Move directory instance to new administration server?

I'd like to install a fresh copy of the Netscape 4.16 administration server, and then use it to manage an existing 4.16 directory instance. How can I move that 4.16 instance from the old admin server to the new one?
Thanks!

I think that tends to be tricky and error prune... I'd suggest that you
- export your existing directory to LDIF
- deinstall directory server
- install the new admin server (guess you want it on different machine)
- install the directory server on the old machine (and configure it to use the other one as configuration instance), you'd need to reconfigure the new directory server according to your needs
- Once you verified that all works, import the LDIF file.
I think that is way easier and faster.

  • Move just wikis to new Lion server (redirect one virtual host)

I have a bunch of services on my Mac Pro with Snow Leopard Server, including file sharing, VPN, subversion, wikis, several websites, a few webapps, etc.  I don't want to upgrade that server right now, but I'd like to try upgrading the wikis to Lion Server and Wiki Server 3.
How could I move the wiki's to Lion Server on another machine?  They are all accessed through a seperate virtual host.
We only have one public IP right now (I maybe could get a second public IP but don't want to just for this.)  Everything hits my router (dd-wrt device, so quite configurable) which sends port 80 (and most other ports) to my snow leopard server.
One idea would be to have the router redirect another port (8080 or something) to the new lion server, and then put a redirect page on the original wiki address (port 80) to redirect over to 8080, which would then go to the other server.  But that's not really ideal because then the users of my wiki would see it on a new port and a lot of times ports other than 80 are blocked by firewalls (not my firewall, but firewalls closer to my users.)
So does anyone have an other ideas on how to redirect the traffic of one virtual host to another internal machine behind NAT?
Separate question: any experience migrating a wiki from Wiki Server 2 to Wiki Server 3?  Did it work well?
    John

The best way to do this is to take the contents of /Library/Collaboration and put it in a location accessible from your newly set up Lion install.  In Server.app, enable Wiki, and run:
         sudo wikiadmin migrate -r /Path/To/Library/Collaboration
After that, start the wiki and you should be good to go.  You should bind your Lion server to the same Directory as the Snow Leopard server, to ensure permissions and users carry across successfully.

  • Crystal Report 9 performance issue wehn we move old DB to new DB server

We are using Crystal Reports 9 version, recently we move to new database server and reports data source are pointing to Old database server and old database server is no longer in the network.
, Now we have issue with the performance, if the we call the reports from web application, it is talking long to retrieve the report at least 1 min.. , if we manually update the report data source pointing to new server and the reports are pulling in 1 second, Is there any easy solution to update all the report pointing to new server, we have 3000 reports, we can not use manual process, it will take long time and it is also issue with the future if we change the server.
    Thanks!

The 1 minute timeout is due to ODBC driver trying to connect, it's the default timeout you are seeing. There is not tool Cr has to migrate/update database connection info. You can develop your own though or search the web for a third party tool, I'm sure there are lots out there.

  • Best way to move SCVMM VM to new host server...

    Hi all,
Anyone have any suggestions on how to move the SCVMM VM itself (running SCVMM 2012 R2 on Server 2012 R2 vm) to a new host server?  It is currently on a standalone hyper-v host and I'd like to move it to a clustered host with high availability.
    I'd be moving it from hyper-v 2012 r2 running a gui to hyper-v 2012 r2 with no gui.

You cannot use SCVMM to move itself.
You must use the Hyper-V Management console.
And you can do a Shared Nothing Live Migration, just a migration, or an old fashioned Export and copy and Import.

  • How to move AEM to a new Management Server

In preparation for the migration to SCOM 2012, I'm replacing our 2003 servers with 2008 servers.  Is there anything specific that needs to be done to enable AEM on another server otherthan disabling AEM on the old server and
enabling it on the new one?  What is the process of updating the GPO?  Do I need to rerun the wizard and generate a new template or can the existing GPO be modified?
    Thanks,
    Ron

    Hi
I just found this question here, a bit late, but I think some one still might use it. Basically you can just disable and enable AEM on the new Management Server. What you have to make sure, that you modify the GPO to the new Management Server. The GPO adds
Settings for the Client what Kind of data is sent to the Management Server and to which Management Server. You could modify the GPO manually.
I assume you have the share for the AEM data not locally on the Management Server, instead you have it placed on a network file share.

