Move EM10g repository to new server

I want to move my repository to a new (more powerfull) server. I thought I could get away with an export, but that doesn't work. I end up with view that won't compile and other scary errors.
I could have done a move of the complete database (i.e.clone the old one) to start with, but I wanted to reorganize the whole thing so I really don't want the old stuff in my shiny new database. Is there a clean way to do this? Is there a migrate tool or somthing like that to export an EM repository like there is for Designer repositories?

Hi ,
One way is to run the emca(Enterprise Manager Configuration Assistant) utility.
Set the following environment variables to identify the Oracle home and the system identifier (SID) for the database you want to manage:
ORACLE_HOME
ORACLE_SID
Change directory to the ORACLE_HOME/bin directory.
Start EMCA by entering the following command with any of the optional command-line arguments shown in Table 1-3:
$PROMPT> ./emca
Depending upon the arguments you include on the EMCA command line, EMCA prompts you for the information required to configure Database Control.
For example, enter the following command to configure Database Control so it will perform automatic daily backups of your database:
$PROMPT> ./emca -config dbcontrol db -backup
EMCA commands are of the form:
emca [operation] [mode] [type] [flags] [parameters]
For info about the operation , type , flags , parameters have a look at Oracle Doc titled as "Enterprise Manager Advanced Configuration"

  • Move database to the new server

    Hello,
I have 10.2.0.1 Standard Edition database (7GB, not in archivelog mode) on Windows2003 server, and need to move it to the new server (same environment). I thought to use OEM Clone option, but it appears cloning to the other host is working only in Grid - and I have DB Control.
I know about manual cloning/recreation, but now looking into export and import option. So I think to install Oracle database on the new server, then import some relevant tablespaces exported from the old database. I will use datapump utility in OEM, under system username.
Is that a good approach ? What rules should be applied to avoid problems in that case ? Sorry if it's very basic question, never moved database before.
    Marina

Options for porting the database from one server to another after installing Oracle on the new server incldue
    Export/Import using expdp/impdp
    Rman duplicate to compatiable hardware
Rman file conversion to non-compatiable hardware
On advantage of expdp/impdp is this option supports reconfiguring the database tablespace/file/object storage layout as part of the migration. Also the adoption of new features like ASSM.
A disadvantage is that using expdp/impdp will probably be slower and involve more DBA work than using file copies via rman. There are approaches to reduce the clock time necessary to support export/import and the work is often beneficial for long-term database management efforts.
There have been threads on this topic before and failry recently. You might want to hunt one or two of them down.

  • Move Publisher backup to new server( Cold Standby Server) ?

We have CUCM cluster consist of 1 publisher, 4 subscriber and have installed a new node like another cluster's publisher(with diferent ip address from existing publisher) . When existing publisher goes down we will move publisher backup to new server and change publisher ip address to new server on existing subscribers.
    is it posible ?
Our aim is using new server for publisher down issue.(like cold standby server but diferent ip address from existing publisher)
Or is there any better way to install publisher backup on on branch? When publisher goes down we will use the new server like publisher.

Re: NTP... you can have multiple NTP servers assigned, and only the primary NTP server is used for license MAC generation. As such, I would:
    1) set the primary NTP server to be the real NTP address you want to use. This will not be accessible when you build the server with the old servers' IP.
    2) set the secondary NTP server to an accessible NTP server. I do this by setting up NTP on the server you serve the SFTP backup file from. I use Meinberg NTP if this is a Windows box, it's free.
That way you can build the server (primary NTP not accessible, but secondary is so it's fine). Then after the restore, change IP address and it will start using the primary NTP server.
I presume deployment type refers to product and role .e.g. a CUCM Publisher, not a CUC server or CUCMBE publisher.

