Move columns in table at runtime

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to do the application which is having the following functionalities..
1)moving the columns in the table at run time...
2)drag and drop option at runtime..(i.e if one table having items and 2nd table is empty if we drag and drop the item from one table to 2nd table then the item should display in the 2nd table...
can anybody send me the procedure how to acheive this....

Drag and drop functionality can be done in table if your NWDS version CE7.1EHP1.

In version 11.1.1.5.0 I don't have this option...but I have a good solution:
we have to add a text in a dashboard page like this:

No, this is not possible in OBIEE 11g. There is a bug logged for this ( Bug 10222173 - ABILITY TO DISABLE DRAG AND SORT FUNCTIONALITY OF COLUMNS )

Accessing internal tables at runtime.

I am writing a code where in i have to transfer data from excel to database table.
Iam getting the excel data in an itab. Can anybody help me with how to access internal tables at runtime ?
i am using the following code with sy-tabix. here, when the sy-tabix is odd it picks up the value,
but i want that within the same loop when i increment sy-tabix by 1, then it should fetch the second column of same row. But its not working as it shows an error that it does not permit subfield access.
the code is as follows:

Creation of tables at runtime

In our project, requirement is such that, customer can create a form definition from UI. He can define all columns for the form, it's datatype, constraints etc. Based on that information, then they can do data entry in that form. So, until runtime, we don't know the structure of the form and each form can be unique so we cannot pre-define any columns. We need to have database tables to store the data they enter.
We evaluated few options and we are leaning towards creating the table at runtime based on the form definition. There can be thousands of records for each form and we also need some calculations on this data. So, creating one table for each form seems to be a better fit but creating tables at runtime is discouraged, in general. I would like to know opinion on this option.

What the customer wants to is use the database directly - as creating tables and constraints and the like is exactly that. Using database DDL to define objects. The database also has a data dictionary (a very comprehensive one at that). So there is no need for you to insert another layer in-between the customer and the database that contains meta data and what not.
The only automation required is to have the customer enter the definition in a template/form, and for your code to translate this directly to a DDL. Exactly the same as what DBCA does when you create a new database and click the icon to define a new tablespace. A form pops up. You enter the attributes and name of the tablespace. If you want some kind of auditing, then log the DML created to an audit/log table, after constructing it. The s/w can also log the result (error or success) of that DML's execution.
This should be the extent of your s/w's functionality. To create additional user/custom meta data tables, would be just plain silly IMO. Use the Oracle dictionary. Use the COMMENT command to add to the meta data. Do not reinvent Oracle's meta data layer.

I would like to know opinion on this option.I agree that this approach is questionable - as you just as well can give the customer a copy of SQL-Developer instead to use. As that would be the most appropriate tool for someone who insists on creating and maintaining their own data objects in Oracle.
The key issue IMO is, if this is the approach decided on, to use Oracle as a database. And not invent your own custom database layer with meta data and have the user using that, while your code then "maps/translates" that to the real tables and objects in the database.

Dynamic Creation of cells or change of cell behaviour of a table at runtime

You could use code similar to the following code in your WDDOMODIFY method of the view in which the table is placed.
data wd_table_cell_editor type ref to cl_Wd_view_element.
data wd_table_column type ref to cl_wd_table_column.
wd_table_cell_editor ?= view->get_element( ID ). (Or any other way to get the refernce to the table cell editor)
wd_table_column ?= wd_table_cell_editor->get__parent( ).
(Get a refernce to table column throught table cell editor or directly)
Now use the set_cell_editor method of wd_table_column to set the column to check box or input or any other field of your requirement.
Also, I suggest you to use ALV as it is simpler change the cell editor and it provides many other improved functionalities.

In the 2005 SDK there is a new object in the DI-API called <i>ColumnsPreferences</i>. Maybe you should look into that. The <i>TabsOrder</i> property is the one you need I guess...
Do a search on this forum on <i>ColumnPreferences</i> and you should find a few examples how to get the right column (it's tricky).

You can not 'change' the ownership.
You can, however, 'move' or 'clone' most objects by exporting and importing. As follows:
I create a table under SYS (shudder).
I then export it
- using userid SYS in this case,
- under normal circumstances I'd either use a DBA account or the owner's userid
- since I want a table, I use the TABLES option - a list is comma separated and in quotes
I then import it using a 'userid' switch - fromuser & touser options
- in this case from SYS to HR
Finally, I verify it was transported.

Move Column A

I am trying to move Column A 3 columns to the right - where Col D is. User Guide sez: +To move a column or row to a different location in the same table or a different table, click the column or row reference tab, press, and then drag the reference tab.+
When I click the column ref tab and press then drag it hilites Col B & C, etc - it doesn't simply move. Now I remember doing this before and being frustrated - then poof once it worked. Somehow I am not clicking pressing dragging etc correctly. Any clues? Help is great appreciated.

