Move DPM Server and Disk Data to New Server

What would be the best way to move my current DPM 2012 R2 to a completely new server with all new disks for storage. The data disk are not locally attached storage, but drives physically in the new server and old server. I read the article about moving
the database but am not sure about the migration of the data. How do I get the data from the old server to the new server when not using an external drive array.
Thanks

Hi,
On your new server get DPM installed, make sure your disks with your replica's from the old server are in the new server, restore the DPM DB and then run dpmsync. Once DPM is operational you can move the data to the new disks. You can use a GUI tool by Michael
Seidl to move the replicas to the new disks. Here is the link:

I am trying to move my library and playlists to a new computer by burning to CD's. However, I followed the directions by going to File and then Library - then they said to go to burn CD(s) - I DO NOT have that option for some reason. How do I do this? I have done the library sharing thing but I am getting rid of my primary computer and am afraid I will lose the library.

To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
Then hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
and select the Library that you moved.  That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
Your first option didn't work because you imported one Library to another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.
Your second option didn't work because you simply referenced her library on the old machine.

  • How to move Oracle APPS 12 setup data to new APPS 12 production environment

    Dear All
I need to know , how we can move Oracle APPS 12 setup data to new APPS 12 production environment?? What is the easy and secure way, we dont want to do the new installation of APPS 12 and re-setup the things....
    cheers

    Hi,
Can you please explain more regarding to move setup from DEV to PROD instance. The steps are documented in the iSetup manual, so have you gone through the documentation?
Also we would install PROD with multi tier nodes, and HA cluster. So in that case what would be the change to move the setups from DEV to PROD, as DEV is single node TEST APPS 12 installation.iSetup is helpful in moving the functional setup between the two instances. If you want to create an identical copy of your DEV instance to PROD instance (provided that both instances contain no data), then you can use "Rapid Clone" -- See (Note: 799735.1 - Rapid Clone Documentation Resources, Release 11i and 12).

  • How can I move my catalog and pictures to a new computer?

I'm using PSE 6 under XP.  I want to install PSE 8 on a new Win 7 computer.  How can I move all my pictures and my currnet catalog to the new computer?
    Thanks,

Install PSE 8 on the old computer and convert your catalog to PSE 8 format there.  Then use the backup/restore method in PSE 8 to move the catalog and photos to the new computer.  See these FAQs for details:

  • Migrate WWI and Expert Rules to new server

    Hello,
Does anyone have any "best practice" document or information related to migrating WWI and Expert rules from an existing server to a new server?  The "cookbook" provided in SAP Note for WWI installation does not mention anything regarding "re-install" or "migration.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Thomas,
I do not have a document available for you, but I would do it like this:
Make sure you have the same Word Version installed on both PCs
Make sure the word settings are the same (Trusted Locations / Macro Security etc.)
Make sure you have the same printers/printer drivers and default printer definied on both PCs
Copy WWI and Expert Folder from one PC to the other to the same location
Make sure you have the same PATH Variables defined on both PCs
Makre sure DCOM settings are the same of MS Word and Adobe
If you send PDFs make sure Adobe Reader and the tool you use to create PDFs is installed on both PCs the exact same way
SetUp the Windows Services for EH&S Management Server, WWI and Expert on the new server exactly the way they have been on the old server.
If your new PC has a different OS or newer Office Version I would do a complete new installation via the EH&S Management Server / CGSADM. Make sure to copy your Rules files and Graphics from the old PC to the new PC.
    Hope this helps