  • Move apps tier to new server

    Hi all,
here we have 2 node setup
    node 1 : apps + db (cm + db)
    node 2 : apps (web + forms)
requirement is we want to move node 2 to new server bcoz os team wants to do some maintainance on node 2.
is this possible to move only node 2 (web + forms) to new server through rapid clone n sync with existing cm and db node or we have to move entire setup to new servers
links n MOS doc ids highly appreciated
    versions:
    apps : 11.5.9
    db: 9.2.0.8
    os : RHEL 4
    Thanks,
    Haafiz

Yes it is possible and all you need to do is the following (you don't need to move node1):
    - Install OS on the new server + OS pre-req software and packages
    - Run preclone on node 2
    - Shutdown the application on node 2 and copy the files to the new node
    - Run postclone on the new node
    - Clean FND_NODES and run AutoConfig
Oracle Applications Installation Update Notes, Release 11i (11.5.10.2) (Doc ID 316806.1)
Cloning Oracle Applications Release 11i with Rapid Clone (Doc ID 230672.1)
How to get a clean Autoconfig Environment ? (Doc ID 391406.1)

  • Redefinition of locations when move Warehouse Builder to new server

    Hi
We have 4 DW/OWB environment, but only one design repository (development)
We have defined 4 configurations with 4 "sets" of locations.
The locatiosn are defined as host:port:servicename, because of bug, when defined as tns.
Now we are moving our DW to a new server and must redefine all locations.
After the movement we have to
    1) unregister all locations
    2) change all locations
    3) register all locations
    4) redeploy all mappings, process flows and procedures
This is a huge task, even if it can be automated via a OMBPlus script.
Does any one know about a script (SQL or OMBPlus), that can be used for redefinition of the locations in the design repository and the 4 runtime repositories, so we don't have to perform the above tasks ?
    Best Regards

  • MOVE REPLICATION DATABASE TO NEW SERVER

WE HAVE A PRODUCTION DATABASE THAT WORK'S AS REPLICATION FROM 9 DATABASES, WE ARE GOING TO MOVE DATABASE TO NEW SERVER.
AS DATABASE IS PRODUCTION, WE CAN NOT STOP SERVICES. WE THINK TO CREATE A NEW DATABASE ON NEW SERVER, IMPORT DATA FROM PROD. DATABASE. SIZE APROX 100GB.
    QUESTION:
I NEED TO KNOW HOW I CAN STOP SERVICES SHORT TIME. TO CHANGE TO SNEW SERVER.
    THANKS FOR YOUR SUGGESTIONS

    Здравствуте Ivan.
Before i would do anything like this i would make sure that i have a good valid backup (just in case!).
I would check all the applications that are currently conencting to your ORacle and make sure they are all conneting 'by name' not the IP. Or and then i would check DNS server (make sure nslookup is working) to makesure that everything resolves correctly after the moving DB to another machine.
Then check that the oracle_home etc are in the same directory and check that all paths etc in the configurations are the same.
    Hope this helps

  • Represent existing Storage Repository to new server pool?

I have a testing delima.. We have a block-storage SR that was in use on Server Pool A, but want to move it to Server Pool B. I dont see any way in the GUI to facilitate moving a SR (OCFS2) to a new Server pool.
I know I can probably destroy, delete, unpresent and rebuild an empty SR on the new server pool but I dont see why moving it wouldnt be an option
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Dave

Forgot to clarify, we already represented the block storage to the new servers in Pool B, and they see them just fine.. The GUI simply doesnt show the new servers in Pool B in the "present storage repo" dialog.

  • Can't auto decommission and move service profile to new server

When blade hardware is fail service profile will move to new server in server pool. but before service profile move to new server ,administrator must approve by click Decommission link in server pool configuration. If i tested by click Decommission in Server Maintennance Menu it work fine but tested by Unmount Blade Server ,Unmount HDD ,Power button don't work service profile don't move to new server.
I need automatic decommission function and how i config it?
When service profile move to new server if blade hardware fail?

    Thank you for answer.
I has open TAC and then answer from Cisco support is no auto decommission in UCSM.
I think is Weakness of cisco ucs system.
UCS Develop team can you provide simple script auto decommission for me and another customer ?

