Move forward even on incorrect answer with infinite attempts?

Hello,
I want to use captivate for a summative assessment where students can have inifinite attempts at each question and are able to move backwards and forwards through the quiz. From what I can see at the moment when I set the question level attempts to infinite the slide never progresses until they get the answer correct. I want them to be able to change their answer but move forward on submit even if their answer is incorrect? At the moment I can't seem to see a way of doing this? Is my only option to use custom slides?

You are correct that if you set infinite attempts on a question then Captivate will assume you wanted the student to remain on that question until they got it correct. 
Developers often find it difficult to understand how Captivate's quiz questions work. There are many ways you can configure the question options.  In fact there are good reasons for seemingly bizarre behaviours, but those reasons are often masked by the way your settings are configured.
As a sample: Once the participant submits an answer for a quiz slide (correct or incorrect) and then progresses to another slide, their answer for that slide is locked in.  If you have multiple attempts on that question allowed, AND you have backward movement allowed, THEN your participant can move back to the previous question and reattempt it, but if you don't have the Retry caption or Failure levels turned on, Captivate will then only appear to allow them to submit a correct answer. 
If you want the user to be able to move forward even if their answer is incorrect, just enable the SKIP button on the question slide.  The user can then opt to click this button to move to the next question.