  • Move Exchange 2013 to new Virtual Server including settings?

Since we have a failing VM Exchange 2013, we need to move the installation to a new server. We have created a new Hyper-V Server 2012 and installed a new Exchange 2013 on it. After connecting the new server to the domain we can see all settings and users
    of the existing Exchange Installation.
Since the old server has a corrupt RAID, we need to move all data and settings to the new server. We have moved some user mailboxes with the ecp to the new server. They are still working, but mailtraffic takes exactly 1 hour now?! Also these users who logon
with Outlook now get the error message 'problem with the safetycertificate of the proxyserver (translated)'. The mail still works, but 1 hour delay.
Can we now move the other mailboxes too? And if we have moved them, how can we move the settings of this server? If we shutdown the old server, will Exchange (the moved one) still be up and running? Because we are afraid that when we shutdown the old server
    it will not boot again.
Thanx for any tips of leads in the right direction.

    1. Outgoing mail from https://echange/owa is
    working.
Did you try https://ip-address-of-newserver/owa and send an email outside?
    2. Outlook 2010 does not start, cannot find mailboxes to open, so user won't have mail in the morning.
    Get-OutlookProvider -Identity EXCH | FL
If is field CertPrincipalName empty type following:
    Set-OutlookProvider EXCH -CertPrincipalName msstd:FQDN-YOUR-MAIL-SERVER
After this it should work (assuming all your mailboxes moved to the new server).
Please check this to see you the mailbox servername
    http://www.zerohoursleep.com/2013/02/manual-outlook-configuration-with-exchange-2013/
    3. Incoming mail cannot be delivered by the Barracuda (connection refused).
Ensure Barracuda is sending email to the new server and new server is not blocking incoming traffic.
    4. OWA and ECP not working from outside (public IP).
Ensure you NAT is correct by site. Check it is listening to the port using http://www.canyouseeme.org/
Please check these and get back

  • How to move GWIA 8 to new netware server

I have a server that I managed to get back up and running my GWIA 8 and a secondary MTA and POA. How do I transfer the GWIA/MTA/POA to the new Netware 6.5 server. I dont trust the current server.
While in panic mode, I tried installing it on the new server directly but it wouldn't accept the username / password during the Edirectory login age.
On the new server, I already have the Primary GW8 POA / MTA running.
    Just wondering,

    Hi Ken,
You could use DBCopy to copy everything across, and then update the settings on the agents.

  • Sun Java Web Server Administration Server Backup

    Hi!
I've a question about Sun Java Web Server Administration Server backup, how it's possible to backup all the config, the Administration Nodes keys included? I'm thinking about in case of full damage of Administration Server how can I install a new one and restore all the config so I can manage the cluster again? Or it is necessary to re-register the Node's to the new Administration Server? In this case how can I restor to the Administration Server the application's, virtual servers, etc...?
    Regards,
    bzg

The Admin Server is another instance of Web Server, but with some web-apps that know how to manage configuration files, etc. There's nothing real magical going on in there. You should be able to wholesale backup the entire directory and, if needed, restore it (in fact I've done this several times).
The files in the admin instance are considered a private interface, meaning that Sun does not guarantee that they won't change in location or format from one Update to another, but in practice they rarely change.
Regarding the nodes specifically - communication between the nodes and the admin instance is done over SSL using a self-signed certificate that was generated when the admin server was installed. The certificate is in the admin instance's config/cert8.db and key3.db files just as it would be for any "normal" instance. Keep those backed up along with admin-serv/config-store/ and you should feel pretty confident that you have the configs, nodes, and certificate/key backed up.
Again - the files in the admin instance are considered a private interface. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. You may burn your fingers and start a fire. Your mileage may vary. Files from WS7.0u4 may break things if restored into a WS7.0u10 deployment, etc etc etc.

  • Changing the infrastructure to the usage of an administration server

there was a posting in 2007
    http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=759&threadID=5170258
with the title: Administration server migration to adminitration node
Is this still true with the current release 7u6, as the posting was from 2007 ?
Is it possible to backup the config of the instance servers, and re-install these backups then on a newly created administration server to circumnavigate a complete re-configuration on the newly created administration server ?
given: four webserver instance servers. No administration server.
should be: one new administration server, and many administration nodes. The configs should then be deployed to these hosts.
    Best practice?