  • Migrating Netscape Directory Server 4.1 to a new server

    Hi,
In the current production environment, we are using Netscape Directory Server 4.1 as the authentication with Siebel CRM system. The server hardware is old and there is a need to refresh the server. As Netscape Directory Server is the only supported/ certified LDAP with embedded functionalities in Siebel Financial Services 6.0.2.300, we are planning to upgrade only the server hardware and migrate all the user information from old server and the new one, with Netscape Directory Server 4.1 remained.
I have studied the Netscape Directory Server 4.1 Deployment Guide and gone through the migration procedures, looks like the procedures are only applicable for migrating Netscape Directory Server to a newer version. There are no specific procedures mentioned for migrating Netscape Directory Server to the new server hardware with the same directory server version.
I am seeking for detailed procedures of migrating Netscape Directory Server 4.1 to a new server hardware with the same directory server. Anyone has done this migration before? I thank you in advance for your valuable feedback.
    Sincerely,
    Julie

Luckily, I have the technical documentation in hand, which contains all the configuration of the current server. So I need to use "db2ldif" to export the data. I am currently testing on the migration by following these steps:
    1. Install the new server.
    2. Stop the Netscape Directory Server and Netscape Administration Server services in old server.
    3. Copy the slapd-<server_name> folder from old server to a temp location of new server.
    4. Take the old server offline.
    5. Configure new server to have the exact configuration as the old server.
    6. Backup the existing slapd-<server_name> folder in new server, copy the slapd-<server_name> folder from the temp location to C:\Netscape\Server4 directory of new server.
    7. Start the Netscape Directory Server and Netscape Administration Server services in new server.
Will try out your suggested method. Thank you so much for your feedback.
    Regards,
    Julie

  • Migrate Server 2008 Certificate Authority To New Server Different Host Name?

Our internal CA is installed on one of our Exchange servers.  Exchange is being migrated from 2010 to 2013, so all current Exchange servers will decommissioned and replaced with new new Hyper-V VMs with either Server 2008 R2 or 2012 R2 OS. The old VM
containing Exchange 2010 and the current CA will go away since we cannot afford to use the server resources and use up the required Windows license to keep that server running doing nothing but acting as a CA.
So, we will either need to move the CA to the new replacement Exchange 2013 server or some other existing server that's being used for something else (maybe one of the domain controllers).
What is the best way to handle this?  I don't think the migration from Exchange 2010 to 2013 allows for reusing the same host name on the replacement server and if we move the CA to another existing server, it will also be on a server with a new host
    name anyways.
Can we migrate the CA to a new server with a different host name?
What about reissuing all the active certificates from the current server to replace them with new certificates from the new server and then decommissioning the original CA?  Can this be automated in some way?
Which way is best and how would it be done?

When following the instructions in the guide, I would also consider to switch to new "sanitized" URLs in certificates (CDP and AIA) in case you had used the default URLs now. That's what I did this when migrating W2K3 CAs (with default URLs) to W2K8 R2.
Per default, the LDAP and HTTP URLs point to the CA server itself (HTTP) or to an LDAP objects that has the same name as the current server.
Migrating to a new server, you need to make sure that CRLs will still be published to the old locations - thus the new CA server would write to the LDAP object that corresponded to the old server, and HTTP might be fixed by redirecting the DNS record. (Make
sure this is documented so that nobody thinks it might be a good idea to delete the old object as it "references a server that does not exist anymore".)
As you have to fiddle with URLs anyway, I would then add new URLs having neutral names - that is URLs not including the name of the CA server. The new CA instance would then 1) publish to the old locations but not add these to certificates anymore and 2)
publish to new sanitized locations and add them to CDP and AIA URLs.

  • What is the difference between Outlook features using exchage server and using 3rd party mail server ?

Hi~ I'd like to know what the difference is between Outlook features using exchage server and using 3rd party mail server.
If I use 3rd party mail server with Outlook, Outlook features are the same as Exchange Server ?
I want to use all Outlook features..

The basic features (and many advanced features) are identical in all accounts. With pop3, your mail, calendar, contacts, tasks, notes are stored in a pst and are only on the computer. IMAP accounts only sync email back to the server, not calendar,
contacts, and tasks. Outlook.com EAS accounts (aka Hotmail) syncs calendar and contacts back to the server. Exchange mailboxes stores everything on the server - mail, calendar, contacts, custom views, rules - and if you open the mailbox in outlook on
any other computer, the mailbox is identical. Because everything is on the server, you'll have much better syncing with smartphones and tablets with Exchange mailboxes.
Calendar sharing, open other users folder, and retention policies are Exchange-only. Mail Tips and apps (linked under the reading pane header in Outlook 2013) are Exchange-only.