On the default "blank" document in Templates, Column A is a Header Column and Row 1 is a Header Row. As you've found, Header rows and columns have their own set of rules and restrictions.
Here's a workaround. I'd start by doing a Save as it involves a step where the data from column A exists only on the Clipboard (and in the Saved file).
Select Column A (the Header column) and Copy (or Cut).
Go Table > Delete Column. (deletes the Header column)
Go Table > Add Column to Before. (adds a body column)
Paste.
Column A should now be moveable following the instructions in the Guide.

If you want to delete the rows in the table control and simultaneously delete it from the database table, then you can implement a 'DELETE' functionality specific to your table control. Have a MARK field (you will find that in the screen attributes of the table control -> give a name for the MARK field, you will find an additional MARK column at the beginning of your table control). You can check whatever rows you want to delete from the table control, call the delete module.

    You have to loop through the table columns to set the properties in the PBO of your screen.
Here is the sample solution.
delcare a workarea for the columns in the table control in your top include.

DATA: WA_COLS LIKE LINE OF TAB1-COLS.
in your screen
PROCESS BEFORE OUTPUT.
MODULE INTIALISE_100.

    LOOP AT TAB1-COLS INTO WA_COLS.
      WA_COLS-SCREEN-INPUT = 1.
      MODIFY TAB1-COLS FROM WA_COLS TRANSPORTING SCREEN-INPUT.
    ENDLOOP.

Tabular Form: Conditional column based on another column in table/form?

Hi!
I have 4 columns in table A:
number (the question number)
question (the question to be asked)
type (TEXT, LOV are the 2 valid values)
answer (the answer with text or a selection from the lov table below)
I have 2 columns in table B:
number (the question number)
values (a single value for the lov's)
In table B there can be mutiple rows for each number. Table A and table B
join on the number.
I want to build a tablular form on table A where for each row either a text
box or a select list is displayed depending on the contents of the type column.
So row 1 would display a text box when the type value is text; row 2 would
display a select list when the type value is lov.
Is this even possible? How do I refer to the type column in the conditional for the
answer column? I am guessing that I will need to have 2 answer columns one
that displays when the type column is TEXT and one that displays when the
type column contains LOV. This is OK. Setting up the conditional is display is the issue at this point.

I'll take your first question first (3:28PM posting according to my display - not sure if you are on GMT time?):
As far as I understand it, using the select_list_from_query() function generates the options that are required in the select list as HTML tags. Each instance of this function should create a SELECT tag and the results of the query should generate one or more OPTION tags within it.
Second question (4:20PM posting):
The HTMLDB_ITEM functions are listed in the documentation - here's a link to the online version:

Most of the examples that I have seen have been on this forum - simply search for HTMLDB_ITEM or one of its functions.
I tend to leave the generation of tabular forms to the wizard as much as possible. The only exceptions are when I need to have access to more than the Primary Key for a row but don't want to show the field on screen. There are examples on the forum about concatenating the HTMLDB_ITEM functions into a single value - this hides ID fields from the user but makes them available to PL/SQL code.
Third question (5:29PM posting)
I did try using DECODE in my questionnaire but not for the feature that you needed. Originally, I wanted to use this to display one of a number of different fields (ie, my date, number or string field as appropriate to the question) but this didn't help as I couldn't get back to the right field during the update. If you have decode working for the select lists, then that's great!
The first column should be hidden or sitting behind a checkbox as this should be the Primary Key for the row and should not be editable by the user nor would it normally be displayed.
As long as your select statement creates the correct output (albeit that you may need to work on the layout!), you should have an updatable form. However, you will need to have the MRU processes in place and the appropriate buttons that trigger these. When I did my questionnaire, I created the form using a wizard to get all of the processes and buttons and then changed the select statement. If you haven't got the processes and/or buttons, we can go through adding these onto your page.
Last question (9:08PM posting)
As explained above, column 1 should normally be hidden. The INPUT tag you detail above is what I would expect to see. The value="6" attribute indicates that 6 is the Primary Key for that row - every row will have the same tag but different values for the "value" attribute. So, if it is hidden and these are the tags you see doing a View Source on the page, then everything is correct.
OK. So now we have the data on screen and (hopefully?) we have the correct processes and buttons on the page.
The next step would be validation and update of the data.
Validation of the data can be handled by a normal page process - I can let you have example code if you want to validate the data (this will also explain how to loop through the rows - there are also methods that you can use to do this in javascript if you want). Updates should be handled by the processes and buttons on the page - again, if you haven't got these we can go through adding them in (although, if you haven't yet formatted your page, you may find it quicker to copy your select statement and create the page again using the same select statement).
ORA-20001 errors are user defined errors. Do you mean the "data has changed" errors? If so, you will probably need to include the MD5 checksum functionality (it's shown in the document linked above).
Finally, we'll keep this thread going so that you have all of your workings and my responses in one place, if that's ok with you?