  • How to migrate Sun One directory server to a new physical server install

    need help
We have to move our existing installation of sun on directory server 5.2 to a new physical server.
We have a new physical server with a new host name. I am trying to find an easiest way to take a snapshot of our existing server and put it on a new installation
So will installing sun one directory server , its shows me two choices either to create a new instance or copy configuration from a existing server
What do i choose and which is the fastest route to replicate my old server
    Thanks a bunch in advance
    Sganb

    Hi,
I'm glad you're still using the old, glorious Sun One Directory Server 5.2, because it brings me back a lot of memories... But are you seriously talking of the 'plain' version, with no patches/hot fixes on top? If that's the case, you're using of a software that has been developed in 2004 and released in Jan 2005! Just for you to be aware, in the last *8* (eight) years a considerable number (in the magnitude of 10^3) of bugs, security problems and performance issues has been identified and fixed...
However, to provide a better answer to your question, it would be important to understand the 'big picture' in terms of scenario and requirements:
    1) Is this a critical 24x7 service for which you need to perform an on-line migration or you have a 'maintenance window' during which the service may be switched off?
    2) Is the old server member of replication environment? If yes, how many masters/slaves do you have already? Shall the new server be part of this topology? What role shall it have?
    3) Would it be possible to make the the old server able to communicate with the new server?
    4) How big is the database that you've got to migrate? Do you have any requirement in terms of caches?
    5) Do you take backups on a regularly basis and have in place working (*tested*) backup/restore procedures?
    6) Is the new server conserving or changing the O.S. and architecture? [SPARC->SPARC, x86->x86, SPARC->x86, Solaris -> ? , 32 .vs. 64-bit? ]
    7) What are the steps you did to 'install' the software on the new server?
    Thanks,
    Marco
P.S.: I don't wanna sound 'scaring' with all these questions, neither this should be intended as an 'hidden advertising' for Oracle Professional/Consulting Services, but the only way to not put in jeopardy your data is being aware of the risks, having the control of what's going on and ... possibly have a 'B' plan ;-)
P.S.S.: My last suggestion is to consider a migration to a later release AS SOON AS POSSIBLE; the latest is ODSEE 11.1.1.7, which is available here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/oid-11g-161194.html
and seems to work pretty well ;-)

  • Error when creating a new Reports Server instance

    Hi,
I have tried to create and start a new reports server instance using the following method:
1- Creating the report server instance:
    rwserver server=%newrepserver% start
    2- Stopping the OPMN:
    *%ORACLEHOME%\opmn\bin\opmnctl stopall*
3- Adding a new server target to OPMN.XML

    5- Starting the OPMN again:
    *%ORACLEHOME%\opmn\bin\opmnctl startall*
However, when I try to start the OPMN again, I receive the following error:

Any ideas as to why the reports server instance cannot be started?
I have tried rebooting the server many times and have recreated other reports server instances but with no luck.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Chris

On Windows this is caused most often by the temporary directory setting.
Change the temporary directory to some fixed directory writable by anybody, e.g. "C:\temp".
    Change this in:
    Registry entry: hkey_local_machine\software\oracle\key_<oashome>\REPORTS_TMP
<oashome>\opmn\conf\opmn.xml: search for environment variable TEMP (under ias-instance)
    Good luck!

  • Move entire database instance to new hard drive

    I'm running SQL Server 2012 over Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 on a Hyper-V host (also on 2008 RS SP1).
I used a fixed sized virtual disk and I don't care for how I allocated the space. So I just wanted to create a new virtual disk, then take the entire instance and move it from the existing VHD to the new one.
    Is this possible?
I also researched trying to shrink a VHD -- that seems to be equally as daunting and potentially fraught with issues.
I also looked into moving the entire instance from one server to another (build a new server then move the instance), but what I seemed to find is that this is not supported.
I have a mission-critical database on the SQL Server (though it's not that large), and currently have a test of SharePoint in the same instance. Is this best practice? One instance for all the databases? I was also thinking of using SQL Server as a back
end for an Apache web server.
    Any ideas? (Thanks in advance!)

    Hello Archi,
You cannot move entire instance it would require uninstall. But you can move user and system databases to drive which you desire.
SQl server service restart will be required