  • Steps to upgrade and move server and home folders to new box

    Hi All,
Can anyone outline the steps I should take to move my 1200 users from a G4 PowerMac Server 10.4.11 to an Intel Mac 10.5.6 and move home folders to a new drive on the new box? Can it be as simple as using the migration tool and connecting up the firewire cable? And what about the fact that the IP will need to be the same?
    Many thanks for any hints,
    ...Tom

Unfortunately, it is not as simple as using the Migration Assistant.
Please refer to the following guide from Apple:
    http://images.apple.com/server/macosx/docs/Upgradingand_Migrating_v10.5_2ndEd.pdf
You are migrating from 10.4 to 10.5, so read that section carefully. There are still quirks in the 2nd edition of this guide, where it tells you to do extra stuff, but it won't hurt.
If you have another IP address available, use that in combination with a temporary hostname until everything is setup. Afterwards, turn down the old server and use the changeip command on the new server.
Schedule your migration to a long window of opportunity when the least amount of people are going to need it - like Friday evening (then take Monday off).

I recently got a new iMac and did the set up THEN I took it to the store to have my backup data loaded onto my new iMac from my old crashed iMac. Now I have 2 login accounts on my new iMac. The old one has my iTunes and iPhoto libraries and my new login is empty. Is it possible to move the libraries and the other data to my new login and delete the old one?

I've done something a little different but have the same problem, sort of.  I had been with AT&T for years and had iphones but I switched to VZ wireless quite a while back and got a droid.  I just switched back and got the iphone 4S and was downloading apps from the phone having forgot I already had an iTunes account so I created another one.
After doing the above (which I'm not sure where to even start) is it possible to get all of the songs from my old account loaded onto my new phone (I haven't even attempted it yet because I don't know where to start)?

  • Best way to move Ap library and masters to a new HD

    Hello,
I currently have my library on a 500GB HD on my mac pro. Since free space is running out I purchased a 1TB internal drive. Now I want to move everything to this new drive (library and masters).
By copying all the masters and the library to the new location and pointing to it in the general preference of aperture would work but copying just will take too long.
Is there a better way to do that?

If you are moving masters, that sounds like you have referenced master files.
    1) Backup your Aperture Library if you can; don’t delete it and your original referenced masters until the last step, if ever!
    2) Use Aperture -> File -> Relocate Masters so Aperture makes all the connections to the new location itself:
To move masters for referenced images to a new location
In the Browser, select the referenced images whose masters you want to move.
    Choose File > Relocate Masters.
Choose a folder location in the dialog that appears.
Choose None from the Subfolders pop-up menu to specify that the files be stored as separate, individual files in the selected folder. You can also specify that Aperture create a hierarchy of subfolders with specific folder names to store your files. For more information about creating folders to hold your imported image files, see Importing Masters for Referenced Images into Folders.
Choose a naming convention from the Name Format pop-up menu to specify how you want the masters named.
For example, choose Master Filename from the Version Name pop-up menu to have your files stored using the current master filenames from your camera or card. Choose a name format from the Version Name pop-up menu to have your masters stored using a specified name. If you choose a custom name format, enter the name you want in the Name Text field. For more information about naming files, see Automatically Naming Your Imported Images.
    Click Relocate Masters.
    3) As for the Aperture Library now updated with the new locations for the referenced masters, you can certainly simply copy your Aperture Library to the internal drive.
    4) Then drag that internal drive library icon over your Aperture program icon in the dock, and you’ll launch the program with everything taken care of on the new location and the new library.
    5) Once confident everything worked properly (maybe in a few months unless you need the disk space sooner), delete or archive your original referenced masters and original Aperture Library.