  • Move mailbox database to new server (new domain)

    Hey,
I want to move a mailbox database from a broken server to a new server in a new domain.
We are already using the new server and I am wondering if I can merge the databases or make the old mail available in any way. Currently everybody has done a pst export before adding the new mailbox.
    Thanks,
    Jason

    Hi Jason,
Exchange Server 2013 introduces the concept of batch moves and migration endpoints. Migration endpoints are management objects that describe the remote server and the connections that can be associated with one or more batches. And, the new batch move architecture
improves on MRS moves with enhanced management capability. You can select the appropriate method to move your mailboxes.
Here is an article for your reference:

  • Move MaxDB database to new server

    Hello,
I would like to move a MaxDB (Content Server) database from a Windows 2003 x86 server to a Windows 2003 x64 server. I will be moving from 7.5 to 7.6 at the same time. Reading around the subject, this is what I have done so far:
    Target Server:
Used SAPINST to install the MaxDB 7.6 / Content Server 6.40 on the new x64 target server.
SAPINST created a empty database on the target server and I added the appropriate number of volumes.
After playing around I used db_active to initialize the target database.
Put the target database in admin mode.
    Source Server:
Used  backup_start CompleteData RECOVERY DATA to create a backup of the database.
    Target Server:
Created a backup medium called Restore and pointed this at the copied backup file.
In db_admin mode executed a recover_start "Restore" DATA
    db_online
Re-created the system tables (via wizard or dbmcli)
    Questions:
Do I need to apply any log backups here (assuming no activity on source)?
If there were activity on the source and I applied the logs to the target, how do I apply the data that is in the transaction logs but not currently written to the log backup?
There is no backup history on the target server, how does it know how far to go and that the log recovery is complete?
Can the backup history be copied from souce to target?
    Thanks,
    Philip.

    Hello Philip,
SAP Note 1089402 - "Shortening backup history for MaxDB/liveCache instances" is useful in this case:
The backup history of a database instance that is based on MaxDB is stored in the files dbm.knl and dbm.mdf in the run directory (usually, /sapdb/data/wrk/<DBSID>)
You can copy these two files in the new server in order to apply the log backup to the restored database BUT... this is not supported by SAP, because as far as I know there is no SAP Notes where you are asked to do so.
So, the supported procedure is to restore the DB but you shouldn't apply any backup log

  • Move Owb database to new server

    Hi,
We are going to move our Owb (9.2.0.2.8) database to a new server. The nodename isn't going to change only the ip-address will change. The OS will be the same.
    The steps will be:
    1) install Owb on new server
    2) copy database to new server
Is there some other step we'll need to take?

  • Move SSRS engine to new server, but keep same reporting databases

We have our SQL Server reporting services (2008 R2) setup as follows:
ServerA: contains the reporting services engine (including the report manager URL, web service URL and so on).
ServerB: Is the sql server instance that hosts the reporting databases for ServerA (ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB).
ServerA is EOL and will be replaced by ServerC. I have two questions:
    1. How do we proceed to install Reporting Services on ServerC so that it points to the databases on ServerB.
    2. How do we migrate the reports (and settings) from ServerA to ServerC.  Will this be automatic by pointing ServerC to the exiting databases on ServerB.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
All reports / Settings are stored in ReportServer database, so if you Keep your database you have nothing to migrate.
Install SSRS without configuration on the new machine and afterwards do the configurtaion with Point the "ReportServer" database to ServerB.

  • Move Adobe Connect 7.5 to new server hardware

What is the process for moving Adobe Connect to new server hardware. We are currently running Adobe Connect Pro 7.5 (7.5.1.0.100) on a Win2K3 SP2 server. We would like to move Connect over to new server hardware running Win2K8 R2 (64-bit). The Connect database will remain on a separate Win2K3 SP2 / SQL 2005 sp4 server.
Unless it will pose a problem, the NETBIOS computer name will be different. However, the IP address and FQDN will remain the same.
What is the recommended procedure for doing this?
PS - Shortly after moving to new hardware, we plan to upgrade to Connect 8. Is it better to upgrade first, then move to new hardware? Or vice-versa?

