gateway and Trusted Applications
We had a Lync 2010 Std server in one site and pool and migrated to Lync 2013 Std by creating another site and pool. Same SIP domain, etc. Everything is working so far that we have tested.
My question is now is there a way to just move the PSTN gateway and trunk that shows in the shared components of the Lync 2010 site to the Lync 2013 site?Hi,
You can create PSTN geteway for Lync 2013. As Holger said, you cannot movei it.

Move from HIS 2010 to HIS 2013
We are in a process of upgrading our servers to Windows Server 2012. This is done by installing new servers. We will install HIS 2013 on Windows 2012 Server . We have a lot of HIS 2010 objects (both WIP and HIP) which we want to move over. WIP objects
are currently hosted as ASP.NET Worker process on HIS 2010. Is it possible to move these objects to HIS 2013 just using generated dll's from VS 2010/HIS 2010 ? I know that it is possible to upgrade 2010 to 2013, but we have installed an empty HIS 2013, and
want to do a "move" from HIS 2010 and run 2010/2013 in parallel. I am also looking for docs how to "Connect" HIS 2013 to IIS using TICT to IIS as we did in TI in HIS 2010 when we deployed Objects hosted as ASP.NET Worker process.
Jan TerjeHello Jan,
I've done this kind of migration last year with more than 1500 TI Objects :-)
Yes, it's possible to move easy from HIS 2010 to HIS 2013 by converting the TI Objects using the TIConversionTool (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Host Integration Server 2013\SysWow64).
The Problem with the TIConversionTool is that it doesn't replace directly the assemblies but it creates a folder structure with the converter TI Object. It's also possible to Open the HIS 2010 TI Objects in Visual Studio 2010/2012 with HIS 2013. The Objects
will be converted after you are saving again the Assemblies.
In addition you have to change your web.config files because the HIS Assembly Version has changed from 7.0 to 9.0.
Please let me know if you need more information or help !

Unable to search GAL on Lync 2013 Front End Pool through Lync 2013 client
I'm in the beginning of a 2010 to 2013 migration and I'm currently testing co-existence functionality between pools. I've noticed that users cannot search the GAL from their Lync client after being moved to the 2013 pool.
When trying to access the internal URL https://fepool13.domain.com/abs/handler the user is prompted to login and after three failed attempts, receives "401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials. You do not have permission
to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied".
Searching withing a Lync 2010 or Lync 2013 client returns no results, but there are no errors as well as nothing in the event logs or tracing folder regarding not being able to search.
The 2010 pool has been in production for a few years now and when accessing its internal ABS URL https://fepool10.domain.com/abs/handler the user is granted access after a successful login.
In the IIS logs there are slightly more detailed 401 error codes, but I’m not sure what to make of them.
The rtcab database appears to have user information and all three front end servers appear to be syncing with active directory. I say the rtcab database appears to have user info because the AbUserEntry table is filled with User ID'd, GUID's and a
bunch of other stuff.
The authentication on 2013 front end servers “internal lync website/abs/handler” is set to 1. Negotiate, 2. Ntlm - which is the same as the 2010 front end servers.
Any ideas?Hi,
Which step did you do among migration from Lync Server 2010 to Lync Server 2013?
Did you already move CMS from Lync Server 2010 to Lync Server 2013?
Please create a new Lync account on Lync Server 2013 pool and test the issue again.
Please check if User Replication has completed with the help of the link below:

Ready to decommission our only Lync 2010 FE server
We are fully functional on Lync 2013 including our Edge server. I have a single Lync 2010 FE server I wish to remove. There are of course no users on it. We never used conferencing and no telephony at all. Just simple IM and presence. The 2010 server was
more of a proof of concept and just had our IT department as users.
The CMS was moved to 2013 a long time ago and I am at this point ready to remove the 2010 server completely. There are so many articles out there with way more detail than I need. I am thinking the steps are just this:
Verify no users, contacts devices etc... exist on the 2010 server
Delete the Conference directory on the 2010 server (No data because we never used conferencing)
Uninstall the CMS from the 2010 FE using the PS command
Uninstall-CsDatabase
-CentralManagementDatabase -SqlServerFqdn <FQDN of SQL Server>
-SqlInstanceName <Name of source server>
Remove the 2010 FE from Topology builder answering yes to removing the file share
Publish the Topology
Run setup.exe on the Lync 2010 to remove components (not sure about this step)
Done
I tried following some of the many documents out there but many don't mention the uninstall of the CMS on the legacy 2010 server and the MS documents go into exhaustive detail, much of which doesn't apply to me.
Lastly, I noticed in Topology builder there is the Lync 2010 SE FE server, an A/V Conferencing Pool and a Mediation Pool. Only the server itself can be deleted.
I am guessing when you delete the FE server, the other pools go away?Working from bottom up.
Yes, deleting the server will remove the AV pool/mediation servers.
CMS SQL instance. There really isn't a reason or need to remove it. If the server is simply going to be turned off (deleted if VM) you can save yourself the work.
Same with setup. There isn't a real compelling reason to do this but you can if you like.
Lastly, if you are using conferencing on the 2013 servers, I would move your conference directory from 2010 to 2013. I've seen some really strange things happen in environments where people delete conference directories even when they thought no one
was using them. It doesn't hurt to have more than one conference directory and there are a laundry list of reasons to have multiples.
Thanks,
Richard