    Hi,
moving to new hardware is basically a new install on the new server, then moving over backed up content, then reconnecting to the database.
It makes no difference if you upgrade first and then move hardware or move first and then upgrade. I'd move first and make sure Connect works fine on the new hardware, then upgrade.
Here are some steps that should work.
    1. make sure your new hardware, OS and SQL Server are supported
         http://help.adobe.com/en_US/connect/8.0/installconfigure/connect_8_install.pdf
(for 7.5 check the requirements here: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatconnectpro/systemreqs/#proserver )
    2. Take a backup of your current content directory and all customised config files.
(the config files will be a reference to restore SSL or other modifications, do not just move them back in once upgraded).
    3. Take a backup of your database and make sure you know the login and password to your SQL server.
    4. Stop the services on the old server
    5. If also moving DB, attach your DB backup to the new SQL host.
    6. Install Connect on the new hardware.
    7. Do not start the services yet, first restore the backed up content.
    8. start the services, bring up the console and connect to the DB.
    9. check your settings in the console, a restart might be required first.
    10. Does the login page load?
    11. Follow the install guide from step 1 to re-apply SSL config if required (in Connect 8 this is done slightly different than in C7)
Changing the windows machine name, can cause trouble, not always, but it's easiest to just re-use the name on the new hardware.
If that's not an option, an entry in the conenct DB needs to be updated:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407446.html
I am fairly certain these steps will work, but cannot test this and I do not know your exact environment, so I can give no guarantee this will work. It is always good to just test the move to new hardware and if things go wrong, bring the old system back into production and contact support.
    Good luck!
    Kay

  • Move large database to other server using RMAN in less downtime

    Hi,
We have large database around 20TB. We want to migrate (move) the database from one server to other server. We do not want to use standby option.
    1)     How can we move database using RMAN in less downtime
    2)     Other than RMAN is there any option is available to move the database to new server
For option 1 (restore using RMAN),
    Whether below options are valid?
If this option is valid, how to implement this?
    1)     How can we move database using RMAN in less downtime
    a)     Take the full backup from source (source db is up)
    b)     Restore the full backup in target (source db is up)
    c)     Take the incremental backup from source (source db is up)
    d)     Restore incremental backup in target (source db is up)
    e)     Do steps c and d, before taking downtime (source db is up)
    f)     Shutdown and mount the source db, and take the incremental backup (source db is down)
    g)     Restore last incremental backup and start the target database (target is up and application is accessing this new db

    Simple:
I do this all the time to relocate file system files... But the principle is the same. You can do this in iterations so you do not need to do it all at once:
Starting 8AM move less-used files and more active files in the afternoon using the following backup method.
    SCRIPT-1
    RMAN> BACKUP AS COPY
    DATAFILE 4 ####"/some/orcl/datafile/usersdbf"
    FORMAT "+USERDATA";
Do as many files as you think you can handle during your downtime window.
During your downtime window: stop all applications so there is no contention in the database
    SCRIPT-2
    ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE 4 offline;
    SWITCH DATAFILE 4 TO COPY;
    RECOVER DATAFILE 4;
    ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE 4 online;
I then execute the delete of the original file at somepoint later - after we make sure everything has recovered and successfully brought back online.
    SCRIPT-3
    DELETE DATAFILECOPY "/some/orcl/datafile/usersdbf"
For datafiles/tablespaces that are really busy, I typically copy them later in the afternoon as there are fewer archivelogs that it has to go through in order to make them consistent. The ones in the morning have more to go through, but less likelihood of there being anything to do.
Using this method, we have moved upwards 600G at a time and the actual downtime to do the switchover is < 2hrs. YMMV. As I said, this can be done is stages to minimize overall downtime.
If you need some documentation support see:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e18951/asm_rman.htm#CHDBDJJG
And before you do ANYTHING... TEST TEST TEST TEST TEST. Create a dummy tablespace on QFS and use this procedure to move it to ASM to ensure you understand how it works.
Good luck! (hint: scripts to generate these scripts can be your friend.)

  • Move EM10g GC repository to another host

Is it possible to move EM10g GC repository to anther host? EM10g release is 10.1.0.4. What if EM10g 10.2.0.2?

I did move my management server to another host. Just cloned the database, but I did change the name of the new host to that of the old OMS. From other postings here I gathered that changing the name of the host is not supported.
I did have to generate new keys on the OMS, beacuse the majority of the agent didn't want to talk to me... Re-generating the keys solved the problem. It's one of the emctl commands.
